Hang in there, Joey. We’re all pulling for you.

Bronson Arroyo had his first post-carpal-tunnel flare-up pitching session today, and no fooling, this is what he had to say:

“It went all right. There’s still a little numbness in there. I’d say it’s 50 percent better than it was yesterday. I’m just waiting for the (anti-inflammatory) drugs to flush through my system.”

Even though he says he’s been dealing with this since 2004, and that he hasn’t missed a start because of it yet, I’m getting worried.

It was almost a year ago when Alex Gonzalez went down with a “minor” knee injury, so now that he has a “minor” hamstring injury I’ll just go ahead and re-post what I said then since I predict a similar outcome.

Cincinnati Reds shortstop – and the guy that Dusty Baker called “one of the top shortstops in baseball to me” – Alex Gonzalez is out for at least three weeks with what doctors are calling a compression fracture of his left knee “a  day, two maybe” after “tweaking” but “not pulling” his right hamstring.

Somewhere, Barry Larkin’s phone is ringing.

I’m no doctor, but if I was I’d totally be one of those cool doctors that wears the scrubs with all of those wacky designs on them. Anyway… I’m no doctor, but a compression fracture tweaked hamstring doesn’t sound like something that’s going to get better in three weeks “a day, maybe two” with some chicken noodle soup and JELL-O.

Expect Jeff Keppinger and possibly Jerry “I Hit a 3-Run HR the Other Day” Gil Jerry Hairston Jr. to get a good, long look at SS these next few couple of weeks.
