I’m a wee bit embarrassed to be so behind–only on #6! I have been reading, just not taking the time to write about all of them. But I’m starting again–here’s my review of a probably over-reviewed book. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of reviews of this book on Amazon. What’s my angle? Well, I come from a very evangelical family and my grandfather was a missionary–I kept thinking of him and wondering what he had in common with the nasty missionary character, Nathan Price. Pickled Tink’s CBR-III Review #5 — Perdido Street Station by China Mieville

Perdido Street Station is a bizarre, jumbled, hot mess of a book, but it’s also sublime, fascinating, and original. It’s got mad scientists; strange new life forms; a sprawling, vicious, nasty, but glorious city; inter-species sex; steampunk elements; and so much more. I didn’t even know how to begin my review of it, but I managed to wrangle something out of it. Check it out here.

Pickled Tink's CBR-III Review #4 — Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

I only started reading Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series a few months ago, but I am already a fan. Click here for my review of Guards! Guards!, which I believe is the 8th novel in this very long series. I would call it a Monty Pythonesque fantasy series, so if you like that kind of humor, jump in and try it (but maybe you already have as Pratchett wrote the first one way back in 1983).

This, my friends, is a book we really don’t want Glenn Beck to read. It’s quite thrilling and all, but damn Coben imagines a really creepy terrorist angle that would have Beck crapping his pants on live television. (He hasn’t done that yet, right?) Click here for the review.

It was great last night enjoying time with my friends and celebrating the fact that PICKLED TINK has become a FINALIST in the Broad Humor Film Festival Screenwriting Competition!

Everybody is so excited and anxiously awaiting the verdict which will happen on June 13 at the awards celebration and the Venice, California, the Los Angeles area.

Here are some of my buddies… and my hubby, Jim.

So, it goes like this . . .

Holy cow!

What a great week this has been… I have been chosen, or actually my screenplay “Pickled Tink” has been chosen as a FINALIST in the Broad Humor Film Festival Screenwriting Competition!

2010 FINALIST -- "Pickled Tink"

There are only five categories for feature films, and only two finalists per category!

I want to say this again, because I’m not sure that you might understand what I just said, I am one of two people in my category from the many many many people that submitted screenplays!!

Aaaaaaah!

So fun, right?

Plus, at this three-day event again in June 11 through the 13th, on June 12 they are going to do a public reading of parts of the script during the film festival!

They are hiring professional actors to perform my work on stage!

Groovy, baby! (I just had to throw in a little Austin Powers there!)

Super Groovy, baby!!!

So I hope that you’ll all be able to make it to the Broad Humor Film Festival on June 11 through the 13th in Venice, California!

It’s going to be a blast!
