This week is the final week on campus. The people left are: Alan, Rudy, Liz, Danny, and annoying Amanda. Suzie Orman is here to visit…to talk about wealth and health. $147 billion dollars a year are spent on obesity related diseases. Everyone is having a one and one session with Suzie. Suzie is really playing into this- We go to the gym and there are 5 treadmills, they must answer the questions on the treadmill and will win $1000 every time they answer a question right. Have I mentioned I love Allison Sweeney? She is amazing.  How much do Americans spend on gastric bypass a year…..$4.4 billion!!!!!!! Alan takes home $4,000 which makes me happy- because he is the best.

Alan and Danny talk to Jillian about how ‘worried’ they are to go home. The product plugs on this show, are just silly…Amanda is worried and complaining about her being the ‘only one’ left. Saying Alan, Rudy, Liz, Danny won’t vote each other off….I will be very surprised if Liz ends up in the final four. Amanda is crying listening to Bob talk about it being the ‘last week’ I can’t stand her. Why is Bob crying over Amanda?  Why does Bob feel bad for her? Brown team is the last team standing which is great.

The challenge…. everyone is at a football field they are all wearing jerseys with the amount of weight they have lost on the ranch this far. They are required to carry the amount of weight they have lost each week.  Winner of this challenge goes to the Pro BOwl!  Plus, if you win the NFL will donate $5,000 of athletic equipment to a school of the winner’s choice. Alan wins the challenge!
 

To the weigh-in: Danny loses 16 pounds, Rudy loses 12 pounds, Alan loses 8 pounds, Liz loses 5 pounds..and  the most annoying…..Lets not forget her! Amanda she loses 7 pounds. So my beloved Alan, and stupid Liz are below the yellow line. “Liz and Alan’s fate is in my hands”- Amanda

Guess who Amanda votes home- Allan.  All in all, I’m really disappointed with this show.

ABS-CBN will re-run my favorite Koreanovela of all time, Boys Over Flowers as a gift to its fans for Christmas. No timeslot announcements have been made until now but it will be a part of the Primetime Bida, I’m just hoping that it will shown anytime from 8:30PM onwards, so that I may be able to watch it, but I think the likelihood is remote, so I guess BOF will retain it’s timeslot the first time it was shown. But I’m still hoping that my dear, Jun Pyo’s schedule will match mine

Gli ospiti del programma della De Filippi erano Francesco Totti e Claudio Baglioni. Di quello di Giusti era ospite soltanto Emanuele Filiberto Di Savoia.

Su RaiDue è andata l’ultima puntata della sesta stagione di Cold Case che ha raccolto un ascolto di 2 milioni e 778 mila telespettatori con uno share dell’11.48%

Il programma di divulgazione scientifica Ulisse – il piacere della scoperta, in onda su RaiTre ha raccolto 2 milioni e 57 mila telespettatori con uno share del 9.31%

Il film 58 minuti per morire in onda su Rete4 ha guadagnato 1 milione e 514 mila telespettatori con uno share del 7.02%

Il ciclo Film Family su Italia 1 raccoglie 2 milioni e 242 mila telespettatori con uno share del 9.61%

Endlich 18, die KuH wird volljährig! Nachdem Körber und Hammes die Technik besiegt und ihr Reich vorm Mikrofon wieder einnehmen konnten, steht Episode 18 ganz im Zeichen einer bestimmten Person: Thomas G. Hornauer. Dem ein oder anderen KuH-Hörer sicherlich schon längst ein Begriff, weiß der schwäbische Fernsehmacher immer wieder von sich Reden zu machen und wurde vor allem durch seinen Sender Kanal Telemedial bekannt.

Doch woher kommt der Mann eigentlich und welche Idee verfolgt er mit seinem inzwischen ausschließlich im Internet zu empfangenden Sender? Die KuH versucht mit der „Horni-Story” Licht ins Dunkel zu bringen.

Doch so gerne Körber und Hammes über Herrn Hornauer und seine telemediale Idee auch philosophieren, so gilt es auch einige liegengebliebene und brandaktuelle Themen rund um Film, Funk und Fernsehen abzuarbeiten. Da wäre zum einen der Start des neuen Senders Fem TV. Die ProSiebenSat.1-Gruppe hat nämlich jetzt (mal wieder) die Frau als potenzielle Zielgruppe für sich entdeckt. Zudem gibt es diese Woche einige Tops und Flop: Von der „Berliner Nacht-Taxe” über „Frauenzimmer” bis hin zu „Pastewka” und „Stromberg”.

Okay folks.  I am determined to catch up with this season.  I have consistently been a week behind, and it’s just not cool anymore.  It’s time to “¡Andale! ¡Andale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Yii-hah!”

So here’s the skinny on week nine:

In the first minutes of the episode, Ali revealed that there was going to be 2 contestants going home in week nine.  For the first time in Biggest Loser history, there was going to be a red line.  This was essentially the line of doom:  Do not pass go, do not collect $250,000.  The player who fell below this line would automatically be hitting the road, Jack.  In addition to the red line, there was (as always) a yellow line, and (as always) the two people who fell below it were up for elimination.  It was then up to the remainder of the contestants to decide who to send home, as per usual.   

Challenge Numero Uno 

Allen Smith, 34, of Columbus, IN, is pictured here in the beginning of Season 8 at 325 lbs. He weighs in now at 238 lbs.

This one was for a 1 pound advantage at the weigh in- which is, more or less, like winning the Biggest Loser lotto.  The group had to jump up to reach a total of 50 tennis balls that were velcro-ed to a wall, then run the balls over to a bucket and drop them in.  The first to get all of their tennis balls into the bucket was Allen Smith.

Challenge Numero Dos

Big Rudy (Rudy Pauls), a 31 year old NY native, began the season at 442 lbs. As of week 9, he weighed 324 lbs- a significant 9 week weight loss.

This one was a real circus.  No, really.  It was in a Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey circus tent.  And the contestants- again, I’m being serious- had to jump through hoops to try to knock their opponents out of the challenge.  Each time a player jumped through anothers’ hoop, that player received a point.  And in this game, much like golf, points were no bueno; once a player was tacked with 100 points, they were ushered out like a bad wedding guest.  And oh yeah, did I mention the prize?  Immunity.  Cha-Ching!  Big Rudy (Rudy Pauls, 31) won the challenge and won immunity for himself. 

Weigh In

Daniel Wright (20), the one player in Biggest Loser history to get a literal ’second chance’ on the show, fell below the red line this week.  He graciously thanked the show for what it has done for him: He has lost, since the beginning of last season, a total of 198 pounds (in a year)!  WHHHAAAAAT!?!?  This is ca-raise-e.

The two below the yellow line:  Shay Sorrells (29) and Amanda Arlauskas (19).  To everyone’s shock and shagrin (including my own), the players voted Shay off, sending her home to fight this battle on her own.  As she says, she left with “her integrity, [I]set a record, and [I]made a lot of progress, and [I'm]walking out with all of that.”

Both Daniel and Shay appeared on the Jay Leno show immediately following week nine’s premiere. 

Ancora una volta, e anche con l’ultima puntata, Il falco e la colomba, la fiction in costume di Canale 5, è stata battuta dalla fiction italiana di RaiUno, Un medico in famiglia 6. Infatti il primo raccoglie appena 3.739.000 telespettatori e il 14.87%, mentre il secondo ottiene 7.838.000 telespettatori e il 28.30% nel primo episodio e 7.353.000 e il 30.22% nel secondo.

Tra le reti cadette primeggia Italia 1 con i 3.345.000 telespettatori e il 14.54% di share ottenuto da Le Iene Show, grazie allo scherzo ai danni di Fabrizio Corona.

He's baaaaaaack

Well, last Thanksgiving Nate’s dad went to jail, and Dan’s dad is obviously alive and kicking and married to Lily.  So who does that leave?  Well, two other gentlemen be returnin’ and they are going to turn the town upside down.

First off, hold onto your pants: Bart Bass is alive.  I read that he may have been forced to fake his death for some reason (helloooooo, mobsters, obviously!)  What will this mean for Lily?  Can she still be legally married to Rufus if she was never widowed?  And I know she’s wealthy from her own family, but she now owns half of Bass Industries, right???  I am super stoked to see where this one goes.  He’ll be back in a December episode in time for Christmas.

We’re obviously leading up to the return of Serena and Eric’s father.  I also read that Serena will be getting into a very bad car accident, so will he come back to be a donor?  Or on his own terms?  I’m still confused in seeing the return address of “Dr. Van der Woodsen” since I wasn’t aware he was a doctor…. and I am truly antsy trying to figure out who the hell is playing the part.  All I know is that I hope it’s someone from one of Josh Schwartz’s other shows (i.e. Gossip Girl or Chuck).

I am happy to see that there will again be a Thanksgiving episode, but it doesn’t air until the Monday after Turkey Day.  And since I specifically read that Bart is back in December in time for the holidays, that will make for an exciting Christmas ep as well!

La decisión de hacerlo sobre la CBS y no de la página web de FOX España principalmente ha sido la actualidad,es decir,la FOX va por la cuarta temporada y la serie ya va por la quinta temporada.

Después de analizar esta página web me he dado cuenta de la importancia que tienen las series para una cadena de televisión.Arrastran con ellas un fenómeno fan que reporta bastantes beneficios a las cadenas.Un ejemplo de esto lo puedes encontrar cuando accedes a la tienda online en la que venden todo tipo de cosas,como camisetas,vasos,tazas…  Las páginas webs de las cadenas de televisión se han convertido en una herramienta imprescindible para los consumidores (de Internet) y espectadores (de la televisión) ya que ahora,si te has perdido un programa o una serie lo puedes encontrar en su página web de forma casi inmediata despúes de su emisión en televisión.

Análisis de productos informativos

Se podría hacer un análisis de la página de la CBS y otro del espacio dedicado a Cómo conocí a vuestra madre,pero una vez que entras en el espacio de la serie o programa deseado no pierdes los contenidos de la página general,ya que la información aparece debajo de las pestañas de la general.A pesar de tener prácticamente los mismos contenidos yo he decidido hacerlo de las dos.

Esta es la información que proporciona cada espacio:

• Desde “How I Met Your Mother” : home, video(vídeos), community (comunidad), photos (fotos), recaps (resúmenes de los capítulos con fotos de cada capítulo), cast (reparto), about (resumen de la serie en general) y desktop app (aplicaciones para el escritorio del ordenador)

• Desde CBS (general): shows (la programación de la cadena), videos, HD videos (vídeos en alta definición), wacht & chat (ver video y comentarlos con otras personas) y schedule (programación de la cadena).

Los contenidos que ofrecen la página web la CBS son bastante variados y amplios, ya que en la página general tienes todo lo relacionado con la cadena (su programación, noticias, vídeos,etc) y una vez que accedes a un programa o una serie determinada,como es este caso en “How i met your mother”, los contenidos que ofrecen son más amplios y especializados,donde puedes encontrar fotos,noticias,capítulos enteros, fragmentos de vídeos,aplicaciones para tu ordenador,etc). Además taqmbién ofrece contenidos de carácter general como comida (página web de recetas), noticias, información sobre famosos…

En cuanto a la organización de estos contenidos se puede decir que está bastante bien organizado, todo está muy claro y no da pie a la confusión o equivocación.

Al ser una página web oficial de una cadena de televisión la actualización es constante.

Análisis de servicios y documentación complementaria

La CBS en su página web ofrece otros servicios como prensa, FAQ’S, sitemap,buscador,todos los videos tienen bookmarks,descarga de contenidos, recomendación,envío de contenidos,posibilidad de compartir contenidos,emisiones en diferido,noticias, videoteca, widgets para aplicar a una gran cantidad de aplicaciones para compartir (como facebook,twitter,blogger,netvibes y otras muchas más),posibilidad de visitar otros sitios interactivos de CBS,marcadores para google,posibilidad de unirte al facebook de la serie o el programa que quieras (como un fan),índice del sitio,ayuda (rss en las respuestas de la ayuda),búsqueda de trabajo.

También ofrece otras cosas como tv( página web con todos los programas y series de la televisión estadounidense en la que se pude encontrar  vídeos, foro, fotos…), celebrity (noticias de famosos), food, games, news, sports, mobile, shop además de un buscador para encontrar de forma más rápida y fácil aquello que estés buscando.

Análisis de contenidos publicitarios

En este aspecto poco se puede quejar uno de la publicidad de la página,ya que es escasa por no decir nula. Sólo he encontrado un anuncio a la derecha de la información. En la página de cómo conocí a vuestra madre no hay publicidad,sólo publicidad de la propia serie como por ejemplo,para activar en el móvil un servicio de alerta relacionado con la serie.

En la página principal ocurre lo mismo que en el espacio de la serie, hay publicidad de las series y programas de la cadena.

Análisis de la participación

En cuanto a la participación del usuario la CBS ofrece varias herramientas como comentarios en cada vídeo, un foro, hacerte fan de la serie en facebook, meterse en su twitter, los guionistas han creado “El blog de Barney” (uno de los personajes principales),encuestas en el foro con posibilidad de suscribirse a sus RSS…

También da la posibilidad de agregar a la cadena como amigo en Facebook y así poder comentar.Esta es una opción muy acertada y han sabido adaptarse a las posibilidades que ofrece Internet,además de ser una forma de acercarse a los jóvenes,que son los principales usuarios de las redes sociales.

Week 9….

Everyone is talking about their A game…..
Danny, Alan, Shay, Amanda, Rudy, Dan, Rebecca and Liz… Two players will be eliminated this week. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss…below the red line and that is automatic elimination. 3 people will fall below the ‘line’.

Pop Challenge: jumping up towards a wall with tennis balls, carrying the balls to your bucket. Amanda and Liz have to sit out…There has been a lot of people this season who have to sit out because of an injury. This is an intense challenge. Prize for pop challenge= 1 pound advantage at the weigh-in. Alan and Rebecca so close…Alan wins. I like Alan.  Alison is awesome. She is just such a good host. Amanda and Rebecca…walking around. Younger vs. Older. Danny and Liz walking around….they are both discussing the young vs. old. Amanda- ‘all i care about is my self, and my group of friends’ I basically hate this girl. She is so annoying!!! This is about people changing their lives, and becoming healthier. Although, the money- the game, the greed it gets to people. Maybe we are pre-disposed to this……Tracy is home that is time to CELEBRATE!

When they go and explain to Jillian and Bob…they are SHOCKED. There has NEVER been a red line in Biggest Loser History. Jillian fights for Shay. Jillian is worried for Shay…she is really concerned. Jillian is talking about Bob playing ‘God’. I wonder if they love each other secretly. They agree, some secret…they both agree Bob leaves the conversation with ‘I’ve got it’ ….got what? you guys are going to work harder for Shay? Bob is upset because 3 people will go below the line, and 2 people will go home. From 8 to 6. Shay is working SO HARD. Jillian just rides her. Jillian says it’s a matter of life and death…pushes Shay so hard. She is the one for the job. Jillian is YELLING at her saying she will go home- Bob and Jillian fight. They fight so HARD for everyone, and they know the tricks of working out and dieting.  Jillian is just so harsh sometimes but you know what maybe that is what some of these people need to break this addiction to food, and their feelings-

Rebecca cries saying that everyday is hard for her, is this girl depressed? stupid amanda…with her pep talk. Danny is now talking to Bob about losing his drive, all emotional talks this week. This week for the challenge they are jumping through hoops…The person who gets the 100 jumps’ (other people jumping in their hoops) is out. The person left wins immunity. They are just jumping in each others’ hoops. Liz needs immunity…393 pounds Shay…she is taking a serious body beating. Daniel and Amanda, Liz are out…Alan is now out. Danny Rudy, working against Rebecca. Rebecca is out…only person left is Shay. Shay is talking shit to Rudy. Wow. Shay is calling him out. Telling him he has no integrity. Shay is just talking shit to everyone calling them all out. Now Rudy is telling Shay she has no character. They are fighting….Shay is out. This is every intense….Danny is dying- guess who ends up with immunity….Rudy.

Oh my god, they are working out extra hours ….sneaking in bikes, and weight balls….into Shays room! They are basically cheating…but maybe not considering that the Biggest Loser ‘crew’ isnt stopping them. When the old sleep, the young WORKOUT!

Shay is the first to weigh in! she loses 17 pounds!!!!! She has lost 100 pounds on the show! This is amazing. She is the quickest woman to lose 100 pounds. Amanda the most annoying serious is left. Her legs are STILL huge. She loses 5 pounds pounds…I hope she falls below. Rebecca is up, she loses 10 pounds. Danny is next he loses 17 pounds!!! He is pumped. Bob said he knew that he was going to see great numbers….because of the red line and that is pushing people. Alan needs to of lost more than 10 pounds….he loses 10 pounds exactly. Liz loses 12 pounds! She is the oldest person on the ranch. Liz is leading the weighin…Shay is below the yellow line, and she loses 17 pounds and is still below the yellow line. So, two young people are under the yellow line..Daniel is left. He loses 5 pounds. He is below the red line, and has to leave the campus right away, everyone is crying and upset….The music is just so depressing, it causes emotion. He says goodbye to Jillian and Bob….and leaves…2 people to choose from Shay or Amanda. They better send Amanda HOME. Amanda hugs Bob, and Jillian and Shay hug….THE DRAMA!

Send home Amanda!!!!!! She is worthless. Get rid of her. No one is going to vote Shay off, if you do your just a bad person. Of course Amanda is crying and making everyone feel bad for her…but you have only lost 50 pounds and you have been there for 9 weeks! Come on. You haven’t fought, this girl has lost 50 pounds in 9 weeks……its not enough weight….not at this level. Where people are losing 100 pounds in 9 weeks, twice of what Amanda has lost. Rebecca, and Alan both vote for SHAY! This is horrible. Liz votes Amanda. This is up to Rudy. ….who is Rudy going to pick? Him and Shay got in a fight at the challenge…He votes for Shay. I’m shocked. This is horrible. Amanda the LOSER gets to stay. Orange team is gone.  Next week is makeover week. I am ready for this season to be over. Its annoying.

All of the events of last night’s Brothers & Sisters led to the inevitable Samantha Jones moment.  Kitty’s hair was falling out, so she bit the bullet and shaved it.  And she looks very Sinead, right?  Except they did a piss-poor job making her “stubble” look anything near the hair color she had before she shaved it.  The upside: the dress she wore to Nora’s event was rocking.  I want it in several colors.  I just need to find it first, then rob a bank to pay for it.

Nora met a man, and he’s an oncologist, which seems like a great fit for her considering where she’s at in life right now.  And he’s super cute, too.  Although Nora’s neuroses have really started to get under my skin now that we’re on the 4th season.

A possible pregnancy for Rebecca???  Maybe I’m the only one who thinks this, but I suspect that wedding will never happen.  Maybe Rebecca will get an abortion without telling Justin, then he’ll find out later and it will cause them to split up.  I know that’s not a happy thought, but I’m just throwing some ideas around.  Feel free to share yours. 

Otherwise, Scotty found out his dad’s a cheater, too, but he got a very pricey comic book gifted to him to help out with 1) the guilt factor his Dad obviously feels and 2) the cost of the impending Scotty-Kev baby!  Thank God we got rid of Roxy for hopefully the rest of the season.  She needs to stick to delivering bitchy lines on The City while looking menacing with her overly arched brows and overly scarlet lips.

I’ve never been a big fan of Susan.  The big doe eyes and grasshopper-like legs don’t really do it for me.  So, here’s where things are on Wisteria Lane: after Angie filled Susan’s ear with doubt on what Katherine’s alibi was for the night of Julie’s strangling, Susan went to the cops.  They didn’t take her seriously, but a female detective from Susan’s high school days sort of did.  Well, enough to hear Susan out and then go befriend Katherine because of their mutual dislike.

As usual, Gaby stole the show with the homeschooling issues.  Just when you thought she just didn’t have the patience to do it, she goes and admits that it is ruining her relationship with Juanita and cries on Carlos’ tie — but mostly she cried about the fact that he wouldn’t let her keep the housekeeper.  Next week, she tries desperately to get Juanita into Catholic school.  Now, what the hell happened to their niece, Anna?  She has disappeared for the past couple of episodes. 

Lynette witnessed Julie and Dominic “Nick” Bolen having an argument about the end of their relationship.  After trying to convince him to stay away from Julie, Lynette also went to the police.  But as soon as Nick got home, Angie admitted that she gave him an alibi.  Here’s my question: what is Angie’s alibi for that night?  Julie’s screwing around with her husband and she’s the only Bolen at this point who hasn’t been checked out.  Also, are they supposed to be in the witness protection program or something?  Angie made the comment that neither her or Nick could leave one another — why not?

Last but not least, we have Bree.  Who is starting to look a little Skeletor, is she not?  Orson tried to pick up a broach similar to the one he believed she purchased, and in questioning her about it, she blew up on him and said that she wants a divorce and he can’t win her back with trinkets.  When will we finally see the end of Bree & Orson?  And who will Orson hook up with next now that the town bicycle (AKA Edie) is dead?

I totally saw that coming!  Dexter was not his usual self in last night’s episode, going off and killing someone without stalking them first to ensure they were the bad guy.  The photographer he beheaded (pretty brutal!) was too insistent until the end that he had not killed those models, and I believed him.  I kept yelling, “It’s his assistant!  It’s his assistant!” which confused my brother tremendously b/c he thought I was saying that Dexter was accidentally killing the assistant.

One theory at my water cooler this morning is that Trinity is definitely building that coffin for Dexter.  So they’re both on to one another and it’s really a battle of who swings the axe first.  Obviously my money’s on Dexter, but I’m not certain how he’s going to do the Trinity killing — will it be like his regular kills on the table with victim’s pictures hung up?  Or will he need to make it look like an accident?

Last night, I was watching an episode of ‘Sit Down, Shut Up’, and was partially enjoying the idea that one of the teachers created a Meth Lab instead of a Math Lab. The character’s voice was done by Will Forte, who also did the voice of Abe Lincoln in Clone High. That got me to thinking about something. A lot of television shows get canceled too fast. A lot of really good ones. Some of them come back (Okay, just Family Guy), some of them go to other channels, and some are just forgotten in this day and age of insane amounts of reality television. Fox is especially bad for this one (insert Family Guy link to Peter naming all of the shows it had cancelled), but whatever. I’m not going to pick on networks or what-have-you, I’m going to say why I think it would have been great to have one more season

We begin with:

QUANTUM LEAP

Yes, that is a spelling mistake. No, I didn’t make that up. That’s a screenshot of the end of the series. Originally, it was to be the end of season five, all cliffhanger-like, but it was canceled for the second time (also cut after season three, but a letter-petition had it renewed for season four). There are several hints throughout the episode that this leap might have all been in Sam’s imagination, but it never really pans out, and having it end with a happy ending still doesn’t make much sense. For those that don’t remember, here’s what happened (a true wiki reference. how odd!):

In the series’ final episode, Sam encounters a mysterious bartender who insinuates detailed knowledge of Sam’s “mission” and his true identity. Sam comes to believe the bartender might actually be that higher power, though the man neither confirms nor explicitly denies this. The bartender helps Sam remember that he built Project Quantum Leap because he wanted to put right what once went wrong, and makes him realize that he himself has control over his leaps. He then asks Sam where he wishes to leap to next. Sam replies by saying he wishes to return home, but he cannot as he still has a wrong to put right for Al, by letting his first wife Beth know that Al is still alive. Sam then promptly leaps out and does so. The show’s epilogue states that Sam never returned home, after showing a picture on the mantle of Al, turning into one of Al, Beth, and their daughters.

I actually had to edit that wikipedia paragraph because it was poorly written, and parts were roundabout. That’s wikipedia for you. Anyway, the point of it is all to hack-job for me. This show was a rather consistently fantastic one, in that it never got terrible, it had great character development, and in it’s final season, had a bit of fun with it’s (so they call it) “kisses with history”. But it was terminated before it could ever have a climax, or an actual ending that someone could remember fondly. I didn’t get into the show until it had already been cancelled for some time. Around 2001, I had lost my job and was moping around the house and ended up catching every episode in a row on Space reruns, and almost got excruciatingly mad at my television when I saw the ending that was put together. I felt like I had put so much time into a show that I adored, and to have it’s lasting legacy one of anger, well, that kind of sucks. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to see it on television when it aired originally. It could almost compare to the horror I felt when I watched the American “Life On Mars” finale, which, well, I don’t know. There was nothing redeeming about that.

Anyway, there’s a lot of un-resolved issues in Quantum Leap. Rumors were abound for a while that there was to be another show based on Sam Beckett’s daughter going to find him (he had a daughter in a three-episode arc in season four, probably some of the best episodes), which seems like it would have been kind of short, but at least it would have been resolved. People don’t like to be cheated at the end of movies or television shows, especially if it’s done in a sub-par way, and I feel that the ending to this not only leaves much to the imagination, but for a show that’s still watched in rerun form, and still talked about enough, it’s hard to determine why there aren’t a lot more people who talk about how upsetting it is. Sure, maybe it’s just me. Maybe I just got too attached to the show and I should hide out somewhere on the internerds to talk about it with other super-fans. But I really feel that a show that was so consistent with it’s writing should have had one final go at it.

This is a good time to mention that somebody out there made A fanfic movie. It’s about Sam Beckett being ordered by the President to have something to do with Princess Di’s death. Which doesn’t make sense, considering the fact that we never did find out how Sam was leaping into people; was it “God”? Was Sam doing it himself? We’ll never know, because some douche decided to end it too soon. Anger stoppage alert. Onward!

Throughout the show, Al was a womanizingly hilarious jerk, who at one point even thought a woman Sam leapt into was hot. His womary knew no bounds, until a scene in season Two, where Sam has leapt into a man who is somewhere near Al’s first wife. His attitude completely changes, and you can see that the womanizing bastardry has been put on solely to make up for what he lost. If the end of season four is any indication, and if Back-to-The-Future-movie-ethics serves correct, we would have a completely different Al Calavicci, right? I mean, he’s still married to the woman he loves. He’s no longer dating random chicks with random names. Isn’t that a complete change of four years of character development? And if Sam never does come home, well then, how close does he get? The series continually reminded us that sometimes his brain has the “swiss cheese” effect, in that he can’t remember specific things from his regular life, so who’s to say he even knows that he has a daughter? If she found him, how would she get him back to the “waiting room”, and out of his leaps? The only time I’d ever seen two people leap at once was because of a lightning strike (when there was some “evil leaper” people putting wrong what once went right). There are so many fantastic possibilites that could even be put together in a two hour movie, or one final season that would have Sam leaping into places that he would remember from points in his life again, so that he would begin to remember people, with the climax of the final episode showing his removal from the leaping place. All this can be done. It’s simple. Heck, maybe I’ll sit down and write it and pitch it to Donald P. Bellisario. I have ideas. But for now, when I sit and watch this show, and it’s continued fantastic writing, even by today’s standards, I’m sad knowing that somewhere out there, Sam continues to leap until his eventual death. Something’s unsettling about that.

If it ever were to come together, what would you want to see for Sam and Al in a movie version?
I think everyone would want Sam to make it back in time, and (I’d like to see) the story of how that is brought about. That would fulfill Al as well, bringing Sam back (home). He tried to do it for four and a half years.

I hope this is a typo. Wandered back home last night to see “Closing Down Sale” signs plastered all over the strangest and best movie shop in the world. This could be disastrous. I even cancelled our LoveFilm subscription on the basis that poking around Prime Time’s dusty shelves was more fun than waiting for a film that you didn’t care about to land on the doormat. Perhaps it’s just a renovation? I’ll find out more.

This week we are in Washington, D.C. the capital of the United States of America. I love Washington D.C. Its a beautiful city.  They will be lobbying congress about obesity in America..talking to members of Congress.
 

For the Pop challenge…The group has to get people to go workout at the Lincoln memorial with Bob and Jillian and wear their color sticker. The the group is forced to run around D.C. for an hour and find people who will support them.

Liz has the most people there….so she wins basically get out of jail free card (skip one) card. The music on this show is really getting ridiculous. Too emotional. Its like come on….  The challenge is to run a mile. Liz decides not to use her skip one card…..luckily she makes it into the first 6 people to finish the mile, so they can participate in the next part of the challenge.  Next challenge walking up and down the stairs in D.C. picking up pennies and walking them to the top of stairs and dumping it in a change counter. 3 people will be allowed to move on….the first three to fill up their tubes.Of course Liz uses her (skip one) Rebecca, Daniel, Rudy, Liz are participating in the next challenge which is a balancing challenge…holding a big yoga type ball. Rebecca and Rudy are the last two people….whoever wins this challenge get immunity…for the weigh-in. Rebecca and Rudy are going at it…and Rebecca is moving so quickly up and down on these steps. She is going so fast….She wins. Next day they are going inside the white house…now regardless of your political affliation I think it would be really cool to go inside the white house so much history! Bob and Amanda go walk around…and start talking about ways to not eat sweets… and the product plugs are getting annoying…..

So the biggest loser contestants go to the white house…and bob praises the white house for having their own garden which is where they get all their vegetables. The first garden since Roosevelt, which is really surprising to me! The contestants go to kitchen and start making food in the white house. It was very cool. They made beautiful salad all from the garden veggies. This episode we are spending way to much time watching them workout….great now we get to listen to Amanda and how pathetic she is. I can’t stand her…and Bob of course is being supportive and nice…which is annoying.  Basically we get to watch Amanda break some kind of emotional breakdown running a mile….because Bob is there by her side. She has a crush on Bob. I mean who wouldn’t do better with Bob pushing you lose weight…or Jillian? Now we are at the weigh-in at the Lincoln memorial.Rebecca has immunity. Shay is up next hoping she will go below 400 pounds big milestone she weighs in at 393! Tracy is next she loses 3 pounds….good I hope she goes home. Daniel starting at 272 remember when he was 400+ pounds. He loses 11 pounds…. which is good. Alan is next (I love Alan. He is awesome) you can just tell this guy is a good person. THE MUSIC is just so dramatic. He loses 9 pounds  safe from elimination. Danny is next. I like him, another good person. He loses 12 pounds, the men are just throwing up huge numbers. I think its great these people are losing weight, and it seems like really changing their lives. I hope Biggest Loser inspires people…I mean it should at least. Tracey is worried because she ‘doesn’t want to go home’ well guess what Tracey……….no one cares about you.

Rudy loses 9 pounds…which is good he is upset its not a double digit…he has lost 110 pounds in 8 weeks…I mean thats a lot of weight!!!! Liz the southern belle is next…she loses 3 pounds…I think Liz could go home and be fine…next up cry baby (amanda) the other idiot in the house….I’m sorry but this girl is ridiculous. I just can’t stand some of the attitudes these girls have. Its like…I understand you went through a lot in your life, and you eat…she loses 7 pounds-she should be losing so much more weight she is young!!!! her and Bob embrace blah blah…no one  cares

Liz and Tracey elimination….The votes are in: Tracey clearly goes home. She is excited to see her family…and crys and crys…She has lost so much weight, she looks like a different person. Of course the music….blah blah the triumph of it all. It seems like Jillian and Bob worked on her! Running an 11 min mile. She has lost 85 pounds. Good for her…even though she is annoying. I feel so clever for coming up with that “Holy Trinity” quip since we’ve discovered that Arthur Mitchell is, in fact, a church-going man.  My friends and I have been bouncing a lot of theories around about this Lundy killing and who the Vacation Killer actually is.  Well, the Vacation Killer is Johnny Rose and that deadbeat girlfriend.  I was kinda thinking maybe they’d been set up, but they really did kill all those people and admitted to it. 

One recent theory that I kinda like was that Quinn was behind all of this.  He has a connection to Deb, so he wouldn’t want her dead.  But I can’t for the life of me strategize as to why he would want Lundy dead. 

I personally am still of the belief that the reporter is the shooter, and now that she’s trying to get Deb to give “her side of the story” maybe it’s just another case of blind ambition?  Do reporters shoot people to further their career?  We’ll find out.

What I know more than anything is that Trinity scares the holy bejeez out of me.  And I would like him to get killed right away, but I don’t think that’s happening next week, despite blood on the tip of Dexter’s axe.

As we continue our Vampire Week celebration here at The Steve Austin Book Club, today we are going to take a look at the rise and fall of a TV show that EG dearly loved – Forever Knight.

He was brought across in 1228 – preyed on humans for their blood. Now, he wants to be mortal again … to repay society for his sins … To emerge from his world of darkness … from his endless Forever Knight.

Starting in 1992, each episode of Forever Knight opened with those words. A nice, succinct way to let folks know what the show was about. But, for the beginning of this show, we really need to look earlier… not 1228, but 1989.

From Jessie’s Girl to Coffin…

And, here is where I show my age. One Saturday night, as I was flipping through the channels, I came across a television movie on CBS. It was a vampire movie (which hooked me) called Nick Knight. In this movie, Rick Springfield (attempting to escape soap operas) played Nick Knight, L.A. cop and vampire.

After centuries of giving into his vampire ways, Nick was trying to cure himself. Helping in this effort was Dr. Jack Brittington (Robert Harper), forensic pathologist and the only one who knew what Nick truly was.

He was advising Nick to live as a human in order to become human – eating real food, no longer drinking blood, and exposing himself UV light via tanning beds. Nick was also seeking out some magical goblets that could cure him.

When some homeless are found drained of blood, Nick is partnered with Detective Don Schanke (John Kapelos) to investigate.  (Note to readers:  That character’s last name is pronounced “Skanky.”  I know, right?  Awesome.)

Through the investigation, Nick comes to believe that Lacroix (Michael Nader), the vampire that sired him, is responsible.

I won’t spoil the movie any further. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. And, though it was supposed to launch a TV series, that never happened.

Well, not quite never…

The Schanke Years

In 1992, CBS was desperate for some sort of late night programming to go against the Tonight Show and Nightline. After going through a bunch of hosted, Tonight Show-esque programs (one of which starred Wheel of Fortune’s Pat Sajak), CBS decided to switch gears. The result? Crimetime After Primetime.

Crimetime After Primetime was a schedule of different hour long crime shows that aired, each airing once a week. The only one worth mentioning (at least, in my opinion) was Forever Knight.

Forever Knight was Nick Knight revamped (totally didn’t realize the pun, but I’m leaving it, so there!). Of all of the cast, the only actor to return from the original pilot movie was John Kapelos as Detective Don Schanke.

Nick Knight, now played by Geraint Wyn Davies, was now a Toronto cop and vampire. The basic idea of him seeking a cure and redemption continued in this series.

Dr. Jack Brittington became Dr. Natalie Lambert (Catherine Disher).

The role of Lecroix was taken over by Nigel Bennett.

And, the role of Janette (another vampire that appeared in the first pilot that I didn’t mention) changed from Cec Verrell…

…to Deborah Duchene.

Though production values were lower on the series than for the original pilot, across the board, I thought the level of acting went up.

Almost immediately, the show garnered a devoted fan base. Unfortunately, CBS was soon to drop the entire Crimetime After Primetime format, after securing David Letterman for their late night programming.

The voice of the fans was heard, though, and Forever Knight was continued in syndication.

The show’s popularity continued to grow in syndication through the end of the second season.

And, then, the writer’s saw Interview with the Vampire.

The Sun Rises (and we all know what happens to vampires when that happens)

With the third season, major changes came. It was announced that John Kapelos would not be returning to the series (no more Schanke… *sigh*).

It was also announced that Deborah Duchene’s role of Janette, vampire confidant of Nick, was also being eliminated.

Lisa Ryder, as Detective Tracey Vetter, came in as Nick’s partner.

Along with her, came a new, Lestat/Louis-esque vampire named Vachon (Ben Bass).

More and more, the focus of the show shifted toward the new characters, and the storylines seemed to be drawing from the same well as the well-known Anne Rice Vampire novels.

And, perhaps for the best, after three seasons and a radical change in the direction of the show, Forever Knight ended.

I do miss the show, but not what it was becoming. If the show had maintained the quality level that it had in the first two seasons, I would miss it more, but I’m pretty sure if it had continued the way it was headed, I would’ve dropped it.

Still, it is a good idea, and maybe, given the prevalence of vampires in primetime and movie theaters, we’ll see the concept revived yet again.

I miss Schanke.

Biggest Loser starts out….with everyone upset about tracy still being on campus. they show one work out….and they go to a challenge digging big metal boxes with keys inside them out of sand piles…and digging down 6 ft….a very intense challenge. no one knows what the prize is…so that keeps everyone wondering…and they hope it is something amazing..these people are sweating, dripping…I mean working SO hard…allan the fire fighter is amazing. the prize-trip home! the blue team wins gives it to the black team…and they are so nervous because they won’t be on campus.

I cry in this show so much. always crying, the tears, and the music they just want you to try and these people are showing real emotion. every person has such an emotional reunion. and some people aunts uncles and family members…I’m telling you its the music!!!! how can you not cry? the family members hear the challenge…all the comfort is gone, no healthy biggest loser kitchen, no jillian to kick your ass….just you all on you…
newport beach to tulsa to mabank, texas, commerce california, butler new jersey,  to north carolina….we follow dina running, shay at the grocery store and amanda hanging out with friends. bob is going to work his team to the high heavens. Of course everyone is trying to work so hard at home….amanda, dina, shay all eating out!!!!!  but jillian would be happy because they all order very bland food watching their families eat pizza, fries, and fried chicken, shay is just picking at her food.. i mean the only person who they show cooking at home is danny….dina is watching people eat appitzer after appitzer…she is ‘disgusted’  and several of the contestents realize they need to help their families eat healthier. blue team ends up at the food bank! 1 in every 8 americans is at risk for hunger…if that is true…i don’t even know what to say. it makes me sad. so they fill backpacks with food for children and families as a charity project which is great.  My favorite time…..last chance workout. i love it. daniel has a breakdown about his mother-jillian understands…which is not rare for her…
 

now i think the majority of this show is commericals. its so annoying.
here we are the weigh in………….blue team allan first: loses 8 pounds, rebecca 5 pounds (not that great and she realizes it besides she is young…she should be shedding weight, tracy (my arch nemis) loses 4 pounds and starts crying she is a freak…i’m mad she lost 4 pounds, liz loses 4 pounds, rudy loses 14 pounds another week of double digits…he has lost 87 pounds!!!! on to black team amanda ‘the crier’  she irritates me…she lost 6 pounds at home! which is better than some people did on the ranch! its better than she has done on the ranch! send her home!!!!! shay is next….5 pounds…abby my favorite she loses 4 pounds she has been through so much this woman lost her family, her children and husband…i mean that type of devestation its just heartbreaking. dina, she needs to cut her hair and loses 5 pounds- some of these people just aren’t shedding the weight… danny loses 15 pounds!!! at home! yes ladies and gentlemen at home!!!!! amazing. daniel on the scale the old biggest loser…..wow…he gains a pound no way. come on. black team loses and goes to elimination. 2 votes for dina, and 1 vote for daniel….now its danny’s turn he votes for daniel so the votes are tied…..amanda (who i can’t stand) and shay who is great…amanda votes for dina and so does shay! i couldn’t believe it!  so we see her leave 35 pounds lighter which is good…and let me tell you she has heart which I love about her…she weighs 188 now!!! its amazing she looks great and her son is so cute inspires her its awesome.
 

Dina goes and gets a makeover!!! and she needed one…she looks great.
next week….the teams face off one and one vs eachother..amanda has a breakdown of course, and who knows what else…they have me watching just for one more week..and tracy better go home…

Mini Diva

As you know, Lunki has tried to become a judge on American Idol since the rumor of Simon Cowell’s departure from the show came last spring. Without success. He was given a second chance a couple of months ago when the news of Paula Abdul’s leaving hit the news world. Again without success. He seems a little irritated about that, I guess because he thinks he was born to judge.

Imagine the reaction when he heard that I had been chosen to judge a contest on Swedish Television. Fine, it’s not prime-time FOX, but it’s “Mitt i Naturen” (In the Middle of Nature), Sweden’s biggest nature show! Lunki has now left the office and I don’t think he’s coming back today.

It’s true, tomorrow I will be watching a couple of nature documentaries sent in by viewers to decide which is the best one. With me on the judges panel is a bird watcher, a TV host, and a biology student.  So, why me as the fourth one? Well, I guess they needed a celebrity judge.

And thankfully that almost makes up for my placement in the Philips ad. Wish me luck!

If you are not caught up on Dexter as of the October 18th episode, I recommend you stop right now before reading this.  Because someone died, and I think I know who that someone’s killer was.  It was of serious debate at water cooler time for the past week, and now I’m going to share my theory with you all.

First off, the person who died was Lundy.  Deb was also shot.  And yes, in case you are wondering, it is certain that Lundy is dead.  There’s no chance of him making it.  This will leave Dexter to fight Trinity all by his lonesome, which is how it was meant to be anyway.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m devastated about Lundy — but it was only a matter of time before he figured out who Dexter was; after all, the man bumped into Trinity and recognized a “look” in his eyes that told him how crazy he is. 

So my theory being that the Honeymoon Murderer is that reporter that Quinn has been banging and giving secrets to.  From the beginning, something was off about her behavior.  And not just because she was writing the things that Quinn told her off the record.  My belief is that she is the Honeymoon Killer and that when Quinn told her that “Lundy thinks that this latest death is somehow tied to a string of other murders” she worked under the assumption that Lundy was on to her — rather than being on to Trinity.  Either way, she had the knowledge that Lundy knows his shit.

Mizzou’s game against Texas on Saturday, Oct 24 will air on ABC at 7 p.m. Central. It will be a split-national game. Some of the country will see Oregon State vs. Southern California.

The decision was announced near the close of today’s Oklahoma-Texas game. The Longhorns beat the Sooners 16-13 in Dallas.

Brent Musberger will do play-by-play with analysis from Kirk Herbstreit. Lisa Salters is the sideline reporter.

Missouri appeared on ABC in primetime against Texas in Austin last year. Texas, then ranked No. 1, scored five straight touchdowns to open that game, and beat then-No. 11 Missouri 56-31.

Texas is 6-0 after its win over OU today. The last undefeated team to come to Faurot Field was, in fact, Oklahoma State last year.
