Hi, as promised, here’s the first review about a product that didn’t work like expected.

Hi,

as promised, here’s the first review about a product that didn’t work like expected. If you considered getting an AccountNow card, read this!

Granted, the AccountNow sign-up page looks promising. But did you know that you have to pay $9.95 monthly and $15.95 just to close your account?

The following is a review by C. Channing that I wanted to share with you:

AccountNow is a prepaid debit card I found on creditcards.com. They specialize mainly with people wanting a second chance with a checking account, but my main purpose for using it was as an alternative to loading it with my PayPal payments, so I wouldn’t have to give PayPal my personal bank account information.

Since they don’t perform credit checks, the application was simple: name, mailing address, and email. I was instantly approved and received my Account Now card ten days later. I read through the policy guidelines and noticed they had a monthly fee which could be avoided by direct deposit. I called the eight hundred number and activated my card; I include the card’s checking number and routing number to my PayPal account so I could do direct deposit. After PayPal transferred the money on to my card, I noticed I was down ten dollars; I got upset so I went to their website to see what was going on. After logging in, I noticed they deducted the ten dollar monthly fee, even after I did a direct deposit. Because they charge you to call their customer service, I sent them an email explaining my situation and how I wanted my ten dollars back. They told me they couldn’t refund my money because the direct deposit came after I activated the card and if I want to cancel the card it would COST ME fifteen dollars – crooks.

Suffice it to say, they never refunded my money and I never gave them fifteen dollars. I thought about sending them five dollars for the cancellation fee because they already had my ten dollars. Even though I don’t use the card anymore, they still charge me ten dollars every month until recently. I guess they got the hint and figured I was not worth the energy – same here.

My experience with Account Now prepaid card was a horrendous one. They took money from me and then wanted more money to discontinue my use of the card. They tack on all these high and unsuspecting fees – what company really charges their customers for calling and asking for help? It was ridiculous and outrageous. I would never apply for anything with the name Account Now. They are a complete rip-off and I warn anyone against applying for a debit card with them.

A harsh review. But C. Channing found a better alternative: The Vision Premier prepaid card:

After my horrible ordeal with AccountNow, I decided to give the whole prepaid debit card another try because I still was not comfortable with putting my real bank information on PayPal. I went to creditcards.com again and found a card more interesting in terms of fees. The Vision Premier Prepaid debit card is a prepaid card whose motto is low fees or none at all.

I was redirected to Vision Premier Prepaid card site and the application was the same as before: name, mailing address, and email. Again, I would have to wait ten days until I received my new prepaid card, but it was worth it. Once I received my card, I made sure to read over all the cardholder policies and to deposit money before activating the card.

I transferred my money from PayPal and this time I was happy with the results; no fees and none of my money was missing. I didn’t want to go to a local load place because they would charge me at the very least five dollars to load; therefore, I opted the PayPal route and I got to load my money on the card with no fees. The best part about Vision Premier prepaid card is they have it set up where I can transfer my money from the card to my bank account securely. I feel both comfortable and safe transferring the money from the prepaid card to my bank account.

My overall experience with Vision Premier prepaid card has been a great one. I don’t have to pay outrageous monthly fees or “secret” fees. My money is always safely transferred from PayPal, to the Vision Premier card, and to my bank. I’ve never been charged to load money on my card and the company makes me feel secure as a customer. They get a high approval rating from me and I would definitely recommend Vision Premier prepaid card to anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable putting their personal bank information on PayPal or just want a prepaid card in general.

Until next time,

If you are wondering what facecard is, let me tell you that it is the answer for parents to teach th

If you are wondering what facecard is, let me tell you that it is the answer for parents to teach their college going children financial responsibility. Facecard is like an ‘allowance’ in which parents or friends can deposit money that a student can use anywhere mastercard is accepted. It is a prepaid card introduced by MetaBank in 2008. The idea behind introducing this card is to establish an alternative to a credit or debit card especially for students.

Parents can load cash to the student facecard account using their mobile phone or computers. They have the authority to monitor where the student is spending the money, which gives them a greater control. Also, if the child shows irresponsible spending behavior, the parents can have a chance to teach their child how to utilize credit in a better way. Moreover, the card has discounts known as prewards for saving on purchases. Prewards work something like this – students receive preward offers in their account, which they can accept or reject at their free will. Suppose the offer suggests a 3$ discount on sandwich. If the sandwich costs $6, only $3 will be deducted when the student uses the card.

Last month, Facecard, in association with Facebook, launched an application, which links both of them. This application, also known as facecard, can be downloaded directly. It promotes money transfers on facecard through facebook. You can transfer money in three ways, either by sending ‘money messages’ or transferring money to the another Facebook user’s wishlist or by gifting it using the ‘thinking of you’ option.

Facecard charges $5 for signing up and $3 as a monthly account maintenance fees. The monthly maintenance fees can be waived off on two occasions – if you load paycheck through direct deposit or spend minimum $100 a month using the facecard. The prewards and other features make facecard a better utility than the free checking account. The facecard seems to have a good future and remarkable uniqueness among other cards.

It’s that time of year when eerie incidences begin to occur in the Hotel and this year is no different than the ones before…

If you’ve been hanging around the Hotel for a while, you’ll remember last year when the Hotel was infested by an inexplicable green goo and haunted by a little girl who died 100 years ago… And the year before that we were taken over by monsters, andwerewolves and vampires… Oh my!

So far this year, it looks like the Catalog is dying to celebrate Habboweens of old and your favorite furni has mysteriously materialized… on its own! It was supposed to be added this evening but when I went to check, it was already there! Scientific phenomenon or has the Catalog taken on a mind of its own?!?

And that’s not the only thing, Habbos! Glimpses of walking dolls, whispered conversations in empty rooms, flashes of bright lights across the sky… all have been reported just in the last few days!

What next? What is in store for the Hotel and all its inhabitants?!? I don’t rightly know, Habbos, but keep an eye out and remember: safety in numbers!

What to do When You Can Not Get a Bank Account?

Have you ever had a credit problem?
Bounced too many checks?
Or maybe just got so far behind on bills that you had to declare bankruptcy?

Many banks won’t give you a bank account if this has happened. There are ways around not having a bank account though. If you can not get an account due to credit issues do not worry. You can still get a debit card. There are many stores that will give you a stored debit card even if you don’t have a bank account.

Having a debit card, not only lets you buy things at stores but now you can go online and purchase items. Just remember to add money to your debit card. No you don’t need a bank account for this.

Getting paid in cash (Using any Post Office Branch) or having money orders sent directly to you helps if you don’t have a bank account. Having your checks sent directly to a debit card will help you in having your money in one location. Debit cards have become international so if you were planning on going on a trip overseas this would be the card for you.

No more carrying around a wad of cash in your pockets or worrying about a bank account. A debit card is also cheaper than cashing a check.

24-hour kang maghintay!!! 24 forever!!!

So that’s it! Pero after a week or two, ganon ulet ang nangyari parang hindi naman talaga na deactivate so I decided to buy a Globe sim card.

Pero may time na nagpaload ako ng P10.00 na good for 24hrs (1 day). So, okay, I waited for 24 hours, walang load ang naibalik sa akin. Then tumawag ulet ako, aba paghihintayin ulet ako ng 24 hours?

Don’t fall prey! If someone who claims to be your friend asks for prepaid card or cellphone load, be wary! He/she could not be your friend he/she is projecting to be.

My friend’s YM was hacked several months ago and I didn’t receive her warning about the fake one who’s asking prepaid load from the people in her YM list. The fake one chats with whoever is online and pretends very well that she is the real one. The fake one knows that the real one is abroad and has a wide circle of friends in the Philippines that includes me.

The fake one chatted with a common friend who’s based in Singapore, but was on vacation leave in the Philippines, to ask a favor. The fake one requested our common friend to send her 50 pieces of Globe prepaid card worth PhP500.00. Fortunately, our common friend was in a tight budget due to his wedding preparation. But unfortunately, our common friend referred me to the fake one thinking that she was the real one.

Our common friend texted me and gave me the fake one’s roaming number. I was in the middle of a trip but I texted that number since our common friend said that it was urgent and important. The fake one replied and asked for 50 pieces of Globe prepaid cards worth Php500.00 and she would pay me through my bank account the next day. I didn’t read the text message clear enough and thinking that it was only one piece, me and my companion rushed to the Globe prepaid card outlet to buy one. Just when the salesgirl was about to hand me over the card, I re-read the fake one’s message and realized that she was asking for 50 and not a piece of prepaid card. I only had PhP3,000 in my wallet at that time and the additional PhP23,000 was impossible to produce for the following reasons:

1. it was holiday in the Philippines on December 26 and the banks were close

2. I was on a tight financial budget to be able to give her that amount of Globe loads

But since she was a dear friend, a friend from wayback primary school and also my mother’s friend, I asked her if I could give her 20 pieces of Globe load instead. She said that it was fine but I had to speed up since her customers in her area were asking for Globe load. Like a friend’s intuition, I wondered when she started having an eye for business? She was never the type who would push a friend to give her favors, too. I wondered why she didn’t greet me “Merry Christmas” just the way she always did in the past. I decided to call Globe Customer Service hotline to check whether the number is roaming or not. It was not registered to be a roaming number but the number was unreachable when I tried to make a call.

It was a Friday when that incident happened and I promised the fake one that she’ll receive the Globe cards on Monday. What made her believable was she knew the real one’s YM ID and even asked me to have a chat with her. But her ignorance of the real one’s MSN ID was a give-away that she was not really the real one. At this time, me and my companion were playing games with the devil.

Sunday afternoon, I tried to contact the real one’s mother’s contact number but her mother replied the following day. She was surprised to know that the fake one is still actively pursuing for preys and she was glad that I didn’t fall into the fake one’s trap.

That same afternoon, I received a sort of follow up text from the fake one to verify if the cards can be delivered to her on Monday. I affirmed and asked her how her lovelife with ASG is going. ASG was recently married to our common friend and I expected her to react. But instead, the fake one said that I received the news about her and ASG very fast!

The following day, after a series of follow up text messages from the fake one, I told her that I only got 15 pieces of prepaid card and I was on the way to their house. This time, she said that I should not bother going to her house since she’s abroad. I acted surprised and told her that I could still go so that I could visit her mother. She said that since it was urgent, I should send her the cards’ PIN before going to their house. I replied naughtily,”You expect me to send all those 15 PIN’s? It would be easier for me to just give the cards to your mother and have her send the PIN’s to you.” She asked for my bank account number and I told her that she could send it thru Western Union.

After three hours, the fake one asked me if I could send the PIN thru text message. I told her that I gave the cards to her surprised mother. The fake one did not text anymore up to this day. She must have realized that I knew she was a fake.

My realizations:

That we should not open malicious links that could give the hackers our important passwords.

That we should be careful when using public computer terminal and remember to log out everytime we’re done.

That it is alright to delay a favor if it means saving ourself from the hassles and pains of being duped.

That we should trust our intuitions:if something seems not right, it probably is really not right.

As I’ve already mentioned, I was excited to read about Ryanair’s prepaid card. 4 free flights! As I’m looking at getting my family to Sicily for my upcoming wedding, that looked like a great idea.

Dad’s last visit was a while ago, and this time he’s hoping to get himself a motorbike and tour around.

Unfortunately it’s not nearly the offer it’s made out to be, but one has to dig into the terms and conditions to see that, because apart from an asterisk on the offer, there’s no information actually on the website giving you the limits.

Which are these;

A one-way flight every three months, or a return flight every six months. You personally have to be the passenger. So no free flight for my mum.

You can’t fly on Fridays or Sundays! So no WEEKEND breaks for you!

The flights you want might not be ‘available’ (to you, anyway).

You’ll have to wait at least 1 month before applying for any free flights at all.

You’ll have to book at least 14 days in advance.

You’ll have to call up a special phone line at €0.33 a minute.

You’ll have to book using the Ryanair Prepaid Card (and thus incur a fee of 75 cents, or 2.75% if you’re booking a flight from the UK)

You won’t be able to book in any blackout periods (as determined by M-Cube themselves mind you, and there’s no list published on the website saying what those periods are, so they can make ‘em up as they go along!)

If you get stuffed with this and go to court, you’ll be going to court in England!

So it’s normal Ryanair then. Like the lady who won ‘unlimited flights for life‘ which weren’t unlimited. After pleading that the case had no valid basis because Ryanair had in fact broken the Lotteries law (and you can’t sue someone for taking away an illegal benefit!), they had to fork out €67,500, plus and estimated €200,000 in costs.

Or the “free flight vouchers” that cost more to redeem than the flight did.

So no free flights for me. Or indeed, no Ryanair pre-paid card.

ryanair, prepaid card, free flights, scam, terms and conditions

The Account Now Visa is a prepaid debit card. You deposit money and then use your card to make purchases, pay bills or withdraw cash.

100% guaranteed approval, no matter what is in your credit history. You are guaranteed to be approved even if you are in chex systems, have a bankruptcy or no credit.

This card works like a checking account. You can use your card to make purchases and you can also write physical checks from your account.

There is a free service to all account now card holders called bill pay. This service gives card holders the ability to have a real paper check sent to a business or individual. To do this you simply go online and fill out the name, address and amount of payment and then a real check will be mailed to that business or individual.

This is a great method to pay your bills. The first seven checks of every month are free and then it is $1.00 per check after that. You card can also be used to make purchases or pay bills over the phone and online.

Bill Pay works hand and hand with credit builder. When you make a payment using bill pay then credit builder will make a notation of that payment with a credit reporting service. This is a method for you to build positive payment history and a way to prove credit worthiness to future lenders.

Money can be deposited on your card through direct deposit. You fill out a short form and turn that into your employer and then your checks are automatically deposited on your card. If you choose this option when you sign up you will receive free activation.

You can also place money on your account by making a deposit through money gram and western union. A deposit using western union is free if the amount is over $300, with money gram you will be charged $3 and some change per deposit.

Another way to deposit money is through a green dot money pack. You must visit a green dot retailer (wal-mart, walgreens, kroger, cvs) and purchase a green dot money pack. Then you call 1-800-GreenDot and enter your accountnow card number and your card will be reloaded with those funds.

You also can visit a ready link store. These are found in safeways, 7-Elevens to name a few locations. Then you tell the cashier you wish to load money on to your account now visa. The cashier will swipe your visa and take your money and you card has been reloaded with money.

You will receive monthly online account statements and if you choose you can have a paper statement sent to your home also. The Account Now Visa has zero liability. This means if you card is stolen or used to make unauthorized purchases you will not be held liable.

In sum, we suggest the account now visa over any other prepaid credit card available. This card carries many benefits that are free that other prepaid cards charge for. You get free activation, free bill pay, and free credit builder.

To learn more about the account now visa or to read a review of the all access visa another prepaid credit card that gets our recommendation visit us.

Although it’s not an everyday occurrence for most people, many of us have had the need to send money

Although it’s not an everyday occurrence for most people, many of us have had the need to send money overseas as quickly as possible at one time or another. Maybe a friend or family member lost their credit or debit card and needs access to cash.

Perhaps a son or a daughter studying abroad was not as careful as they should have been about maintaining a healthy account balance. Whatever the case, it’s much easier to send money fast to faraway places than it used to be.

Technology has not only provided more efficient ways to send money, it’s also provided a more competitive landscape for money transfer services, making sending money more affordable for the customer than ever before.

The Internet is the element that makes money transfers much easier than ever before. Regardless of where you are in the world, you can access numerous methods that will allow you to send money 24 hours a day to hundreds of countries around the globe.

Accessing bank accounts is easy, and if you’re trying to transfer funds to a customer within the same financial institution, it can usually be done almost instantly even at little to no cost. Sending money to a bank other than your own usually takes about 24 hours and may have a slightly higher fee, but it still easy to do if you have all of the required information.

Making the transfer is easy if moving money between banks, and will be effective as long as the recipient has access to the funds once the transfer has been made. An ATM or debit card is the easiest way to access the funds 24 hours a day.

Banks often impose daily limits that restrict the amount that can be accessed via an ATM machine each day, but it’s generally a high enough amount that the recipient will have enough cash to meet their needs. ATM fees are usually minimal but should be considered if an exact amount needs to be received.

If the recipient is in a country where they have no banking relationships, the best way to send money is either through a wire transfer or by sending a prepaid debit card. Wire transfers can be costly, but they are generally an effective option.

An even better option, however, is to send a prepaid debit card that is received within a couple of days and can be used over and over again. This is just as easy to set up as a wire transfer and it will make future money transfers possible with just a few clicks of the mouse. This is a secure way to send money, as the only person who receives the PIN number is the person sending the money.

There are limits to the amounts that can be sent through these online services, but the costs are generally low and they are easy to use, even for someone that hasn’t sent money anywhere before. Thanks to technology, sending money is easier and faster today than ever before.

“No.
