I needed some extra storage space, so I decided to purchase an external hard drive.
However I wanted to avoid all extra power cables, and a bulky device which is hard to carry around.
Regular external hard drives are mostly built to be placed on a desk next to your laptop.

Therefore I preferred the portable hard drive solution. Portable hard drives are powered via the USB cable/connection, and they are designed to be easily carried around (small size, low weight).

The product that I finally went for was a Verbatim 500GB, the Executive Arctic White edition.

Bought this generator without shopping around due to an emergency, but am very happy with my purchase. I didn’t want a diesel generator, because I don’t have anything else that runs on diesel, but this generator has changed my mind. The extended run time of a diesel generator over gasoline is reason enough to go with diesel. This thing runs for 12 hours on a 3 gallon tank of diesel! It is quite loud, but no more so than any other generator. I tried to run it in my detached garage, but the fumes quickly starved the generator for air and it died. This thing is a tank at 350 pounds, it is quite heavy. It runs both my sump pumps, fridge, lights, furnace, and television without a problem. My only complaint, and this is a small one, was that apparently they test them at the factory and then shipped them with diesel in the fuel line, which during shipping clogged the injectors, and initially it would not start. The dealer did replace the injector for free at purchase, and it runs great since then. I guess I would recommend monthly startups for maintenance to keep the injector clean, and it wouldn’t hurt to add some diesel fuel additive.

En este tutorial veremos como instalar el sistema operativo Damn Small Linux, una distribución de Linux ideada para ser portable mediante una maquina virtual, debido al poco espacio que necesita para funcionar bien (300 MB), para poder realizar la instalacion de Small Damn Linux en una maquina virtual previamente particionada os recomiendo la lectura de los dos tutoriales relacionados:

1. Creación de una maquina virtual con Virtual Box
2. Crear particiones con la herramienta cfdisk (Linux)

Una vez realizados los pasos explicados en los dos anteriores enlaces, podremos comenzar la sencilla y rápida instalación de Damn Small Linux.

Primero, tendréis que averiguar el nombre de vuestra partición primaria, para ello, podéis acceder a la herramienta cfdisk (simplemente teclear cfdisk en la terminal) y comprobar el nombre, podéis localizarlo fácilmente en la primera columna, llamada “Name“, memorizáis el nombre que aparece prestando atención a que es el nombre de la partición primaria y no el de la lógica, en este tutorial, consideraremos que el nombre de la partición primaria es “sda1″.

Para empezar la instalación debemos abrir la terminal (shell) y teclear  “sudo dsl-hdinstall sda1” (repito, sda1 es en mi caso), empezará la instalación no sin antes pedirnos diversas confirmaciones que en la imagen que pongo a continuación veréis, los recuadros rojos señalan todo lo que deberéis teclear salvo el nombre de la partición que puede ser distinta en vuestro caso y alguna opción que es mas bien opcional.

1. Iniciar la instalación del sistema operativo.
2. Introducir la partición en la que se instalará el sistema operativo, dependerá del nombre que haya recibido nuestra partición primaria, en mi caso “sda1“
3. Confirmamos si deseamos poder disponer de mas de un usuario en el Sistema operativo, (“y” para decir si, “n” para decir no)
4. Seleccionamos si deseamos utilizar el sistema de archivos Ext3 o el Ext2, nos avisa de que el sistema Ext3 necesita mas recursos que el Ext2, en mi caso, deseo un sistema ligero, por lo tanto, selecciono el sistema Ext2 tecleando “n“.
5. Nos avisa de que formateará la partición y perderemos todos los datos que hay en ella, confirmamos pues esta completamente vacía tecleando “y“
6. Nos preguntará si queremos un cargador de arranque (boot loader), en mi caso tecleo  “y” para que veáis las consiguientes preguntas sobre el boot loader, si escogéis que no (“n“) el sistema operativo cargará automáticamente sin necesidad de seleccionarlo primero, el boot loader es útil al disponer de varios S.O en una única maquina permitiéndote escoger cual iniciar, si vais a disponer únicamente de un SO, escoged que no queréis boot loader y pasad al paso 9 de este tutorial.
7. Podremos elegir entre el gestor de arranque GRUB o LILO, escoged el que os parezca mas bonito o que creáis es mejor, en mi caso, escojo GRUB pues se ha convertido en el estándar de los gestores de arranque, por lo tanto tecleo “g” (teclear “l” si preferís lilo)
8. Nos preguntará si tenemos instalado Windows en el ordenador (en mi caso en la maquina virtual) para así incluirlo en el GRUB y poder escoger cual de los dos iniciar, si disponemos de un Windows en el ordenador y estamos utilizando una maquina virtual para instalar el Damn Small Linux seleccionamos que no (“n“), pues el Windows no se encuentra en el mismo “ordenador” que el Linux, pensad que una maquina virtual simula ser un ordenador ajeno al nuestro por mucho que esté “dentro” del mismo.
9. Para que los cambios surtan efecto, reiniciamos el ordenador tecleando “y“

Listo, ya disponemos del Sistema operativo Damn Small Linux, una distribución de Linux fácilmente portable en cualquier pendrive gracias a los 300Mb que únicamente ocupa y gracias a las maquinas virtuales, pero que también puede serviros como SO en vuestro ordenador de sobremesa (no es la opción mas recomendable pero bueno…)

I appreciate the fact that the instructions are written on the base of the crib so they’re always available. Like others I used a different mattress, but didn’t mind because most cribs don’t come with a mattress.

What a great generator for the price and free shipping to boot! Ordered late Sat. and and arrived Tuesday! You can’t go wrong with this GEMerator. I was going to purchase the Honda IU2000 and know a couple of people that have them and use w/their RV’s. Liked the fact that they are super quiet but did not like the fact that they would only run 4hrs on a tank of fuel and would not run AC. This generator covers both these negatives w/flying colors and 1/3rd the price! Not as quiet as the Honda but not at all too noisy either. Don’t get me wrong…the Honda is a great generator but it comes at a cost.

The ETQ 4000 was very easy to start (2nd pull) and purred like a kitten. Put her to the test right away and everything worked flawlessly. I will put it through its paces this coming week at deer camp and will update as to how it performs in the field. So far very happy w/this purchase! Don’t worry about the ney sayer’s on adding oil and pull cord being an issue. Was no issue at all if you have any kind of mechanical skills. Pulled from box, set-up on work bench and filled w/oil and a little gas, pushed over choke lever and gave a pull. Pulled one more easy pull and she came to life. Was concerned before purchase as to how loud it would be but was very pleased!

THE ORDERING PROCESS WAS A BIT CONFUSING DUE TO IMMEDIATE CHECKOUT WHICH AUTOMATICLY ADDED THE SHIPPING WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. AFTER A FEW PHONE CALLS AND A PROMISE TO REMOVE THE FIRST ITEM AND BEING TOLD TO PLACE A NEW ORDER I NOW WAS GETTING TWO GENERATORS ONE WITH FREE SHIPPING AND THE SECOND ONE WITH SHIPPING. ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE AND AFTER A THREAT THAT THEY WOULD ONLY DO THIS ONE TIME THEY REMOVED THE SECOND GENERATOR WITH SHIPPING AND CREDITED MY CREDIT CARD. THE GENERATOR ARRIVED AND AFTER OPENING THE BOX I NOTICED TWO MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BROKEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AS OF TWO MONTHS I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NEW MOTOR MOUNTS. PERHAPS AMAZON CAN HELP SPEED UP MY MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE, ROBERT

This item shipped quickly, was easy to assemble, started right up when I filled it with approx 15 oz. of 10w30 oil and unleaded gas. The engine runs smooth; I was surprised how relatively quiet it was and how easy it was to move around with the handle and wheeling capability. You will need to fabricate a ground line from the generator for safety purposes. It handled my 6 circuits from my transfer switch with no problem i.e. with clean even power. It’s important to note that using the 4 pin 30 amp connector outlet (L14 30 type) will allow the generator to balance the different loads. The other 20amp connector outlet does not, according to the generator schematic. In summary, Iam impressed…great value for the money!

I bought it to use for the long flight to Japan from Ohio. We probably watched 8 hours but the player was still keep going. The price is great comparing to anything at local stores too. If something happened to the one we have, I definately get the exactly same one again.

Great player, even improved over last model! – W. E. Chase – San Diego
While we’ve only had this player a few weeks, we can say it made it through a 7.5 hr flight w/ our 3 yr old watching movies non-stop– a life-saver for all around us! We also had
Error H03 – Reader – USA
The player is well designed and easy to use. You can’t ask much more. But the battery didn’t last; what started as 4 hours of batter life was down to 2 hours after about 10 times I used it. And then I got the dreaded Error H03. Don’t buy this until you have read online about this error. Basically the motor burns out after about 20-30 movies and costs about to replace. I won’t buy another Panasonic.

Днес случайно ми попадна една рекламна брошурка. Поразгледах я и попаднах на два интересни продукта.Ооо, доста евтин плеър…Изненада! Това на картинката не е това което е описано вдясно. За незапознатите- това на картинката е iPod Shuffle 4G, продукт на Apple. Или това е поредния трик да си закупите плеъра, или просто плеъра на DIVA изглежда по същия начин.

Следващият продукт е:Звучи доста добре, нали? Камера, високоговорител, меню на български, FM радио, 1000 вградени игри… Pretty impressive!Я! Изглежда познато нали? Само че има един проблем… Ако си закупите това нещо, ще получите това от картинката, а не това което си мислите че е… За неразбралите- това на картинката изключително много прилича на PSP classic… Дори и аз се залъгах за момент. Най- лесният начин за проверка- ясно си личи, че под екрана го няма надписа ‘PSP’. Очевадно е също, че и цената е почти наполовина по- малка отколкото струва един PSP. Никъде не пише кой произвежда тази чудесия, следователно може и да идва от някой гараж в Китай. Ако си купите това нещо, то или няма да изглежда по този начин, или ще изглежда, но пак няма да е PSP.

Извод: Когато пазарувате, било то онлайн или на място в магазина, винаги си отваряйте очите! А ако вече знаете какво искате да си купите, проверете ‘предполагаемия’ продукт дали всъщност е искания от Вас.

П.П. Много мои приятели вече изгоряха с подобни продукти. Подлъгани от цената, те се озоваваха с коренно различни продукти.
