Mark Meatto is the director of How To Grow A Band, a new documentary about Chris Thile and Punch Brothers that Paste Magazine named one of the Best Films of 2012 (So Far). This was his first Pitchfork Music Festival, and he provided images for our wordy review of the fest, posted yesterday. He’s never seen so many Scottie Pippen jerseys in one place.

JAPANDROIDS AND CHROMATICS ADDED TO PITCHFORK LINE UP!

Japandroids and Chromatics have been added to Pitchfork Music Festival 2012, which returns to Chicago’s Union Park from the 13th – 15th July.

They join a lineup that already includes Beach House, Vampire Weekend, Feist, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells, Dirty Projectors, Flying Lotus, AraabMUZIK, A$AP Rocky and many, many, many more. Japandroids will perform on Friday 13th July, while Chromatics will perform on Saturday 14th July.

In case you missed it, three-day passes for the festival have sold out. Thanks to everybody who purchased! Individual day tickets are on sale now right here, but hurry, because they’re going fast. Remember: ticket prices have not been raised this year. Individual day tickets cost $45.

Joining the already amazing list of bands will be Beach House, Wild Flag, Real Estate, Atlas Sound, Big K.R.I.T., Nicolas Jaar, Cults, Chavez, Ty Segall, Oneohtrix Point Never, Youth Lagoon, Thee Oh Sees, King Krule, Lotus Plaza, Dirty Beaches, Lower Dens, Milk Music, the Psychic Paramount, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Outer Minds, and A Lull.

The lineup for the fest, which returns to Chicago’s Union Park July 13-15, now includes Sleigh Bells, Dirty Projectors, Flying Lotus, Danny Brown, Clams Casino, the Olivia Tremor Control, Iceage, Purity Ring, The Men, Schoolboy Q, and the Atlas Moth.

Cloud Nothings will play on Pitchfork Festival 2012. Nice.

So, Pitchfork has already announced the initial lineup for their upcoming music festival this summer 2012, last Tuesday. And, apparently, I missed the announcement. Good thing that a lot of people at work keeps an eye on this stuff, and they duly informed me of who’s playing. Here’s the list of the acts:

So far, I don’t know if I’ll be going yet. From the list, I only want to see Cloud Nothings, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Liturgy (WTF! A black metal band on Pitchfest?). Okay, maybe Vampire Weekend and Hot Chip too. But I want to see more bands on their lineup before I decide getting a three-day ticket. I hope to see Hospitality, Real Estate, Yuck and Wye Oak on their lineup.

Anyways, here’s a song from Cloud Nothings. It might explain why I really want to see them…or maybe not.

Pitchfork has announced the initial lineup for the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival, to be held in Chicago’s Union Park on July 13-15. Tickets go on sale March 9th at 10am PST, and they’ll set you back $110 for a three-day pass, or $45 for singles. In addition to the names below, Pitchfork have promised over 30 more acts to be added to the lineup.
