Gentle Reader, sometimes The Practical Cook plans menus by inquiring what the Juniors are in the mood to eat. Sometimes she plans strictly be the seasons and the weather. And sometimes she plans with two calendars in hand and the culinary equivalent of a defensive playbook in hand. This is that week.

Having stocked up over the various weeks in anticipation of upcoming travel and general mayhem, I don’t require a lot of goods to execute on the strategy. A few fresh items, a plan, and a bit of luck are all that’s required.

Weekly Menus for this week are:

Weekly Menus: 1/22/2012

The Four-Square Grocery Shopping list is:

The Four-Square Grocery Shopping List: 1/22/2012

Which translates into:

Sunday: Chili and Cornbread
Bonus, I get to show up with an appetizer to this fine event.

Monday: Salmon Cakes and something green
Perhaps I’ll make slaw and something in the potato family to go with.

Tuesday: Fridge Surprise
Clean-up day!

Wednesday: Chicken and Dumplings
Scheduling didn’t permit me to be the dumpling maker this past holiday season, and I’ve had these hermetically sealed in the freezer, waiting to bring them out. This is that week.

Thursday: Tacos!
Because I’m still working through 1/4 of a cow, and tacos make everyone happy.

Friday: Sammies.
A fabulous way to use up bread and be creative at the same time!

Saturday: Dine Out!
More to come on this.

What are you eating this week? What do you make when you need to be efficient with your time? Post a comment below, I won’t bite, unless you’re deep-fried of course.
