However, over the last year, revenues from the wholesale business have been slipping, while store sales remain flat. This is due in part to having little to no market recognition which can be remedied with the proper implementation of marketing and public relations.</p>
<p>Public relations (PR) involve a variety of programs designed to promote or protect a company’s image or its individual products. Many companies today use marketing public relations (MPR) to support the marketing department in corporate or product promotion and image making. MPR can affect public awareness at a fraction of the cost of advertising and is often much more credible. The main tools of PR are publications, events, news, speeches, public service activities, social media, and identity media.</p>
<p>The following will introduce examples of effective PR and MPR for the Fortune 500 Company, The Coca Cola Company. One can not only find The Coca Cola Company on their corporate website espousing their sustainability efforts and product innovations they are also within the social communities of facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube as well as their blog at http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/. Although the following two press releases, PlantBottle and Visual Identity, are taken from the corporate website, they are also accessible through the aforementioned social communities, which reach further than the press.</p>
<p>The Coca Cola Company, in keeping with their sustainability statement has launched a new sustainable packaging of PET plastic bottles, PlantBottle, made in part from plants and is 100% recyclable. They are touting the PlantBottle as the “bottle of the future.” The company is clear in their message and desire to create and offer a 100% PlantBottle for the future.</p>
<p>The launch of the PlantBottle “is precisely the kind of innovation that demonstrates how businesses can help address climate change and reduce stress on our precious natural resources” (<a href="http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/presscenter/presskit_plantbottle.html" target="_blank">PlantBottle</a>). The PlantBottle production process reduces The Coca Cola Company’s dependence on petroleum-based materials, which are not renewable sources.</p>
<p>In an unrelated press release, The Coca Cola Company has unveiled their first ever “uniform packaging design for core juice beverages as part of their comprehensive, strategic effort to expand its global leadership position in the juice category” (<a href="http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/presscenter/nr_20091117_global_juice_center.html" target="_blank">Visual Identity</a>).</p>
<p>The uniform packaging design will enrich brand preference, expand shelf visibility, drive cost effectiveness and establish product consistency across the world with their portfolio of juice brands and products. The redesigned packaging builds on Minute Maids identity by adding new photos and images to give the effect of a produce isle when shelved side by side.</p>
<p>The company coherently stresses that “by uniting the juice brand portfolio under one scalable framework, new packaging can be introduced quickly and efficiently, ensuring a consistent global design that builds brand value while minimizing operating costs and increasing productivity for local businesses worldwide” (<a href="http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/presscenter/nr_20091117_global_juice_center.html" target="_blank">Visual Identity</a>).</p>
<p>What does this mean for GGI? By focusing marketing and public relations on the end user, GGI can also become a household name. To accomplish this goal, GGI should create packaging that has a consistent design to build brand awareness. Ensure that the packaging is recyclable and so noted. Using the tools of PR GGI should make themselves known as well as what they can do for their end user in each niche market.</p>
<p>In conclusion, GGI can again enjoy success as they had in the past by creating brand awareness, by implementing sustainability initiatives focusing on climate change, and targeting the end user in marketing campaigns. The Coca Cola Company, as well-known as they are, continues to develop brand awareness, implements sustainability initiatives, and targets their end users.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> While most people were home enjoying turkey, football and a cozy fireplace with family, Frank Makaravage was camped out in front of the Best Buy grilling hot dogs, sipping on hot cocoa and counting down the hours until he could get his hands on a $400 HP laptop for half the price and a camcorder on sale for less than $200.</p>
<p>Makaravage is a Black Friday veteran, though he said this is the first time he has ever been first in line and the first time he came to shop looking like he was on a camping trip.</p>
<p>The man and his nephew, Pat Belusko, arrived at the Arena Hub Plaza at 3:15 p.m. Thanksgiving afternoon. They came prepared with a two man dome tent, hand warmers and nourishment. He staked out a piece of the sidewalk just to the right of the front door.</p>
<p>He said he was determined to get the laptop and camcorder, even if it meant braving 14 hours of wind, rain and hot dogs. He came prepared to sell hot dogs, hot chocolate and hand warmers to others in line but he was so happy he was first in line and guaranteed both items on his wish list that he decided to share his bounty for free. “I was in a good mood,” he said. “I even threw in mustard and ketchup.”</p>
<p>Sarah Ross, said she used to laugh at the people camping out or waiting in line for hours to save a few bucks, but this year she became one of them.</p>
<p>“It’s not as boring as I thought it was,” said Ross while she blew on her hands to keep warm while waiting in line at the Best Buy. “I’d rather be home in bed, but my friends wanted to make a day of it. Shopping, a movie, some lunch. So I gave in.” &#8220;I&#8217;m not here to buy anything, I’m just here for moral support and to help carry some stuff.” And in return she gets to select the movie they’ll watch later on during the day. “Its between the ‘Twilight’ and &#8216;The Men Who Stare at Goats’.</p>
<p>For Sara Swaditch and her mother, Susan Bellomo, Black Friday is all about tradition and camaraderie. They have the routine down to an art. “We made our Dunkin’ Donuts stop. Coffee, doughnuts then Kohl’s,” said Swaditch. Then the two head to Toys R Us and JC Penney. Bellomo drives in from Flemington , N.J., to spend the holiday weekend with her daughter, and they look forward to the deals and the mother daughter bonding.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Two giant pandas from China were welcomed to Australia with gifts of bamboo and a city party before settling into their new home, a twenty five acre natural enclosure at the Adelaide Zoo. </p>
<p>Four year old male Wang Wang and 3 year-old female Fu Ni are on loan to the zoo for 10 years as part of a joint research program, and their arrival comes amid slightly strained relations between China and Australia.</p>
<p>The pandas were given a police escort to the zoo, which built a $7.25 million enclosure that includes bamboo plants and refrigerated rocks to keep them comfortable in Adelaide&#8217;s hot summers. Two Chinese handlers traveled with the pandas and will stay in Adelaide for a few months to help with their adjustment.</p>
<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re in the quarantine area and they are looking very happy and relaxed,&#8221; zoo spokeswoman Emily Rice said as they animals settled into their new quarters, stretching their legs and munching on fruit. </p>
<p>The pandas will be in quarantine at the zoo for 30 days, but will be visible to the public behind glass when their exhibit opens on December 14th. </p>
<p>Twelve life size panda figures lined the runway at the Adelaide airport, where the animals&#8217; flight was met by state Premier Mike Rann and other state and zoo officials holding a &#8220;Welcome&#8221; sign and branches of bamboo. </p>
<p>An 18 vehicle convoy of floats then left the airport for downtown Adelaide, where a parade through the streets was followed by a public party lasting all afternoon. </p>
<p>The two pandas had been living at the Bifengxia Giant Panda Breeding Center in Ya&#8217;an City in southwestern Sichuan province, after the Wolong Giant Panda Research Center where they were living was destroyed in a massive earthquake last year. </p>
<p>Only about 1,600 of the animals live in the wild, while another 120 are in Chinese breeding facilities and zoos.</p>
<p>China uses payments from zoos that host loaned pandas to fund research and breeding programs. Under such loan agreements, any panda cubs born overseas to lent animals remain China&#8217;s property. </p>
<p>The pandas are expected to generate more than $600 million for the South Australia state economy during their time here, with an anticipated 262,000 overseas visitors and 1.3 million Australians visiting Adelaide to see the animals. </p>
<p>China often sends gifts of its unofficial national mascot to foreign nations as a sign of friendship. Chinese President Hu Jintao offered the pandas as a goodwill gesture during a 2007 visit to Australia.</p>

<p>(White Plains, NY) ~ Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman William J. Ryan (D, WFP-White Plains) led a delegation of legislators to New York City to meet with the federally-appointed monitor overseeing the implementation process of the fair housing settlement agreement, approved by the county in September, on Wednesday.  Chairman Ryan, along with Majority Whip Judy Myers (D-Larchmont), Legislators Lyndon Williams (D,WFP-Mount Vernon), John Nonna (D-Mount Pleasant) and Peter Harckham (D-Katonah) met with Mr. Johnson for more than an hour and discussed initial elements and progress being made on the proposed implementation plan, as well as meeting the affordable housing needs throughout the county.   “The meeting with the monitor today was part of the ongoing process to develop the implementation plan required by the housing settlement by the end of January,” said Chairman Ryan. “During this transition period, moving from one Administration to the next, the Board will ensure the continuity needed within the process.”</p>
<p>The settlement was in response to a lawsuit brought against Westchester County by the Anti-Discrimination Center (ADC), accusing the county of making false statements on federal applications about its efforts to integrate housing.  The approved settlement requires Westchester to spend $50 million over seven years to build 750 fair and affordable housing units, in areas that are overwhelmingly white and affluent.  The agreement, also, calls for a federally-appointed monitor, James Johnson, to assist the county in creating a housing implementation plan to meet these goals.  &#8220;It was an extremely positive exchange with Mr. Johnson where we had a frank discussion on implementation issues &#8211; especially the need for local workforce housing to get buy in from municipalities,” said Legislator Harckham.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is of utmost importance that we keep the ball rolling during the transition from one county executive to another, as we face significant challenges in meeting the approved timetable,” said Legislator Myers. Given the dynamic of a new Administration and with the Legislature’s best efforts being utilized to pass a county budget on time, the county received an extension finalizing an implementation plan from December 8th to January 30th, which was approved.  &#8220;I was pleased to meet with a committee of the Board of Legislators and am encouraged by their continued commitment to this process,” said Johnson.  Johnson, a partner at the New York City law firm of Debevoise &#38; Plimpton, served as Undersecretary of the Treasury during the Clinton Administration and was most recently appointed by New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine to head a commission to investigate charges of racial profiling by the New Jersey State Police.  “Upon approving the settlement, the county had a small window to craft an implementation plan.  However, we felt that we needed additional time, given our budget timeline, to create a plan that would meet these goals set before us,” said Legislator Williams.  “I’m glad that we’ve been able to meet with the monitor and continue the dialogue surrounding this implementation plan.”</p>

<p>Organisers of RACMSA Rally of Scotland believe they have a lot to be proud about after the country hosted its first Intercontinental Rally Challenge event earlier this month.</p>
<p>The gravel rally, which enjoyed live television coverage on Eurosport, brought the curtain down on the IRC season and received glowing praise from competitors.</p>
<p>Iain Campbell, the clerk of the course, said: &#8220;It&#8217;s been a team that has put this all together and I&#8217;m proud of the whole team. It&#8217;s been a steep learning curve but all stages started on time despite the difficult weather conditions. Also, the battle for the lead was nip and tuck to the finish and that made it very exciting.&#8221;</p>
<p>Rally of Scotland will return to the IRC calendar in 2010 when it forms the 11th and penultimate round of the series from October 14-16. Before then, Campbell plans to have introduced several improvements.</p>
<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re looking mainly for sunshine but we will be making some tweaks to the format,&#8221; he said. </p>
<p><strong>WILKS DECLARED SCOTTISH WINNER</strong></p>
<p>Skoda UK driver Guy Wilks has been declared the winner of the Rally of Scotland after a stewards&#8217; hearing found that the front subframe of Kris Meeke&#8217;s Peugeot 207 S2000 was 150 grams lighter than it should have been. There was however no intention to break the rules on Peugeot&#8217;s part, as Meeke&#8217;s car was actually heavier than the Skoda when it was weighed prior to the rally start.</p>
<p>Peugeot Sport director Olivier Quesnel stated: &#8220;We acknowledge the stewards&#8217; decision. We&#8217;re responsible for what happened, but not guilty of anything. This was down to an administrative mistake, which we intend to rectify. The mistake had no influence on the performance of the 207 Super 2000 and we must apologise to Kris Meeke, whose talent and championship title this year are beyond question.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>INDYCAR STAR FRANCHITTI SAVOURS RIDE WITH IRC CHAMPION</strong></p>
<p>Kris Meeke interrupted his preparations for RACMSA Rally of Scotland by giving his friend, the IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti, a high-speed ride in his Peugeot 207 Super 2000.</p>
<p>Meeke, who clinched the Intercontinental Rally Challenge drivers&#8217; crown earlier this season, was testing for the IRC season finale at a site close to where Franchitti owns a house.</p>
<p>&#8220;I know Dario from my days when Colin McRae was helping me,&#8221; said Meeke. &#8220;I got chatting to him recently and found out the test was two miles from his home so I invited him along and he had two runs in the car later in the day. It was dark and the stage we were using in the forest was slippery but I think he enjoyed the experience.&#8221;</p>
<p>Franchitti&#8217;s younger brother Marino was among a 3,500-strong crowd for the event&#8217;s opening superspecial stages at Scone Palace near Perth, where Meeke set the fastest time on both runs.</p>
<p><strong>PROTON TEAM PLANS TWO-CAR IRC ASSAULT</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://formularali.wordpress.com/files/2009/03/proton-satria-neo-s2000.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-529" title="proton-satria-neo-s2000" src="http://formularali.wordpress.com/files/2009/03/proton-satria-neo-s2000.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="196" /></a>The British-based works Proton squad is set to field a two-car team in next year&#8217;s Intercontinental Rally Challenge.</p>
<p>With backing from the Malaysian car giant, the team made its IRC debut on the Belgium Ypres Rally last June. Although it expanded to running two cars on Barum Czech Rally Zlin in August, it concentrated on fielding a single entry on all other events it has contested.</p>
<p>&#8220;Next year is going to be a busy year for us with two cars in the IRC,&#8221; said team principal Chris Mellors.</p>
<p>Alister McRae, who scored Proton&#8217;s first IRC podium on Rally of Scotland, is likely to continue with the team in 2010 although several other drivers are also under consideration.</p>
<p>&#8220;We hope Alister will be involved with the programme next year but there are a lot of drivers we&#8217;re talking to,&#8221; said Mellors. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to be testing the car in December with some very interesting people. We&#8217;re very excited.&#8221; </p>
<p><strong>KOITLA AIMS FOR MORE IRC OUTINGS IN 2010</strong></p>
<p>Kaspar Koitla celebrated finishing third in the final IRC 2WD Cup standings by revealing plans to contest more rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge next season.</p>
<p>The Estonian driver took his Honda Civic Type-R to the 2WD category laurels in sixth overall on RACMSA Rally of Scotland earlier this month. He now wants to return to the series in 2010.</p>
<p>&#8220;I came to Scotland to try to finish third in the IRC 2WD Cup and I achieved my objective by winning,&#8221; said Koitla. &#8220;It was my first time in the UK so I am very pleased because it was a difficult rally. It is all down to finding the sponsorship but I would like to do some more rallies in the IRC next year and come back to Scotland.&#8221;</p>
<p>Koitla, 20, won the 2WD Cup on Rally Russia in July. He finished third behind Denis Millet and Manuel Villa in the final standings.</p>
<p><strong>COUNTDOWN TO MONTE CARLO: MINUS 53 DAYS</strong></p>

<p>With less than two months to go before the start of the Monte Carlo Rally, the opening round of the IRC next year, preparations are well underway.</p>
<p>With entries open since November 16, the first competitors are already adding their names to the entry list. The recce for the event will take place from Saturday 16 January to Monday 18 January, allowing teams to concentrate the whole rally within a week. The rally&#8217;s ceremonial start will take place at 17:00 on Tuesday 19 January, at the Champs de Mars in Valence.</p>

Chettri emphasized to strengthen the GJM in Delhi as to make voice of Gorkhaland  to be heard in Parliament.He further appealed all the Gorkhas and Gorkhaland supporter to join 21st December Dharna in New Delhi.</p>

<p>PHILADELPHIA…November 25, 2009… Today, during the Philadelphia Convention &#38; Visitors Bureau (PCVB) Annual Luncheon at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Mayor Michael A. Nutter unveiled the City of Philadelphia’s new brand – “Life Liberty And You” before the largest gathering of Philadelphia’s hospitality industry. For the 1,000 hospitality industry leaders and press it was an opportunity to celebrate the core values Philadelphia was built on, successes of the past year, and future developments underway, particularly expansion of the Pennsylvania Convention Center opening in March 2011.</p>
<p>“Our new signature brand ‘Life, Liberty And You’ builds on the core values of the City and a timeless brand promise, rediscovered in the roots of Philadelphia’s City seal and the internationally known City icon – the Liberty Bell,” said Mayor Nutter. “We ask everyone who lives, works or visits Philadelphia to be our brand ambassadors and help establish Philadelphia as a customer-friendly place where anything is possible.”</p>
<p>The new signature brand was developed as a result of research done of best practices in other cities and at the State level. This led to an assessment of the City’s many communications vehicles, and ultimately a need to establish a unified voice for all Philadelphia departments and projects. The Office of the City Representative, working with the 65-person pro-bono Philadelphia Executive Marketing Council, undertook this extensive project that has been developed over the last 12 months. The Philadelphia-based Star Group donated their creative services, and the PCVB donated services to finalize a style guide that clearly outlines how the new brand will be implemented both internally and externally. The signature brand, designed to transcend administrations, will roll out organically through partnerships and existing communications vehicles, so as not to cost the City any unnecessary dollars to implement. In fact, the entire project was completed at no cost to the City.</p>
<p>In addition, the PCVB Annual Luncheon featured remarks by Governor Edward G. Rendell, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PCVB Chairman Nicholas DeBenedictis reviewed highlights of 2009 and announced the 2010 PCVB Executive Committee, and PCVB President Tom Muldoon talked about what to expect in the coming year.</p>
<p>“The continued support and partnership of the Philadelphia community this year has put Philadelphia ahead of the curve nationally,” said DeBenedictis. “This has definitely been a challenging year across the world. However, by working together in a strategic fashion, Philadelphia is showing it can come out on top as we saw recently with high attendance at major conventions here and continued international growth in 2009.”</p>
<p>Among the highlights of 2009:<br />
Expecting to end the year with a 68 percent hotel occupancy rate. While four percent lower than 2008, Philadelphia is bucking national trends. Conventions, meetings, international and domestic tourism, and events, such as Welcome America! and the Philadelphia Marathon, all contributed to this success.<br />
Philadelphia is ending the year on a high note with conventions. The American College of Rheumatology, Infectious Disease Society of America, and the American Public Health Association each met or exceeded attendance numbers.<br />
The Army/Navy Game presented by USAA and the Modern Language Association convention, each to be held in Philadelphia in December, will close the year out. This year, the City also secured the winning bid to bring back the Army/Navy Game in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017.<br />
Through August, Philadelphia showed the second-highest growing number of international arrivals at the airport; 8% growth year-to-date, only Orlando is higher.</p>
<p>Looking ahead to 2010, highlights include:<br />
The Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC) will continue to reach new heights with its current expansion project; the only major convention center expansion project in the nation. When completed in March 2011, the Convention Center will grow by 60 percent, allowing for new major tradeshows or two conventions to be held simultaneously. A second entrance will result in the development of North Broad Street and the Convention Center District, featuring the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) and a new Cherry Street Plaza connection to Museum Row on the Parkway.<br />
The PCVB, in collaboration with the PCCA, is unveiling a new marketing campaign for Philadelphia’s convention market in December. “Philadelphia: The Complete Package” was created by meeting planners for meeting planners. It is every meeting planner’s dream – the best meeting destination, with the best service, all wrapped up in one package.<br />
Philadelphia is one of 27 U.S. cities vying to bring the FIFA World Cup back to the United States in 2018 or 2022. Everyone in the Philadelphia region is encouraged to sign a petition to support Philadelphia’s bid at www.GOUSABID.com/city, then select Philadelphia.<br />
The American Bus Association (ABA), which is having its annual convention in Philadelphia in 2011, announced the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress’ Global Fusion Festival was selected as one of ABA’s 2010 Top 100 Events for Groups.</p>

<p>30,000 Statoil employees and stakeholders at over 120 locations across the world came together in &#8216;town hall&#8217;-style meetings to celebrate the new brand, through a broadcast experience that brought the global Statoil community together.</p>
<p>Through satellite, video conferencing and a webcast, all Statoil employees saw their colleagues from locations around the world welcome them to their offices and installations. Starting in Singapore, the flyaround travelled to Karsto, a gas processing plant; on to Calgary, Stavanger, Rio, Moscow, Houston, Lagos, to Statfjord C, an oil platform located 150 kilometres off the coast of Norway. The virtual visit ended at the BBC studios in London.</p>
<p>In London, Statoil&#8217;s CEO, Helge Lund, revealed the company&#8217;s new vision and mission. His 20-minute presentation used cutting-edge augmented reality for visual support, showcasing Statoil&#8217;s drive to be pioneers in everything they do. Jack Morton engaged Total Immersion to create the augmented reality application from Statoil&#8217;s models and drawings, with every detail true to life.</p>
<p>The broadcast ended with a short Q&#38;A session, during which Mr. Lund answered questions from around the Statoil world, using the satellite and the video conferencing infrastructure.</p>

<p>The steps for a press release are number 1:  Have something to sell.  It you are trying to advertise an event or a product then a press release may not be what you should do.</p>
<p>Number 2:  Be succinct.  Don&#8217;t write War and Peace in a press release.  No one will read it.</p>
<p>Number 3:  Check you copy a number of times.  If possible. Leave your copy in a drawer a couple of days and come back to it with free eyes.  Read the copy aloud to help you find errors.</p>
<p>Number 4:  Pick snail mail and email address as well and phone numbers and company name you will use before hand.  Do you want a lot unsolicited stuff appearing your private mail box or people you don&#8217;t know calling you on the phone?  If not,set up communication apparatus pertaining the business before hand.   One of the possible advantages of this is when some spammer sells you information you may be able to narrow down who did the dirty deed.</p>
<p>Number5:  Be careful how you fill out the form.  Unless you are sure you are going to get some bang for the buck, stick with the free option.  Don&#8217;t pay for anything.</p>
<p>Number 6:  Often the free option will not allow you to do things like include images or  working hyperlinks in the press release.  Oh well.</p>
<p>Number 7:  Submit and obey.  Well at least submit your free press release.  Once you get a notification from the press releaser that your content is published, use the hyperlink to the press release to help advertise your wares.</p>

<p>Victoria-raised filmmaker Atom Egoyan issued a statement today condemning the BC Liberals’ cuts to arts funding. Egoyan joins a list of prominent British Columbians and Canadians that includes William Gibson, Douglas Coupland and Margaret Atwood. In his statement he said:</p>
<h4>“I owe so much to the development of my early career to support I received from the BC Cultural Fund, which provided me with a much needed scholarship. It is truly devastating to think that a new generation of BC artists can&#8217;t rely on their provincial government for this crucial encouragement and vision.&#8221;</h4>
<p>Egoyan grew up in Victoria, BC, and now lives and works in Toronto. He is the director of many feature films including <em>The Sweet Hereafter</em> and <em>Ararat</em>. He is also an artist and a trained musician, and has often worked in an interdisciplinary way, collaborating with musicians and composers and producing art installations for the MoMA in New York, Artangel in London and the Venice Biennale. He wrote the 1998 opera <em>Elsewhereless</em> and directed the Canadian Opera Company&#8217;s <em>Salome</em> in 1997 in Vancouver.</p>

<p>La Quadrature calls on citizens to help drafting a list of questions to be asked to Commissioners designate. Submitted questions should address various topics related to citizens rights and freedoms on the Internet, such as:</p>
