I’ve found that skinning is quite a lucrative gathering profession.  I picked it up on my pally, Izold, thinking that the critical chance bonus would serve her well as she was going to be ret.  I soon realized that dungeon que’ing as a dps was “for the birds.”  So, I respecced her tank, but kept skinning.

Enough about that, let’s talk about how to make at least 2,ooo gold per hour in Uldum by skinning.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1.)  525 skinning

2.) 1 potion of treasure finding

Any time I farm stuff I have a potion of treasure finding active.  It gives you a chance, albeit small, to sometimes also loot a small treasue chest.  These chests contain gold, random mats like volatiles or ore, boe’s, and tons of embersilk cloth.  Plus, if you’re like me and you like the thrill of hoping that the next kill will be “the one” that drops something extra, it provides that for you.

Savage Leather is skinned from Cataclysm beast mobs and it sells for a ton.  1 goes for anywhere from 7g to 12g depending on what day it is.

I don’t have a pic or a video (still learning wp), but I will tell you that I just did this and here’s what I got:

grey items/vendor trash (78g 12s 15c)

2 stacks of embersilk cloth ( 110g)

6 boe greens (87g if sold/135g if disenchanted)

1 ilvl 333 boe blue (122g)

4 pyrite ore (40g)

3 elementium ore (21g)

coin from drops (43g)

8 stacks of savage leather (1250g or 1550 if you have a leatherworker turn them into heavy’s)

3 volatile air (65g)

4 volaile earth (41g)

2 volatile fire (32g)

This was one of my low-end runs of it.  The chests that I looted this time weren’t quite as good as they normally are, but I feel it is my duty to report to you honest figures.  Also, I tend to get more boe greens than that.  I was rather disappointed with 6.

This is only 1 of many (probably hundreds) ways to make 2k farming savage leather.  I know some people farm in Twilight Highlands near the shore in that dragon area.  On my server, Azgalor, there are always people there and the mobs seem to be spread out quite bit.
