It is possible with the newest canon photo printers. At first we thought it was hard, or expensive, but Canon Pixma PRO9000MkII Inkjet Photo Printer completely changed our minds. So, what’s good and bad about it?

Pros :

Fast – This printer spits out a vibrant and full of color 13×19 glossy print in under 3 minutes 30 seconds.

Quiet – I can print at all hours of the night and not worry about waking anyone up. When Im in the next room with the door open the printer prints so quiet I cant even hear it and have to come check on the print job to make sure it didnt crash since I cant hear any noise in the next room..lol

Quality – Prints professional quality prints on a variety of papers in many different sizes.

Paper – You ARE NOT limited to Canon papers as you can use a bunch of other manufacturers papers. My Favorite thus far is Ilford (cheap from amazon and is basically identical to expensive Canon paper).

Ink Usuage – Good on ink, Not really an ink guzzler. I printed dozens and dozens of 4×6’s and even a bunch of 8×11’s and 13×19s and the ink kept going and going, until I finaly started running low (after many prints had been printed).

Cons :

B&W printing – Prints mediocre black and white prints. This is no secret and I knew this before I bought it. I dont care about black and white prints just color so its all good for me.

Size – This is a big mamma-jamma. You will have to dedicate a space to this thing because of its width.

CD Printing – The US version of this printer does not print to CD’s at all and there are no hacks that enable the CD printing feature (Like with the Pixma Pro 9000). If you need CD printing, just print to photo quality CD labels.

Overal: This is a fantastic buy. If you need professional quality color prints done in house you will surely love this printer. Canon outdid itself with this model…

Setting Up Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mk II and Adobe Lightroom for Printing

Edit 27-Sep-2009: I’m getting close to the settings I want but I’m not yet there so I will keep updating this entry whenever I do changes to my setup.

I have just recently installed Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mk II photo printer to Windows XP + Adobe Lightroom 2.5 setup and here’s what I found relevant during the process.

Printer and Pinter Driver Setup
Pixma Pro9500 Mk II printing setup is described well in the On Screen Manual that is installed to your computer at the same time as the drivers and other software. See Digitail Photo Printing Guide / Printing from Computers / Printing from Other Applications / Case 2 Printing by Specifying an ICC profile within the Application.

Lightroom Setup
Lightroom specific things I learned from this article from Inside Lightroom blog. Use “Other” (=select profile for your printer and paper) instead of “Managed by Printer”

Monitor Setup

Calibrate your monitor. The linked article lists Spyder products that are pretty popular but there are also other choices available.

Brightness of many monitors needs to be much lower than it is by default and it is a setting that typically needs to be adjusted manually before the calibration. Depending on a source, the luminance of your monitor should be somewhere between 90-160cd/m2. Calibration software should be able to tell your luminance value.

Issues
Selected ICC profile must match your printer, ink and paper.

Based on what I read on discussion forums, the most common mistake is to let both the application and the printer driver to manage colors. Only one of them should do the management and in this blog entry the responsibility has given to the application (=Lightroom) as then you have more control.

Another common problem is that prints are too dark and there can be several reasons for that. Check if the prints are too dark also with the printing application that came with the printer and/or another application that manages colors like photoshop. I didn’t have this problem so google to find solutions. Many monitors are too bright by default so brightness must be lowered before monitor calibration.

You can’t see exactly what the final print is supposed to look from Lightroom. Photoshop has softproofing that simulates on the screen how the ICC profile, printer and used paper will change the photo but this function is not available in Lightroom.

Das Netzteil lässt sich ohne Werkzeug, ein Flachschraubendreher hilft allerdings etwas, austauschen. Am besten vorher die Tintenpatronen enfernen sonst kann es sein, das die auslaufen…Netzstecker ziehen und Gerät umdrehen.

Beide Klammern (siehe Pfeile) lösen und Netzteil einfach rausziehen. Beachten Sie bitte, das da noch ein Kabel mit dran ist.

A. Harus cek dulu Printer dalam keadaan normal siap reset atau belum.

Apakah terjadi blinkking (lampu indikator berkedip-kedip) ? kalau terjadi blinking harus di normalkan dulu… reset software nggak akan bisa mengirimkan data ke printer jadi percuma saja di reset ribuan kali. Bikin capek dan malah tambah pusing.

tinta habis, —- maka harus di isi dulu..
tinta kepenuhan, —- Maka harus di kurangi
printer tidak bisa mendeteksi keberadaan catrige, —- Catrige di bersihkan dulu… atau connector di cattrigenya berkarat, atau malah.. cattrige nya mati….wah kalo yang ini harus beli catrige baru.

Cattrige PIXMA IP1800 - IP1900

Kalo sudah diisi atau masih ada isinya (di pastikan dulu) tapi blinking. coba lakukan langkah ini.

Cabut semua kabel (kabel power dan USB) di printer.
Dalam keadaan mati tekan tombol power dan jangan di lepas sambil masukkan kabel power ke printer.( “hanya kabel Power”). maka lampu indikator di power akan menyala hijau.
Dengan posisi tombol power masih ditekan.. jari yang lain tekan tombol resume sebanyak 2 kali. tekan pertama.. lampu resume menyala oranye dan tekan ke dua.. lampu resume mati.
Sekarang lepaskan tombol power. (boleh lemaskan jari.. pegel kayaknya) dan tunggu beberapa saat.
Harusnya sekarang sudah tidak blinkking lagi. bila masih blinkking ulangi langkah pertama. Trus masukkan kabel USB dan usahakan di printer and fax pada CPU dalam keadaan atau status “ready”.

B. Nah bila sudah tidak blinking lagi kita reset waste ink-nya. caranya :

Tekan tombol Resume button dan tahan selama 1 – 2 menit ( biasanya hanya 50 detik, dan berhasil nggaknya nggak ada tanda tandanya)
Buka cover printer
Lapas catridge dan pasang kembali catridge ke tempat semula
Tutup cover printer
Turn Off (matikan printernya dan bukan di cabut kabelnya)
Turn On (hidupkan kembali printer anda)

C. Sekarang secara permanen menggunakan software reseter.

Ada triknya biarpun hang tetap masih jalan… mau tau..?

Sediakan plester atau spidol tdk permanen untuk membuat tanda di layar monitor. kalo lcd cari yang lebih aman untuk membuat tanda di monitor.

Extrak file reseter Cannon IP 1900. Cari file aplikasinya dan buat shortcut di desktop. tutup aplikasi lain.

Buka file aplikasinya yang di tandai dengan ICON bentuk seperti huruf G berwarna kuning dan sedikit pink (pada folder hasil extrak).

Tandai close windownya (kanan atas warna merah) dan close button (kanan bawah) dengan penanda tadi (spidol atau stiker atau) Kalau monitor LCD mendingan nggak usah deh..cari penanda yang lebih aman

Kalo sekarang di close nggak bisa bukan berarti hang total.. mouse masih gerak, numlock masih bisa di matikan dan di hidupkan berarti tidak hang. arahkan mouse ke tempat tanda tadi dan tekan berulang ulang sampai terclose tapi terkadang harus di refresh.

NNAAAAh sekarang resetnya…

IP1900 atau IP1980 akan terdeteksi dengan nama “IP1800ASA”.
Kalau tidak terdeteksi coba rubah setting di kanan atas pada “USB port” lalu tekan “Device ID” usahakan muncul identitas printernya di kehendaki.
Centang “Cleaning” dan “EPROM Clear” lalu tekan “Test Pattern1″ tunggu sampai muncul kertas hasil test print kmd “Test Pattern2″ kmd dst sampai “Test Pattern3″ lalu tekan “Main” dan “Platen” pada Group wasteink.
Tutup/close reseter kmd cek di printer properties apakah tinta sudah terdeteksi full, kalo belum ulangi lagi.
Usaha ini umumnya banyak kegagalan karena softwarenya sendiri yang masih mempunyai banmyak BUG di sana sini. jangan nyerah.. karena anda nggak akan berhasil. Rata rata 4-5 kali baru kita bisa berhasil tapi ada yang berulang ulang tidak berhasil, banyak faktornya dari segi User tersebut mempunyai cukup pengalaman dan tidak punya basic teknisi atau tidak, pikiran fresh atau di kejar waktu, dsb.
kalo sudah matikan printer (bukan di cabut kabelnya). Kmd hidupkan lagi.

kalo terkena tinta. kalau masih bisa di tolong, ukup di bersihkan saja, kalau parah kemungkinan head mati.

3. tinta kepenuhan menyebabkan chipset cattrige di dalam terendam tinta (sil-nya bocor) terjadi consleting dalam head.
solusi : kurangi dengan sedot kembali mungkin belom terlalu parah. kalau sudah banyak rembesanya. akan sangat sulit sekali.

4. head mati. wah yang ini harus beli baru atau pinjam temen untuk aproval. bahwa rumah head tidak ada masalah. cek dengan hati hati.

Analisa di atas dapat di kembangkan sendiri untuk solusinya. sebaiknya harus orang yang berengalaman. Resiko apapun kami tidak bertanggung jawab.

Install Printer Canon PIXMA iP1980 in Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope

Before you install the printer Canon PIXMA ip1980 on Linux Operating System Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope, make sure that you already have a driver’s from the Canon Sites. Software is provided by the canon developer in 2 format different (. deb and. rpm).

Select the file .deb and follow the instructions on the screen and appear Debian Linux Printer Driver, Downloads lived only driver package [iP1900_debian_printer.tar].

After the download package, extract it using the command:

tar-xf iP1900_debian_printer.tar

now check the results extract the file with the command

ls

make sure the results are as follows:

Cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
Cnijfilter-common-3.00-1.tar.gz
Cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb

Immediately install the .deb package using the command

Sudo dpkg-i *. deb cnijfilter -

[cnijfilter-*. deb] means the command is installation at once all debian packages are named prefix cnijfilter and contain the name cnijfilter.

Wow, there was a problem package depedency need to configure and more:

La vostra scansione una volta va a buon fine e tre volte no? Avete provato tutto?

Vi riassumo il concetto di tutto:

Attacca e stacca (si, come le figurine, ma coi cavi);
Modificare i dpi;
Modificare il formato di salvataggio;
Modificare le impostazioni avanzate anche se non avete capito bene cos’avete toccato;
Reinstallato XSane;
Modificato le impostazioni post produzione;
Driver dello scanner/multifunzione;
Chi più ne ha più ne metta.

Vi spiego come ho risolto:

Dalla finestra anteprima, trascinate i contorni per rimpicciolire l’area da scansionare in modo che nessuna linea tratteggiata (i margini della scansione) tocchi il bordo dell’anteprima. Provate prima con un riquadro di scansione piccolo, posto al centro dell’anteprima, poi allargatevi mano a mano, controllando che non vi dia più il fatidico l’errore.
