When I want to go out on a casual date with my husband, I like to look good, but don’t want to overdress the occasion.  I love these skinny jeans with some pre-worn accents.  I also love the shirt, with the ever so flattering rouching and asymmetrical cut.  The jacket is amazing, and of course, the shoes are gorgeous.  I love this look for a fun Friday night date of Dinner and mini golf!

I titled this post How the Leopard Got His Spots which is actually a book by Rudyard Kipling. Whenever I see the leopard print on anything pages of this book swim before my eyes, “Best Beloved”. When my kids were little they always asked me these crazy questions that were simply impossible to answer! Why the leopard has spots and how the zebra got stripes, why the sky is blue and where did the sun come from? How do you answer these kinds of questions without the help of our great storytellers?! The Just So stories are a superb source of stories for children to help them understand the difficult questions to which there simply are no answers, other than Mother Nature decided to make it so.

This story about the Ethiopian and the Leopard, who are friends and spend their time hunting for food together, is very interesting. The two friends figure out that they can hide in the mottled light of the forest better if they change color and add spots. The book is an amazing story and my kids wanted to hear it all the time, over and over again, nearly every night at bedtime.

When I first put on these pumps and walked out to my kitchen my daughter, who is now 23, took one look at my feet and said, “Mom, how did the leopard get his spots?” We both giggled. I don’t think they will ever forget this story and, like me, will always think about it whenever the leopard print makes and impact on clothing, shoes, my gorgeous faux fur coat (yes, I splurged last December) or the sexy little sweater dress hanging in my closet. I do not believe that there is a print that invokes more wonder and happiness than the leopard print. It sounds silly perhaps but this print takes me back to my kids bedrooms and the bedtime stories we loved so much.

‘Now you are a beauty!’ said the Ethiopian. ‘You can lie out on the bare ground and look like a heap of pebbles. You can lie out on the naked rocks and look like a piece of pudding-stone. You can lie out on a leafy branch and look like sunshine sifting through the leaves; and you can lie right across the centre of a path and look like nothing in particular. Think of that and purr!’
