Good evening everyone!  Two day and counting.  Christmas is almost here.  I really like these last few days before the big day……I’ve finished the to-do list, for the most part, and can sit back with my family and enjoy.  I was just sitting on the couch chatting with my mom and gazing upon the tree and all the pretty lights and decorations.  It doesn’t get any better than this.

With all the activity this last week, I haven’t been doing much scrapping, but I do have a few more photos of some of my decorations to share tonight.

I call this area my “gold ensemble”.  All my gold colored pieces ended up going here, including my gorgeous new gold tree I received for a present.  I am so excited about that tree.  I’m already thinking it will be a perfect “fall” tree for next year.  I don’t have many ornaments for it yet.  Perfect excuse to do some more shopping. Mom did bring me her collection of clear glass ornaments she had collected over the years which look pretty on the new tree.  I also have my wooden creche figures from when my kiddos were babies on the plate rack by my easy chair.  I got in the habit of putting them down low so that the kids could easily reach and play with them, and the tradition has just stuck with me.  Funny how little things like that happen without you even realizing it.

And although I haven’t been doing much in the way of scrapping, I do have one quick card to share.

Old Paper Salon papers, which I still love to pieces, Webster’s trims, and Prima crystals.  Added a little machine stitching and a rub-on greeting from Pebbles, Inc.

These fun little frames made the perfect Christmas accent on my mantel.  I hung the letters on clear cording and they appear to be floting.  It is hard to see the glitter on the letters.  They are a very pretty ruby red from Clearsnap.  The paper collection is from SEI, flowers from Prima.   The picture frame is from Eileen Hulls new collection with Sizzix.  Check out the other projects too.

So all day today I keep saying that it’s Monday.  I would swear that it’s only Monday.  It can’t be anything but Monday.  It can’t.

I think I must be in denial that Christmas is now only 3 days away.

At least I’m pretty much ready for it to come. I spent today doing my holiday baking, which is an annual tradition for me.  Baking is not one of my strong points, I must admit.  I can hear some of my friends snickering right now.  However, the key to my holiday baking is to keep everything super simple.  I have a couple of “go to” treats that I tend to make every year, and this year, I paired those favorites with a few new ones from my good friend.  Kathy and I spent the day immersed in flour, sugar, butter and chocolate, made only a minimal mess, and didn’t even set the kitchen on fire.

We made Kathy’s delicious Snicker cookies and Peppermint bark, and my chocolate dipped pretzels and peanut brittle.  I know Kathy will be sharing her recipes on her blog, so be sure to check it out.  Here is my recipe for peanut brittle.

Into a 1 1/2 quart microwave safe bowl, mix 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of white corn syrup.  Stir and microwave on high for 4 minutes, stirring half way through.
Add 1 cup of roasted, salted peanuts.  Microwave on high 3-5 minutes until light brown in color.  Stir.
Add 1 Tbls. butter and 1 tsp. vanilla.  Stir.  Microwave 1-2 minutes.
Add 1 tsp. baking soda and stir.  Brittle will get light and foamy.
Moving quickly, pour onto lightly greased or non-stick cookie sheet.  Let cool.  Break into pieces.

er, I mean Tuesday!

I read this awesome story of 3 cars… created by a man’s vision and passion, which now still lives on and is remembered by the 240Z community. It all began in 1972, way before I was born…

Long before I was a Primadonna Z, I was just a 240Z. My name was ZBAIT. A name the dreamer gave me because nobody could catch me on the rolling hills above Redwood City, California where I lived.

I was adopted in September of 1972 and it didn’t take long for him to start messing with me. At first, he said I needed just a little tweaking. However, in the early 70’s he used to take me to LagunaSeca and Sears Point Raceways to show me what I could be. He started me off with little bubble flares, an air dam and a rear spoiler. Strictly, off the shelf stuff. At first, I liked it but then at the next year’s races I saw these new flares on the Walt Maas Far Performance 240Z. We realized I would be hotter with this setup so the bubbles were popped off and I had a new look.

We were happy for a couple more years when I noticed a change in him. He started showing a lot of interest in this thing called the 935. He told me how he fell in love with a German Boxer.
I felt so inadequate. Then one day he stripped me down and said it could take a couple of years to rebuild me but when he was done, it would take 20 years for me to be fully appreciated.

He was only 25 working on me outside of his apartment. He didn’t have a shop or a garage, just an aluminum box he built that he slipped me in. I fit like a glove and my box fit perfectly in his parking stall. He didn’t have fancy tools, not even a workbench, just worked off the curb. It was here where I was truly born. My designer and a young neighbor friend would sit for hours talking about how to make me the ultimate Z.

Then one day he rolled me out of the metal box and fit me with the most exotic tires and wheels imaginable. I had an extended windshield, a huge whaletail and wing just like those 935’s.

It was at this time he met his real love Yolanda and together they took me everywhere. I created quite a stir whenever I’d stop. Other makes were always trying to get a closer look on the road and their owners would wave, smile and try to make me go faster. I was a gunslinger.

We were well known in the Z Owners of Northern California and were very active leading many other Z’s on tours from Oregon to Death Valley, California. Then things started to change.

It was 1983 now. That’s when I saw my little sister for the first time. She had different hips, they were square. I was white and she was yellow. She was named Primadonna Z and her metal plates said Prima Z. Up until now, it was fun for everybody then we learned our owner was to sell clones of us to anyone that wanted to be ahead of his time.

Little did we know another dreamer was looking for us. Never seeing a picture only hearing about the “Great White Z”. Then one day someone told this dreamer where he had seen the myth. He ran home, fired up his own creation and together they found us. Michael was his name and his car was a flat rusty red. Rusty must have been very upset because there was a deep roar coming from under his hood. Something called a V8 was lurking under there with a lot of other stuff I had never seen before. We became friends. Rusty would eventually look just like me, white, only with a lot more attitude. Jettlag was on his nameplate. By now, our bodies were very precise. Within a year, my yellow sister got a face-lift and became a real black beauty.

In about 1985 the last change I received appeared. A new precise set of clothes, a stretched windshield, a whaletale without the wing and a flashy Mars Red paint job made me the sexiest Primadonna yet! That’s when my owner, designer and builder had to part with me and pass me on to another.

A decision he would be saddened by. A year later, my black sister was adopted by Alan, a wonderful owner. So good, he still loves the black Prima Z after nearly 20 years. She’s in great hands!

Michael kept Jettlag for another 14 years but in 2000, after 20 years, realized he could no longer give Jettlag the attention needed, he reluctantly parted with him. He also has felt the loss. Someone named Hoover took Jettlag never really loving or understanding what he had. With the help of the internet, Jettlag was sent off to a place called Tennessee to another Mike. Only this Mike cared less than Hoover. Jettlag had an uncertain future falling in disrepair with not much hope facing a slow death parked in the grass.

Then a small miracle happened. Roger appeared. Not really knowing why, other than he had to rescue Jettlag. Jettlag was brought to Florida and is now being nurtured back to life. He’s in great hands with an owner who commands attention to detail and understands what he has.

You say just a car! With Roger almost accidentally finding Jettlag, it led to him just as accidentally meeting the original dreamer and telling his story of how he found Jettlag. All of which brought two old friends back together again after many years. Jack and Michael after all have a lot in common and a lot of pictures and memories to share. Both realizing what they had and what they had lost.

Epilogue

The Primadonna Z was never intended to be a business, just a personal custom car and only from the evolution of creating it and using it, was the inevitable thought of duplication. With today’s acceptance of radical concepts there’s almost limitless possibilities. The Primadonna Z fits in with today’s concepts but 25 years ago, no one knew what Bling was!

The last generation molds and jigs from the original design were sold to a friend in the early 90’s. Space being at a premium at home and our lives going in another direction, I thought they were in good hands. MilesGarcia saw the early stages of development to the last paint job. He wanted to keep the Primadonna alive.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have “THE RIGHT STUFF” and after trying to re-sell the molds to the new owners, he inexplicably,
without fully comprehending the consequences cut up, destroyed and dumped every piece.

After nearly 9 years of designing, building and perfecting, the final ½ “ thick molds that were built to last and to perhaps make many parts, were history. Fortunately, not all art is treated this way. The only way the Primadonna can endure is if the current owners are smart enough to pull new molds or drive very carefully. Quite expensive but it’s the only insurance.

I have just recently talked to Alan and he has done many
Modifications to the black Prima Z car. Most to the engine and chassis. The body is pretty much unchanged.

Roger has completely stripped his down for a complete rebuild with a lot of attention to detail including new paint. Again, the body is intact.

The red car (formerly known as ZBAIT) has disappeared. I’ll only say that Vince cannot be located. The vin numbered was last registered in 1997 and the plates ZBAIT not in use and no record of it being salvaged. It may be just sitting under a cover in someone’s garage or yard and they don’t know what it is or what to do with it.

Not everyone has the passion of Roger Berry or Alan Pong. It’s my dream again to be reunited and own ZBAIT once more.

The story of how Michael Ouellette’s car (Jettlag) left Hoover Chan (2nd owner) then eventually ending up clear across the country must be told by RogerBerry. Roger and Alan will be the key to the Primadonna survival, and I only hope who ever owns them in the future will keep them intact and their history alive and well.

Life has been hectic, to say the least. We moved back to Sweden 2 weeks ago, and left our Italian adventure behind us. We’ve had some amazing experiences there and I will miss so many things. Still, I’m glad to be home.

The creative side of my life has definitely taken a backseat in this turbulent time, but I have something to share that I managed to find time to make over a month ago. It was my son’s birthday and here’s what he got from me.

This is an ad for the videogame Assassin’s Creed II from a men’s magazine.

I actually really like this ad.  It’s visually striking and tells you a fair amount about the videogame without having to use space for descriptive text.  The man in the elaborate renaissance costume tells us that the game is sent during that period and he looks Italian or Spanish, so we can infer that the game likely takes place in one of those places (it is in Italy).  He’s clearly a noble, so obviously you get to assassinate high ranking people, which should be exciting (it’s always harder to kill people with guards) and the blood on the glove suggests you’ve recently stabbed someone else, suggesting the fight is filled with stabbings.

This ad is simple and striking, but it works well for the game.  The man seems surprised, suggesting you sneaked up on him, and scared (which makes sense, given the daggers very near his neck).  I think this is a great ad.  It’s surprisingly subtle for a big title like this and does a great job of giving lots of information without lots of quotes, descriptions or screenshots.  What do you think?

Saya yakin kalian sudah tahu apa itu bilangan prima, bilangan asli yang hanya mempunyai 2 faktor yaitu 1 dan bilangan itu sendiri. Lawan dari bilangan prima adalah bilangan komposite yaitu bilangan asli yang mempunyai faktor selain 1 dan bilangan itu sendiri. Teorema Fundamental Aritmatika (TFA) menjelaskan bagiamana hubungan kedua jenis bilangan tersebut. TFA menyatakan

Setiap bilangan komposite merupakan hasil perkalian bilangan-bilangan prima dengan cara yang unik

Contoh: 12=2×2×4, 85=17×5, 1000=2×2×2×5×5×5

Apa yang dimaksud “cara yang unik”?

Dari contoh diatas 1000 mempunyai faktor prima 2 dan 5 yang dimaksud dengan “cara yang unik” tidak ada bilang prima lain selain 2 dan 5 yang menjadi faktor dari 1000. Jika kita mempunyai bilangan komposite lalu kita memfaktorkannya apapun cara memfaktorkannya kita akan selalu mendapatkan bilangan-bilangan prima yang sama. Setiap bilangan komposite tidak mungkin mempunyai 2 buah himpunan faktor prima yang berbeda, itulah yang dimaksud “cara yang unik” dalam FTA.

Dengan FTA kita bisa memandang bilangan prima sebgai atom yang menyusun bilangan komposite. Kita bisa bisa memandang bilangan komposite sebagai molekul dengan bilangan prima sebgai atomnya. Dalam ilmu kimia, setiap molekul memepunyai atom-atom penyusun yang unik, tidak ada 2 buah molekul berbeda yang mempunyai atom-atom yang sama. Hal yang serupa juga berlaku dalam bilangan komposite menurut FTA semua bilangn komposite mempunyai faktorisasi prima yang unik, tidak ada 2 bilangan komposite berbeda yang mempunyai faktorisasi yang sama. Itulah  kenapa teorema ini dikatakan Fundamental.

FTA juga merupakan alesan yang bagus kenapa 1 bukan bilangan prima. Andaikan 1 merupakan bilangan prima maka setiap bilangan kompsite mempunyai faktor prima yang tak hingga banyaknya.

Selanjutnya kita akan membuktikan FTA. Andaikan saja ada bilangan komposite terkecil yang tidak mempunyai faktorisasi prima, sebut saja n dan n merupakan hasil perkalian dari bilangan asli a dan b dengan 1<a,b<n

Karena n merupakan bilangan komposite terkecil yang tidak mempunyai faktorisai prima maka a dan b mempunyai faktorisasi prima. Nah itu berakibat n akan mempunyai faktorisasi prima. Kontradiksi. Itu berarti mustahil ada bilangan komposite yang tidak mempuyai faktorisasi prima, mustahil ada bilangan komposite yang bukan hasil dari perkalian bilangan-bilangan prima.

pezzy and i had a successful first day on our own – we spent a good bit of it running errands.  i am SO happy to say i found a coat to replace my stranded at the airport one!  i also ran to Michaels as a favor for an MB member and found what she was looking for and then a stop at target where pezzy made me buy BOY pull ups because they have pics of lightening mcqueen (a race car) and the girl ones have princesses and princesses are dumb………as for bedtime i decided she is just going to sleep with me while daddy is gone.

now onto my fun SCACD project:

it’s marti back with another fun challenge from Suzanne, our fearless SCACD (susana’s custom art & cards.) she asked us to make a card with a fancy/unusual fold. the timing was perfect as i had JUST done a couple in the SU tech club i go to each month. i thought it was really neat and i knew it would work wonderfully with the Boho Chic image from Elisabeth Bell exclusively for Susana – SCACD:

i colored this cute chica with copics and used spicas for some added pizzazz on the detailing of her shirt, jewelry and barrette.

Multe dintre voi ati dori sa stiti precis cand trebuie sa va vina prima menstruatie (menarha) si daca exista semne care sa o anunte. Cum e si normal, nu vreti sa fiti luate prin surprindere de aparitia sangerarii pentru ca riscati sa va treziti cu hainele patate tocmai la scoala sau undeva in public si sa ajungeti in situatii jenante.

Majoritatea fetelor se intreaba despre acest lucru de pe la varsta de 10 – 11 ani dar multe mai au de asteptat inca vreo 2 – 3 ani. E destul de neplacut sa stai atata timp in stresul ca poate prima menstruatie te ia pe nepregatite.

Cand vine prima menstruatie?

Oricat de bine ne-am simti daca am sti cu siguranta, tot ce avem la dispozitie sunt niste date aproximative. Dupa ce au inceput sanii sa creasca, trec in medie 2 ani pana la aparitia primei menstruatii.

Asta inseamna ca la unele fete trece un an sau mai putin, la altele 2, 3 ani ori chiar 4. Nu e o regula desi fetele la care le vine dupa 2 ani sunt mai multe decat celelalte. La modul aproximativ aceasta informatie poate fi totusi un reper.

Exista semne care sa anunte prima menstruatie?

Din pacate nu exista semne clare, specifice care sa ne anunte ca marele eveniment e pe cale sa se produca. Prima menstruatie este o surpriza pentru toate fetele. Sunt totusi cateva manifestari pe care trebuie sa le consideram nespecifice (nu sunt tipice) pentru ca nu apar la toate fetele si, la acestea, nu sunt neaparat asemanatoare.

La unele fete, cu 5 – 10 zile inainta primei menstruatii, apar simptome de tipul celor din sindromul premenstrual.

Sindromul premenstrual este constituit dintr-o serie de manifestari organice si psihice care apar periodic (lunar) sau sporadic (cateodata) inainte de menstruatie. E vorba de stari psihice si fizice neplacute uneori chiar grave. Cele mai frecvente stari sunt acelea de neliniste, anxietate, senzatia ca ai pierdut controlul sau ca nu-ti iese nimic bine, iritabilitate, nevoia inexplicabila de a plange, depresia, confuzia.

Simptomele fizice sunt balonarea, aparitia unui val de cosuri, tensiunea dureroasa in sani cu cresterea lor in volum, dureri de cap, oboseala, palpitatii. La unele fete corpul retine apa, astfel constata ca au crescut in greutate, ca Ii se umfla picioarele si au senzatia ca s-au ingrasat.

De ce semnele sindromului premenstrual sunt nesigure pentru prima menstruatie?

Pentru ca sunt fete care nu prezinta astfel de semne iar, chiar si pentru acestea manifestarile sunt restranse, partiale, nu putem spune ca exista un model usor de identificat. De cele mai multe ori aceste simptome pot aparea in alte situatii cu alte semnificatii.

Cu alte cuvinte aceste semne nu-ti zic cu siguranta ca va incepe sangerarea dar pot da alarme false repetate. Iata de ce:

La unele fete simptomele reunite sub denumirea de sindromul premenstrual se manifesta toate la un loc (rar) dar la cele mai multe apar izolate sau in grupuri mici. De exemplu pe unele fete le doare capul si au o stare de agitatie psihica, altele mananca foarte mult, aproape obsesiv si sunt deprimate, altele acumuleaza apa in corp si sunt balonate, etc.

Aceste simptome apar in tot felul de combinatii si de regula fata nu intelege de ce se simte rau si e atat de prost dispusa. De-abia dupa mai multe cicluri invata sa faca legatura intre aceste stari si faptul ca urmeaza sa-i vina menstruatia.

In plus, manifestarile acestea pot sa apara in afara ciclului. Stari de agitatie sau deprimare poti avea ca rezultat al relatiilor sociale, cu parintii sau datorita stresului de la scoala. Balonari si dureri abdominale pot sa apara avand cauza digestiva. Sanii dor si cresc la majoritatea fetelor datorita pubertatii. Durerile de cap pot fi date de oboseala si asa mai departe. Din acest motiv e destul de greu sa-ti identifici aceste stari ca prevestind prima menstruatie.

Deci aceste semne nu sunt nici obligatorii, nici specifice, cu alte cuvinte nu pot fi luate in seama.

Fii pregatita pentru prima menstruatie

Daca ziua in care vine prima menstruatie te ingrijoreaza din motiv ca te temi sa nu-ti patezi hainele si sa fii pusa intr-o situatie jenanta, poti purta absorbante zilnice (protege slip). Acestea sunt proiectate sa colecteze secretia vaginala, cea care apare odata cu pubertatea si care nu e tocmai placuta deoarece pateaza chilotul si-l mentine umed. Iti sunt de folos oricum.

Avantajul folosirii acestor absorbante este acela ca, atunci cand vine menstruatia, primele picaturi de sange vor ramane in ele si nu vor pata hainele. Aceste absorbante sunt subtiri si nu fac fata la fluxul de sange care e mult mai mare decat volumul secretiei vaginale, dar sunt excelente pana ajungi la baie sa-ti aplici un absorbant special.

Ce mai poti face este sa ai mereu cu tine un absorbant din cele proiectate pentru sangele menstrual. Nu astepta sa-ti vina menstruatia ca sa-l cumperi. Cumpara-l acum! Il pui intr-un necessaire mic sau in ce fel de ambalaj doresti ca sa fie separat de celelalte obiecte din geanta si sa se mentina curat. Cand vine timpul inlocuiesti absorbantul zilnic cu acesta. Astfel esti ferita de accidente.

I have a fierce, almost intolerable streak of predatorial competitiveness when it comes to other women. Even if I like them and enjoy their friendship, there are moments where I am fiercely repulsed by any display of dominance they exhibit towards me. Especially if I don’t feel that they are in any way my equal; or if I dislike them in any way. It’s a primal sensation; I won’t even say it’s a feeling because it seems far more deeply rooted than that. And often when I feel this way (and yesterday was once such day), I feel very constrained as though my skin is too tight, and being around other people is almost intolerable. It’s hard to tell the people you care about and are friendly with at any other time that they need to go, or that you need to go, and be alone for a bit. I’ve learned tight restraint, and fortunately for myself, and everyone around, I’ve learned to walk through these days displaying only mild indifference towards the sources of contention. In these moment, I can be sadistic, and very unsympathetic. My best friend from high school once described me as a mean cold bitch when I’m in these fluxes. She is among the few women that I can tolerate during these emotional peaks, and she also carries these tendencies. We learned to tolerate each other.

Thinking on it today, I realized that my contempt comes from false pride and bravado I see in women everywhere around me; from the dojo to the work place. I laugh at the men who do it, because I have come to expect it from the males in Canada. Heck, everywhere. The contempt is there, but it’s far lighter and perhaps it is because we are not the same sex and it is easier to place the blame on the difference in sex (though I get irritated with males too).

Women for the most part carry themselves on a cloud. They often expect the world to bend over backwards to ensure their comfort and stability, allowing them to do the least amount of work for the same if not better results. Everyone else must sacrifice. Especially here in Canada, women more often than not lack the means to act or call themselves independent, and they subvert the meaning of “diva” to a meaning akin to “Whiny self-righteous bitch”. They twist things that are otherwise good, into dark manipulation. And for a woman who has worked to put herself past these cowardly motions; to see them occur as though they are common place, and see others (especially men) enable this behavior, thoroughly disgusts me.

And please don’t get it twisted. I don’t expect strength at all times, I don’t want strength at all times. But the eagerness and willingness to be weak and subvert others to your will in order so that you can be comfortable while they do your grunt work? This is cowardly and manipulative. This kind of behavior, along with others akin to it, and the enabling that occurs that encourages it are what bothers me. And most days I’m fine, let them do what they want to, live and let live. Some days, I get more emotional, and posts like these happen.

So if you’re reading this, pay no mind. Chances are, unless you know me very well, you won’t see this coming from me unless you put it in my face. I realize it is very immature and impractical to allow the happenings of other people influence how I feel. I work to overcome it, which is one of the reasons why I’m writing this post.

I am working to remove or lessen weakness in myself. Mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Everyday I pick a flaw and work on it. Today, it’s this.

Nissim e compagni si sono infatti sottoposti nella giornata di mercoledì ad un sofisticato screening di medicina funzionale, costoso paese che, all’eccellenza sportiva del proprio paese, è stato offerto gratuitamente dal dottor Michele Caperna, docente alla SIMF di Milano, la Scuola Italiana di Medicina Funzionale.

‘E’ un tipo di esame che permette di evidenziare un ampio spettro di disturbi e pre-disturbi funzionali che una persona può presentare, da quelli ormonali a quelli di articolazione’, spiega Caperna.

L’esame medico dura otto minuti e si svolge attraverso degli elettrodi che vengono applicati sulla superficie corporea e i risultati sono utili non soltanto dal punto di vista della funzionalità sportiva ma anche della salvaguardia della salute del giocatore.
