Monday Night RAW: December 7, 2009

Well, I’m a little late with this one as I got a virus and had to fix the computer which took all day yesterday. Finally got everything up and running, so let’s hope this week’s RAW is better than last weeks, although I don’t think it’s possible to be as bad as last weeks.

Tonight’s RAW guest host is Mark Cubin; I think he owns a sports team, not sure. Way to get D List celebrities Vince! Who’s next Torrie Spelling, maybe Joan Rivers, seriously this guest host thing is crap. They should’ve just had former wrestler as hosts, which would’ve been mildly entertaining at least. Oh boy, six nights from another lackluster PPV, and tonight Miz v. Henry, that doesn’t sound promising. Jericho v. D-X as well, that’s might be good, Jericho can usual bring it.

1. Mark Cubin is introduced to the crowd, way to dress for the occasion. He looks like David Flair and for a billionaire he dresses like a bum. Cubin goes for the cheap pop asking for Maverick fans, and says tonight he’s going to get crazy at ringside. He continues by saying tonight we get a showdown between Sheamus and John Cena, way to stay partial there Cubin. Well, if he’s endorsing Cena, I assume he’s going to cheap shot him. Cubin then says let’s get this show underway and brings out John Cena.
2. John Cena v. Carlito. Looks funny with both guys in Orange tonight, as we show Cubin at ringside with the Bella Twins. Carlito starts by pounding Cena down in the corner, then a stiff kick to the head and a nice knee lift. Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment and Carlito reverses to a drop kick. Cena on the offense with the shoulder block and that stupid lift and turn move, Cena signals for a fist drop and Sheamus’ music stars as he comes down the ramp. Cubin goes up the ramp to stop Sheamus and brings out security. As Cena is distracted Carlito nails him from behind and then goes for the backstabber but Cena catches him in the Attitude Adjustment for the win.  2.25/5 match was going well till the Sheamus interference, then it just went to a quick end, Carlito deserves better than this.
3. Randy Orton & Legacy come down the ramp as we get the recap of last week’s beat down on Kingston. Orton starts by saying he applauds Mark for showing authority tonight and says the Championship Showdown with Cena and Sheamus will end in chaos. Orton says he doesn’t care who wins, because of what Cubin is about to do for him. Orton says the ban will be lifted tonight and that he will be the number one contender for the title no matter who wins. DiBiase has the mic and says rich people have pride but shouldn’t be stupid as we see what happened the last time Orton and Cubin were in the same building when Orton hit the RKO on Cubin. Cubin says you will not fight the winner of the table match and Orton got lucky last week with Kofi because the refs don’t have the guts to stop the match. Cubin continues by saying he respects Orton as a competitor and says Orton will face Kingston tonight, but Cubin will be the ref. Rhodes responds by saying Orton can and will hurt Cubin and calls Cubin all talk. Cody continues by making fun of Cubin’s team for losing the playoffs and challenges Cubin to get in the ring tonight. Cubin responds by saying let’s take this up in June after the Mavericks win the NBA finals, way to back down Cubin. Cubin then introduces Legacy’s opponents tonight.
4. Legacy v. Evan Bourne & Primo. This should be a good match, as four impressive young talents in one match. We go to commercial as B&P come out, we come back to Primo getting double teamed by Legacy and DiBiase gets a two count. DiBiase hits a nice dropkick on Primo as we get a promo for the Slammy Awards at the bottom of the screen which is next week. Primo hits a backdrop and tries to make the tag but Rhodes cuts him off; both men collide head to head and try to make a tag. Both men make the tag and Evan knocks Ted down and gets caught up top. DiBiase knocked back and Bourne hits the double knee. DiBiase nails Evan and hits Dream Street for the win. 3/5 nice tag match, a like the team of Bourne and Primo, at least it gives them both something to do. Nothing to complain about for this match really, might be the best of the night. After the match we see Cubin talking to the ring announcer who says Legacy is now to be ejected from the arena. Now a recap of Sheamus destroying Jamie Noble from about 6 weeks ago, good way to show off the destructiveness of Shamus.
5. Maryse v. Gail Kim We come back from commercials to see Kelly Kelli in the ring as she introduces the divas. Poor Gail, what a waste of her talents as she is the jobber of the Divas which sucks after the great matches she had in TNA with Awesome Kong. Maryse starts out by slapping Gail who responds with a spear. Gail whips Maryse in and she holds the ropes, Maryse goes for a kick and is blocked. Gail keeps the speed up as she pounds on Maryse, Maryse with a slap and then she tries to run and eats the ring apron, followed by a turnbuckle. Gail goes up top and Maryse pulls the legs out and scores the pin with her feet on the ropes. 2.75/5 basically just Gail dominating till Maryse hits a sweep and uses the ropes, probably about two minutes long. Why the divas don’t get more time for their matches is beyond me, like they can’t afford to give them 7 or 8 minutes for a match? After the match Maryse goes out to Kelly and grabs the mic, Maryse says close but not really, Kelly forgot one thing that she is the next champ and demands Kelly to say it. Kelly pushes her and Maryse starts to pound on Kelly as Melina comes out to make the save. We go backstage to DX decorating a Christmas tree and shill their merchandise. I love the fact there is a huge poster of Hulk Hogan behind them, as Shawn starts playing on the X-Box. Triple H gives Shawn a present, which he opens to reveal Hornswoggle. This crap is never going to end, well time to hit fast forward now, enough of this garbage. Next Sheamus moment is the knockout kick for the King that was hilarious.
6. Kofi Kingston v. Randy Orton. We see Cubin already in the ring as the referee as Orton is introduced. Are we ever going to just get the actual one on one match with these two instead of all the extra crap? Kofi starts by pounding Orton in corner and clothesline’s Orton over the top rope. Kofi does a nice dive through the ropes onto Orton and rolls Randy back in the ring. Orton springs up with a nice clothesline and Kofi is down. Orton begins his slow methodical beat down on Kingston as Cubin watches intently. Orton slams Kofi down and follows with the big knee drop, into a headlock. Damn, the match was going well till this rest hold, at least it was brief. Randy with a kick to the ribs and back to the headlock, Kofi fights his way out and gets in the corner. Cubin pulls him back and Kofi spring back in the corner again, followed by the side Russian leg sweep. Kofi hits the Boom Drop and readies for Trouble in Paradise which misses and Orton with the backbreaker, I love that move always looks so freaking painful. Orton glares at Cubin and begins to stalk Kofi and goes for the RKO, which is then reversed into a backslide for a quick count. 3.75/5 good match but the headlock dragged it down and the finish really put a bad mark on it. I just want to see a good one on one match with these two, no guest refs, no Legacy, just a match. Cubin announces the rematch at TLC; let’s hope it’s a good match. We now get another Sheamus clip; they’re really pushing him hard tonight, the battle royal from two weeks ago. I really would like to see Sheamus win the title; I think we really need some fresh blood on top.
7. Mark Henry v. The Miz. I really hate to say it, but I think Henry’s going to win the title. Henry’s been here fourteen years and he’s just as bad as he was in his rookie year. I really like The Miz; he’s got that certain something that could make a main guy one day. He’s got the talent and the ability to cut a promo, he may be better off in TNA though. Miz starts quick with headlock and Henry tosses him away. Henry hits a head butt and Miz goes for a sunset flip. Mark Henry almost sits on Miz, but Miz got out of the way and hits a kick to the face. Miz smartly holds Henry down and pounds on the big man. Henry once again overpowers The Miz and just squishes the champion. Miz hits a dropkick to the back knocking Henry out of the ring, Miz follows up with a dropkick into the back of Henry who hits the steps. Henry catches Miz and chokes him down and rolls in the ring, Miz off the top and gets caught. Mark goes for the slam and it’s reversed into the DDT for the win. 2.5/5 that was a quick and unexpected win, glad Miz won but not a good match, but what can you expect from Henry. We see Chris Masters with Mark Cubin as we come back from commercial.
8. Hornswoggle & Eve Torres v. Chavo Guerrero & Jillian Hall. What a waste of time and a waste of two great talents, Jillian & Chavo. Jillian should be feuding with Melina and Maryse and Chavo should be used better. This is going to be horrible and of course Horny is going to win, yuck. Not wasting my time recapping this garbage, unless something interesting happens, say hello to fast forward. Eve scores the pin after a nice senton drop on Jillian. 1/5 only good parts were Jillian looking great in purple and the senton from Eve, otherwise a complete waste of time. After the match Chavo grabs a hold of Hornswoggle, guess we know why Masters was at ringside with Cubin, as Eve is screaming at Chavo. Chavo throws Hornswoggle down and Eve stands in front of Chavo protecting Horny, Chavo gets in her face and Chris Masters then slides in the ring, so now he’s a good guy? Chavo pushes Masters back, and then Chris Masters starts doing that stupid pec dance, guess that’s his way of Hulking Up, as he puts the Masterlock on Chavo. Masters helps Eve out of the ring as Hornswoggle follows what a complete waste in every way possible. More of Sheamus as we see Sheamus’ interview from last week and the beat down on Santino.
9. Chris Jericho v. D-X. Jericho comes out with a microphone and as we see a sea of “Jericho Sucks” signs behind him. Jericho says he doesn’t suck, because he is the 2008 Superstar of the year and next week he’ll be the Superstar of the year again. Jericho says he is bigger than Raw or Smackdown and he goes wherever he wants. Chris says D-X will be embarrassed and banished, and to never underestimate Chris Jericho. We start with Jericho and Shawn as Jericho gets caught in the corner and double teamed; Shawn beats Jericho to the mat and runs him into HHH’s boot. More double teaming and a tag as Triple H whips Jericho into Shawn’s boot and another tag. D-X doing quick tags as Jericho is getting destroyed, what is the point to a handicap match anyway? Jericho throws the ref into HHH as Big Shows comes out and picks up Shawn by the ears. Show pounds Shawn in the corner as Triple H nails Show with a chair and Show hits the chair into the Game. Shawn with the drop toe hold on Show and grabs a ladder but Jericho baseball slides the ladder into Shawn. Someone should check on the ref, he may be dead! Show swings the ladder into both members of D-X and pins them both in the ladder and Jericho pounds the ladder with a chair, cool visual. Jericho rolls outside and grabs the belt and yells at DX they will never win these belts as Jericho climbs the ladder with the titles and Show stands in front. 2.25/5 match never really got going, about 2 minutes in and ref bump and then just another beat down.
10. Mark Cubin in the ring for the Championship Showdown as Mark brings out Sheamus & Cena. Not the way I want a show to end with a debate, where’s Scott Steiner when we need him. I want a debate between Steiner and Sid, which would be comedy gold. Cubin asks Sheamus why he thinks he’s going to win, stupid question. I’m not going to transcribe the whole thing as this is just going to drag on. Sheamus says he’s undefeated and it took Cena three years to win a title and Cena’s response is no comment, yeah whatever. I have to say I have a hard time understanding Sheamus, the accent is just hard to decipher. Sheamus says John never faced anyone like him, as Cena looks angry, or is that constipated? The crowd chants Cena and Cena once again says no comment, and the monkeys in the crowd cheer. For what, he keeps saying the same thing over and over again, just like his matches. Cena finally says he has a question, as he mention he’s been in the WWE for seven years, seems like so much longer. Cena goes over all the people he beat from Shawn Michaels to K-Fed. Cena’s doing a long drawn out history lesson now; as he talks about all his injuries and that he’s never given up. Cena tells Sheamus back up what you say or become a footnote. Sheamus knocks the table over and Cena responds by doing the same, Sheamus then nails Cubin, distracting Cena who gets nailed with the big boot, which the camera almost missed. Sheamus starts throwing the furniture around as we get the replay, Sheamus grabs a table and sets it up in the corner as Cena starts to get up and eats another big kick. Now Cubin slowly pulls himself up and Sheamus looks at him and they go nose to nose, and Cubin sends Sheamus down with a big shove, way to make the number one contender look good. Sheamus gets up and stares at Cubin, and hits a big knee to the stomach of Mark Cubin. Sheamus grabs the guest host and drives him through the table! The boos of the crowd are just raining down on Sheamus, who proclaims himself the new champion. Suddenly the Mavericks start to hop the barrier and Sheamus leaves the ring. Cena slowly gets up and Sheamus is at the top of the ramp as we fade out for this week.

Well a much better show then last week, at least we had 7 matches, even if one was a joke. Two matches were not bad, but still a lot of junk and useless crap. I know it’s the show before a PPV but still, can’t we have some good matches? Why didn’t Melina wrestle? Ah well, at least I have ECW to look forward too.

Monday’s edition of RAW worked hard to put over this Sunday’s Pay-Per-View Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.  The show especially focused on some last minute building up of John Cena’s TLC challenger for the WWE championship, Sheamus.  The rookie’s past exploits on RAW were recounted in a series of video packages shown throughout the program, but unfortunately the videos served to illustrate the brevity of the Celtic Warrior’s RAW tenure more so than its genuine impact.  How much more can they milk Sheamus’s retiring of Jamie Noble anyway?  Noble was a good worker and underrated performer, but he wasn’t getting any TV time and hadn’t had a win or an angle in greater than two years. So in effect Sheamus took out the lowest ranking superstar on the RAW roster… well, okay second lowest; I always forget that Hacksaw Jim Duggan is still under contract.  But anyway…

Members of the production team weren’t the only ones working overtime to put the big red rookie over before Sunday’s show.  Commentators Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole, as well as John Cena and the show’s guest GM Mark Cuban (billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks and 9-11 conspiracy theorist) got in on the action as well.  The broadcast culminated in Cuban’s hosting a “Championship Showdown,” in which he asked the champ and the challenger a series of questions.  Cena performed well in this segment, visibly struggling to keep his temper in check as he answered “no comment” to the first two inquiries.  When he finally laid into the rookie, he was as always really good on the mic.  He played on his battle-tested, seen all-done all persona, citing everything from his numerous surgeries to his program with Kevin Federline as a means of illustrating how he’d weathered every storm and come out deserving of his place at the top.  He closed by admitting that Sheamus impressed him but failed to intimidate him.  Sheamus responded by overturning one of the conference tables set up in the ring (honestly tables and wrestlers just don’t mix, when will we learn:  A table in the presence of a pro wrestler has the life expectancy equal to that of a night watchman in a horror movie).

Things went from ugly to uglier, when Sheamus shoved down Cuban and then leveled a distracted Cena with a kick to the skull.  The big man then nestled one of the tables in the turnbuckle, and it looked like he was once again going to make a statement by throwing the champ through it.  Instead, however, he knocked Cena out with a second kick and then stood nose to nose with an angered Cuban, who shockingly pushed the Celtic Warrior down to the canvas with a single (and not too forceful looking) shove.

I don’t think that Sheamus was supposed to go down, when Cuban pushed him.  Lawler and Cole seemed to be doing some damage control with their commentary.  Lawler said that Sheamus was “not ready” for the push and was “off balance,” while Cole insisted that Sheamus “tripped over himself.”  It does look pretty bad when a non-wrestler takes the brand’s top monster heel off his feet, especially after that heel has just taken out the company’s top face.  But Sheamus attained retribution by scooping Cuban up and sending him through the table, provoking a delayed and belabored response from a handful of Mavericks seated in the front row.

Sheamus showed a lot of intensity after destroying the guest GM, and although his performance on the mic sounded extremely scripted, he sold it well enough.  The new comer is clearly trying his best.  Who knows, maybe the WWE championship match at TLC will turn out to be a classic, and the Celtic Warrior will begin to earn some of his massive push.

Elsewhere on the show:  My first thought, when I tuned into RAW, was that the guest GM Mark Cuban looked like your standard not-too-bright, rich douche bag.  You know the type: stunted frat boy looks, rude to waiters, always tries to tip hospital employees, hasn’t finished a book since high school, and refers to the Mavericks as “the Mavs.”  I imagine I’m not the only one out here in the WWE Universe who spent at least half of the first segment thinking he was the guy who created the Girls Gone Wild video series.

But, ultimately Cuban (though he never lost his rich jerk swagger) did a fine job as host.  He was spirited and relatively well versed, especially when dealing with Randy Orton and Legacy.  Cuban’s methods for getting even with Orton (who RKOed the loud-mouthed billionaire at the 2003 Survivor Series) and his minions were a little unconvincing, however.  First he threw Legacy into a match against Evan Bourne and Primo Colon.  Both Bourne and Colon are great performers, but Cuban obviously didn’t know that they were jobbers or he wouldn’t have counted on them to humiliate Legacy.  Someone should have told the GM that putting Rhodes and Dibiase in the ring with enhancement talent would only lead to Legacy coming out enhanced.

His plot to embarrass Orton was a little off as well.  He made a match between Orton and his nemesis Kofi Kingston and announced that he himself would officiate the contest.  The two rivals put together an entertaining match, which ended when Kingston countered the RKO into a backslide, which gave Cuban the opportunity to fast count Orton for a tainted Kingston victory.  At first glance it seemed like Cuban’s measure of payback on Orton was successful, upon a closer look, however, its holes become more apparent.  For instance: If Cuban planned on screwing over Orton all along, why didn’t he make Orton wrestle someone to whom it would have been embarrassing to lose…. like Santino Marella?  Santino getting the opportunity to boast about beating Orton would have lent itself to some funny segments over the next few weeks as well.  Plus, from a booking stand point, its incongruous with Kofi’s emerging character to be used as a pawn in some billionaire’s revenge game and ultimately accept a tainted victory at the hands of a crooked ref.  Oh well, at least it’s always fun to see a fast count.

In the Christmas themed DX Segment, it was pretty funny when Shawn Michaels said that the sketch’s bad writing was “taking him out of the holidays.”  DX’s handicap match with Jericho turned out to be a shmoz, in which Jericho and the Big Show used a ladder to beat down Michaels and Triple H.  Jericho has done a particularly good job of promoting the Tag Team Championship match at TLC.  After Christian V.S. Shelton Benjamin, I expect it to be the best match on the card.

I find it interesting that the Miz’s tights feature a design inspired by Mike Giant’s street art.  Giant famously used an image of Andre the Giant in his “Obey” pieces, effectively taking an icon from the imagery of pro wrestling and representing it in a radically different context.  And now the Miz (or whoever designed his tights) has taken that marriage of imageries from the realm of street art and re-appropriated it back into the context of pro wrestling.  I like it.

It looks like Chris Masters is trying to ride the modest crowd response he got from making his pecs dance into a push.  (Blogger stops typing, hangs head low, removes glasses and grimaces as he pinches the bridge of his nose).   If WWE plans on doing anything at all with Masters, his theme music needs to change.  His current theme sounds like the score over the opening titles of a Cecil B. Demille movie.  Doesn’t really get the pulse pounding… unless your Charlton Heston, and I don’t think I am.

WWF Superstars – December 3, 2009

After a great episode of Impact let’s see if tonight’s Superstars can compare. Tonight’s main event is Matt Hardy v. Dolph Ziggler, and on with the show.

After the opening video, Michael Cole welcomes us to Superstars, ten days from TLC. We go right to the ring for our opening contest.

1. Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes v. Evan Bourne & Primo. Well, we start with Legacy v. Duane Gill & Barry Hardy 2009 edition. Yeah, like E&P have a chance in this match. Primo & Cody start the match, Cody with an arm bar and pulls down Primo. Primo with a headlock to counter, how did Evan Bourne fall this far, this fast. Primo makes the tag to Bourne, Bourne takes a knee to the guy and Cody tags in Ted. Bourne with a hurricanrana followed by a dropkick, Primo tagged in and dropkick to the back of Ted for a one count. Primo whips Ted in the corner and eats a knee, then clothesline to the back of the head. Ted makes a tag, and Legacy double team Primo in the corner. Another quick tag from Ted and Cody in with a side Russian Leg Sweep for a near fall. Cody holds Primo as Ted nails Primo; Ted pounds Primo down and whips him in. Primo flips over and makes a tag to Evan. Evan quickens the pace and Cody low bridges Evan over the top to the floor as we go to commercial. We come back to Ted with a headlock on Bourne; Bourne fights back and gets clotheslined out his boots. Ted slows the pace with a half nelson to hold the quicker man down; Ted tags in Cody who stomps Bourne. Cody drops the knee on the face of Bourne for a near fall, Evan trying to fight back and Cody with a quick go behind to a Bob Backlund classic, Crossface Chicken Wing! Evan forces Cody to buckles and Cody misses the dive, Evan almost makes the tag, but Cody stops that and tags DiBiase in. Cody with a cheap shot as DiBiase distracts the ref, and another neat fall. Legacy working like a well oiled machine here tonight, keeping Bourne and working him down slowly, but Bourne is very resilient. Legacy must’ve tagged at least 15 times here and E&P maybe 3-5 times. Bourne hits a shocking elbow to the jaw, as Primo is begging for a tag and Bourne makes it as Ted makes a tag at the same time. Primo in and taking Cody to task, a great set of dropkicks, cross body and Evan with a beautiful dive on DiBiase, but Cody from behind with Cross Rhodes for the win.  3.75/5 great tag team match, quick paced with some impressive moves from E&P.
2. Hurricane v. Zack Ryder. This should be a good match as Hurricane always deliver and Zack is one my favorites. Zack comes out with Rosa who looks great in her little black dress; Rosa is rapidly becoming one of my favorites, as long as she doesn’t wrestle. Hurricane backed in the corner and Zack with a clean break, along with a WWW! Hurricane with a headlock, Zack pushes him to corner and Hurricane moves. Hurricane with an arm drag, Zack knees Hurricane in the stomach and hits a vertical Suplex, but misses the elbow. Hurricane with the big leg drop and back to the damn headlock. Zack hits a Ruff Ryder out of the corner and now stomps a mud hole in the Hurricane. The Hurricane being downgraded to a tropical storm, or maybe a depression! Rosa looks on happy with her man’s efforts, and looks good doing it. Hurricane tries to fight back and to no avail, Zack misses the bulldog and gets clotheslined. Hurricane with a Thesz press on the Long Island native. Zack caught coming in and Hurricane with a running clothesline.  Hurricane gets caught up top and Ryder goes for a superplex, Hurricane pushes him off and hits the cross body. Hurricane follows that up with a shining wizard which knocks Ryder out of the ring. Out of nowhere comes a masked man who jackhammers the Emerald Super Hero. Gee I wonder who that is. Is Dusty booking again, as we got a new Yellow Dog? Shades of Pillman v. Windham from 91 and Rhodes v. Windham. Hurricane wins via disqualification, 3/5 would’ve been higher had we had a clean ending and less headlocks.
3. Matt Hardy v. Dolph Ziggler. Well it’s the former golden boy, Ziggler, boy he fell fast too, thanks to Rey Mysterio. Hardy starts with the arm bar and gets back to the corner, Ziggler takes a cheap shot over the shoulder of the ref and then slides out of the ring. Ziggler tries to come back in and Matt goes for the Suplex back in, Ziggler counters and pounds on Hardy. Matt hits a big clothesline over the top rope, taking out Ziggler and then a baseball slide as Dolph bounces off the barrier. Matt pounds Ziggler’s head in the ring apron and rolls him back in. Matt drops an elbow from the second rope and readies for a twist of fate. Ziggler wisely slides away and hides in the corner; Matt catches Dolph and sit out power bombs Ziggler from the corner. Dolph rolls out as we go to commercial, we come back and Dolph has Matt in a headlock. Matt caught coming in the corner, but catches Dolph on the top rope. Matt tries for the superplex, Dolph fights off and gets to the apron then sweeps Matt’s legs out from under him for a near fall. Dolph chokes Matt on the ropes; Matt tries to make the comeback and gets rushed into the corner by Ziggler. Ziggler risks disqualification pounding Matt in the corner, Matt slammed hard and the Dolph drops five big elbows on Hardy. Dolph continues the offense by locking in a body scissor and headlock as the crowd chants for Hardy. Matt fights out and now they slug it out. Matt hits a pair of clotheslines and then a neck breaker for a near fall. Matt goes to the second turnbuckle for the elbow drop and gets caught with a big boot. This was another very good episode of Superstars tonight, not a bad match in the bunch. These supposed C and D shows are so much better then RAW. Looking forward to watching Smackdown, Diva-Dirt is giving the episode rave reviews. That’ll be posted up probably tomorrow. Oh, and for I what I said at the start about this comparing to Impact, I think this week’s Superstars was almost as good as Impact.

On an unrelated note, I heard that former WWE star Umaga suffered a massive heart attack Thursday night. I always liked the Umaga character and I hope he gets better soon. I would love to see Umaga in WWE or TNA one day.

Simplemente por eso porque nosotros entendemos que una nación no es –meramente el atractivo de la tierra donde nacimos, no es esa emoción directa y sentimental que sentimos todos en la proximidad de nuestro terruño, sino, que una nación es una unidad en lo universal, es el grado a que se remonta un pueblo cuando cumple un destino universal en la Historia. Numerose realtà sociali tra cooperative e associazioni di volontariato radicate sul territorio cosentino, al termine di un incontro svoltosi a Rende, hanno deciso di chiedere un incontro con la Regione per un ‘confronto sulle borse lavoro destinate ai disabili psico-fisici’.

Si chiede al Dipartimento 10 della Regione Calabria (lavoro, politiche della famiglia, formazione professionale, cooperazione e volontariato) l’immediata consultazione e il coinvolgimento delle organizzazioni di volontariato che operano sulle problematiche della disabilità e della tutela dei diritti e della cittadinanza attiva.

Le associazioni di volontariato chiedono inoltre di ‘rivedere l’articolazione interna dell’avviso in cui è evidente una marginalizzazione degli interventi sociali a favore di quelli sanitari, un’esclusione delle famiglie e dei soggetti beneficiari delle work-experience dai processi di scelta e decisionali, l’assenza di interventi formativi, la carente definizione della necessità di avere un progetto condiviso per ciascun beneficiario.

È necessario che le attività laboratoriali vengano svolte fuori dai contesti di cura e che la scelta delle aziende sia fatta esclusivamente in funzione delle condizioni di salute del beneficiario che deve essere coinvolto nelle scelte che lo riguardano, secondo una cultura che ormai permea la legislazione italiana da oltre un decennio.

ASPEN (Stati Uniti) – Primo podio in carriera a soli 19 anni per l’azzurra Federica Brignone, terza nel gigante di coppa del mondo di Aspen.

LA GARA DI FEDERICA – Figlia di Daniele e di Ninna Quario, ex valanga Rosa ed ora giornalista dello sci, Federica era partita con il pettorale 34 e nella prima manche a sorpresa aveva chiuso all’ottavo posto, migliore azzurra.

Nella prova valida per la Coppa del Mondo di sci alpino, Cuche ha preceduto tutti con il tempo di 1′50«31, staccando Heel di 44 centesimi.

Primo (Eddie Colón), dice sentirse muy “frustrado” con su posición en WWE, según señala PWI. El hijo del histórico Carlos Colón, siente haber logrado poco desde que rompió la pareja que formaba con su hermano Carlito, sólo trabaja en dark matches (encuentros no televisados) y ha sido dejado fuera en los Monday Nights RAW.

A  Primo le encanta la lucha libre, más que su hermano (Se dice que el mismo Carlito lo ha reconocido), así que este debe ser un momento difícil para él. Por su parte Carlito, la superestrella del Caribe, no ha sido visto en semanas, y su estatus con la empresa sigue siendo un misterio. Por ahora su perfil se encuentra activo en la página web de WWE

Good morning! When I was little, I loved to play with clay. My mother would make me and my brother some home-made clay (don’t even ask me what it was made of) and let us play with it on the kitchen table.

I would squish  it through my fingers and make whatever came to mind. Me being the silly girl that i was, would divide it into small pieces, roll it, and shape it to cover my fingernails! I remember getting yelled at when I used my mom’s fingernail polish to paint them!
Anyhow, once discovered jewelry making I rediscovered my love of sculpting with clay!

Polymer clay is not clay. However, it is a Polymer Polyvinyl Chloride which is moldable. This is an amazing medium as you can sculpt the clay into any shape you like, bake it in the oven according to the instructions, and you have a hot little peice of art!

 I began making small beads with polymer clay with a bead roller. This is a great little contraption used to make uniform beads in three shapes; round, bicone, and oval. Once I became comfortable enough, I began hand-rolling my beads.

Polymer Clay comes  in a variety of colors, including metallics. I think the best value is the multi packs which you can get at any Walmart ranging from $9.00- to $30.00. Of course, the more blocks of clay contained in the package, the more it costs. I love to take two to three colors and perform what is known as “marbling”. I also buy a block of the plain white clay, as you can make your beads, then paint the finished product, or mix it with the other colors.

When I first started to research making jewelry with Polymer Clay, I wasn’t sure which brand to use. There are many, but I think the most popular are Kato, Sculpey, Primo, and Femo.
Most crafters like Premo,Kato, and Fimo because they are not as soft as Sculpey, but I like working with Scupey III, which is a bit firmer than the original Sculpey.

When I make a set of chunky beads, I like using Sculpey Light. It is very lightweight, and won’t add weight to the beads, which you can then hand paint with an acrylic based paint.

Here are a couple of examples of the amazing things I have done with my Polymer Clay….

These beads are an example of “marbling”. I mixed powder blue Sculpey III with silver metallic, and dark green. I combined pieces of all three and mixed them until they were intergrated. Be very careful when doing this, unless you want the colors completely mixed to make one other color. I then used unmarked latex gloves to roll the beads into a large oval pillow. I then pierced the beads through the middle very gently as not to disturb their shape with a metal skewer, and suspended them on a bead backing rack which I bought at Michael’s craft store. After about fifteen minutes at 215 degrees, the beads were placed in ice water to set their shape. Be careful, the clay and metal are very hot. (I would also recommend using a dedicated toaster oven for baking the clay, and anyting else you use that comes in contact with Polymer Clay should not come in contact with food!)

After the beads wer cooled, I used my  Dremel Pro to sand and buff the beads. Sanding and buffing give them a smooth surface, but be careful because if you sand them too much you will wear grooves in them. You could also use sandpaper, but that takes too long!

After the beads are sanded and buffed, I place them on wooden skewers, dip the beads in a floor wax with acrylic, and stick the skewer in a block of styrofoam to dry. If the weather is good, and there’s no rain in the forecast, I will let them sit outside. If they get wet at this point, they will develop an opaque film on their surface. I usually dip mine a minimum of ten times, which can take an entire day, but the end result is absolutely stunning.

I also made this out of red SculpeyIII. ”Goddess” is basically modeled after myself when I was pregnant.   It took about a week to get the proportions just the way I wanted,  and countless dippings in the floor wax.  I used all purpose sand paper to sand in between and under the breasts, and between the legs.  This particular pendant is pierced across the top where the shoulders are, and I attached a piece of 20 gauge silver wire, wrapped loops on both ends and attached it to a length of silver chain to wear as a necklace.

This is my absolute favorite pendant to make.  This is one of those instances where I used the regular white Sclupey to make the base of the pendant.  I then rolled out the brownish-orange color and laid it over the base, carving it on the back of the pendant which is white.  I then rolled out a thin sheet of black clay, and used an xacto knife to cut out the stripes, which I then placed on the orange surface.  I also attached a loop on the top to make a bail, and baked it on a stone tile in the oven.  Here is the finished product.

Como el otro día nos contaron la triste historia de Floro, el loro de nuestros vecinos hoy os voy a contar yo la anécdota que le pasó a mi primo.

Los vecinos de mi primo tenían un loro espectacular, el más bonito que he visto nunca, hablaba, cantaba y a diferencia de muchos loros era muy simpático! Mi primo, sin embargo, tenía un perro como mascota, del que también os puedo decir que era muy simpático, tanto que le encantaba saltarse la valla del jardín e ir a saludar a los vecinos. Como mi primo y sus vecinos tenían muy buena relación cuando alguno de ellos se ivan de viaje el otro se quedaba con las llaves por si sucedía algún problema. En uno de estos viajes de los vecinos, cuando mi primo estaba tranquilamente sentado en el jardín vió aparecer a su perrito con el maravilloso loro de los vecinos en la boca, como os podéis imaginar muerto y todo lleno de babas y barro. Mi primo se quería morir!!! si sus vecinos se enteraban de que su perro había matado al loro se acabaría la maravillosa relación que tenían además de llevarse un disgusto enorme. Tras un rato y una buena regañina al perro se le ocurrió una maravillosa idea “Si lavo al loro, lo dejo impecable y lo vuelvo a meter en su jaula nadie se dará cuenta de que Pancho a sido el asesino”. Pues se puso manos a la obra!! Lavo al loro con esmero hasta dejarlo reluciente, paso a casa de los vecinos y lo volvió a meter en la jaula, pobrecito!!

Cuando sus vecinos volvieron de vacaciones se escucharon gritos y de repente fueron a llamar insistentemente a la puerta de mi primo. Era el vecino, como os podéis imaginar, y pedía que por favor llamaran a una ambulancia. Mi primo pensó, “Jo, si que le ha afectado lo del loro…” y para disimular preguntó “¿¿pero que ha pasado??” y el pobre vecino respondió “Pues que el otro día se nos murió el loro, lo enterramos en el jardín y ahora cuando hemos llegado de las vacaciones nos hemos encontrado el loro reluciente y en la jaula y mi mujer se ha desmayado”

Mi primo nuevamente se quería morir!! Fijaros la que había montado!!! Encima todos pensábamos que el pobre Pancho era un asesino…

Os tengo que contar que al final la vecina estaba bien, solo fue el susto y que mi primo echó coraje y les confesó lo ocurrido, por lo que al final la historia quedó en una anécdota que siempre recuerdan y con la que todos nos reímos de vez en cuando.

Ok so I have no idea if this has any resemblance to Hawaiian food but it tastes amazing, think spicy chicken with an almost buttery texture. I have to confess this not entirely of my own creation, more of a google amalgamation of all the attempts of Hawaiian recipes on the net. Works with boned meat or breast and is perfect for barbecues. The key to the salsa is to use dried chili not fresh, which have a tendency to over powering everything else.

INGREDIENTS:

The Chicken:

1. Throw every thing but the chicken into a food processor and blend into a thick paste, add a little of the pineapple juice from the tin if needed but make sure to save at least half for the salsa.
2. Chop the chicken up into what ever size you prefer. I usually cut it into strips or large chunks to make kebabs.
3. Place the chicken in a bowl, pour over the sauce, mix well and place in the fridge for at least a couple of hours to marinade, preferably over night.
4. Pre-heat the grill to 220C and layout the chicken pieces on a large grill pan. Grill for approx 12 -15 minutes, slightly less on a barbecue, turning occasionally until golden brown all over.

The Salsa

1. Combine the sweet chili sauce, pineapple juice and lime juice in a bowl and mix to an even consistency.
2. Add the dried chillies.
3. Dice the mango, cucumber and red pepper and stir into the sauce.
4. roughly chop the mint and coriander, stir into the sauce and bingo, fresh spicy salsa!

Dopo lo spoglio di circa il 74% dei seggi, l’Ufficio Elettorale Centrale ha annunciato che Basescu, politico di centro, ha circa il 33% dei consensi contro il 30% circa del principale rivale Mircea Geoana, esponente della sinistra.

Senza la rapida formazione di un nuovo esecutivo e una rinnovata spinta alla modernizzazione, la Romania infatti potrebbe non riuscire ad agganciare l’uscita dalla recessione e resterebbe fanalino di coda dietro ad altri paesi ex comunisti che sono entrati nella Ue.

Il voto che doveva svolgersi ieri mentre in Italia era notte fonda, aveva natura procedurale, ma era importante per capire l’atteggiamento dei senatori, soprattutto conoscendo lo scetticismo che mostrano verso il disegno di legge alcuni rappresentanti della stessa maggioranza democratica.I senatori erano chiamati a decidere se autorizzare formalmente lo svolgimento del dibattito parlamentare sulle oltre 2000 pagine del testo di riforma.

C’era quindi molta attesa ieri per vedere quale posizione avrebbero preso tre democratici moderati, anche se nelle ultime ore sembrava fossero convinti a sostenere l’avvio del dibattito, riservandosi poi di esprimere le proprie riserve in aula sul contenuto dei provvedimenti.

Uno di loro, il senatore del Nebraska Ben Nelson, lo aveva preannunciato esplicitamente, anche se altrettanto chiaramente aveva affermato che secondo lui il testo della riforma così come è non va, e dovrà essere modificato.

I ministri degli esteri della Nato si riuniranno a Bruxelles il 3 dicembre, e l’annuncio di Obama, atteso subito prima, verrebbe seguito da una dichiarazione del segretario generale dell’Alleanza Atlantica Anders Fogh Rasmussen.Nella notte il voto del Senato americano per aprire il dibattito sulla riforma sanitaria voluta dal presidente Obama.

Giusto per dare un senso all’ultimo post vi riporto un articolo che avevo pubblicato “altrove”…

Non fatevi strane idee.

Lunedì si è tenuta la seconda assemblea di classe del Principino. Tema del giorno le elezioni dei rappresentanti di classe di ogni singola sezione, fare il punto della situazione ad un mese dall’avvio dell’anno scolastico e poi i colloqui privati per i genitori dei bambini al primo anno.

Matteo, pur essendo al suo secondo anno di materna, è, di fatto, nuovo in quell’istituto e in quella classe ed è per questo che le maestre hanno ritenuto, giustamente, di parlarci direttamente per conoscerci meglio e per verificare insieme come vanno le cose.

Quando abbiamo cominciato la riunione generale ho dato uno sguardo in giro e purtroppo ho constatato l’assenza di più della metà dei genitori. Possibile, mi chiedo io, che una mamma o un babbo (non dico entrambi come noi che forse siamo dei privilegiati ad avere così tanto tempo libero e dei nonni vicini e disponibili) non abbiano trovato un’ora un qualunque lunedì per andare alla scuola del proprio figlio/a a sentire come vanno le cose, se ci sono dei problemi o comunque ad eleggere colui o colei che poi per tutto l’anno sarà il ponte fra la scuola e loro?

Io penso che davvero pochi degli assenti avranno avuto delle valide giustificazioni, degli impedimenti davvero degni di questo nome. Per il resto, e questa è una mia personalissima opinione, credo che molti se ne siano semplicemente fregati. Hanno ritenuto con superficialità che fosse una cosa di cui se ne poteva fare a meno e questo è sintomatico. Sintomatico del fatto che la scuola dell’infanzia venga vista, nonostante l’importanza che ha per la delicata età che hanno i bambini che la frequentano, come una specie di semplice “parcheggio“, un luogo dove i nostri figli vengono “abbandonati” rispetto alle nostre cure per 8 ore al giorno, 5 giorni su 7.

E invece non è così. Non ho le competenze per parlare dell’importanza della scuola dell’infanzia, per parlare di psicologia infantile, di autostima e quant’altro ma sicuramente so che quel luogo e quelle persone dove mio figlio passa  molto, moltissimo tempo non possono essere viste solo così. A loro è affidato un compito importante e delicato e la scelta della scuola dovrebbe essere un passaggio ben ponderato.

Ovviamente partendo da un presupposto così le riunioni e le altre incombenze scolastiche diventano inutili o quasi; il ragionamento è questo: se succede qualcosa di grave me lo faranno sapere altrimenti vuol dire che va tutto bene e avanti così fino all’estate prossima (quando, aggiungo io, il parcheggio chiude e ahiloro bisogna pensare tutto il giorno ai pargoli…).

Comunque, tornando alla riunione, la situazione che è emersa non è confortante. La classe del Principino è purtroppo l’unica fortemente mista: nel plesso ci sono 4 sezioni, di cui 2 omogenee, (bambini della stessa età), 2 disomogenee, di cui una con bambini di 4 e 5 anni e quella del Principino dove su 24 bambini ce ne sono circa la metà sui 4 anni, 5 di 5 anni e il resto di anni 3. Questa eterogeneità è fonte di problemi perchè ovviamente le attività dovrebbero essere diversificate ma vista la scarsa (o scarsissima) compresenza delle due insegnanti questo è pressochè impossibile. Se poi ci mettiamo anche il fatto che su 24 bambini 13 sono di nazionalità estera e che molti di questi parlano poco o niente l’Italiano si comprende quali difficoltà incontrino le maestre nell’affrontare o meglio nel tentare di svolgere qualsivoglia attività. Perchè il punto dolente è questo: le attività messe in programma non sono ancora partite per diversi problemi tra cui quelli sopra elencati e non ultimo il fatto che l’intera classe sembra refrattaria a seguire delle regole… anzi le regole.

Intendo quelle basilari, del tipo: si mangia stando seduti, si inizia un’attività tutti insieme e la si finisce, si rimettono i giochi a posto, si ascolta la maestra… insomma regole semplici eppure sembra di difficile applicazione, sembra che tutti i loro sforzi siano concentrati sul farsi “rispettare” e sul cercare di tenere i bambini concentrati almeno un minimo su un’attività alla volta. Spero che le cose cambino in fretta perchè vorrei che il Principino iniziasse ad imparare qualcosa e soprattutto a divertirsi nell’andare a scuola… vedremo…

Come dicevo l’occasione era anche quella di eleggere il rappresentante di classe. La simpatica ragazza dell’anno prima ha declinato l’invito ad essere rieletta per sopraggiunti motivi di lavoro e così nella classe è piombato il classico “gelo” con la gente che si guardava i piedi, o fuori o che fischiettava. Insomma nessuno si è fatto avanti ed io che invece smaniavo già dall’anno scorso di essere finalmente parte attiva nel percorso scolastico del Principino alla fine ho guardato Santa S. negli occhi e dopo aver avuto la sua benedizione mi sono candidato.

Ovviamente non essendoci alternative sono stato eletto con scrutinio super segreto e super veloce.

Adesso spero davvero di fare qualcosa di concreto partendo, innanzitutto, dal coinvolgere maggiormente tutti i genitori  specialmente quelli dei bambini stranieri che non devono essere dei fantasmi ma attivi partecipanti della vita della scuola per integrarsi maggiormente, come fanno i loro figli frequentandola. Non mi illudo di cambiare chissà che cosa ma alla fine la scuola, la classe non è nient’altro che una piccola comunità, dove ognuno di noi può dare il suo prezioso contributo.

Aun recuerdo a aquellos de la Falange Española Auténtica, la FEA, cuando gritaban en sus pegatinas que se sacara a José Antonio de la “carcel del Valle de los Caídos”. Esos mismos de la FEA que acudían a las manifas de la Izquierda en pleno Franquismo, bandera republicana en mano, que luego eran recibidos a puñetazos por esa misma Izquierda del talante y que luego debían ser rescatados por los chavales de FEJONS o de FN para que no les mataran allí mismo los discípulos de Pablo Iglesias y la Pasionaria. Y es que los frikis no nacieron ayer.

Yo también he sido siempre partidario de sacar de allí a José Antonio. No porque estuviera al lado del cadáver de un general que echó a patadas a los comunistas de España, lo cual es algo loable, sino porque José Antonio no se merece estar en una basílica del Siglo XX. Lo que José Antonio se merece es volver de nuevo al Altar Mayor del Monasterio del Escorial, quedando sus restos por encima de todos los de tantos Borbones, cuyos huesos deberíamos haber esparcido por los campos de España hace siglos en un arrebato de ardor patriótico e higiene política. El mejor de nuestros poetas guerreros merece descansar en el ultimo reducto del Honor de España, por encima de reyes y emperadores, a las faldas del Monte Abantos, donde nuestros antepasados celtíberos adoraban a sus dioses y donde enterraban a los caídos en combate.

No, no queremos la compañía de unos curas cobardes que dan la espalda a los que hace 70 años les salvaron el pellejo, cuando los socialistas y comunistas les perseguían por los tejados. Tampoco queremos que nuestro poeta guerrero sea agasajado por niñatos pijos derechistas, que contaminan ese santo lugar con su imbecilidad y que eso le haga removerse en su tumba. Y desde luego no queremos que nuestro Capitán repose en un lugar antaño conocido como Valle de los Caídos y que hoy aparece en las guías turísticas como “Basílica de la Santa Cruz del Valle”…

Le forze collocate all’opposizione del Governo Berlusconi devono compiere ogni sforzo per realizzare, sia pure nella diversità di ispirazione, una forte convergenza su una piattaforma programmatica che assuma il Mezzogiorno come risorsa per l’intero Paese e per avviare l’apertura di una nuova fase espansiva dell’economia nazionale’.

Secondo Guccione, ‘l’Udc, che nel Mezzogiorno ed in Calabria ha un forte radicamento e che nel Parlamento e nel Paese ha trovato molteplici motivi di convergenza con le nostre impostazioni, è una forza importante, con la quale intendiamo continuare a dialogare per costruire una forte alleanza e per aprire nuove prospettive nelle quali il Mezzogiorno e la nostra regione possano trovare le risposte giuste per costruire un futuro di crescita e di rinnovamento’.

Hoy nos encontramos a 73 años del asesinato de José Antonio Primo de Rivera por parte del Estado Republicano de 1936. Pero no voy a utilizar su figura ni sus ideas para ir en contra de la chusma que en su día formó el Frente Popular. Y todo ello porque la muerte física de José Antonio no es lo más importante. Todos hemos de morir más pronto o más tarde. La peor muerte que puede tenerse es que maten las ideas y eso es lo que hicieron el 20 de Noviembre de 1.936 y desde esa fatídica noche hasta nuestros días, los unos y los otros. Porque si bien fueron unos los que dispararon, fueron otros los que suspiraron aliviados en el otro bando durante cuarenta años. Que a estas alturas los francófilos pretendan convencernos de que el Régimen Franquista con sus banqueros, sus terratenientes y sus curas era un régimen nacional y sindical, es una prueba más de hasta que punto aquel régimen manipuló hasta la nausea la figura del revolucionario español, para convertirla en la estampita del santo que todos besan y babean pero que ninguno imita. Y no, no voy a hacer un enjuiciamiento del régimen anterior, porque cualquier comparación con el régimen actual seria un insulto a la inteligencia. No es que echemos ya de menos a Felipe González, es que ya echamos de menos hasta a Fernando VII, el Rey Felón. Tal es el estado actual de descomposición nacional en el que nos encontramos.

No es casualidad que aquel mismo 20 de Noviembre, otro revolucionario cayera asesinado por la espalda y por las mismas balas rojas, curiosamente cuando pocos días antes había defendido la excarcelación de José Antonio y había arremetido duramente contra el PCE y la Rusia de Stalin. Me estoy refiriendo a Buenaventura Durruti, líder de la CNT-FAI. Tampoco es casualidad que José Antonio recibiera apoyos de otros significativos anarquistas como Diego Abad de Santillán o que su figura haya sido elogiada hace pocos años por políticos tan dispares como Julio Anguita o Jordi Pujol, o intelectuales como Madariaga, Rosa Chacel, Aranguren, Celaya o Sánchez Dragó.

Alguna vez he dicho ya en este blog que José Antonio era la mente más preclara de la Europa de su época. Tal es así que no dudó en otorgar el carnet Nº 1 de la Falange Exterior a León Degrelle, el mismo que años después buscaría cobijo de sus enemigos escondido junto a su tumba del Valle de los Caídos. Y es que nadie como él supo adelantarse a los acontecimientos venideros. Incluso ya lamentaba la utilización fraudulenta que la Derecha haría de su Falange y de la España mediocre que crearía. Y nadie como él supo unir lo nacional y lo revolucionario, la tradición y la espiritualidad como normas para no caer en una modernidad liquidacionista de nuestra Historia y Cultura. Por eso mismo José Antonio sigue siendo peligroso hoy en día y por eso sigue ausente de la inmensa mayoría de las bibliotecas de la Universidad Española. Porque leer hoy a José Antonio sigue siendo un bello ejercicio de sana literatura antisistema. Quizá hoy José Antonio fuera mucho más crítico con la Iglesia Católica, precisamente por haber dejado de ser Iglesia y Católica para doblegarse ante las élites finacieras lideradas por el Sionismo y la Masonería. Quizá no opinara igual sobre el “mestizaje fecundo”, si viera hoy como la raza blanca europea es diezmada sistemáticamente y sustituida por población extranjera y dócil por esas misma élites que antes mencionaba y posiblemente hoy levantara también con el mismo ardor la bandera rojinegra de la Revolución junto a la bandera de Castilla. Esa Castilla absoluta que él amaba, que nunca supo ser región sino Imperio y que hoy permanece postrada y ultrajada a los piés de los separatistas y los separadores y sin la cual es imposible la existencia de esa España guerrera e indomable que anhelamos.

No sabemos que nos diría hoy José Antonio, pero creo que sí sabemos lo que no nos diría. No nos pediría tolerancia porque vivimos en una España y una Europa absolutamente intolerables, donde nuestras identidades y nuestra raza son sistemáticamente perseguidas. No nos hablaría del voto útil, sino más bien nos animaría a romper todas las urnas de esta Democracia corrupta y luchar arma al brazo por las calles de España contra el Capital y sus políticos de un color y de otro. No nos animaría a buscarle entre los mediocres que se visten de azul y guantes negros cada 20N o entre EX-combatientes que no han sabido o no han querido pasar el arma del relevo a las jóvenes generaciones. Y desde luego, de seguro volvería a recordarnos más que nunca, que la vida no merece la pena vivirse si no es para quemarla en el servicio a una empresa grande y que hoy esa empresa se llama para nosotros Castilla, España y Europa.
