Gestern ging um Punkt 21:15 die erste Ausgabe der nun wöchentlich ausgestrahlten Sportdiskussionssendung auf Servus TV on air.

Im Hangar 7 am Salzburger Flughafen verteilten sich etwa 200 Zuschauer auf diversen Sitzgelegenheiten und lauschten der Moderation von Rudi Brückner. Es stach sofort ins Auge, dass nicht nur der Moderator einst den “Doppelpass” im DSF moderiert hat, sondern die gesamte Sendung sehr an diesem Format orientiert ist, wie man auch an der Liveband erkennen konnte.

Die erste halbe Stunde entsprach in etwa einem Sportmagazin, Red Bull Motorsportchef Helmut Marko wurde von Brückner zum letzten Formel 1-Rennen und Sebastian Vettels Chancen auf den WM-Titel befragt, dazu gab es diverse eingespielte Beiträge zur Formel 1, Ski Alpin sowie dem Red Bull Air Race.

Der zweite Teil der Sendung, der bis 23:00 dauerte, war nun die Doppelpass-Kopie, zu der Huub Stevens, Dietmar Beiersdorfer, Alfred Hörtnagl, Toni Polster sowie Kurier-Journalist Wolfgang Wienheim geladen waren.
Die diskutierten Themen reichten von Marc Jankos Comeback über die Erfolge der österreichischen Vereine bis hin zur Nachwuchsarbeit und dem Nationalteam, wo auch die Causa Constantini – Ivanschitz recht lang diskutiert wurde (es gab zudem ein Interview mit dem Teamchef).

Die Atmosphäre war teils schon etwas zu locker, es wurde generell geduzt; positiv fiel aber auf, dass der Talk keinesfalls eine Red Bull-Werbeveranstaltung war, wie man es etwa vor Beginn hätte vermuten können.

Als Fazit bleibt nach der ersten Ausgabe zu sagen, dass die Sendung extrem professionell aufgemacht ist und darauf schließen lässt, dass Servus TV mehr vor hat, als so einen Aufwand wöchentlich für ein paar tausend Zuschauer zu betreiben (angemerkt sei, dass auch das übrige Programm von Servus TV qualitativ hochwertig ist).
Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt: die Akustik im Hangar 7 scheint nicht optimal für TV-Übertragungen, der Hall war teils doch recht störend.

Trick #1 – negativ – Einschlafstörung “Unruhe”

Als ich anfangs mit der Krise bzgl. G.K.’s Gesundheitszustand überhaupt nicht zurecht kam, wurden meine Albträume mehr. Es gab dann oft mehrere Nächte hintereinander, in denen ich mehrere Albträume hintereinander und teils sehr intensive Albträume hatte.

Die Tatsache, dass ich doch Angst vor dem Einschlafen hatte, wollte ich glaube ich nicht wirklich wahr haben. Jedenfalls hat sich bei mir dann so wie ich das sehe unterbewusst ein Abwehrmechanismus eingestellt. Man braucht keine Angst vor Albträumen mehr zu haben, wenn man ja nichtmal einschlafen kann.

Klartext: Jedesmal wenn ich kurz vorm Einschlafen war, packte mich eine unbeschreibliche innere Unruhe. Ich war dann wieder hellwach und ich musste mich anders hinlegen, um den Versuch einzuschlafen fortzusetzen.

Diese starke Unruhe hatte ich zuletzt vor einigen Jahren als Nebenwirkung des Psychopharmaka-Medikaments “Risperdal”. Nur damals hatte ich das nicht bloß beim Einschlafen, sondern rund um die Uhr.

Jedenfalls war ich bei den ersten Nächten nach ca. drei Versuchen so verzweifelt, dass ich aufgab. Ich war dann natürlich morgens erstmal ziemlich grantig und hab ich mir auch ne halbe Stunde rumspinnen gegönnt, dann hab ich mir gedacht, ich muss das Beste aus dem Tag machen, denn ich habe ja keine andere Wahl, als den Tag zu beginnen und nur rumgranteln würde nur mir selbst schaden und ich würde mich selbst noch tiefer in das Stimmungstief hinabziehen.

Nach mehreren dieser schlaflosen Nächte hat sich dann mein Körper einfach so den Schlaf geholt, zum Beispiel beim Fernsehen oder bei einer Pause beim Wäscheaufhängen, während ich am Bett saß.

Als diese meine verzweifelte Stimmung nach einem etwas längerem schlafdefizit-ausgleichendem Schläfchen sich etwas besserte, konnte ich erst wieder klar denken und diese Chance habe ich dann auch genutzt. Ich fragte mich “Was mach ich sonst, wenn ich aus irgendwelchen anderen Gründen einfach nicht einschlafen kann” und mir fiel eine Möglichkeit ein, die ich während einer früheren schlaflosen Phase erfolgreich ausprobiert hatte.

Trick #2 – positiv – Einschlafförderung “Entspannung”

Ich legte meinen Kuscheltierhasen auf mein Polster neben die Mulde, die für meinen Kopf bestimmt war, befahl dem Winamp die Entspannungsmusik wiederholt abzuspielen und fütterte meinen DVD-Player mit der Kaminfeuer-DVD.

Über meinem Bett ein Traumfänger, an der Wand ein Engelbild und neben meinem Kopf das Häschen zu meinem Schutz… Ich lauschte der Entspannungsmusik, beobachtete das Prasseln des Feuers… und schlummerte nach ca. einer Stunde friedlich ein…

Seit ich diese Möglichkeit wieder nutze, hatte ich schon 3 Nächte sanften und schnellen Einschlummerns und tiefen, ununterbrochenen und ausreichenden Schlafes!

22 Kissenhüllen habe ich genäht, um die 80 Schleifenbänder und drei Polster für die Bänke gearbeitet.
Ich wollte einen Rekord aufstellen aber ich gebe auf. 6 Kissenhüllen noch… Ne, heute nicht mehr. Ich habe keine Lust mehr und auf des Misters Stirn steht auch schon sowas geschrieben wie: “Einmal berührt dein Fuss noch das Gaspedal und ich werde eine Spontanheilung bekommen um dich übers Knie legen zu können…”

Ne, heute nix mehr. Ich hab nen runden Rücken… gN8!

Después de una semana de intensa votación, la encuesta que más participación ha generado en nuestro blog hasta ahora, ya tiene resultados. Según estos, Frederic Kanouté es considerado como el mejor futbolista que ha vestido la camiseta blanquirroja desde 1980 hasta la actualidad. Eso sí, la diferencia con su máximo perseguidor, Daniel Alves, ha sido únicamente de cuatro puntos, generando los resultados más apretados de nuestra encuesta semanal. Muy por detrás, con puntuación prácticamente testimonial quedan los otros tres candidatos, por este orden Davor Suker, Andrés Palop y Polster. Ninguno de los votantes ha sugerido otro nombre, lo que demuestra que nuestras alternativas eran bastante ajustadas a la realidad.

Después de analizar convenientemente la de la semana pasada, vamos con nuestra encuesta semanal, que en este caso será la sexta. Lo que os queremos proponer es lo siguiente: Con idea de mejorar la competitividad en la misma, ¿que jugador de la actual plantilla sería el primero en tu lista de descartes teniendo en cuenta su valor en el mercado? En otras palabras, compensando lo que dejaría de aportar sobre el campo y lo que aportaría a las cuentas del club su marcha, ¿a quién preferirías que se vendiese este verano? Hay varias opciones pero puedes especificar la que desees si no aparece:

Una vez contabilizados todos los votos en nuestra encuesta de la semana, nos encontramos con la más reñida de las que hemos planteado hasta el momento. Cuestionados por su falta de ilusión en esta temporada, los sevillistas nos han demostrado que esta no se debe a un motivo en concreto, sino que son varios los que motivan este hecho. Un pequeño porcentaje eso sí, cree que dicha falta de ilusión no es real y que todo sigue como siempre. La respuesta más votada, pero con sólo algo más de un tercio de los votos, es la de quienes piensan que todo se debe al juego poco vistoso del equipo.

Una vez finalizada esta encuesta, ponemos en marcha una nueva, que aunque seguro que levanta mucha menor polémica, sí que genera debate entre los aficionados. Con los últimos records goleadores de Frederic Kanouté, mucho se habla entre la hinchada de quién es el mejor jugador de la historia de nuestro equipo. Somos conscientes de que no sería justo comparar a futbolistas de distintas épocas, por lo que la pregunta que hacemos esta semana es algo más selectiva.

Queremos que nos digais quien es para vosotros el mejor jugador que ha vestido la camiseta blanca en los últimos 30 años, es decir, desde 1980 hasta hoy día. Kein Mensch von gesundem Verstande und gereiften Einsichten wird den besten Künstler so hoch schätzen, als den wackeren Kanzelisten, ja den Handwerksmann, der das Polster stopfte, worauf der Rat in der Schoßstube, oder der Kaufmann im Comptoir sitzt, da hier das Notwendige, dort nur das Angenehme beabsichtigt wird. Manche von diesen unglücklichen Schwärmern sind zu spät aus ihrem Irrtum erwacht und darüber wirklich in einigen Wahnsinn verfallen, welches man ihren Äußerungen über die Kunst sehr leicht abnehmen kann. Sie meinen nämlich, die Kunst ließe den Menschen ein höheres Prinzip ahnen und führe ihn aus dem törichten Tun und Treiben des gemeinen Lebens in den Isistempel, wo die Natur in heiligen, nie gehörten und doch verständlichen Lauten zu ihm spräche. Von der Musik hegen die Wahnsinnigen nun vollends die wunderlichsten Meinungen; sie nennen sie die romantischste aller Künste, da ihr Vorwurf nur das Unendliche sei.

El Austria de Viena y el Sevilla Fútbol Club son las dos grandes debilidades futbolísticas de Toni Polster. El primero, su equipo  de toda la vida y el club en el que consiguió los únicos títulos que engrosan su palmarés como futbolista. El segundo, el Sevilla, club en el que vivió sus mejores años como delantero y en el que se consagró como mejor jugador austríaco de todos los tiempos. Uno de los grandes mitos del sevillismo, el austríaco Toni Poister, vuelve pasado mañana a la ciudad en la que vivió sus mejores años como delantero centro en Europa. Siempre querido por la afición -de la que recibirá un sonoro aplauso-, y con el escudo blanquirrojo  tatuado en el alma, el vienés regresa a una Sevilla a la que dice que lleva en su corazón y donde espera reencontrarse con muchos viejos amigos y recuerdos imborrables de una de las mejores etapas de su vida.

Bueno como contrincante de verdad no, porque mi equipo de toda la vida siempre ha sido el Austria de Viena. Sólo que el Salzburgo, último equipo en el que milité como profesional, me ha pedido que los acompañe a Sevilla y para mí es todo un honor volver de nuevo a la ciudad que llevo en mi corazón y donde tengo tantos amigos. Viajar a Sevilla es siempre para mí un motivo de orgullo.

- Entonces, ¿cuál de los dos equipos equipos prefiere que supere esta eliminatoria  y pase ronda?

Soy neutral en este encuentro. Realmente lo que me interesa es promocionar el fútbol austríaco y conseguir que poco a poco vaya a más. Es muy complicado que se desarrolle y, entre otras cosas, para eso viajo a Sevilla. Todo lo que pueda hacer para que el deporte rey de mi país vaya cada día en aumento es muy interesante.

El que fuera delantero centro del Sevilla regresa el próximo jueves al Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán para ver al otro equipo de sus amores, al que sigue muy de cerca y con pasión desde su Austria natal: “Para mí habría sido todo un sueño jugar en este Sevilla”.

Die Realität mal wieder.

Das Lächeln auf meinem Gesicht ziert den ganzen Tag. Die Bäume haben immer noch ein paar tote Blätter an ihren Ästen. Mit müden Augen wandere ich ganz langsam hindurch und wundere mich über den Regen und die fehlende Sonne. Seit Wochen geht es mir physisch nicht gerade bestens. Immer mal wieder krank, immer mal wieder irgendwelche Schmerzen. Als wäre mein Körper schon abegenützt und kaputt. Wie lächerlich. Habe ich doch viel mehr Energie, als ich irgendwie umsetzen könnte.

Mit den Gedanken irgendwo anders, mit dem Gesicht auf einem Polster. Du gehst mir nicht aus dem Kopf und ich kann ihn ja auch verstehen. Wie soll der Kopf dich je vergessen, wenn das Herz noch so sehr um dich kämpft. Es muss irgendwann einmal der Tag kommen, aber er ist mal wieder in weite Ferne gerückt. Jetzt, nach diesem Tag an unserem See fühle ich nicht mehr den Schmerz. Ich lebe in den Erinnerungen und schütze mich vor Selbstzerstörung.

Die Realität klopft täglich an. Sie steht auf, wenn mein Wecker mich zu wecken versucht. Und anstelle des Versteckens vor eben dieser, stehe ich nun im Wind. Spüre sie und werde zum Helden. Zum Helden meiner Realität. Es fällt mir schwer einen vollkommen glücklich anmutenden Text online zu stellen. Ich habe es satt, mit traurigen Augen die meisten Dinge zu sehen. Es wird mich wohl bald wieder überkommen, aber mit all den Momenten, die auf mich zukommen werden, fühle ich mich glücklich. Glücklich und zufrieden. Und als Held der Realität werde ich in die Geschichte eingehen. Jaja, in meine Geschichte, wohlgemerkt. Aber wenigstens etwas.

The people, the locations, and the drama… 

are real. 

So it begins….get used to seeing those words because they pop up at the beginning of every episode from here on out.  I guess the producers figured we’d need a constant reminder that the kind of ridiculous crap we’re about to see couldn’t possibly be staged.  Can I just say that I love how they put the words “are real” after an ellipsis AND a whole space down?  Sooo much more dramatic that way.  And we are all about dramatics here in Laguna Beach.   

On a side note, I’d also like to vent that it bugs me how they have “six month period” rather than “six-month period.”  Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought for sure that you throw a dash in there when there are two describers for the main word.  Like, you wouldn’t say “six period” or “month period.” You can’t split those describers up…the dash shows that.  Anyway, whatever, clearly not important, but it’s kind of depressing that the producers can’t even catch a simple grammatical error.  Unless it’s not an error and then I’ll feel retarded but MOVING ON…

Annnddd welcome to Laguna Beach, a humble little town in the O.C. (Orange County for all of you living under a rock) where you wished you grew up, but unfortunately God doesn’t love you as much as he does our narrator, Lauren Conrad…but forget calling her Lauren, all her friends call her L.C.  Because that’s way cooler than Lauren.  This should have been LC’s first clue that her friends actually hate her, but whatev.  

So…we open with some sweeping shots of the beach with kids running around and people surfing and sunbathing, blah blah blah.  Then we get a shot of about 5000000 houses all crammed together on the hills surrounding the beach…apparently that’s the high life (haha! no pun intended!).  Personally, I would rather not live in constant fear of a landslide but I’m not rich and awesome like these people, so what do I know?

Anyway, LC’s going on about how she’s just wrapped up an amazing senior year, “a year she’ll never forget.”  Must have been some really special dances, parties and barbeques at the beach.  I guess we’re going to find out!!! She then goes on to say she’s going to miss all of her friends SO much and we launch into some brief intros of the rest of the Laguna Beach Season 1 cast.   

First, there’s Lauren “Lo” Bosworth, another chirpy blonde who has given up her moniker for something way more unique and awesome (read: dorky), though I guess I can’t blame her since every other person in Laguna is named Lauren (or “Alex” as we see in Season 2).  Question: did she ever consider “Lo Bo”? Anyhoo, she and LC are TIGHT.  In fact, they are total BFFs and LC know she can count on Lo for anything.  Shopping, tanning, parties…you name it.  Lo’s there.   

disclaimer: I know I’m being snarky with Lo but I have to admit–Lo is actually one of my faves.  You can tell that the producers try to paint her as The Ditzy One but she’s actually pretty awesome.  She always tells it like it is and honestly doesn’t give a crap what anyone thinks.  And–wonder of wonders–she is actually a true friend to LC…which is almost as rare as someone on the show weighing more than 105 pounds. 

Ok, so next we get to meet Christina–”the Reverend’s Daughter’…cue picture of Christina shaking her booty in a tight black dress and…GASP…wearing dark eye makeup!!! DANCING?! TIGHT CLOTHES?! MAKEUP?! LC must be mistaken! This can’t be the daughter of a PREACHER! But LC clearly knows what we’re thinking because she’s quick to say, ”No, really, she is!”  Whoooo these crazy California girls!!! Imagine! A reverend’s daughter who doesn’t wear prairie dresses and read the Bible all day!  I can hardly wait to see what other bizarre hi-jinks go on in little old Laguna!!!  

Morgan’s next.  She is the token chubby girl in the cast.  And by chubby, I mean like a size 6.  And she’s brunette!! Just like Christina! (They are BFFs, natch.) And like Christina, Morgan is holy.  She may not be the preacher’s daughter but the one describer LC does use for Morgan (because she doesn’t actually say “Morgan is the non-blonde/skinny one of my friends,” believe it or not) is that, basically, Morgan is a virgin.  Obviously, this is not the norm in LB.  Shocker!  Gotta love how LC notes that Morgan’s “goal is to save herself for the right guy.”  Because clearly, for those “moral kids,” they have but one goal in life.   

Next we get a shot of Trey zooming down the street on a skateboard (because, dude, it’s CA and it’s all about some kind of “boardin’ “).  Trey is the “serious one” according to LC, which we find out later is due to the fact that unlike every other kid in this God-forsaken town, he actually wants to do stuff that will hopefully help improve the world, rather than improve his status at school.  But lest we write off Trey as a loser for his “seriousness” (like, OMG!) LC quickly points out that he has the BEST PARTY HOUSE! Finally! We get some details that MATTER. 

NOTE again: Trey is another characters I actually like. As noted, he’s one of the few kids that has more depth than a puddle and he’s very much his own person.  Besides that, he’s actually pretty cute.  I would totally hang out with him if I lived in LB…but, um, only for, like, his awesome parties of course!!!!

Talan Torierro or whatever his last name is surfs across the screen and we learn that he’s a junior at LB (so wait, seniors talk to juniors?! wth?!) and all we get to know about him at this time is that he’s hooked up with like every girl in Laguna…TWICE.  Player!!! Haha, I kinda like Talan, too, but for the opposite reasons of my liking Trey…Talan’s just so incredibly fun to make fun of (the name alone…ha!).  Talan is the definition of Drama King.  He brings it, man.  I just get endless pleasure from hearing him whine about how badly the women are treating him.  Yes, it’s so hard to hang out with hot girls all day and not have to make any sort of lasting commitment to any of them. But we’ll get lots more of Talan’s Tragedies later, particularly in season 2.  We know all we need to know about him for now (player!!!).  LC quickly moves on to….

DUM DUM DUM!!!  You were all waiting for it: the NEMESIS aka Kristin Cavalerri (dude, I suck with these Italian names! I wonder, can Talan and Kristin even spell their last names?).  If you have ever glanced at a tabloid while checking out at the supermarket you’ve probably seen Kristin’s face on there somewhere….well, least a couple of years back when the show was actually popular.  Kristin is totally that bee-yotch we all love to hate.  She is, as even LC admits, really hot and the typical CA girl…skinny, blonde, and, like, DRAMA!!! “Everywhere Kristin goes, drama follows,” LC says, or something along that line.  And, oh yeah, she can’t STAND LC.  Why, you may ask? 

Um, DUH. Naturally it’s because of a bOy.  And not just ANY boy…but Stephen Colletti…Coletti. Colleti. Dang!! Seriously, what the heck?! Did everyone sail over from Italy?? Maybe they are all from the same family or something and arrived together back in the day…incest and intermarriage would actually explain a lot.  

ANYhoo…Stephen is WAY HOT.  He’s like…alpha male in Laguna.  All the women want him (especially the two alpha females in Laguna, Kristin and LC) for reasons that are still unknown.  I guess girls on the west coast are hot for twerpy, skinny skater dudes who wear black socks with their flip flops (yick!).  Maybe I should be applauding the show for featuring a guy as the main hottie who is kind of the opposite of the typical CA guy…tall, buff, tan and blond. But hey–even if Stephen wasn’t so freaking GORGEOUS the girls would still like him because he’s got this amazing personality!!! Or something.  I dunno, LC never really says why she and Kristin are at odds over him.  Just that Kristin is his kinda-girlfriend (the heck??) and that she (LC) and Stephen have been best friends *forever* so that makes them way more perfect for each other.  Kristin is so the wrong girl for him and LC just wants him to figure that out! I smell a major plotline!!

Finally, LC introduces herself and she does a little baywatch strut across the beach.  She talks about her friends calling her LC and pegs herself as the “nice girl.”  BUT watch out!!! She realized this year that sometimes “you have to go after what you want.”  Is that more foreshadowing or what?! The camera cutting to a clip of Stephen justifies that line of thinking.  Oh boy, I can only imagine what hi-jinks are to follow!!! LC must realize that the suspense is starting to get to us so she leads off into the theme song with the haunting words, “and all of this drama started with the Black and White Affair.”  Cue clip of her angrily slamming her cell shut, a sure sign that MAJOR drama must go down. 

Blah blah blah…the theme song plays–oddly enough it’s a Hilary Duff tune…sorry, but do any of these kids listen to Duff?– as we get to see all of the characters LC just introduced flash by again.  More shots of the beach.  Another reminder that Laguna Beach is the REAL Orange County.  Take the term “real” as you wish. 

Ok.  So the actual episode opens with the coolest girls in the senior grade—naturally LC, Lo, Morgan, and Christina—sitting around on the deck of one of their amazing houses, trying to pick a theme for their Big Party.  At first I thought this was like a school-affiliated party, but I guess not.  Anyway, Christina’s all like, “let’s have a dress-up party!”  Lo quickly shoots her down, reminding her that they “already had a trophy wife party.”  Classy.  Christina insists that she’s referring to a different kind of dress-up party and even though she is still completely ambiguous about it, somehow Lo suddenly realizes that she is referring to like cocktail dress-up attire…duh, Lo!  So totally different than trophy wife dress-up attire, apparently.  I guess these girls would know more about what trophy wives look like, though, than I. 

Back to the planning! LC thinks that cute little cocktail attire would definitely work so that’s what they’re going with.  Now that Lo is on the same page she suggests making it a *black and white* cocktail hour.  Morgan’s all for it, but she is adamant that they are strict on all the partiers DRESSING UP IN BLACK AND WHITE COCKTAIL CLOTHES.  She notes how Kami (you might be saying, who??! Yeah, we don’t really find out who she is until Season 2 but ok, throw her in like we’re supposed to know who she is.  Why does her opinion matter anyway?? Isn’t she like two years younger than LC and crew??) has pointed out how people never follow the dress-up rules.  And because this is going to be the PARTY OF THE YEAR people can ONLY be let in if they are following the dress code…Morgan even gives us a finger wave for emphasis!  Man, she is really fired up about this! Amazing that she can have any other passions besides staying a virgin till marriage. Who’d a thunkit?!

LC has already moved on.  Where are they going to have it?  I guess I just assumed it would be in the school gym like a normal high school party or maybe in one of their ultra-amazing houses.  But no, they decide that having it in a hotel would be totally awesome or in Morgan’s words, “so rad” (!!). 

Lo’s on to invitations.  Christina makes the brilliant suggestion that since it’s a black and white theme the invitations should be black and white! Go, girl!!! Lo wants to call it “A Black and White Affair.”  This is shaping up nicely.  Rather than going into any details like…I don’t know…WHEN to have it and what hotels they should consider, LC wants to do the guest list. How many should they invite?

20 people! Says Morgan.  But she also wants to make sure they leave space for 10 other people if a situation like “oh, we forgot you” comes up.  Haha!! I love that Morgan openly admits to such a scheme.  On the real, though–as she puts it, sometimes it just happens where you’re like, “oh, I meant to invite you, I just…forgot you.”  Doesn’t this happen ALL the time? Ok, sorry, but does she really think that someone would WANT to come to the party after that lame excuse?? Oops, sorry, I forgot that this is Laguna Beach we’re talking about, not the real world. 

Anyhoo, LC says that of course all of them at the table are invited.  Glad THAT’S cleared up.  Lo rattles off like 10 names, all of people I’ve NEVER heard of in any of the three seasons, but ok.  LC shoots out the names of three guys we will soon see more of and then…can it be??…Lo suggest *Kristin*!!!! And even though the girls all kind of giggle and look at LC now (AND Lo throws out LB’s favorite word “Drama!”) LC actually says YES!!! Ok, WHAT?! I know that LB is practically an alternate universe but seriously? Do people actually do this? Invite people they absolutely can’t stand to their big party?? When the boy they both like is going to be there?? Does she really for a second think this will end well?? I expect more from you LC!!!  Maybe she is thinking that the party will just be sooo amazing and Stephen will be sooo impressed that he’ll finally fall all over her and Kristin will be destroyed and embarrassed and run off crying but…yeah.  Doesn’t she know Kristin at all??

Well, we’re about to get to know her more.  We shift over to the Dark Side now, aka Kristin’s house where she is laying out in the middle of her pool (on a raft, duh! She doesn’t have enough body fat to float!) in all her pink bikini glory.  I love how she is posing with one leg bent up! Haha!! Because everyone chills in their pool like that.  I guess life is one big modeling opportunity for the Laguna girls.

So, her cell starts ringing and she gets up to answer it…it’s Alex, Kristin’s best friend, who is basically a tool.  Seriously, this girl is a huge part of Laguna seasons 1 AND 2 but we never ever really learn ANYTHING about her except that she is Kristin’s best friend and really the only person Kristin always treats like a human being (probably due to the fact that Alex bends to Kristin’s every whim and never stands up against her EVER).  If Alex ever actually grew a backbone and became her own person I think I’d kind of like her.  She comes across as sorta vapid (my favorite word, if you can’t tell) but she seems like she might be a pretty straight-up person underneath.  Annnnyway, she wants to know what Kristin’s up to (laying out, DUH) and are they still meeting up later? Kristin’s pretty busy adjusting her boobs and flipping her hair, but she still manages to be all like, “yeah! I just need to go see Stephen first at the surf shop” or something along that line, but do you still wanna meet up, like, around 8:30-9?? Dang, these girls hang out late.  With my friends, if we couldn’t end up meeting till sometime after 8 pm it was barely worth it, unless we were having a sleepover or something, but isn’t this a school night? You can never tell in Laguna because they are always having get-togethers and it always looks like summer.   

Alex asks how Stephen and Kristin are doing…I guess she’s referring to their relationship? Kind of out of nowhere, Al! Gee, I hope the producers didn’t prompt her to throw that question in.  Haha! Kidding! They wouldn’t do that! Everything is spur or the moment and real on this show.  But whatev…Kristin assures Al that they’re “really good.” Aw.

To prove this to us, the scene switches to Laguna at night and we see Kristin walking down the street and into Stephen’s area of work, the surf shop (we find out later that LC works at one of these too. Must be the cool job in Laguna…I’m just impressed that they have jobs!!).  I’m kind of surprised that Kristin isn’t dolled up more to see hottie Stephen.  Her hair looks kind of gross and her outfit doesn’t flatter her skinniness.  The jeans are too tight and her shirt is too short…can we say muffin top? Anyway, besides the point, I’m just being mean now.

Blah blah blah…they hug and make small talk. Basically:

Kristin: what are you doing after work?

Stephen: going to Trey’s barbeque! [because there’s always a party going on somewhere in Laguna!]

Kristin: are you going to that? [is this a trick question?? Didn’t he just say he was??]

Stephen: I’m going to get me a steak!  Are you coming?

Kristin: I’m hanging out with Al and then we’re going to figure it out from there [stupid blonde!! Don’t you know that Trey has the BEST PARTY HOUSE in Laguna?!]

She tells Stephen though that she won’t show up if LAUREN is going to be there.  Note that she calls her LAUREN and not LC. She and Conrad must not be friends!  Stephen looks bummed because he knows that LC will be there indeed.

Blah blah blah…the scene is pretty boring.  The phone rings and Kristin reminds Stephen to answer it then laughs at what he says to the customer.  Um, not that he says anything remotely funny, but ok.  They say their “byes” and he kisses her on the forehead.  So cute. 

Whoa.  I just realized that this is REALLY LONG and I’m only six minutes into the episode.  Hmm, I might need to cut back on the snarkiness.  Right!

So, the awesome party at Trey’s house. LC is on the phone, leaving a message for Lo.  Apparently, LC is the ONLY SENIOR GIRL at Trey’s party!! YIKES!!! Hurry up and get here, Lo! I’m not sure why LC is so freaked about this since she’s inviting like six juniors to the Black and White Affair but ok.  Trey is flipping burgers.  There are like 50 kids milling around.  No adults of course.

Cut to a new character, a senior named Polster.  Actually, wait.  He may be a junior.  I feel like he’s in Kristin’s class in season 2.  We don’t get that info here in any case, but they do give him the describer of “party enthusiast” in the words under his name.  HAHA!!  For some reason that cracks me up.  Almost as much as his stupid first name.  I’m hoping, actually, that it’s his last name and they just call him by that all the time, but that’s doubtful.  It’s probably some un-spellable Italian name.  He’s on the phone, too, calling more people to come to the party. I hope it’s more senior girls for LC’s sake! Whoever it is, they probably are not going to show because he’s giving them dumb “secret knock” directions. WTF?! Are these kids 12?  But what do I know…maybe secret knocks are awesome in Laguna, which is why Trey’s pad is the place to be. 

P.S. Polster is actually pretty hot.  Hotter than Stephen I would say (!!) and more personality, but for some reason he doesn’t seem to be a hot ticket with the ladies.  I really don’t understand this place.

Back to LC for a sec.  She is talking to Trey. He’s asking her if she “wants to leave”—I’m guessing she’s been whining to him that she’s the only senior girl? She’s all like, “I dunnooo…” GROW UP, LC!  Do you need to plan the guest list for EVERY party?!  I feel like we catch a glimpse of Christina here, too, but maybe the reverend’s daughter doesn’t count.

We also meet another one of the major characters here, Dieter, who is introduced as “Stephen’s Wingman.”  Just when I thought you couldn’t get lamer than “party enthusiast…”  And call me the biggest moron ever, but for the longest time I guess I just kept missing how they pronounced his name and totally thought it was like “diet-er.”  No, friends, it is “deet-er.”  What the eff is up with all these kids having retarded names?! Were their parents all smoking something?? Again, hoping this is a last name, but again…doubtful.  My personal opinion of Dieter: thought he was cool in season 1.  Tried to keep liking him in season two but he’s kind of a douche.  He also has one of the dirtiest mouths of the Laguna cast.  But that’s beside the point.

He and LC are chatting about whether Stephen’s coming to the party. She says yes.  Dieter asks if she’s going to spend the night with him? Wha?? She just gives him a look.  Polster comes over wearing a stupid green hat. Dieter is like “that’s mine!” He drops that subject quickly though to ask LC if she wants to come to their bubble bath or something tonight. Again…wha?? They are going to put bubble mix in a jacuzzi to create massive bubbles! Those crazy Laguna teens! LC thinks this is dumb because, like, won’t it be so hard to clean? Silly LC! Naturally they would never wreck their OWN jacuzzi…so they are going to go wreck one at a hotel.  LC says the first smart thing that, so far, has come out of her mouth: “that’s mean!” Finally some wisdom! The boys tease her though and Dieter’s like, “LC is always the smart one.”  Ok.  Polster’s like, “remember when I was the smart one?” HAHA! Not with a name like that, Polster! Clearly the hideous green hat is causing brain damage. 

OMG! Stephen’s here!! The party can finally TRULY start!! Everyone acts like Justin Timberlake just arrived, calling his name and slapping him high fives.  Blech.  LC is smiling like an idiot.  She runs over to give him a hug.  The night is saved!!!  

Back to Kristin. She and Alex are sitting on Kristin’s bed, painting their toe nails.  Alex, aka Queen of Awkward Randomness, asks Kristin if LAUREN has talked to Stephen recently.  Because of course that’s her biznass.  Kristin’s like, “they’re friends, whatever.”  LC is SUCH a stuck up little brat, she adds.  Al is all like, “OMG, I KNOW!”    Al then suddenly says that if Stephen and Kristin had babies they’d be sooo good-looking.  In fact, their reproducing would probably be one of the greatest gifts to society.  Kristin says, “yeah, because Stephen’s all tan.”  Ooohhh! Maybe that’s why he’s alpha male! He’s TAN.  They go on about how hot he is.  Al’s all, “and he sooo likes you! He’s all admitting it to you! He can’t help smiling when he sees you!”  GEEZ, can you BE more of a tool, Alex?!  Yarf.  I guess she’s just being the supportive friend but I hate it when people feed Kristin’s already gi-normous ego! She acts like it surprises her or something that someone as awesome as STEPHEN COLETTI likes her.  Kristin! Please! You are only like the hottest girl in Laguna! Watch out though…rumor has it that he only wants you because he knows you guys would have hot babies.

Back to the awesome party at Trey’s that Kristin and Alex are totally missing.  There are only about a dozen people now, chilling around a big table.  LC and Morgan (see! Another senior girl is there! Oh wait…she’s brunette. And overweight. Nevermind) are talking up the Black and White Affair.  Morgan is pumped because they got the Surf and Sand, which we later find out costs like a thousand bucks a night.  Like…are we serious!?

LC is saying that you won’t be let in if you are wearing ANY color.  Then she just kind of giggles and shakes her head.  Uh oh…hope Morgan didn’t notice that! She is all about the dress code being followed.  We don’t want any more bad reports from the sophomores (who won’t even be there)!!

Then there’s like a full minute of Stephen and LC making eyes at each other.  They finally get up and tell everyone they are leaving. Back to Stephen’s house for a different kind of party hehe (barf).  The evening closes with a shot of a full moon so big it’s like we suddenly transported to a scene from the “Lion King.”

Next day.  Kind of a boring scene.  Stephen goes to visit LC’s family up at their new house, which is still being built.  We get to see the finished product in season 2 and DANG…it is one of the most incredible houses I’ve ever seen. Seriously, what DOES her dad do?? I feel like she says something here about her dad being an architect?? Not sure though, it’s hard to hear what she and Stephen are saying during that part.  Maybe he owns Laguna or something, who knows.  Jim and Kathy (LC’s rents) are shown for the first time, watching a palm tree get lowered in to the backyard.  Blah blah blah…LC gives Stephen a tour.  She has her own bathroom, duh.  And TWO closets…one for shoes. NICE.  Stephen makes a bunch of smart remarks, LC keeps acting like he’s the greatest thing ever. Maybe it’s because of his hot outfit. Today he is wearing a gray button down shirt, black board shorts, BLUE crew socks and clunky black tennis shoes.  YECH.  Let’s hope his kids with Kristin don’t get his sense of style.  He’s also sporting a baseball cap…BACKWARDS…cause he’s hard like that, y’all.   

Basically, that scene is all about aww, they’re buddies.  They talk about how gorgeous Laguna is and how hard it’ll be to leave, because it is the GREATEST place on earth.  I almost feel like I’m stuck in a Sweet Valley High book (the Francine Pascal series) where the characters mention on every other page that Sweet Valley is the most beautiful place ever and they are sooo lucky to live there and why would anyone ever leave?  Definitely not because the people suck!

On to Kristin whining to Talan…she is just sooo stressed over Stephen right now! He and LC hung out last night after Trey’s party!! He SAYS they didn’t hook up…but, you know.  He’s probably lying.  That LC! Such a witch with a ‘b’! If only Kristin hadn’t stayed home painting her nails and thinking about how hot her kids with Stephen would be she could have kept him from possibly having kids with LC!! Again, though…he SAYS they didn’t hook up [whatever “hook up” means exactly…they throw that word around almost as much as “drama” but never make it clear if this refers to just making out or…well…YOU know!].  Talan, ever the perceptive one, asks if this bothers Kristin, this friendship between LC and Stephen.  Talan may be cute, but he is not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. 

He is also not the classiest.  He talks about how it seems like Stephen and Kristin hook up, then Stephen and LC hook up, and then he just grabs one of them whenever he can.  Um. EW. (!!) I would probably punch a guy if he said something like that to me but Kristin just laughs.  I guess the truth if funnier than fiction.  He then says Laguna is too small and he needs to find more girls…he’s so sick of hooking up with the same ones!!! Life is so rough for Talan.  Kristin is all like, “what now? Which girls are you sick of hooking up with?” Of course you and LC, Kristin.  Again, I would punch the guy for saying something like that, but she cracks up.  Talan asks if she blames LC for Stephen straying.  She says she blames both of them, she just HATES LAUREN.  Talan says that’s pretty harsh.  Kristin laughs again.  Really, I think these two are made for each other.

OK, so LC and Lo are at the hotel where they are having the party, talking to the French (I think??) manager and closing the deal. I’m puzzled over his ethnicity, because he has a French accent but his name is Jan.  Is that a French name? Why am I stuck on this? Anyhoo, he says that the hotel usually rents for $700 a night ($700, $1000…I was close). Lo’s like, “fabulous! My weekly allowance!”  Or maybe just the “fabulous” part but the last part is probably true, too.  The space is awesome…big suite and a huge deck.  Jan says, though, that because it’s so close to other rooms they need to not get too loud.  It’s not like they’re throwing a dance party though, right?  Of course not, Lo assures him.  Jan smiles but I think that’s doubt in his eyes.  We ARE talking about 30 unchaperoned teens here.  Lo’s skirt is also insanely short.  They are right next to the beach…isn’t it really windy? I hope she’s wearing shorts or something under that because I smell a wardrobe malfunction. 

Off to the boys! Trey, Polster, and Stephen are hanging out together at Locals Only Vintage Clothing (totally sounds like the hip guy hangout in Laguna).  Once inside, though, I’d never guess that’s the kind of store it is because there really aren’t many clothes around, but a sitting area and lots of antique-looking pots.  Trey and Polster want to know who Stephen is taking to the Black and White Affair, LC or Kristin?  I would think this would be an easy answer for Stephen since Kristin IS his girlfriend, but he’s all like, “there’s mad tension, dude.”  Polster’s all like, “dude, can you imagine Kristin and LC fighting over you?” Dude, if only we were all as awesome and hot as STEPHEN!!! 

Then Stephen says something that causes me to think that Kristin never actually watched Laguna Beach…our hottie is describing what he likes about both girls and, I QUOTE: “Kristin’s like a really good girl to hook up with and have fun with” (!!!), but when it comes down to boyfriend/girlfriend, he admits that LC is the more logical choice.  Kristin’s just so much drama, y’all.  Seriously, though—what the heck?!?!? He openly admits that Kristin’s just the girl to hook up with…does she know he feels this way? Does she even care? I guess that’s the better question to ask.  This IS Laguna after all, where character and personality come after hotness and hook-up potential.  In any case, Stephen is just totally screwed, y’know? He’s going to hurt SOMEONE when he makes his final choice.  Stephen’s life may be even harder than Talan’s!! If only there were enough of Stephen to go around.  *sigh* [vomit]

Skip to nighttime…Stephen and Kristin are on a date.  It starts out friendly enough.  We find out that Kristin’s dad’s name is Dennis.  At dinner, Stephen wastes no time bringing up the lying thing…dude, why is she mad at him? What is she saying he’s lied about? Duh, Stephen…you told her you were going home after Trey’s party but someone definitely saw you leaving LC’s house late at night! I love Stephen’s reaction…he pauses and you can SERIOUSLY see the wheels turning in his head like BUSTED!! How do I get out of this one?! But Kristin’s doesn’t wait for any sort of reply. She knows he was there.  Don’t deny it.

Ok, he admits he was there but it was SO not a big deal!! Kristin’s like, ok, so why did you go then?  Stephen’s reply…omg…as much as I don’t like Kristin, she has every right to be mad at him after this retardedness: he says that LC was just feeling sooo uncomfortable at the BBQ because people were all asking her what was going on between her and Stephen and she just didn’t know what to say! Kristin totally hits the nail on the head when she’s like, “WTF?! Um, how about saying NOTHING is going on between you two?!” Right??? Owned!!

Stephen says she must not feel that way.  Oh, grow a pair, Stephen.  I hate how he never takes any responsibility for HIS actions.  Maybe if you didn’t freaking lead LC on, she would get a clue! But no, he continues to NOT clarify his relationship with Kristin and simultaneously bend to LC’s every whim.  WHY DOES EVERYONE WORSHIP THIS GUY!? Oh right…because he’s all tan. 

Kristin says, whatever, but all she heard was that they had sex (oh…so I guess that’s what “hooking up” meant in that case), blah blah blah.  Well, I’ll give her this one.  I’d be mad if my “bf” did that too.  Seriously you guys—figure out your status!!!  Unfortunately, she doesn’t stay ticked off.  She tells him that, whatever, she’s over it and ready to move on.  They stare at each other for a few lines of a song then Stephen runs his hand through his hair. Ahhh, the drama-filled life of a Californian god.

Well, it’s party time! Christina, Morgan, LC and Lo are all getting ready for the big affair! They are doing their makeup and talking about, what else, how much they love doing their makeup and getting ready for fancy events!  They also chat about dresses they’ve worn to past parties and dances…apparently, while everyone else had hideous dresses freshmen year, Lo had this totally cute one from BCBG or something.  And don’t none of y’all forget it, ‘kay? However, for this evening, Lo was SO hoping to find a white dress (all four girls are in black), as was Morgan.  But dang it all, those are hard to come by! Good ones, anyway.  Lo hasn’t found a cute white dress in, like, forever.  They are all so trashy!

SOMEONE in Laguna has a cute white dress though (and, some might argue, trashy…haha)! Guess who?!? Cue shot of Kristin in a WHITE skin tight mini dress.  Alex the Tool is telling her how pretty she looks!  She needs help finding cute shoes to go with it.  Her other bestie, Jessica (who we haven’t officially met yet), has a preference but eh…Kristin is just not into it.  She isn’t into going to the party, actually.  SO WHY IS SHE GOING?!?!  As much as I don’t get WHY LC would agree to inviting her mortal enemy, I don’t get why Kristin even cares about going! I guess she just wants to crash it?? Show off being there with Stephen?? Is it worth the agony of getting all dolled up for a party you aren’t feeling? Again…life is so hard in Laguna.   

The boys are all snazzy now, getting ready to go pick Kristin and the other juniors who are going.  Stephen runs over Dieter’s cologne in his truck.  Why Dieter had his cologne laying out in the driveway is never explained, but he’s pretty ticked about it…it gives him a great opportunity to drop the f-bomb like ten times though.  They spat it out for a while. Snore.  Oh yeah. Stephen is wearing a blue t-shirt (!!) under his black jacket! Uh oh!! He’s so not getting into the party! (HA)

FINALLY it’s the actual event!  They break the screen up into several little screens so that we get LOTS of shots of everyone having fun! Yay! Success! Well…sort of.  Lo and LC are bugging because Stephen and the juniors aren’t there yet. Where ARE they? LC says she just talked to Dieter and he says that he, Stephen, Kristin and Jessica (Dieter’s gf, FYI)…oh, and Alex, but he doesn’t bother to mention her, I guess…are going to stop by but not for long.  They are headed for Polster’s.  WHAT?! LC and Lo can’t fathom this!!! Why aren’t they staying for the whole thing?! Don’t they know it’s the party of the year?! *I* want to know why Polster isn’t at the Black and White Affair.  They’re inviting crazy juniors but not THE party enthusiast?! Why am I even trying to figure out Laguna…

We get a shot of Dieter and crew making their way to the hotel room.  Kristin looks totally pissed, of course. She’s all, “I only want to stay FIVE MINUTES.” Stephen makes a snarky remark and she’s all, “I’m sorry that I don’t want to spend time with her, Stephen!” Oooh! Maybe she is not as “over it” as she said! This is going to be a great party!

Knock at hotel suite door.  LC dashes to answer it. YAY!!! Stephen! Boo! Kristin! Kristin stomps by without a hello, but LC scores a hug from Stephen.  Christina’s practically bursting at the seams with excitement! “This is fun now!” she exclaims.  Obviously she also believes that the party doesn’t REALLY start till Stephen’s arrived!!  Christina wants to turn the music up and DANCE!! And squeal, apparently.  That crazy girl!! Can you believe she’s the REVEREND’S daughter?!

Soon everyone is dancing like lunatics and it’s getting LOUD. Oh uh! What will Jan say?! Kristin and crew are sitting off to the side, looking like they can’t believe what they are seeing.  Again, WHY did she even come?! Apparently the party-crashing possibility was off-base since she’s not even trying to do that. Lame!  She also says something like, “Stephen said we were only going to stay five minutes! Yeah, whatever.”  Um, no, sweetie, I’m pretty sure YOU said that.  The peroxide from her hair must be seeping into her brain.  Anyhoo, she’s SO ready to leave.  She says to the crew around her, “this is, like, the boycotting hotel room party right here!”  I guess she’s still got her perception skills. 

Side note: I just noticed that Jen Bunney is one of the girls in the boycotting room. She hasn’t been introduced yet in this season but for anyone who has seen the Hills (and even Laguna 2), isn’t she on Team LC? Why is she in there agreeing with Kristin?  Pre-shadow to her backstabbing ways, I guess.  I do like her hair here though…it’s not so dark and just looks better on her, IMHO.

LC and a friend are smirking that Kristin is the ONLY girl wearing white! How ironic, they say! Two seconds later, Kristin herself announces very loudly the same thing (just the white dress part, not the irony part).  “I’m different!” she yells.  Like we needed that clarification. 

Then she starts yapping about how she JUST WANTS TO LEAVE.  I WANT TO LEAVE! She yells.  It really is getting obnoxious and I have to agree with LC who says to a friend, “I swear, if Kristin says she wants to leave one more time I will throw her over the balcony!” haha! But yeah. Just leave already, Cava-whatever your last name is.  Finally, she yells at Stephen and next thing you know, they are striding back to the car…Alex comes running after them and is all, “wait, we’re leaving? Why!?” Stop being a mindless clone, Al! Stand up for yourself and go party if you want to party! Gahhhh!!! Her dress is super cute, though.

Meanwhile, LC is all bummed.  This is obvious from her sad face and loud sighs.  She tells a guy friend out on the deck that she is “so bummed right now.”  He tries to make her feel better by reminding her that there is still a “skinny dipping sesh” coming up later.  Yeessssss.  LC amazingly does not perk up at this.  Sad music begins to play as she stares sadly out at the water, alone on the deck (p.s. the decorations they put up suck).  Stephen and crew drive away.  She is all alone now.  *tear*  So much for the best party of the year. 

And so the first episode of LB fades out. 

Thank goodness she still has midnight skinny dipping in the ocean to look forward to.      

I always thought would come back to win NH, but Iowa? Wow!
