These nails are so stylish. The top picture reminds me of that story that we all read as kids about the fish with the shimmery scales. Anyway I like the look, I want to try it sometime.

That was another boring week . Finally its very warm in Poland , but I don’t like it . I rather weather when its warm , but without sun . Anyway … Like every week when its sunny I don’t like to go to school , so I’m trying to find a reason to stay at home or go somewhere else . And I found the reason !!! My friend called me if I want to help him at volunteer for 3 days . Maaan who don’t want to help someone at school hours ?
So this 2 school days were typical , I mean anoying and very boring . And then at Wednesday I’ve started “helping” at volunteer – the true is that for 3 days I was chillin’ with my buddy Saturday night I’ve spent at home ,but I should be on class party . Why I wasn’t ? Answer is simple – Mother . She thinks that party means that I will get home drunk , police gonna drive me home etc . And Sunday . My brother had birthday and my granny came with a “friend” . I went for a football practise . For me it was really short . At the begging I’ve tried to tackle RB , when I did something happened with my neck . I don’t know English name for that but now it hurts real bad . So that’s it !
Tomorrows starting new school week = time to find more reasons to stay at home ! Cya !!!!

The World’s Tallest Jesus. A statue which in the face reconstruction recalls the first ruler of Poland, Mieszko I.

Over the last two hundred years of Polish history the Catholic Church has played a pivotal role in the moral and cultural upkeep of the nation. It was the Church that taught Polish children their mother tongue when no such thing as Poland existed and it was the Catholic Church that helped to operate the anti-Communist underground. As such, Catholicism and faith are integral elements of the current, highly complex socio-cultural climate in Poland, a country, which through its massive sculptural projects conflates nation with religion – by default marking a Pole as a Catholic – yet where the Parliament’s deputes include an openly-gay lawyer and a transsexual, the first such parliamentary members in Eastern Europe.

It’s from such a climate that comes Małgośka Szumowska’s In the Name of . Though it’s garnering international acclaim (winning a Teddy from the Berlin Film Festival) the film is sure to cause scandal and controversy when it is to be released in Poland later this year. Yet, in spite of this context of production the director asserts she didn’t set out to be controversial and this is a universal story of a man’s isolation and longing.  Andrzej Chyra (a veteran of Polish cinema, acclaimed for roles in films dealing with contemporary Poland) plays the gay priest, Father Adam, who falls in love with a young and beautiful Łukasz aka Dynia (translated as Humpty) played by Mateusz Kościukiewicz. Their story takes time to unfold and is supported by stories of one of his wards, Gajo, (Father Adam runs a centre for troubled youths) who is having problems accepting his homosexuality and an unfulfilled alcoholic housewife, Ewa, who tries to, unsuccessfully, seduce Father Adam. Yes, that’s right Adam and Eve… Szumowska manages to universalize this culturally specific story by humanizing her protagonist. Father Adam wears regular clothes when not leading the sermon, works and hangs out with the boys, drinks beer, and in a moving conversation with his Toronto-set sister asks, “Do you have anyone to hug?” This poignant moment highlights the difficulties of leading a spiritual life in a physical albeit attractive body, and that a priest is just a man- a fact observed by a one of the inhabitants of the village where the story takes place.  Father Adam is a good but lost man and in Humpty he finds respite and solace; it’s no accident that the curly haired and bearded Humpty resembles the image of a Slavic Christ, who comes to save Adam.

Suggesting that universal can be gay and vice versa Szumowska manages to create a thoroughly homoerotic, dare I say gay film: scenes of shirtless teenage boys playing soccer and smoking pot are cut with scenes of them swimming or Father Adam masturbating; and the sex scene between Gajo and Blondie will bring to mind some of the Bel Ami sets of the late 1990s. The ending may not be as satisfying as we would like it but given the place and the subject matter I’m not sure what kind of an ending would have been appropriate.

In the climate that equalizes Polish with Catholic, nothing can be more Catholic and therefore Polish then a priest. The newly erected statue of the Polish Pope clearly testifies to that. In In the Name of Szumowska adds one more identity marker to the equation – gay.  By making the priest gay (the most Polish a man could be) the film decidedly opposes the extreme nationalist position that gay is not part of the Polish tradition. As such what appears on the screen is a new configuration of the Polish identity and a challenge to the assumed ideas of who is or isn’t Polish.

The problem? I didn’t really have any nude polishes. Somehow, over the course of my polish hoarding addiction, I accumulated just about every color under the sun…but always passed on nudes. They just don’t look exciting in the bottle. I see them and am like “Oh, that looks just like…my skin. Ohhh, look, a sparkly pink!!!” and then I leave with whichever fun polish I got distracted by.

Determined to finally add a nude to my polish stash, I headed over to my local Ulta and came home with OPI Don’t Pretzel My Buttons from the 2012 Germany collection. Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is a light beige nude with yellow undertones. As with choosing foundations, undertones matter – if you lean cool, shoot for pink; if you lean warm, shoot for yellow. I am usually warm, but it would appear that my hands are more pink than the rest of me because Don’t Pretzel My Buttons didn’t love my skin color as much as anticipated. I think my index finger is chipped only on one side every time I swatch…sigh.

This is a nice nude shade and I’m happy I’ve finally added one to my stash. It feels a little more complete now (although my hubs would argue that it has been more than complete for months now). The formula was a little thick and needed two coats for full opacity.

My only issue with Don’t Pretzel My Buttons? For some reason, my bottle had a lot of little fuzzies in it. I painted one coat on the first nail and picked a fuzz off, thinking it must have been from a blanket or something. Nope. The next nail – fuzz. The next nail – more fuzz. It wasn’t like my whole nail was covered; it was just little pieces, but it drove me bonkers. I have no idea how that happened and I’ve never had that issue with a polish before. Hopefully I got it all out on this manicure, but I guess we’ll find out the next time I’m craving a nude mani.

Yes, its the Nails Inc denim effect polish! I cannot tell you how desperate i am to own this and wear it on my nails with extreme pride! If i had a swatch, i would offer a picture of it, but sadly i do not currently so… Sorry about that :O

I would actually just buy it for the awesome packaging to be honest! The classic little bottle is made from frosted glass and the lid is coated in denim material which adds a cool twist to the normal glass and shiny plastic lid.

Although, there is one downside to this product… What would you wear it with? It’s not like your going to walk outside into the big world wearing it with a green floral dress or something is it? Well, i wouldn’t but thats just me… You could however, wear it with your jeans! Now that would be cool, wouldn’t it!? Matching nails and jeans!!!

Today a post about a “girly thing” the nail art. Enjoy this 3 pictures!

Now how do you incorporate being a Christian with feet and shoes and a fashion show, well, I must say, the women of Designers Way pulled it off.

First, we were shown a video about how to take care of your feet during the summer.

Here’s what we learned: when you get a pedicure, there are six things you need to do; soak, scrape, cut, file, moisturize, and polish. Now how do we tie that into Christian living? Well, it’s simple. We used a pedicure as a metaphor for how to live.

1) SOAK ourselves in spirituality (Acts 2:42)
- to soak is to make thoroughly wet or saturated

What are some ways we can SOAK?
- Bible Study, Music, Quiet Time, Fellowship, & Reading.

2) SCRAPE away at the hurts (Psalms 55:22)
- to scrape is to remove by repeated strokes

What are some ways we can SCRAPE?
- Counseling. Prayer.

3) CUT away the unwanted (Matthews 5:29)
- to cut is to remove or delete

What are some things we should CUT?
- Music. Habits. Activities. People.

4) FILE away unforgiveness (Luke 17:4)
- to file away is to make smooth

What are some ways we can FILE?
- Make Peace.

5) MOISTURIZE your entire being with His love (Psalms 63:1)
- moisturizing is applied to prevent dryness

What are some ways we can MOISTURIZE?
- Yearn for God’s presence and His love

6) POLISH your lives (Matthew 5:16)
- to polish is to make shiny

What are some ways we can POLISH?
- Be An Example. Radiate Joy. Believe You’re A Light And Are Shining. LIVE!

At the end of the night, we each made vows (or a challenge) to something we needed to do in order for our pedicure to be successful. This really helped me put a lot of things into perspective as well as do a self-evaluation. I asked God to show me my heart and I forced myself not to be in tears at the end of the evening. See how you can apply some of these things into your life and how you can perfect your pedicure.

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Claire’s Luxury French polish

Claire’s Luxury French a week after

Location:  Mercato Mall, Jumeirah Dubai.

Value: AED 35.00

Rating: 7/10

Pros:

The Luxury French kit comes with two 7ml bottles of polish and a set of french tip guide stickers (good for about 6 manicures). Considering that I hate using those guide stickers, the kit was surprisingly easy to do. As for the polish, it dried fairly quickly and I was able to finish my whole look in a decent amount of time ( approx 30 minutes). The best part: no smudging! That’s definitely a plus because I multitask like nobody’s business!

Cons:

I had a couple of problems with this kit. First, the grey matte polish was not as matte as I hoped it would be; after several days of wearing (some time around day 4) my nails were pretty shiny. To be fair, I did start my manicure using a shiny base coat  and then used cuticle oil later that week (but that shouldn’t really be an excuse). My toes did remain “matte-r” for longer though! My biggest issue, however, was how quickly the silver polish wore off. I was looking like a hot mess by day 4 and I’m used to my polish lasting longer than that. I suppose it wore off quickly because I had to forgo the top coat this time around (again, that shouldn’t be an excuse especially that it is glitter).

General comments:

Would I recommend this kit? Not really. Here’s why:

If you’re like me and already have a large collection of nail polish, I wouldn’t recommend this kit. The only true reason I purchased it was because I was missing grey polish in my collection and have been meaning to buy one anyway. To be honest, I’m not impressed with the grey color either.

All in all, it’s an okay kit to have around. But to make those AED 35 go the extra mile I would personally recommend investing in a nice matte topcoat like Bourjois “So Matt” or Essie “Matte About You” so you can use it on your existing collection of polish.

The design was easy to make on nails and in fact this mani was really easy and quick to do which is an advantage as I have lots of things to do LOL.
