Pra falar a verdade

Ontem a Dani Morais deixou a competição.

Deixar a Dani sair e essa guria continuar é simplesmente revoltante.

Priscila Borges é simplesmente a melhor da competição. Canta muito! E emociona.

Pra mim a melhor apresentação dela no programa.

It’s Thanksgiving, which means we are in full holiday shopping swing. I just wasted a lot of my work day because Amazon has some killer deals all week. They are calling it Great Black Friday Deals, and they aren’t kidding. You can find some amazing discounts there. I picked up I am Legend for $2.00. That’s what I’m talking about! I also picked up some new accessories for my cell phone, a case for it and a headset for calls.

Now, I have the shopping bug! I’ve already been to this site to buy some swaddling blankets. They had great deals on aden + anais muslin wraps, which are phenomenal for helping a baby sleep long. Now, I’m on the hunt for some other toys for my nieces and nephews, and I found some good deals here. They have a great selection on Playmobil toys. But instead of buying for just myself and family, I need to take care of my wife too. I was thinking of getting her some Indian jewelry. She rarely asks for anything special, but I know she really likes bangles and chandelier style earrings.

Geniet ervan!

Toys are used in play by children, adults and pets. The difference a toy has from a game is that toy play does not have clearly defined goals; that is if you do not play with my brother. Today, huge toy chains, like “Toy-R-Us,” carry a vast assortment of different toys for any age and background, covering the needs of children and parents. But while parents spend a small fortune on acquiring the latest model of their son's favorite car toy, the young boy will continue to play with the old one and although he will at the beginning be extremely happy with his new possession, the old car that misses a wheel and a door will never leave its bed.

The explanation for this type of behavior is rather simple. In fact, if you try to recall your favor

The explanation for this type of behavior is rather simple. In fact, if you try to recall your favorite toy while you were a kid, you will probably remember that its prime time had long passed, but you continued holding it in your arms as you fell asleep. Some people state that their favorite ‘toy' was not even a regular purchased toy. Any item in the house that a kid for some reason will pick up, toss in the air or play around with can become a toy. As long as children's imagination is at work, even a rubber band or a pillow can become a toy with which a child will feel a close connection.

For those gamers who are used to Lara Croft, the next-generation consoles revolutionized the way she handled. Gone were the grids, the running jumps, the aggravating camera controls. The vast improvement of the graphic, sound, and gameplay on the next-gen consoles have not gone unnoticed by fans who abandoned the game after the series' disappointing Angle of Darkness installment. But with Tomb Raider: Legend they found that Crystal Dynamics had picked up the ball where it had been dropped and run for the endzone.

Ten years after pointy-chested, polygonal Lara Croft ran, rolled, dove, and shot her way onto the video gaming stage, a new game based on Lara's exploit's in the very first Tomb Raider has been released. It was released for the PlayStation2 and the Xbox 360 in the summer of 2007, but owners of the Nintendo Wii had to wait until this week to get their hands on the diva of the video-gaming world.

While Tomb Raider Anniversary is dubbed as a remake, Crystal Dynamics has kept the environment and challenges fresh enough to warrant the game its own status. The environment and stories are generally the same as the first game, but if you're expecting a 1-to-1 update of the first Tomb Raider, you're going to be disappointed. In Tomb Raider Anniversary, Lara jumps, dives, and shoots her way through Peru, Greece, Egypt, and the lost island of Atlantis in pursuit of the three pieces of the mysterious Scion.

Some areas of the game have been expanded, and some have been tightened up, but the balance that players will probably look for is there. All the rooms, traps, and enemies you remember are there, but there's plenty of new challenges. Fans of the franchise will recognize the painstaking effort that Crystal Dynamic took to ensure that the best-loved areas from the first game were preserved faithfully. The best example of this is St. Francis Folly. The “column o' death” which Lara has to descend, gathering keys on the way down, is as close to identical to the original as players could want. The spirit (“Oh dear, I'm hundreds of feet up, hanging from a ledge and I've no idea what to do now”) is there in spades.

Other areas have been changed slightly. The “fire room” from Tomb Raider's Palace Midas has been altered slightly, giving Lara more of a challenge than just timing her jumps right. Faithful fans take heart: there's a good chance you'll have a Lara flambé at least once before you get through it.

The real story with Lara's journey to Wii is the new way you handle her. With the other next-generation systems, you still control Lara with the joysticks and cause her to interact with buttons on the controller. With the Wii, things are a little different. Players control Lara with the joystick and interact with the environment with the D-pad, but the Wii version has a whole new element: puzzles up close and personal.

Lara now has to manipulate puzzles with her hands, excavate items, and place items with precision. For instance, when placing the cogs in the machinery in the Lost Valley map, on the PS2 or Xbox 360, players simply choose it from the inventory and it will be placed automatically. On the Wii, you'll have the option of where to place which cog, causing a good deal of trial and error as the game progresses. This makes sense: Lara has never been to these environments before–how should she know what goes where?

In addition to placing objects, Lara now has to deal with complicated switches. On the PS2, you grab a switch and pull it down by pushing a single button. On the Wii, Lara may be required to work out a puzzle on the switch before she can pull it–using the new “Lara's Hands” feature. Players will use the varied Wii remotes to utilize all of Lara's features from her flashlight to her grappling hook. Players beware–the precision required by these actions may frustrate you if you haven't been playing on the Wii for long.

Further, Lara may be required to dig up objects, and on the Wii Lara comes equipped with a varied tool kit that players will have to use to excavate the item, whether it be a key or cog. Of course, shooting is also controlled by movement with the Wii remotes, giving you the feeling of being there.

With excellent graphics, beautiful sound and chilling music, and utilization of the Wii's controller style, Tomb Raider Anniversary puts you in Lara's trusty boots, short shorts, and sleeveles shirt. The new features that come with using the Wii's motion-based controllers add a whole new level of depth to the Tomb Raider franchise that fans and newcomers alike should enjoy.

Toys are not only for kids. Adults need the relaxation and the memories beloved toys can bring back to their memories. I still have in my room the Rubik's Cube which I managed only once to solve and numerous times I thought of taking off its colored rectangular stickers and placing each color on every side. I never actually did it because I was afraid of the consequences if I destroyed my fathers favorite toy. When I understood that solving the cube requires some planning and problem-solving skills, I was determined to succeed and I still remember the joyful screaming when I managed to “solve” its mystery; probably by accident. Since then, I have been catching myself thinking of my favorite old toys, like Lego and Playmobil, not very girly I know, and recapturing the times I was playing in our then common room with my brother.

Thanks to ‘The Grad Wunder’, Will Poskett, for pointing me at this. I hadn’t heard of tilt-shift time-lapse before – it’s brilliant.

This is Bathtub IV made by Keith Loutit. It’s difficult to believe that the film largely avoids the use of miniatures. I don’t know how it is all done as there’s must be some minature work with the guy being swept into the sea. Very interesting.

Here is a good description of how it works:

‘Tilt-shift lenses sit off-center of the film (or sensor) plane of your camera to produce photos with extremely limited depth of field, giving the effect of a macro shot of a tiny scene. When the effect is matched with the surreal speed boost of many stills strung together into a time-lapse movie we get the other-worldly privilege of seeing real Australian beach goers as an elaborate Playmobil scape.’

Here’s a strange guy telling you how to D.I.Y:

Surely it can’t be long before the technique is used in an ad.

Well, here we go again. I’m at yet another Chick Fil A Grand Opening, where they give away 52 value meal coupons to the first 100 people in line. At this point, more than 100 people always show up more than 24 hours before. So, they give everyone raffle tickets and you have to get lucky to make the top 100. I’m lucky #88 today! So, I have my tent pitched. I have electricity, and I have wi-fi. This is going to be a good day. As long as I stay dry, I’m in the clear. So, I get to get a day of work in and make over $300 in food coupons for my wife and I. You won’t find any Cyber Monday Deals better than that. I guarantee it.

As usual, there is a mixture of people here from all over. You start to recognize the regulars when you make it to about 10 of these openings. There are other people out there as cheap as me. There are old couples as well as young families, with all their gear, skateboards, iPods and all. What’s weird is that this opening is only 30 minutes from my house and none of my other friends showed up. Usually, we bring 10 people or so, but I’m the only one today. I think they are getting soft. Or, they are spoiled by Chick-fil-A. Not me. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.

Green toys used to mean a recycling truck here or there…or a paper maker, but now there are many toys that are either manufactured with a green mandate or promote a positive green message to kids. The biggest trend are dolls made from organic materials–not all created equal in our book. Green shouldn’t have to mean scratchy or boring in design or color. Happily we received many that found the right blend of green and whimsy! The other big category — trucks…many made of recycled materials – were a real draw to our testers. Then there are the throw back toys–my personal favorite, the wind-up FM Radio.

I actually have two younger brother-in-laws, and one of them is living with us because he goes to the college near by. Because of this, my husband’s family visits us pretty often. Sometimes they just come to hang out, and other times they drop off my even younger brother-in-law for us to babysit him while they run some errands. He’s about 8 years old and really fun to baby sit. He’s like a super genius too, which makes for some really interesting conversations with him.

When he came over this past time, he brought all of his playmobil stuff with him. It’s kind of like legos, but not. Obviously I’m not up on my popular toys for boys. I was really glad he brought it because we had no idea what to get him for Christmas this year. I think we are going to get him a playmobil hospital or something. He doesn’t have that yet, so hopefully he doesn’t get it before then. My husband loved building stuff with him when he come over, so maybe I’ll get him some of that stuff for Christmas too

I love Christmas shopping, and I can’t wait for black Friday. I always go all out for it with my mom. Then someone told me about this, and its got me intrigued. I need to look into it more to see what its about, but I think I’m going to do it. Why not, right?! I still don’t know what I want to get most people, so I need to decide that before I even do any kind of shopping. Anyway, I want to share this video with you before I get off of here. It’s from this week’s SNL and it is for sure going to make you laugh. Enjoy!

For those of you who don’t know, there is a baby in my house and it’s not mine. (Insert joke here). While it has been rumored that I have been supporting 2 kids in Seattle for years (child support is a bitch), it’s not really the case. I can thank my good friend Dave Wernz for working a tall tale that has had some legs. However, there actually is a kid in my house, and his name is Ajax.

Ajax is the son of my friends and roommates Josh and Stacy Knoechel. I got to see Ajax the day he was born and basically every day since. He gets stronger and cooler every day. Now, he’s even been in his bouncy chair that attaches to a spring on the door frame. It’s a mini crossfit workout.

With Ajax in the house, my wife loves giving him gifts. She’s already given him some aden and anais blankets, which Stacy loves. Of all of the swaddling blankets they had for him, she swears the aden and anais are the best because of how large they are. Since he is growing, the only blanket he can be swaddled with are from that 4 pack. He also has grown into his sleep sacks, which he loves. Outside of blankets, the kid has plenty of toys. There’s really no sense in buying him more because his dad is a minimalist. I’m pretty sure Josh has 7 shirts, if that. When you are living in 1 house with 2 families, there’s no other roommate I’d rather have.

Ajax has some great parents, and I can’t wait until he gets older. His training has already begun, and I’m excited to watch him grow into the likeness of his father. One day, he’ll grow up to look like this:

Each year Playmobil releases several new Advent Calendars. This year the German market saw the release of the Pony Farm (4159) and Dragonland (4160), while the export market has Police (4157) and Fairyland (4158), plus some of previous years’ sets.

Every year we try and get one or two of the calendars for ourselves. Unlike many other advent calendar products, the Playmobil ones come with a range of topical figures, animals and accessories that can be played with all year round – and definitely no lollies! (there is enough unhealthy food at Christmas time without adding more).

Our kids love opening up a little box each of the 24 days prior to Christmas and discovering what is inside – then adding it to the diorama that comes with the calendar.

The calendars are hard to find in Australia – eBay is your best bet locally.

Here at Bunyip Toys this Christmas we have a range of beautiful eeBoo advent calendars and the Playmobil Santa and Snowman figures.

There’s only 21 days til it’s time to start opening your advent calendars……

The only down side is that the pieces are easily lost – this ambulance comes with some bandages and we only have one or two left now as theres nowhere in the ambulance to keep them that they wont easily fall out.

Apart from that, this is a great toy – mine love the flashing light on the roof, and I love that it doesnt make an annoying, loud noise!!

Feature

Overview
Oh no! A child has fallen off his bike and been hurt! Within minutes, the new Playmobil Ambulance arrives at the scene with it’s blue lights flashing! The rear of the vehicle is packed full of emergency equipment, including a collapsible stretcher (that fits in the back of the Ambulance), medical drip, monitoring computers, and an oxygen canister. The Ambulance features an up-to-date vehicle design with electronic flashing lights, a removable roof, hinged front window (for easy access to the driving seat), plus rear and side opening doors! This complete playset comes with everything you see in the picture including 3 Playmobil figures.

Dus dachten we even na.

Jippie!

ed x

ps: deze playmo lijkt op mij…
