With Neelie Kroes (NL), Connie Hedegaard (DK) and John Dalli (MT) on Tuesday being nominated to the Commission, Mr. Barroso will now be able to start his distribution of portfolios. The Commission will then be up for the approval of the European Parliament, a process that probably will begin in Januar.

Looking at the 27 names, I am glad there are more women – nine in total – on the list than five years ago. With one of them being Catherine Ashton, who is up for the influential post as High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, it is pleasing that the EU is making progress in the area of gender equality.

The Sun is tackling the controversial subject of posing for Playboy magazine- an American magazine founded by Hugh Hefner containing images of naked women, interviews and fashion.

Founded in 1953, Playboy has featured the likes of American national treasure Marilyn Monroe and The King of Pop’s older sister LaToya Jackson.

Women who pose for Playboy will undoubtedly come across critics who will accuse them of degrading themselves for the sake of money.

But with a salary of approximately $25,000 (around £18,000) a month is this an offer too good to turn down? Why not make quicker earnings rather than be stuck in a dead-end job paying the minimum wage, some argue?

Of course the woman that poses nude for Playboy carries the risk of being seen as an object of sexual desire, and nothing more.

What people seem to forget is that the girls of the Playboy mansion are not all prostitutes, and if they are then that is wrong. A woman’s body is a temple and giving it up to any Tom, Dick and Harry is quite simply self abuse.

However,people often don’t realise that to be in Playboy you do not necessarily have to be naked- some are dressed in the iconic bunny outfits.

There is definitly the view that women who pose for Playboy, whether naked or not, are all beauty and no brains. An old Bible saying comes to mind here; “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Phoebe81 says: “I have no problem with getting my kit off and to be paid for it. I’d be laughing all the way to the bank.”

alliebabe agrees and said: “I’ve always fantasised about doing it and the thrill of it.”

gemmamariemc is more reluctant, stating “The thought of my dad, brothers,uncles, grandad etc coming across it is enough to put me off!”

emmazzz hits the nail right on the head when she argues: “I don’t have the body for it anyway, but have no problem with those that do. They aren’t harming anyone and aren’t exploited as the get paid good cash for it

“My daughter is a photographer and gets lots of women asking her to take nude shots for loved ones and portfolios. It’s become much more open in the last few years. As long as it’s tasteful I’ve no problems with it.”

“It’s a COMPLIMENT if a guy is jerking off to your picture or even thinking of you while he does it. It means you look HOT and are attractive and desirable. Sex is not bad…..relax and go with it. It’s a healthy, natural thing.”

A tad explicit, but funny nonetheless!

Is it a case of move on with times, women are free to do what they want with their bodies?

This hurts.  There are so many well-intentioned courses out there that, frankly, are useless. Can we separate the two?

Im heutigen Post möchte ich euch mal einen ganz besonderen Künstler vorstellen, den ich äußerst Schätze.

Sicherlich dürfte einigen der Name bekannt sein und ich selbst habe seine Seite des öfteren in diversen Foren gepostet unter anderem auch in meinem Forum.

Seine Arbeiten sprühen nur so von Ideenreichtum und wann immer ich seine Seite Besuche, juckt es Sprichwörtlich in meinen “Photoshop-Fingern”.

Do you keep a version of your portfolio on your cellphone? I can’t think of a reason not to. You never know who you’ll meet when you’re at an exhibition opening, on a plane, at a party, whatever, and while proffering a business card and mentioning who you’ve shot for can be effective, it seems like your actual work would be your best representative. And if you have an iPhone (or iPod Touch), you can get an app like Portfolio for $4.99 or download Flickr’s iPhone app for free. Having your portfolio with you at all times, in other words, costs a pittance.

Right about now, I’m feeling self-conscious about the fact that I only just got an iPhone and am in awe over it in a very 2007 way. Then again, I still see photographer websites that use Flash—new websites by established photographers—even though it’s well known by now that Flash makes it much harder for your site to be found by Web crawlers. (“Putting your entire website in Flash, or including captions and keywords in the image itself instead of as text below the image, is not advised if you expect search engine traffic,” notes PhotoShelter in an article on photographer websites.) So I’m operating on the premise that what’s old news to some people is a full-on discovery to others.

Portfolio vom Seminar am 16.11.09

Nachdem wir eine Einführung in die Softwarenutzung RSS bekommen haben, sind wir in eine Gruppenarbeit übergegangen. Wir sind Lernberater für Studierende, denen wir Lerninhalte (welcher Art und Form, Organisation und Clustern der Li) zum Studium näher bringen sollen. Als wir mit der Erarbeitung begonnen haben, sind wir auf der organisatorischen Ebene vorgegangen (Institutionengliederung). Diese Vorgehensweise macht für die Universität Sinn. Meine Vorstellung war: Wie finde ich mich schnell als neuer Student an der Universität zurecht. In dieser Aufstellung ist es schwierig einen individuellen Wissensprozess zu integrieren. Somit fand ich die Gruppe 3, die Lernberater für wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter sind, mit ihrem Wissensansatz interessant. Habe ich nun die Möglichkeit beide Ebenen zu vernetzen. Die Organisation des Lernens und der Lernprozess an sich sind gerade bei Studenten nicht voneinander zu trennende Bausteine. Optimal wäre, für gute Lernerfolge beide Bausteine möglichst stark aufeinander abzustimmen. Man könnte so vorgehen, dass Lernprozesse beobachtet und analysiert werden. Diese Prozessgliederung kann dann mit der organisatorischen Gliederung verglichen werden. Wo sind Schnittstellen, wo gibt es Probleme usw. Da die Universität eine sehr große Institution ist, ist es schwierig Organisationsstrukturen zu verändern. Also muss ich als Einzelner oder als kleine Gruppe schauen, wie schaffe ich es, gut zu Lernen. Wie bereits festgestellt hat jeder seine persönliche Lernumgebung. Auch wissen wir, dass es wichtig ist wie Lerninhalte vermittelt werden. Ich denke da ist ein guter Ansatzpunkt. Für mich ist eine sehr gute Lernstrategie, dass ich zuerst einmal Informationen zu verschiedensten Wissensgebieten bekomme. Dies kann auf unterschiedlichste Weise passieren. Selber lesen und erarbeiten, Frontalunterricht, Gruppenarbeit, Theater usw.. Mit diesem Wissen muss ich aber dann in ein Gespräch gehen, am Besten sind Diskussionen mit verschiedensten Meinungen. Erst über diese Gespräche behalte ich das Wissen und kann Neues dazulernen. Ich finde es auch wichtig Nachdenkzeit zu haben. Ein guter Ansatz hierbei ist sicherlich ein Lerntagebuch zu führen. Dies erfordert wiederum einen sehr konsequenten Arbeitsstil. Wer lernen will und muss, braucht aus meiner Sicht viel Disziplin und muss sich selbst motivieren können.

Light’s, Model’s & Photographer’s … what a wonderful combination isn’t it ? last weekend i attended a portrait workshop organised by Dr. Prem Muthu & co. It was a wonderful session. Dr. Prem taught us about studio lighting’s. It was a wonderful experience to learn from Dr. Prem. If any  photographer want to take photography the next level then it would be studio lights & off camera lighting ,there is no question about it. Especially the growing trend in cities not allowing photographer’s to use outdoor locations due to the security reason’s, Setting up a small studio is every photographer’s dream. It’s very challenging to work out a theme & set the lights , finally achieve what you want.

Being in front of the the camera & posing for the photographer’s is completely a very different ball game. It ’s very difficult work than taking pictures. Thanks to the model’s who where so enthusiastic the whole day posing for the photographer’s, suggesting what pose would work well & whole lot of costume changes. I thank them for all their patience & co operation during the shoot. It’s their effort that yielded some wonderful pictures during the workshop.

Finally not to mention making some new photographer friends, learning from each other, sharing each other’s ideas for the light set up, sharing ideas. Also for the wonderful meals arranged at the workshop.

This post is a small dedication to all my friend’s i met during the workshop. It was a wonderful day being there & meeting so many creative minds.

Les portfolios

Il existe 4 types de portfolios. Il y a le le portfolio d’apprentissage, le portfolio de présentation, le portfolio d’évaluation et celui de développement professionnel. Selon moi, mon blogue est plus du type portfolio de développement professionnel, car sur celui-ci je parle de moi-même, de mes intérêts et du cheminement de mes compétences.

Big thanks to Professor Slayton, Professor Smith, Professor Davis and all of the students who participated in today’s Senior Portfolio Review. It’s so encouraging to see quality student work coming from my alma mater! LU’s design program is definitely headed in the right direction, thanks to it’s outstanding faculty.

My super dramatic campaign on Visual Comm was totally funny and I’m attached to it. Its concept is “Siamnism’s values” (from “Siam” + “-nism”). The idea popped onto my head when I walked pass Siam everyday but Case in point, They think they’re cool but humorous my sight. I created the supportive backgrounds to approach themes easy to get and I thought my ridiculous supportive models did help. Check it out for all and you will laugh your ass off x

My pain-in-the-ass project featured many chums of mine. I thought my photos would be so kicked ass but they weren’t ,they were left at sixes and sevens. This campaign is a kinda okay but not great. The whole concept is “Drink! for what?”. For whoever who can remember my face, yes! I was taking a role at the number “6″ on my works too and mine was energy drinker. I thought I wouldn’t be eliminated if I were on ANTM lol.

Can you guess what are those themes?

Thanks God! I finally found it after I’ve delved for a year (maybe I exaggerate) lol. Here’s my piece of portrait photos under the theme “Tell me I’m not dying” for a boring subject my faculty , don’t be surprised on the make up I know It were messed but I truly wanted to be like what you see ; mysterious and haunted, huh?
