Having taken delivery of a new server in the last few days I am finding my way around SWsoft Plesk c

Having taken delivery of a new server in the last few days I am finding my way around SWsoft Plesk control panel, having last used Plesk in 2003.

The pricing for Plesk 30 domains is reasonable enough**, for it to not add too much to the cost of a server.

This new server is not memory constrained at all, but I find myself in the habit of minimising memory usage anyway.

One of the things which occurred to me was to switch off InnoDB in MySQL so as to:

Save some memory – the fewer storage engines the smaller each mysql process should be in memory.

Avoid having to worry about managing/rotating ib_logfile0 and any other InnoDB logging

Simple enough to disable InnoDB – just need to put…

skip-innodb

in the section…

[mysqld]

…in a suitable configuration file (perhaps my.cnf on your server)

All this seemed fairly straightforward to me and so I went ahead and made the change.

The first sign of trouble was the appearance of some diagnostics headings in the main area of the Plesk panel

Having a look at the server from ssh shell and trying

stopall

…then…

startall

…gave me some idea of what might be the problem:

console output

Rather than spend a lot of time investigating whether Plesk really does use InnoDB, I just re-enabled InnoDB for MySQL and restarted the container.

The problem went away

**Plesk 30 domains when included by your server provider is reasonably priced.
If you wish to purchase a domain license yourself then the cost is a bit steeper, and you might consider taking a look at HyperVM/Kloxo (or other open source offerings)

siliconhouse.net Indias Largest webhosting company since 1998,indtrouced recently

PLESK 9.2 LATEST VERISON Windows Control Panel.

http://www.siliconhouse.net/resellers/windows_resellers_nano.html

So Whats New in PLESK 9.2 Is Given Below

User-Friendly

Enhanced Interface — Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2 boasts a completely redone user interface designed to help users navigate and perform tasks quicker and easier. The most popular and important actions are available right away on the user Home Page. Navigating through Plesk is faster than ever now due to ability to select Resellers, Clients, Domains and Mail User levels via pathbar. Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2 is presented in a brand-new clear and nice Vista visual theme that combines the best elements of the most popular Parallels Plesk Panel interface skins.

Postfix Support — Postfix mail server is available to all Parallels Plesk Panel for Linux/Unix users. The long-awaited support of the immensely popular alternative to Qmail allows Parallels Plesk Panel administrators to improve the stability, security and performance of all mail-related tasks. Switching from Qmail to Postfix is quick, effortless and transparent both to the administrator and end-users.

Greylisting — Greylisting reduces the amount of unsolicited e-mail (SPAM) delivered to e-mail addresses by capitalizing on spammers’ reluctance to configure their mail servers properly. Since most spammers do not retry sending email, the greylisting initially refuses all mail from unknown sources and accepts them on a later retry. This technology can cut spam as much as 95% of spam.

Easily Provide Any Hosting Plan

Offer hundreds of applications via Application Packaging Standard Catalog — Now you can browse web applications packaged in APS Format directly from the Parallels Plesk Panel interface. Also, you can add them to the server Application Vault online without the hassles of manual uploading. These applications can be made freely available to all customers or their distribution can be restricted for provision on a per-user basis, allowing you to conveniently sell the applications according to the hosting plans you provide.

Resellers Level — The Parallels Plesk Panel user hierarchy is enriched with Reseller accounts in version 9.2. Resellers can sign up their own clients and resell Web hosting services to them, distributing available resources within the limits set by the Parallels Plesk Administrator. Resellers can also create and manage their own domains. Migrating your existing clients to resellers can be done simply following upgrade to version 9.2.

Fully Automate Your Business

Parallels Plesk Billing Integration — Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2 is fully integrated with the Parallels Plesk Billing solution, eliminating the need to find third-party billing software. Smooth navigation between provisioning and billing portions makes provisioning more efficient for hosting service providers and their customers.

Total Control Backup — Completely revised Parallels Plesk Panel Backup/Restore functionality provides users with a more powerful and flexible backup solution than ever before. Selective data backup and restoration is now a comfortable, painless, and fully controllable process. On-the-fly restoration conflict resolution offers a variety of ways to resolve issues prior to actual update of the system, thus guaranteeing success and complete control over the restoration process.

Migration Manager — Moving to the latest Parallels Plesk Panel has never been easier. Whether you are migrating from a cPanel server or from an older version of Parallels Plesk Panel, you will enjoy an easy and seamless transition to minimize your downtime.

Yesterday I have issue with plesk mail.
During the nagios setup on a pleask installed server, I noticed that all the mails which generated from the console showing the suffix localhost.localdomain. Hence it caught moved to spam mail.

My trails are,

1. First checking the mx records properly point to the server
2. Check the /etc/hosts and hostname ( etc/sysconfig/network) whether it’s correctly resolve the hostname
3. Make sure that mx record point to the “mail.myserver.com“. It must have a FQDN.
4. Verifying reverse dns lookup. I created a “PTR’ record of the server ip pointing to the “mail” host record and the server domain.
5. Verifying that smtp server is listening the port 25. Actually Plesk uses qmail smtp to send out the mail and SMTP server (Postfix) was not started during the setup time. So that I can send the mail but not receive any mails.

Finally I found a solution from thread is.

Just change the ” /var/qmail/control/me” file entry to mydomain which was set to localhost.localdomain.com

# echo "mydomain.com" > /var/qmail/control/me

restart qmail and nagios

[root@rc-042 php-5.2.9]# /etc/init.d/qmail restart
[root@rc-042 php-5.2.9]# /etc/init.d/nagios restart

How to verify qmail configured to use my domain.

# /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl | less
press the key “q” quit from window which must shows
defaulthost: (Default.) Default host name is mydomain.com.

It’s working charm after that. -:)

Note: I have spent few hours to find how the email was send out. I stopped the posfix and verified the port 25 is not listening. But it’s still sending out the mail. Lately I found Plesk is using qmail to send the mail.
