JLo falls onstage...then pops up and keeps it moving

Last night,Dick Clark and ABC television hosted the annual American Music Awards, where all kind of crazy and cool happenings went on,and Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert still stood out.

I like it how every year some new act feels the need to shock and push the limits of the public morals to the breaking point, and this year the winner for that category is Adam Lambert.

Adam,the runner-up for last seasons American Idol competition,decided to out do Katy Perry who kissed a girl, or at least had a hit record about it, by kissing a guy on stage.

And, as if that was not enough to get his point across, he then grabbed a male dancer, and had him kiss,…or do something like that, to his crotch. Many guys have done this on stage before,except with women.

I think the best one was that awards show on Spike TV hosted by Jamie Foxx,when he grabbed Halle Berry’s nice behind and laid a good kiss on her…remember that.

…Oh yeah…as usual,like clockwork…Lady Gaga got down!…she is the most interesting performer out there currently, and whenever she performs…I simply can not take my eyes off of her,because of her performances.

She has way more concept than the rest of her fellow performers,and I can tell she is having a big influence on others stage shows. Good going Gaga….

 My adorable little brother laying on the floor with all of his new clothes. He was surprisingly excited about his clothes.

starting last thursday i managed to gogo dance at nc 17 after playing a concert, go to rehearsal at 10 am the next day, go to a doctors appointment that afternoon, then work at trash the following night. astoundingly i felt great throughout, but i’ve been a zombie for the past 3 days. i guess i’m not invinceable.
i want more pink lingerie.

on saturday i figured out that charcoal is the solution to all my problems with drawing.

i’m going to boston for literally a day this week. catching the early morning fung wah after i dance at glamdammit on wednesday night, then coming back in time to play the autodrone show on friday (mercury lounge 10 pm!!). i probably wouldn’t bother to go except that my sis from another miss is going to be in natick!

i’m still tired…i’m gonna sit around and not practice for the evening i think. my legs are screaming “DON’T MAKE ME MOVE, BITCH!”

Just a quick recipe for tonight.  I made a loaf of this at lunchtime to go with soup, and it was gorgeous. David loved it: I think he ate more than I did!

Damper is an Australian bread, traditionally cooked over an open fire.  The quantities I use make a small loaf, just right for the three of us. I reduced salt because David was eating it, and we very rarely add salt to anything now. It’s edible cold, but it’s best almost straight from the oven, in buttery chunks.

Ingredients
2 cups self-raising flour
pinch salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp room-temperature butter
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup water
chopped chives/ dried mixed herbs to taste (I used about a tablespoon)

Method

Sift the dry ingredients together into a bowl.
Add the butter and rub between fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Mix in chives and herbs.
Make a well in the flour mixture, and add the milk and the water. Mix together until a dough is formed.
Turn the dough out onto a floury surface, and knead until silky.
Form into a round loaf and cut a deep cross in the top.
Bake for 20 minutes at 200C, then reduce oven temperature to 180C and bake for another 10-15 minutes until done.

How do you tell it’s done? Pick it up (with oven gloves on!) and tap the bottom. If it’s cooked it’ll make a hollow sound.

Serve warm with butter.

Jon Lovitz reminds me too much of my father, but I would totally tumble for every single one of the other cast members of the movie ¡Three Amigos! (1986), directed by John Landis.

A great sense of humor is super key for me in a man. It suggests a spirit of fun and spontaneity. If a man can make me laugh, I am ten thousand percent more attracted to him than if he was some societally-standard, good-looking but overly serious twat. Someone who really throws back their head and laughs, who can forget themself in the heat of a conversation and really be lost in enjoyment — that is a great quality in a human being. It puts me at ease and fosters a sense of camarederie.

I used to date this guy when I lived in Southern California that I think thought it was his mission in life to correct me. He would listen to me tell a joke or deliberately exaggerate as part of a humorous bit, then patiently explain to me at length how what I said could never be true, or how I was overstating it. Well, of course it (it being whatever my premise had been) could not really be so, or could never be so to that great of a degree. That’s why it was funny to say it. I will never understand what he saw in me, if he so obviously took issue with what I consider to be my most overriding feature, my general inability to take life seriously for more than ten minutes in a row, but eventually I broke up with him and managed to make it stick (the first couple times were false starts — I have a will made more of feathers than of iron). We just were not compatible. Shock ending, right?

Anyway, if you have lived a full life up until today but somehow missed this movie, don’t panic: you can still buy it on DVD (not Blu-Ray yet), rent it, or even watch clips from it over on the hulu! It features Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short as silent film stars who end up being mistaken for real gunslingers and get involved in a real dispute south of the border between the Mexican village of Santa Poco and a dangerous crime boss named El Guapo. Phil Hartman and Jon Lovitz play the greedy studio bosses back in Hollywood.

The most shocking and interesting feature for me about Terre Tucker, Miss November 1963, is her real age at the time she posed for Playboy: the article that acommpanied her pictorial states she was 19, but it would seem there is some controversy around that figure.

This take-life-as-she-finds-it girl is umber-tressed Terre Tucker, our November Playmate, an emerald-eyed 19-year-old who ripened under Arizona sunshine and emigrated to Chicago via Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. (“Fair deal,” Playboy, November 1963)

Despite the fairly lengthy work history she cites in her interview as a stewardess, model, and even a bunny at the Chicago Playboy club, it has been suggested that when she posed for the magazine in 1963, she allegedly was only 15. I don’t see how she could have done all that other stuff and only be 15, but I’m not really sure about these pictures now. I think I’m going to have to be selective about which ones I put up, cause I feel like this situation is just too iffy and skeevy.

I got that as-yet unsubstantiated information from Terre’s wiki entry, which contains this lengthy and I assume so-far unedited addendum from a person claiming to be her old friend and former roommate, who gives his name as Dave Nestor:

It needs to be pointed out that Terre Tucker is a fictitious name and history. Terre’s real name was Karen Smith, born to a large family of siblings in July 1948, in Chicago.

Surprisingly, Karen was only 15 years old when she posed for Playboy in June, 1963, turning 16 the following month. After a short training assignment in Chicago, Karen transferred to the Lake Geneva Playboy Club in Wisconsin. She then went on to work in Memphis, St. Louis and finally making her way to the Seattle area.

Karen was a very close friend who lived with me in a suburb of Seattle in 1972. When we met, she was recovering from cervical cancer which was pronounced cured after 5 years. Everyone who met Karen, immediately fell in love with this funny, interesting, beautiful and very sexy person. After meeting her 16-year old sister, be assured, these features run in her family.

(Mr. Nestor, you seem like a nice person, and I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but you might want to really take that part about her teenaged sister out, because it can be construed as slightly creepy.)

Among other business ventures, Karen was in great demand at car and boat shows where she signed autographs and posed for photos as Terre Tucker, throughout the 1970s and 80s.

Unfortunately, cancer returned in the late 1980s. Karen passed just before Christmas in 1990 and is survived by a son and daughter who shall remain anonymous.

We had our first ever family pictures taken this weekend, and I LOVE THEM!

Right now, I am waiting for the CD to come in the mail.  I should have it tomorrow….right now, all the pics I have are stamped “PROOF” across the middle.

Our latest addition to the iTunes App Store, MonoPhix Monochrome App for iPhone is getting an update within the next weeks. It’s the first of the -Phix apps that will be updated to version v2.0. But MonoPhix carries this tag with pride bringing a total of 15 changes and new features.

In MonoPhix 2.0, iphoneographers will be able to control the output of their Monochrome pictures completely. Where other apps only enable you to change the contrast settings, MonoPhix v2.0 will enable you to set highlights and shadow intensity. In this way you can make simple grayscale images with incredibly bright clear parts or adjust the sliders to make beautiful Monochrome images of pictures taken in all conditions. All changes can be previewed using a thumbnail.

Another major change is the absence of the Hard Mono and normal Grayscale features, these can now be accomplished by setting the slider in the right position with or without a little help from 4 preset settings. The missing buttons have been replaced by buttons to enable Sepia and Antique filters using the same depth and sliders which you use to make monochrome images.

Other changes include a significantly smaller filesize, a more logical save dialog and faster Monochrome filters provided by a major upgrade to the MonoCore engine.

Music: Pixies – Something Against You

He reeks of death.  But death is his trade and he has a taste for it.  Yet he’s never “killed in hot blood” before, never killed in war.

As Mord, the royal executioner and ally to King Richard III (Basil Rathbone), Karloff personifies the cruel representation of political violence behind the throne, the workmanlike brute force that does his master’s bidding to preserve the peace.

Mord may hide behind the throne, but Karloff’s gleefully morbid turn is nakedly, aggressively terrifying.  He is the prototypical executioner, the death dealer of our childhood nightmares.  The first moment we see the powerfully built but cadaverous looking Mord–hunched over his grinding wheel, sharpening his oversize axe with a black raven perched on his shoulder–it’s like watching Cain himself readying the next murder.  But where Cain acted impulsively, emotionally… Mord is pure professional.  There is little overt art to his blood-letting, hence why he yearns for something a little more exciting, creative, arousing.  Karloff is almost touching as he pleads to Rathbone to take him into battle.  Warfare must be a wonderful, crimson bounty for a man like Mord.  The opportunities for passion are no doubt endless.  God knows how energized Mord will be when he returns from murder on such scale.

The designer shows you the mockup of your site and everything is wonderful- except the photos.

Don’t get upset. Most images are stock photography and can be switched out. They are placed into the design because the designer doesn’t have any images from you to use.  Give them good photography to use and they will be happy to switch the stock photos out and place your photos in the design.

What if I don’t have photos?

There are plenty of sites out there that offer photos. iStock being one of many. Your web designer can generally give you a list of ones that they think will have the best selection for you to look through.

They cost… can I just give you photos I took?

The pictures on these sites are taken by people who do photography for a living. Photographers think about lighting, angle, pose, lenses, and a million other things when they take a picture. They also have the proper tools to make a picture look its best. If you want your site to look good, use professional photography. Sometimes to have to give a little in order to get a lot.

Well, there’s good photography in the design now, but it has this huge watermark across it…

That is because the designer has not bought the image. The designer doesn’t know if you want that image, or if you are going to give him/her images at a later date. Why waste money on something that you’re not going to use? If you like the image and want to keep it, then tell the designer and buy the image. Then the watermark will be gone.

GOOD PRACTICES

1. If you have photos that you would like on your website- the best practice is to give them to your web designer when you’re first discussing the design. If you have pictures that you want as main images- tell your designer which ones.

2. If you don’t have images immediately, expect your designer to use stock images for the mockup design. Get your actual images to the designer as soon as possible.

3. Tell your designer up front if you don’t have images whatsoever and can’t hire a photographer. They’ll be happy to direct you to some photo sites. Just remember that you will still have to pay for the images.
