I don’t know about anyone else but a story that was probably started in someones head on the internet has been saturated beyond belief now. I get Google Alerts all day everyday if a story about Johnny pops up and the last 3 days OMG! It has been a non stop deluge of stories about sex scenes or should I say “possible” sex scenes that “may” happen between Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie IF the rumors are true about them both doing the movie The Tourist which apparently has had serious issues with getting off the ground. So really the likelihood of this actually being true…. probably “slim and none”.

First of all Johnny has so many projects lined up squeezing another in is almost impossible.. Second… I may be in the minority but I just can’t see and don’t really want to see a pairing of Johnny and Jolie. Johnny being one of the most non public people (meaning he doesn’t like the attention would rather be just treated like everyone else) thinking about doing a film with someone that seems to want to be the center of attention and drags her children in it too is just weird… I think..
The news wire on the internet is like a huge regurgitating monster!! I think anyone can start anything.. rumor wise and within a 5 hour period it will start to multiply worse then rabbits and pretty soon it’s all you can hear about someone!! 2 days ago a small “rumor” started about Jolie and Depp signing up for this movie… today.. it’s the only google alert out there!!! So far I have not read anything that denies or confirms by Depp’s camp.. I for one.. no matter that I am always happy to see him on the big screen… don’t want this to come to fruition… at least not with Angelina Jolie…. Maybe Vanessa could do it… ?? Just a thought……………….
Most amazing thing.. I just saw on MSN.com that they too are buying into what is up to this point.. still a rumor.. Nothing has been verified by the Depp camp. The she said he said mentality just doesn’t fly if you are supposed to be reporting the “news”.

Hello munchkins and thropps, In the words of Hector Barbossa - “I’ve a venture underway

Hello munchkins and thropps,

In the words of Hector Barbossa -

“I’ve a venture underway and I find myself in need of a ship and a crew”

Actually, you can keep your ships and crews to yourselves. No, wait, I would like a ship. I could then fulfill one of my life’s dreams (to swing around a ship on ropes ala Rheepicheep in the BBC production of Dawn Treader, and lean out over the bow ala Russell Crowe in Master and Commander and so on.)

MOVING ON!

If you’re interested in being a member of cast/crew/equippment providers, then please email me, with ‘House of Bread’ as the subject. (For once, that’s not a random subject choice, it’s the title of the film. Don’t worry, the film has nothing to do with bakeries. In fact, it has nothing to do with bread at all, and very little to do with houses.)

Before you all zip off an email of interest, there’s a few things you will need…

You will need to have decent amounts of free-time over the next two weeks for filming. Preferably all of you free on the same day, to get it all out of the way, but shooting can easily be done in small clumps. So just decent amounts of free-time will suffice.

I’m not a Cranky Director, but you will need a certain degree of patience. I’m not great at getting my actors’ performances to align with my project visions, that’s all. So be prepared to bear with me.

This film is Christian. Those involved will be seen as upholding Christian views. If you have a problem with Christianity, you probably don’t want to be involved.

This film will be broadcast on youtube, and probably in other public locations. You’ll have to be okay with this. (Pseudonyms may be used.)

That’s all! There’s not even a large amount of acting required, so if you don’t fancy yourself an oscar-winning performer, then that’s no problem. In fact, please apply!! I’d love to have you!!

I look forward to being inundated with applications, my muppets!!

Who else has style that embodies that of a bohemian pirate with a touch of gentleman charm mixed all together and topped with a pinch of French artistry circa 1850? Johnny Depp, of course!

I absolutely love this man as an actor and a person with great “individual” style. Some of you are like…he’s sloppy, he looks dirty, lalalalala. I really don’t care what you people think because you have no style! Sorry, but if you can’t see it, then there are many things that go unnoticed by you. Facts! I may have gotten a wee bit touchy back there, my bad, but I’m infatuated with Johnny boy and not just his style! We heart him and that’s what it is! Congrats Johnny on making number trois. Kisses..

Vanessa, watch you back! I kid…I kid

November 21, 2009

Dear readers,

“Nine” looks incredible, especially the visual aspect of it, because really, what can you find out from a movie trailer but the basic plot and how good a movie looks?

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that the man who made this is going to make PotC 4. It’s a pick that’s seemingly out of nowhere, but makes me hopeful (and apprehensive).

Plus, PotC fans are so used to Gore Verbinski, especially on the special features. “Same thing only better please.” We’ll miss him for sure.

Nostalgia to the MAX.

Love,
Katherine

P.S. “Check the gate.”

P.P.S. A comment on imdb points out that it may be difficult for Marshall to have the same enthusiasm and dedication as Verbinski did to the series. I can see their point – the original cast and crew was there from the beginning, back when it was not expected to make much money. It seemed like a family committed to an insane, impossible project. Now that its turned into a franchise behemoth, it is kind of difficult imagining Rob Marshall having that same blind enthusiasm that Gore Verbinski had.

TOFFPOX: Prudence! What kind of person drinks rum? PRUDENCE: …A person who wants to get drunk?

TOFFPOX: Prudence! What kind of person drinks rum?
PRUDENCE: …A person who wants to get drunk?
TOFFPOX: No! Yes! I mean – what sort of rogue is usually associated with rum?
PRUDENCE: …Johnny Depp?
TOFFPOX: …Who?
PRUDENCE: Johnny Depp, the local barman.
TOFFPOX: (disdainfully) “Johnny Depp, the local barman”?
PRUDENCE: Yes – well, if you told me to say the first thing that comes into my head when you say “rum”, I would say “Johnny Depp”, because he’s the local barman, and serves alcohol, including rum, so, yes, he’s the sort of rogue that I would associate with –
TOFFPOX: No, no, Prudence, you’re missing my point –
PRUDENCE: Which is?
TOFFPOX: Pirates! Pirates drink rum!
PRUDENCE: …And?
TOFFPOX: We could dress up as pirates and run away to sea!

First night of Fairytale Shorts – ten minute fairytale adaptations/devised pieces performed by the uni’s drama society – went well. My short, “Scurvy Curs: A Delightful Tale of Whimsy”, about two ladies who seek adventure as a badly-disguised male pirate and a parrot named Nobstradamus, went down well. I am extremely pleased with the audience’s reaction to the whole thing. Pirates having an orgy to the tunes of “Love Shack”, a maid with a feather duster wound into a coathanger and worn as a headdress and the crew dancing around the stage to “Why Is The Rum Gone?” seem to go down well with people my age and older, which excites me. I’m glad I wasn’t just writing stuff that I thought was hysterically funny and alienated everybody else. AND they laughed a lot at my character, which I suspect is because of the highly nasal voice and the glasses perched on the end of my nose. I love Bluster. She’s insane.

COCKSWAIN: Do ye swear by the sword that ye really be a scurvy cur and yer true callin’ be to run through bluejackets and lobsters?
BLUSTER: Are you averse to killing naval officers of any sort?
TOFFPOX: No.
BLUSTER: No.
COCKSWAIN: And be ye true to the sweet trade until ye find yeself in Davy Jones’s locker?
BLUSTER: Will you be a pirate until you cop it?
TOFFPOX: …I suppose so.
BLUSTER: Yes.

Second and final night of the performance tonight. I had a nightmare that I was forced to rewrite the entire thing and everything fell apart on the night, and I’m glad that’s not the case. (I guess now that I’ve written that, half my cast is going to fall ill or break body parts. I hope not.)

In other, more academically-focused news, I got the same mark in both my first essays for this year: THREE MARKS short of a first. I started out on a trip of self-loathing once more, until my seminar tutor told me that actually, it’s really good at this stage, and next time I can work towards a first. I am very happy indeed. I got a couple of firsts last year, which don’t count towards my degree mark, but I hope to repeat the performance again. It’s very odd. I’m used to A*s in all my English pieces of work, so not getting a first kind of equated to getting a B. You won’t really appreciate this until you know that, consistently throughout my school life, I have been achieving among the highest marks in the year in everything to do with English. It was that one subject that I never ever really tried hard at but enjoyed and got high marks in anyway. Science and Maths? Bollocks to them.

I leave you with this most important moral message from my play:
BLUSTER: And disregarding the danger of STDs, they all lived happily ever after. Remember girls, you CAN do anything, but you WILL end up as a sexual object anyway!

I’m not sure exactly how many films I’ve seen in my lifetime.

It is probably over a thousand, the list below barely scratches the surface of all the films I’ve seen and it was surprisingly easy to come up with. Rather than systematically list films by era or genre I got my brother’s girlfriend Dawn to call out any films she could think of.

I thought of this idea about five minutes before I began typing and Dawn rattled off films as they came to her while I typed out brief verdicts for each one. I initially intended to create a system for rating but found it too restrictive so I just wrote a brief instinctual verdict for each one.

I have included a link to Rotten Tomatoes and the score of each film, I haven’t seen some of these movies in a very long time…

NOTE: The percentages at the end are not my scores but the percentage of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

There is so much more to a man being “sexy” then the way he looks. A truly sexy man has more layers and more qualities other then being gorgeous. Some of them all they have to do it open their mouth and sexy leaves the room!! Not sure why People Magazine has such a bad track record on the Sexiest Man Alive issue.. They have only been right twice so far as long as they have been doing it.
Johnny Depp has been chosen this year to make him one of three that have been chosen twice… Now the question is… WHY WHY WHY were the other two chosen twice before Johnny? Are they basically oblivious? I mean I really like George Clooney.. he’s great, Brad Pitt.. yeah.. very nice… But JOHNNY is the WHOLE package.. totally.. He is a sweet, humble, talented, gracious, loving, family man, smart, AND funny. And to top it all off.. ain’t too bad to look at either which is just a cherry on top..

To a “few” of us.. Johnny has been #1 for a very very long time.. and doesn’t appear that it is going to change…. ever…

Just one girls opinion…… hahaha!!!

Gave myself a little expensive treat after the crazy week.
From left to right: Modern Warfare 2 for PS3, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season Two and Lost Season Five (both having just been shipped), and also Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End. Rug not included. Almost completely wiped my savings, but it was worth it.
I’ve actually had Modern Warfare 2 for a couple days now, beat the Campaign and all, and I can tell you it’s amazing. Try it out if you haven’t, you owe yourself at least that much.

This is an unusual crossover, being just a really good, long story set more in the world of POTC than simply messing around with Captain Jack. Martha and the Doctor wind up trapped aboard the Flying Dutchman. The Doctor escapes, but can Martha? Unfortunately it seems likely to stay unfinished, but the better part of it is here and it’s worth a mention, nonetheless.

For all you ladies out there, get excited! Johnny Depp has been named People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’.

Anybody know if they have a ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ issue? I’d love to see Carrie Underwood on the cover

From CNN:

Bringing the fun with him wherever he goes — whether it’s onscreen in fizzy roles like Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise or at home with his family on their private Bahamian island — is just one reason why Depp, who also scored the honor in 2003, has joined an elite club of two-time SMA title holders (only Brad PittGeorge Clooney have matched the feat). and

At 46, the father of two still reigns as Hollywood’s most irresistible iconoclast; as one-of-a-kind as his beloved 15-year-old boots and as smoldering as his favorite Cuban cigars.

Nu är det klart och rykten besannas därmed – “Chicago” och “Geisha”-regissören Rob Marshall skall regissera den fjärde installationen av Pirates of the Caribbean: “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”.

Johnny Depp och Rob Marshall är också glada att kunna jobba tillsammans och ser framemot arbetet med “Pirates of the Caribbean 4″.

Själv gläder jag mig åt beskedet. Både Chicago och den första installationen av “Pirates of the Caribbean” var mycket trevliga bioupplevelser. Däremot var “Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest” en rätt splittrad upplevelse, även om den innehöll smått geniala inslag. Och “Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End” var minst sagt rörig.

Läs mer om “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” här i FilmMedia filmblogg, om filmens titel och boken den bygger på: Pirates of The Caribbean 4 – On Stranger Tides

I really believe that friends are very special and meant to be treasured and loved. Johnny Depp does

I really believe that friends are very special and meant to be treasured and loved. Johnny Depp does it in this flaky “throw away” world we seem to be living in. While most change friends, wives, and husbands as fast as you change your underwear.. easily discarding people like yesterdays garbage, Johnny still has his best friends that he has known since he was about 12!! He still is tight with them, he brings them into his projects, which all in all I think he does so he can spend time with them more then anything else.

Tim Burton is one of his best friends and Johnny and Tim’s wife Helena co-chaired an event in New York City last night at the Museum of Modern Art where they are displaying all the incredible creations that come out of Tim’s brain. Now that one is a brain you could most definitely get lost in.. and it might be scary.
But the man is pure genius, and the team of Depp-Burton has created some of the most memorable characters in the film industry. The really cool thing is it looks like this exhibit shows the beginning stages of all of their collaborations.

Johnny really seems to rally around his friends and always is careful not to upstage them when it is the friends “time” not his. He comes… he supports… he loves… They really broke the mold with him…. DAMMIT!!!!
Last month he was presenting the award to Keith Richards at the Scream Awards, few months before that he was supporting Tim at the ComiCon Event in Los Angeles.
I’m not sure if I have ever seen anyone go to the lengths he does for his friends, family and fans… his 3 F’s!
He seems to hold those three groups close to his heart and appreciates everyone and everything he has.
So many could take a page from his book that is a given.

Now that’s a headline. And it’s true. I’ll skip all the prelude details of my recent trip to Disneyland for the moment.. except to say, everyone ought to have the opportunity to experience Disneyland through the eyes of a two year old. Okay, you know I”m going to tell you more, but I’ll get to the headline story first.

On our last of five days playing in Disneyland, I decided that I must go just once more on Pirates of the Caribbean. I’d gotten to go a couple of times earlier in the trip.. Once with grandaughter Evalee and her parents.. and once with my daughter - after we realized we might have pushed the limits of what a two year old can take on scary rides, and so chose to give Evalee a break from the noisy dark spooky rides.

Those last few days however, Evalee and I were on our own.. and I simply couldn’t leave Disneyland without going on Pirates again.

So I said, “Evalee we are going on the Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a little scary, but it will be okay. We have to go because it’s Nana’s favourite ride.”

As I carried her in the line up, she said to me, “open locket”

I don’t often wear the locket but had put it on that day. Inside is a picture of my wonderful Dad who died 3 years ago. I opened the locket as instructed.

Evalee said, “Papa can come with us on Pirates!”

Do note that Evalee has probably only ever seen the locket open once before, making this even more surprising. I knew the moment she invited him, that she and Papa had conspired to make sure I knew he was nearby. Two year olds are still connected to the ‘much more than we can see’. The world hasn’t taught them yet that “it’s just your imagination” or simply said, ”don’t be silly.”

I could feel my Dad smiling as Evalee invited him on the ride. No doubt Papa would join us on what was always his favourite ride too. Whether I knew it or not, I think he would have joined us…he simply made sure I knew it. And I suspect, Evalee feels safer with him nearby on scary rides.

What happened next also surprised me. Evalee got very excited about going on the ride. As our boat headed into the pitch black before the first big drop, I calmly explained to Evalee what would happen next . Well, before we even ‘landed’ at the bottom of the drop, Evalee started to sing, “Yoho Yoho, a pirate’s life for me” She adored the whole ride and insisted we go back again!

Precious. And precious that my Dad joined us.
