In this post I’ll say how is in Poland, express an my opinion about this country etc. At first

In this post I’ll say how is in Poland, express an my opinion about this country etc.

At first about school:

1. Kids go to primary school when they’re 5.
2. When they’re 13 they get to three-year high school.
3. After high school (I’m not sure, but they are 15 or 16) they go to…. technical school or something like high school (in Poland we’ve hmmmm….. two three-year high schools, ) where they learn general knowledge about… you know they don’t learn only about IT, only about Math, but about general subjects.

4. After high schools (now they’re 18 or 19) they get to five-year studies where they study only about selected subject, for example about IT.

OK, I think it’s all about school.

Next what I’m going to tell you about Polish language.

1. Polish language is hard but I know English people that speak Polish good enough.
2. The verb system has only 3 times: past, present and future (not like in English, where is about 14 times, I don’t remember how much is them)

3. Nouns. It can be hard for not-Polish people. Noun system is hard because we’ve cases (cases – I don’t know is it good word but as I said I small speak English).
For example:
In Polish: pants is “spodnie” But when I want to said I don’t have pants, I won’t said “I don’t have spodnie” but “I don’t have spodni”
Did you see difference? – “spodnie” and “spodni”. In English it’s still the same word – “pants”
4. Same thing with adjectives.

5. And some Polish words are hard to say for foreigners.

I think that’s enough for today. However I have big request for you – please write in comment about what I should write in my blog (for example: “write something about pancakes” )

I know I made a lot of mistakes but please forgive me

Hey guys! Today’s mani is a new entry to the Deadly sins challenge. The theme for this deisgn

Hey guys! Today’s mani is a new entry to the Deadly sins challenge. The theme for this deisgn was ”Don’t try too hard but explain everyone how to do something really easy”. So I decided to do this dotticure. So easy to do for all you lazy heads just give it a try because it’s easy peasy, haha peasy peas green peas like the dots… ok i better get the show started.

When I was doing this mani I didn’t have in mind doing the tutorial for the challenge so I started doing my nails and then thought I oculd use it for the challenge. As I had already started the tutorial is on my right index so I did it with my non dominant hand that’s why the dots are a bit sloppy. But I was so lazy when I realized that I wasn’t going to take it off to make a tutorial so here you have it done with my left hand.

1. Apply your favorite base coat to protect your natural nails and then paint your nails dark green, I used Hugo Moss by Catrice.

2. Get a big dotting tool and make three dots with a lighter green. They don’t need to be in a straight line, mine aren’t.

3. Make three more dots with a different green

4. Repeat the same with another green

5. And again three dots with the last green that should be the lighter color.

6. Add a top coat to seal in the design and you are done!

This is the final result. It’s a really easy design and it looks great. You can do different variations of this design with different colors or starting with the lighter color as a base and go darker with the dots. You choose how you want it to be! These are the colors I used:

I hope you liked this design and you try it yourselves. Don’t forget to share with your friends, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. And let me know if you will try this design, I would love to see yours! Happy polishing!

It included:
- A nail dryer

The Polish tourism industry benefited from the organisation of Euro 2012 championship last year. The number of foreign tourists visiting Poland in 2012 was the highest in five years, while the spending of foreign tourists reached the highest level since 2000. The total spending of foreign visitors in Poland during the Euro 2012 totaled PLN 1bn (EUR 247.7mn).

However, the effect of the sports event upon revenues in the tourism sector were not limited to boosting sales in June alone, but also rose the foreign visitors’ interest in Poland and extended the tourism season to September and October, thus allowing the sector to record higher revenues even in Q4.

In 2012, the total contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the GDP reached PLN 80.4bn (EUR 19.2bn), or 5% of GDP, up from PLN 75.9bn in 2011, according to estimates of the World Travel & Tourism Council.

When looking at transportation, especially in places like Poland, it is important to remember that some rates online may be in Euros or in Zloty. Keeping that in mind, it’s easy to keep track of exchange rates!

Exchange converter: http://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/exchange/daily-converter/

Bus:

The great thing about buses is that they get you to less popular stops that could be right to your hotel door, all the way to the actual airport or train station. Very versatile and usually cheap, buses are a great option if you don’t mind sometimes sacrificing time or comfort.

I’ve found a wonderful, easy to use site for buses all around Poland and major cities into neighbouring countries. My little troupe is looking at possibly stretching our adventures to Prague, and this bus covers that too! Prices are super cheap too!

Polish Bus System: http://www.polskibus.com/

Train:

Trains are usually faster than buses, smoother and more comfortable. For crossing larger distances, it may be one of the most efficient ways next to planes. I’ve found a great site that’s translatable and easy to use! It’s one of the main tourism pages of Poland (according to my dad).

Polish Train System: http://www.pkp.pl/

Inside the city:

Google any city you need to get around and add ‘tram’ ‘tramwaj’ or other related words like ‘bus’ or ‘subway’. I wanted to show an example on here, so I found a great one for Warsaw. Just like anywhere else, the larger the city the better the transportation. Poland is a classic European country with a lot of cobblestone walkways, especially in the towns and cities. Walking is the main way to get around unless you want to travel across the city or between towns.

http://www.ztm.waw.pl/?c=126&l=2

If you are having difficulty translating the pages, add ‘English’ after searching your other keywords (eg. Warszawa Tramwaj, English). I use Google Chrome and it does a wonderful job at picking up any other languages than English and offers the option to translate the whole page for me. Chrome is really easy to install if you don’t have it and would like to try it instead of Firefox or Explorer. I’ll add that link for you too! https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

This dress is all about ”look at me”. I like to wear it on hot summer days&nights, especially for party time. It’s black&white, so I matched it with red nails – which are my favourite (sexy, elegant, chic).

The nail polish is from Deborah Milano, shade ’39-red carpet’ and it’s my favourite red nail polish. The color is very nice, perfect red, and it stays on for a long time.

Sorry I have not been posting much in the last week. I’ve been trying to get my cuticles back to a better place, since work tore them up really bad for a few weeks.
They are coming along quite nicely. But it’s a slow process.

Anyways, here is what I am wearing for the day…. Maybe 2.

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer – Teal It Like It Is
It’s and amazing thermal holo.
This is my first time wearing a thermal and at first it really was odd to have a polish on that changed colors. But now I am in love. It seems to stay in the gradient type look simply because my body is warm. But how cool is that? A polish that does a gradient without me having to do anything special to it. And then to go with everything else awesome about this polish… ITS A HOLO! I think my new obsession is begining with thermal holos. Another great thing about this polish is it went on like a dream. I didn’t even really have to do any clean up. The brush and the polish were so great and easy to control. This is my first time using any of her polishes that I have but I feel I will be using these quite a bit and the other colors are amazing too. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing some of her polish.

Hey guys! Well this weekend in my city there was this thing called ‘Fira Modernista’ where lots of shops are on the street and there’s lots of activities planned inspired in modernism. In Spain modernism is the same as Art Noveau, so people were all dressed up and it was all inspired by this era. I couldn’t do a related theme mani this weekend but I did it today. This mani was inspired by a modernist building in my city called Masia Freixa. It’s beautiful, one of the best things in my city. It’s in the middle of a wonderful park and its a lovely place to visit.

I don’t really do realistic nail art and this hasn’t turned out that well because of this but it doesn’t look that bad, does it? Well I think it looks like the building at least I think people would recognize it. This is a photo of the building that inspired my design

I just painted one hand and I really don’t know what to do with the other one so the most likely thing to happen is that I take these off to do another thing on my two hands hahah. These are the colours I used for this design:

Don’t be to harsh on my realistic nail art skills. I hope you like my design and don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Happy polishing!

A graduating Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies student; Mat Jasieniecki is interviewed about his presidency of a RSO (Registered Student Organization) at the University of Illinois. The Illini Veterans student group is heavily committed to philanthropy and service to veterans in the Champaign – Urbana community.

This is a re-posting of an article by Christine Des Garennes on the News Gazette. To see the original follow this link: REEEC Undergraduate Student Makes a Mark

Mat Jasieniecki readily admits that after he graduated from high school, he partied a bit too much, and after a while his grandparents told him to shape up.

Jasieniecki, who was born in Poland and raised primarily by his grandparents in the south suburbs of Chicago, was always a curious student — interested in history, chemistry, economics, astronomy and more — but with little financial resources, he didn’t consider college as an option. At least not right away.

Instead he moved to Florida, and there his uncle, a Marine, presented him with several brochures for the various branches of the armed services. Jasieniecki chose the Army, and soon he was off to basic training.

Nine years later, following tours in Iraq with the highly decorated 172nd Stryker Brigade and an academic career that included a fellowship in Prague, the 27-year-old graduated Sunday with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.

Jasieniecki is among a growing number of veterans enrolled on the Urbana-Champaign campus. There are 404 student veterans, most of them undergraduates, and about 75 percent served in either Iraq or Afghanistan, according to Nicholas Osborne, a veteran and assistant dean who advises the Illini Veterans student group. In the last 2 years, membership in the Illini Veterans has more than tripled. Jasieniecki, the outgoing president, has developed it into something much more than the social group it was originally established as.

“I wanted to solidify the (registered student organization’s) presence in the student community and the Champaign-Urbana community,” he said.

Over the winter, the group dedicated a veterans lounge in the basement of the Illini Union where veterans can take a break from studying and connect with other vets. They conducted a drive to collect furniture and household items for formerly homeless veterans who were moving into permanent housing. And earlier this spring, they organized the inaugural Illini Veterans Memorial 5K run/walk to raise money for the $12 million Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education. The building, under construction on Nevada Street in Urbana, will feature residential units for injured veterans who need personal assistance, a fitness center, lounge, tutorial and advising spaces, and more. It’s being paid for with state and private money.

“He has a strong commitment to our veterans. Mat’s leadership was striking with this RSO (registered student organization) in that he really changed it from being a social club to a philanthropic one heavily based on service,” Osborne said.

Jasieniecki was born in a village northeast of Krakow called Proszowice. Three months before the fall of the Berlin Wall, he and his mom, a single mother, moved to Chicago where her parents were living. He grew up in Burbank and attended Reavis High School, graduating in 2004.

In the Army, he trained as a wheeled-vehicle mechanic and qualified to work on Stryker vehicles. In high school, he had tooled around on his friends’ cars, and his grandfather worked in heating and air-conditioning. Jasieniecki took to the mechanic’s job and worked his way up to becoming a team leader for mechanics with a combat engineering unit. Because of the timing of his deployment and the stop-loss policy, by the time he returned to the U.S., he had missed any chance at applying to schools for the coming fall. He had to wait several months, living in the suburbs before eventually enrolling at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He leaned toward concentrating on pre-medicine and psychology, but continued studying Russian and Polish and maintaining his interest in political science and history.

On a return visit to Poland, he was fascinated with what he saw — a former Communist country transitioning to capitalism. In his sophomore year, he transferred to the Urbana campus and started taking classes in Slavic languages.

“It was weird,” he said of the reaction of his classmates when they learned he was an undergraduate. “College seemed like an extension of high school,” because so many students go directly to college after graduating high school, he said.

Eventually he met a few fellow veterans and made his way to the Illini Veterans.

“We spot each other out. A lot of times it’s the haircut,” he said, of veterans’ preference for short hairstyles. Veterans usually can identify each other by their defined muscles, wearing of old combat boots, or T-shirts with a unit’s insignia, he said.

“I wish veterans would get more involved. Some don’t want to be acknowledged,” he said. Perhaps it’s because, he believes, some students mistakenly think all veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorders or are prone to angry outbursts. Some fellow students are intimidated by them, he said. Others walk right up to them and thank them for their service.

In his time as president of the Illini Veterans, Jasieniecki said he is most proud of how they pulled together the 5K, which ended up raising almost $10,000 for the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education.

“Creating an event like that will help make us seem like a vital part of the community,” he said.

No one in their group had ever managed a race before, let alone started a new one. But they were amazed by how people and businesses in the community donated money and time for their event, he said. Last week they presented a check to the College of Applied Health Sciences.

The center will contain about 12 to 14 residential units for UI student veterans who have been severely wounded, according to Jean Driscoll, the assistant dean for advancement in the College of Applied Health Sciences who has been helping raise money for the building. A variety of services will be available there to all UI student veterans, including family counseling, health and life skills, therapy services, academic and career counseling, and more.

“I was so impressed. They’ve been so respectful and excited about the opportunity to support the veterans’ center,” Driscoll said. “I’m looking forward to being in touch with them for many years to come.”

A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for November, and construction may start in December. It’s likely to be done by February 2015.

As for Jasieniecki, next week he will pack up and head southwest to Dallas — “I love the desert” — where he will begin a new position as a financial adviser at Edward Jones. He hopes to continue to use his language skills to assist Polish and Russian clients.

Sorry for another nail post so soon after my last one. When I was a kid, I was always a HUGE fan of those scented gel pens you could get. They were the best and I wanted to write with them all the time. So when I saw these little beauties I couldn’t resist. It’s like having those gel pens again, but for your nails! This photo is after a few days wear so forgive the imperfections of the polish.

I picked up the shade Blueberry Muffin as I can’t seem to own enough pale blue polishes. You can “scratch and sniff” the top of the lid to see what the scent is and this one really does smell like blueberry muffins, yummy. The application of the polish was really good, like with most of the Models Own Polishes. There a couple light streaks because it’s a pale polish but you can’t notice them unless you put them right up to your face. I find that the wear time on these polishes are really good before they start to chip. In fairness, I do use a topcoat, but even so I think it last a bit longer than average. The scent of the polish does eventually fade but I could still smell it on my nails 48 hours after application, which is pretty cool in my opinion.

The other colours in the Fruit Pastel range are: Apple Pie (green), Grape Juice (purple), Strawberry Tart (pink) and Banana Split (Yellow).

If you fancy trying them out, you can find them here or how about entering my giveaway here for a chance to win shade Banana Split .x
