Aku sedang berenang dihotel besar. Aku main laptop dimalam hari. Dan aku membujuk mama untuk tidur di kamar Ba Indi. Lalu aku mengambil Pooh dari kamar. Tapi, aku marah karena kalau pintunya ditutup aku tidak bisa keluar. Lalu, Kak Vivi sudah tidur pulas. Om Mada sedang bermain laptop. Aku duduk dikursi. Tidak ada yang menonton TV jika tidak perlu harus hidup hemat. Tiba-tiba  ada suara seperti ledakan besar. Semua penduduk hotel kaget. Termasuk aku dan Ba Indi juga kaget. Ada suara sirene ambulans. Oh ternyata itu cuma alarm mobil…. Leganya…. Sebelum tidur kami menonton konser di Antv. Kami disuruh menggosok gigi oleh Tante Didin. Lalu kami menggosok gigi dan mencuci kaki supaya bersih. Dan kami kembali kekamar. Lalu kami melanjutkan main laptop. Kami mematikan semua lampu yang tidak perlu. Om MaDa datang lagi kekamar. Tapi seseorang lupa mematikan TV. Kami juga mengganti baju. Ada yang berwarna biru dan pink. Dan aku harus menggaruk punggung Ka Vivi. Tapi kami tidak menggaruk punggung Ka Vivi. Pooh juga ikut main laptop. Dan dikamar sangat gelap. Tadinya dingin sekarang panas Oh itu sangat aneh….

When something taste like ‘noting’ what is this nothing? You taste this ‘nothing’ when you are not eating anything, or when there is no any distinct taste in your mouth. But is this taste ‘nothing’? I randomly came across this fact and I find it fascinating. This taste that apparently has no taste is actually our own saliva. So technically, it really isnt nothing, but it is it’s own taste. Our taste buds are just so accustomed to it, that it treats it as the ‘neutral’ taste. So next time think about when you are about to say stuff like ‘Man this doesn’t taste like anything.’ or ‘ I can’t taste anything at the moment.’ You are tasting something, your spit.

Alright another thought that I came across today. Winnie the Pooh. So basically it is a ‘pooh’ named Winnie. Alright so what is this pooh that has a name named after it? I understand taht Winnie the Pooh is a stuffed bear, but really? Pooh? Where did it come from? I was in complete shock over this up until someone explained it to me. His name is Winnie the Pooh, that is it’s whole name. Pooh is just part of his name. Alright, now that brings me to the next question, who in the world would name something with the word ‘the’ in it? Yes I understand, an example would be Alexander the Great, but that is only his nickname, a name he is known for, he had an actual legit name before that. But what about pooh? If Winnie the Pooh is actually the actual name of the yellow honey bear, how does that name make sense?

E’ ‘Qpga’, il nuovo doppio album di Claudio Baglioni, contenente 52 brani, che uscirà venerdì. Non un remake, né la riedizione del disco del ‘72. Non solo un “disco-storia”, anche se tutti i brani raccontano la storia di Giulia e Andrea: il primo grande amore, quello che non dura tutta la vita, ma te la cambia per sempre. Non una semplice raccolta di canzoni, ma l’inedito incontro tra molte forme musicali: ouverture, preludi, interludi, brani musicali, temi e melodie che si intrecciano e si rincorrono. Un’opera popolare moderna. Un lavoro corposo, che si è alimentato con le parole del romanzo, le immagini del film e le emozioni dei concerti, nei quali le canzoni sono state eseguite dal vivo, prima di essere incise. Un disco totalmente nuovo dal punto di vista musicale e letterario. Non una ’semplice’ riscrittura, ma una composizione musicale completamente rinnovata. Una partitura nella quale si fondono brani editi e inediti con brani e momenti musicali che nascono dalla contaminazione degli uni e degli altri. “Proprio come i personaggi della storia, anche i diversi caratteri melodici – si legge nelle note di Baglioni – cambiano posizionamento sulla ’scena’ della narrazione musicale, diventando, di volta in volta, protagonisti, antagonisti, comprimari, personaggi di seconda linea o semplici voci di coro”.

Così Giuseppe Tornatore ha descritto il discorso del Papa rivolto ieri in Vaticano, nella Cappella Sistina, a oltre 260 esponenti del mondo della cultura, dal cinema all’architettura, passando per poesia, danza, musica, teatro e fotografia. Tra i presenti, i fratelli Taviani, Nanni Moretti, Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone, i premi Oscar Dante Ferretti, Francesca Lo Schiavo e Gabriella Pescucci, Maria Luisa Spaziani, Liliana Cavani, Ugo Nespolo, Lino Banfi, Claudio Baglioni col figlio Giovanni, Terence Hill, i Pooh nella nuova formazione a tre, Sergio Castellitto (che ha letto un brano della lettera di Giovanni Paolo II) con la moglie Margaret Mazzantini, la soprano Daniela Dessì, Riccardo Cocciante, Antonello Venditti, Peter Greenaway, Monica Guerritore, Raoul Bova (uno dei pochi con meno di 40 anni), Carla Fracci. Fra tanti abiti scuri, ha scelto un completo un po’ più casual uno dei pochi israeliani intervenuti (tre in tutto), Samuel Maoz, Leone d’oro quest’anno a Venezia per «Lebanon»: «Mi pare – ha detto – che il Papa abbia detto un grande no all’odio e alla guerra e un grandi sì all’amore e all’arte». Bocelli si è detto emozionatissimo «nel sentire nelle parole del Papa questa fiducia rinnovata nella nostra attività d’artisti». Il Papa, ha commentato Raoul Bova «ha messo in rilievo i valori più alti del nostro mestiere, che non è solo gossip». «Io dal Papa non c’ero. Mi hanno citato fra i presenti – ha detto Marco Bellocchio – e io all’inizio avevo anche detto sì, ma poi per coerenza non sono andato». Infatti, ieri mattina il regista era a Torino. «Ci deve essere – ha detto – una corrispondenza fra ciò che si fa e ciò che si crede. E se io credo che l’aborto non sia un assassinio, che non è giusto che il crocifisso incomba nelle scuole, che vietare il preservativo in Africa sia un crimine, ecco, allora faccio come Ernesto Picciafuoco, il protagonista del mio “L’ora di religione”, e ad applaudire il Papa non vado».

In 260 alla Cappella Sistina per rendere omaggio al Papa

ROMA – Duecentosessanta artisti nella Cappella Sistina, chiamati di fronte a Papa Benedetto XVI. Da Vadim Ananiev a Claudio Baglioni, da Roberto Vecchioni a Antonello Venditti, dal maestro Ennio Morricone a Marco Frisina, e poi Riccardo Cocciante, Andrea Bocelli. Una pletora di artisti prima in sfilata poi in chiesa, eppure i musicisti più applauditi al passaggio in via della Conciliazione, questa mattina, sono stati i Pooh. Ormai in pensione, e di nuovo insieme in Vaticano. Tra gli attori Raoul Bova, molto ben accolto tra urla e schiamazzi composti, e Claudio Amendola, Terence Hill e Maddalena Crippa, Anna Proclemer, Irene Papas, Monica Guerritore, Pamela Villoresi, Franco Nero e Arnoldo Foa. Tra i registi l’immancabile Franco Zeffirelli, Pupi Avati, Mario Monicelli, Marco Bellocchio, Nanni Moretti, Giuseppe Tornatore, Liliana Cavani e Kryzstof Zanussi e i fratelli Taviani. Tra i 260 c’erano anche ballerine di fama mondiale come Carla Fracci e Liliana Cosi, oltre ai registi teatrali come Maurizio Scaparro e Luca Ronconi. Tanti, puntuali, arrivati alle 11. L’arte nella Cappella Sistina per un incontro fortemente voluto dal presidente del pontificio consiglio della cultura, monsignor Gianfranco ravasi.

“Con grande gioia vi accolgo in questo luogo solenne e ricco di arte e di memorie. Rivolgo a tutti e a ciascuno il mio cordiale saluto, e vi ringrazio per aver accolto il mio invito”, ha detto Benedetto XVI dando il benvenuto agli artisti. “Con questo incontro – ha spiegato il Pontefice – desidero esprimere e rinnovare l’amicizia della Chiesa con il mondo dell’arte, un’amicizia consolidata nel tempo, poiché il Cristianesimo fin dalle sue origini, ha ben compreso il valore delle arti e ne ha utilizzato sapientemente i multiformi linguaggi per comunicare il suo immutabile messaggio di salvezza”.

Il primo a prendere la parola in Sistina per l’incontro tra il Papa e gli artisti è stato Sergio Castellitto che al micorfono ha letto alcuni brani della Lettera di Giovanni Paolo II agli artisti. La sua voce era emozionata quando ha detto: “L’arte continua a costituire una sorta di ponte verso la fede, un appello al mistero” per spiegare perché “la Chiesa ha bisogno degli artisti” e si domanda: “Anche gli artisti hanno bisogno della Chiesa?”.

Se non si lasciano illudere. Il Papa ammonisce. “Troppo spesso, la bellezza che viene propagandata è illusoria e mendace, superficiale e abbagliante fino allo stordimento e rende schiavi, privi di speranza e di gioia”, avverte il Pontefice. Parla di bellezza a chi bellezza cerca di creare. E per il Pontefice può essere “seducente ma ipocrita”, in grado di “ridestare la brama, la volontà di potere, di possesso, di sopraffazione sull’altro e che si trasforma, ben presto, nel suo contrario, assumendo i volti dell’oscenità, della trasgressione o della provocazione fine a se stessa”. C’è solo un tipo di bellezza. “L’autentica – ha ricordato Papa Ratzinger – schiude il cuore umano alla nostalgia, al desiderio profondo di conoscere, di amare, di andare verso l’altro, verso l’oltre da sè. Se accettiamo che la bellezza ci tocchi intimamente, ci ferisca, ci apra gli occhi, allora riscopriamo la gioia della visione”. L’invito di Benedetto XVI agli artisti di tutto il mondo è stato quindi quello di “non aver paura”, di non temere il confronto con “la sorgente prima e ultima della bellezza”. Perché “la fede non toglie nulla al vostro genio, alla vostra arte, anzi li esalta e li nutre”, ha detto.

Al termine del suo discorso, dopo un lungo applauso che ha coinvolto anche i più laici tra i presenti, Benedetto XVI ha lasciato la Cappella Sistina, delegando all’arcivescovo Gianfranco Ravasi la consegna delle medaglie agli artisti. E l’arcivescovo, grande organizzatore dell’incontro di oggi, ha parlato, sorriso con ciascuno, scherzando con Lino Banfi, ascoltando con attenzione i commenti dei fratelli Taviani, complimentandosi con la Mazzantini per il recente premio Campiello e infine rivolgendosi con un divertito “Don Matteo” a un impettito ed elegante Terence Hill.

Innlegget mitt i går, med et bilde av meg og min snart seks år gamle schäfer, sa ikke så veldig mye mer enn at noe kanskje var galt.
Noe var galt. Var.
Verdens fineste, lydigste, nydligste og feiteste hund fikk kreft. I tillegg fikk hun påvist noe som heter “schäfer-kløe” da hun var ett år gammel, hvilket over tid svikter immunforsvaret og skranter de berømte, indre organer.

I kveld, klokken halv syv, var Ba (morfar), mamma og jeg hos dyrlegen, hvor Ninja ble avlivet.
Jeg husker ikke sist jeg gråt på denne måten.
Følelsen av å se det levende vesnet du bryr deg mest om i verden lukke øynene og slutte å puste er ubeskrivelig. Selv er jeg det de må kalle utrøstelig. Høh. Ingenting hjelper, og jeg klarer ikke å gjøre det innlegget her bedre enn jeg føler meg… I’m out.

On our last trip to see my parents, my mom produced a box from her fabric stash labeled “think sleepers”. It was filled with the scraps from many knit projects she had done over the years. She offered me whatever I wanted from the box and I pretty much took the whole box. (I didn’t take any pieces that did not have enough yardage for a sleeper or was not  really baby in color or print.) I had a great time going through the box and brought home some great pieces. Thanks, Mom.

One of the pieces in the box was this blue chest stripe knit. There was not enough fabric for a sleeper with matching stripes so I decided to turn the fabric as I cut out the sleepers and not worry about the stripes. By doing this I had enough fabric for 2 sleepers. I think they turned out adorable. I was able to use my smaller sleeper pattern and I had more fun sewing them together by not worrying about the stripes. The next baby shower I have been invited to is for a little girl so the embroidery designs I picked were feminine. I hope her mom likes them.

One of these sleepers also gave me the chance to use my clear fingernail polish I had mentioned in my flag repair post. One of the white zippers I had had a damaged end. It was still long enough to use after cutting of the damaged end. So, to seal the ends of the zipper and keep them from fraying, I applied just a touch of clear finger nail polish to the ends and it worked out great.

I have been to baby showers for little girls and all the gifts are usually pink. So, I try not to make all the sleepers I give, pink or totally girly, but the 3rd sleeper I made is all girl. I have several yards of this rainbow fabric and it has been living in my stash for many years. The reason it has never been sewn up before is how thin it is. I think this little girl will fit in this sleeper in the middle of summer and the thinner fabric should work just fine when it is warmer outside.

Between the bib’s, sleepers, and the christmas gift I embroidered I would say it was a very productive embroidery day!

People from the north of England were up to three times more likely to have hands contaminated with pooh than southerners a study has found.

The most likely explanation is that fewer northerners are washing their hands with soap after answering the call of nature, researchers said.

• In total, almost 30 per cent of people tested were carrying ‘faecal’ bacteria.

People in Newcastle were up to three times more likely to have the bugs on their hands than those in London.

The proportion of people found to have contaminated hands was

• 13 per cent in London;
• 23 per cent in Cardiff;
• 24 per cent in Birmingham;
• 34 per cent in Liverpool; and
• 44 per cent in Newcastle.

For just men:

• 6 per cent in London;
• 15 per cent in Cardiff;
• 21 per cent in Birmingham;
• 36 per cent in Liverpool; and
• 53 per cent in Newcastle.

For just women:

• 21 per cent in London;
• 29 per cent in Cardiff;
• 26 per cent in Birmingham;
• 31 per cent in Liverpool; and
• 30 per cent in Newcastle.

Women in London were around three times more likely than men to have faecal bacteria on their hands.

Ms.Val Curtis PhD, from ‘The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine‘ who led the study, said:

‘We were flabbergasted by the finding that so many people had faecal bugs on their hands.

‘The figures were far higher than we had anticipated, and suggest that there is a real problem with people washing their hands in the UK.

‘If any of these people had been suffering from diarrhoea disease, the potential for it to be passed around would be greatly increased by their failure to wash their hands after going to the toilet.’

Dr Curtis’s team took random swabs from the hands of 409 commuters waiting at bus stops near London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Cardiff Central, Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle Central stations on weekday mornings.

When they were analysed, 113 of the samples were found to contain bacteria from faeces.
