Blogs about: Pictures

There’s the written word — complex, eloquent, but yet, somehow lacking. Then there’s pictures. In the mere nano-seconds it takes to view one photo, you’ve got the equivalent of 1,000 words, or so they say. Amazing, no? So is it any wonder that web users ’round the world are sharing their lives via photos? It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Pants on the Ground
Crystal Bay Mentions

I haven’t posted a blog in over two week.  This isn’t due to me having nothing to say (fat chance).  It’s due in part to my job hunting,  and having a very busy schedule with my other projects.    During my two weeks downtime I have thought alot about this whole issue of pants on the ground..   Firstly, I am disgusted!  That’s my initial impression and emotion.  Who wants to see someone elses butt or underwear!!!????  Ughhhhh!  I dont’ care how you dress it up, it is plain nasty…NASTY!!!!! This is from ghetthredhotpants.com After seeing these real images of young men especially, particularly the younger men,and  those like my sons who have futures wearing their pants like this, I get more and more concerned  because it is not a good image at all. Mothers need to be speaking out against this autrocity.  In my house I do!  I don’t like it and I do not encourage it.  I don’t allow other kids to come to my house dressed like that either.  I h

Alice through the Macro Lens

I think this post epitomises the reason I became so fascinated by the world through a macro lens. This little chap is apparently “very common” according to my little book of Nature – but, as usual, I have never noticed one before today. Neither, as it happened, had anyone I showed the picture to. Not unexpectedly, it is commonly known as a Zebra Spider, and there he was, along with several little mates, wandering around an old Buddleia tree outside the garden.       © Alice through the Macro Lens [2012]

Alaska – Gravel, Grandeur & Goofy Grins (Part 9)
ride2adventure

Wild animals, humans and motorcycles thoroughly mixed and mingled, it was time to make our way towards Seward.  On our way out of the wildlife park we came upon a rather wheezy looking caribou.  With  his head hanging low in an apparent weakened display of age and surrender, his impressive rack still was over the top of my head.  I stopped my bike beside him to take a picture and to give him the “oh you poor old boy” condolences when suddenly his head popped up.  He stiffened, snorted angrily and took a quick step towards me as to say “get lost or I’ll trample you into little pieces of Alaskan tundra.”  I was really started, nearly dropped my camera and almost fell off my bike.  OK then.  Note to self, old Alaskan caribou can still kick butt.  Give them a wide berth because they can be quite cranky.  Got it.  Oh, and luckily for me, Kim was behind me a fair bit and she saw nothing.  My dented male ego was to remain somewhat intact. With that, we (actually

What I Wore to Work Today: May 22, 2012 Shirt: Goodwill, $1 Thursday Skirt: Goodwill, shortened Shoes: Target Watch: Target I hadn’t gone to the $1 day at Goodwill since last year and I found a few delightful pieces to expand my shrinking wardrobe. This shirt reminds me of my 80s childhood for some reason, something about the stripes and the pink and the wide neckline even though I don’t recall wearing anything like it during my actual 80s childhood.

New York City!

My friend is moving to Switzerland next week on Tuesday. She will be missed! :’C  I wanted to take her to the city since she really hasn’t explored it before. Stumbled upon really cool street art. Erik was really upset when we found out that his favorite store, Irregular Choice, was out of business..

We left Bermuda today, and it was a full day at sea as we headed towards Boston, Massachusetts.   I love that you can see the curve of the Earth in this picture.

Eating Healthy on Vacation
thefashionspine

Vacations are used, more often than not, as an excuse to let go of that diet and enjoy yourself! Sure you should enjoy yourself while taking a break from life, but don’t forget about that hot bod you’ve worked so hard for! Road trips and airports tend to consist of greasy fries, fattening burgers, and lots of soft drinks. First things first, always drink water! Nearly all places have at least one healthy option. The hardest part is actually ordering the meal. But once you’ve ordered the healthy choice, all you can do is eat it! Sometimes the last thing you want is a salad when everyone around you is stuffing their face with carbs. My advice is to order a healthy wrap so you get the same full feeling. If you don’t like wraps, order a piece of grilled chicken or samon and a side of fruit, salad, or veggies. Always see what the healthy menu has to offer! Once you order the right thing, it’s smooth sailing from there! Don’t forget to have a snack along t
