marruecos ha vivido durante 35 años dilatando un proceso para seguir haciendo lo que saben: robar las riquezas del Sáhara Occidental y practicando un lento y más o menos silencioso genocidio sobre el Pueblo Saharaui. Pese a cientos de resoluciones en favor de la autodeterminación del Pueblo Saharaui y a pesar de muchas conversaciones de paz, marruecos siempre ha querido dormir el proceso para ganar tiempo y poder seguir robando y matando.

Desde hace algo más de un mes, el régimen marroquí ha vuelto a la línea dura. Siete activistas esperan un juicio militar en marruecos por haber viajado a Tindouf (si marruecos es la democracia que dice, debería dejar a sus “ciudadanos” viajar donde quieran, no?) y se especula si el régimen marroquí pedirá la pena de muerte para ellos. Hace dos semanas empezamos a vivir el circo que España y marruecos han montado con la expulsión de Aminetu Haidar del Sáhara Occidental.

Lo que marruecos venía haciendo hasta ahora pasa a hacerlo de una forma menos discreta, lo que le vuelve a poner en la picota en cuanto al poco respeto a los Derechos Humanos. El tema del Sáhara Occidental, la ocupación, los Derechos Humanos y el Genocidio Saharaui vuelven a estar, muchos años después en todas las portadas, en todos los medios de comunicación y en todos los informativos. Eso es lo que marruecos y los que le siguen el juego evitaron durante muchos años. Ahora el tiro les ha salido por la culata. Sin duda, mohamed6, más preocupado por sus aficiones deportivas, se ha equivocado.

Gracias a esa desgraciada maniobra de marruecos, no sólo la noticia vuelve a estar en todas las portadas, sino que el tema vuelve a ser tema de conversación y el conflicto del Sáhara vuelve a ser recordado por toda una sociedad avergonzada por su historia. Uno de los grandes peligros de la causa saharaui, el olvido, se ha superado gracias a la patética maniobra del régimen marroquí.

La sociedad española está mayoritariamente con el Pueblo Saharaui. Si cabía alguna duda, esta semana la hemos superado. Llevo algunos años en esto, apoyando desde aquí y en los Campamentos Saharauis al Pueblo Saharaui pero jamás desde que empecé he visto tantas iniciativas, tantos comentarios ni tanta solidaridad con nuestros hermanos saharauis, ahora a través del apoyo hacia Aminetu Haidar. Nunca había visto tal movilización de manifestaciones, comunicados, concentraciones, conciertos, ni declaraciones oficiales. Nunca había visto tantos personajes del mundo de la cultura y la música unidos a la vez por el Pueblo Saharaui.

España, que gobierno tras gobierno le ha seguido el juego, ha puesto el problema encima de la mesa. Por seguir el juego sucio a marruecos ahora España y su patético gobierno están en el punto de vista de todo el mundo. Aminetu Haidar está secuestrada por un gobierno que se cree democrático. Y si alguien se pensaba que esto era una partida de cartas entre marruecos, España y el Sáhara Occidental, ahora ve que otros actores como Estados Unidos están interviniendo para que esta vergonzosa situación acabe y acabe bien. El gobierno español tiene la patata caliente en su tejado y le puede salir muy caro. Que rece el Sr Moratinos porque Aminetu no muera en España. Si eso pasa, la que le está cayendo será una simpática crítica en comparación con la que le caerá. 

A muchos no se nos va a olvidar el papel del gobierno de Zapatero en todo esto. Y aquí, a diferencia de marruecos, vamos cada cuatro años a votar (quiero decir sin un sultán que elija luego el gobierno a dedo). Zapatero y Moratinos deben de haber olvidado que los que les votamos somos los españoles y a quien tienen que complacer es a los españoles, no a los marroquíes. Y la mayoría de españoles tenemos muy claro quien queremos que gane este partido.

MADRID — La salud de la militante saharaui Aminatou Haidar, en huelga de hambre desde hace 12 días en la isla canaria de Lanzarote para reclamar su regreso al Sáhara Occidental, “se ha deteriorado”, informaron este viernes fuentes cercanas a ella.

“Después de 12 días de huelga de hambre, la situación de Aminatou Hiadar es de un deterioro de su estado de salud por varias enfermedades que ella tiene, en particular una úlcera al estómago”, explicó José Morales, líder sindical canario y portavoz de Haidar.

Además de no ingerir alimentos, Haidar dejó de tomar el jueves la medicación contra esta úlcera, precisó Morales por teléfono. El portavoz reclamó al Gobierno español que “intensifique sus gestiones para presionar sobre Marruecos” y que este país deje regresar a Haidar a El Aaiún, capital del Sáhara Occidental.

Haidar, militante cercana al Frente Polisario, que defiende la independencia del Sáhara Occidental de Marruecos, ha recibido en los últimos días varios apoyos, como el del Premio Nobel de la Paz 1996, el presidente de Timor Oriental, José Manuel Ramos-Horta, que este viernes le telefoneó, y el del actor español Javier Bardem.

Por su parte, Estados Unidos expresó el jueves su preocupación por la salud de Haidar, premio Robert F. Kennedy de derechos humanos en 2008 y en 2009 premio de la Fundación Train.

La militante iba a recibir este viernes a representantes del Centro Robert F. Kennedy por la justicia y los derechos humanos en el aeropuerto de Lanzarote, donde permanece desde que fue expulsada de Marruecos.

Haidar, que rechazó una oferta del Gobierno español de concederle el estatus de refugiada política, llegó a Lanzarote el 14 de noviembre.

El Gobierno español hace “todo lo posible” para que “pueda viajar lo antes posible” a su país, aseguró este viernes la vicepresidenta del Gobierno español María Teresa Fernández de la Vega.

Marruecos administra el Sáhara Occidental, ex colonia española, desde 1975.

Rabat propone para este territorio una amplia autonomía, pero el Frente Polisario reclama un referéndum de autodeterminación.

“Nunca pensé que el Gobierno le haría un favor tan sucio a Marruecos”

Desde que el día 14 comenzó su huelga de hambre en el aeropuerto de Lanzarote, el cuerpo de Aminetu Haidar se ha ido doblando como una alcayata. Sin embargo, la debilidad física no ha mermado la determinación de esta activista de los derechos humanos para denunciar su expulsión por Marruecos del Sáhara Occidental y su traslado a España en contra de su voluntad. Haidar ha puesto contra las cuerdas al Gobierno español: contempla la muerte como una alternativa plausible a su vuelta a El Aaiún. Ayer, la vicepresidenta María Teresa Fernández de la Vega le pidió “desde el afecto y la comprensión” que “reconsidere su posición”.

Pregunta. ¿Cómo decidió iniciar esta huelga de hambre?

Respuesta. Desde el primer momento observé que había una complicidad de los Gobiernos español y marroquí, y que mi traslado a España era un tema político. El Gobierno español tiene que rectificar esta violación flagrante de los derechos humanos, de la ley española y de los convenios internacionales. Soy una militante de los derechos humanos pacífica y sólo puedo protestar por métodos pacíficos y el más fuerte que tengo es la huelga de hambre.

P. Usted padece graves secuelas físicas de los años que pasó en las cárceles marroquíes y de otras huelgas de hambre. ¿No tiene miedo de que esta protesta la lleve a una situación irreversible?

R. Sí, tengo muchos problemas de salud, pero debo sacrificarme por un derecho individual: el regreso al Sáhara Occidental.

P. Al iniciar la huelga de hambre, ¿esperaba que España la devolviera al Sáhara rápidamente?

R. Para mí, hoy el Gobierno español y el Gobierno marroquí son iguales. Nunca pensé que el Gobierno español podría jugar este papel tan sucio, hacerle un favor como éste a Marruecos. No me extraña que Marruecos viole los derechos humanos, pero que el Gobierno español, un país democrático, viole de forma tan clara y con complicidad el derecho internacional, los pactos y los convenios internacionales, nunca lo había pensado. No tengo confianza en el Gobierno español.

P. ¿Por qué está tan segura de que Marruecos y España acordaron su traslado a Canarias?

R. El piloto del avión español que me trajo desde El Aaiún a Lanzarote recibió una orden por teléfono para embarcarme sin pasaporte y en contra de mi voluntad. Ya aquí, varios policías subieron al aparato para convencerme de que desembarcara, diciendo que podía entrar en España sin pasaporte. Ni me pidieron el documento de residencia. Pero, una vez en tierra, cuando intenté viajar a El Aaiún esa misma tarde, me dijeron que no podía hacerlo, porque no tenía pasaporte. Respondí que entonces no saldría de la zona internacional de tránsito. Vino otro policía y me prometió que esa tarde podría regresar en el vuelo que salía para El Aaiún. En cuanto logró que abandonara la zona internacional, me dijo que había recibido órdenes de no dejarme salir de España. Por todo esto yo tengo la convicción de que ha habido una complicidad entre España y Marruecos.

P. ¿Qué pide a España?

R. Es posible que el Gobierno español no me conociera y no esperara mi respuesta ni su repercusión. Se ha equivocado. Ahora está en una situación delicada y debe buscar una salida que no sea el asilo político, sino devolverme al Sáhara Occidental. Tiene que buscar una solución con Marruecos.

P. Miguel Ángel Moratinos dice que debe usted elegir entre pedir un nuevo pasaporte marroquí o aceptar el estatuto de refugiado.

R. Doy las gracias al ministro de Asuntos Exteriores por esta oferta, pero nunca la aceptaré. Yo tengo mi patria, que es el Sáhara Occidental, a pesar de que está ocupada ilegalmente por Marruecos. Allí está mi lucha. Además, esa propuesta del Gobierno español me produce indignación, porque después de 34 años niega la existencia del pueblo saharaui, niega la patria que es el Sáhara Occidental. España, más que ningún otro país, conoce la situación jurídica del Sáhara Occidental.

P. ¿Y en cuanto a solicitar un nuevo pasaporte marroquí?

R. Esa oferta tiene que hacerla Marruecos. Yo no voy a solicitar un pasaporte nuevo, porque tengo el mío en vigor. Pedir otro iría contra la ley marroquí. Ninguna persona puede tener dos pasaportes. Mi pasaporte está confiscado por Marruecos de forma ilegal, su número es R559514 y caduca el 2 de mayo de 2010, y tengo derecho a prorrogarlo otros cinco años y después a renovarlo. La propuesta de solicitar otro es una trampa.

P. El embajador de Marruecos en España, Omar Azziman, ha declarado que usted es miembro del Frente Polisario. ¿Es cierto?

R. No, soy una militante de los derechos humanos que vive en la zona ocupada [del Sáhara Occidental por Marruecos], pero el Polisario es el único representante del pueblo saharaui.

P. Moratinos dijo en el Congreso que ha defendido los derechos de los saharauis “como nadie”.

R. Nunca he visto un hecho concreto de Moratinos a favor de la causa saharaui. Siempre he reprochado al Gobierno español su silencio con el tema de las violaciones de los derechos humanos en el Sáhara Occidental cometidas por Marruecos contra una población civil que, además, está compuesta por españoles o por hijos de españoles.

P. ¿Cree que el trato del Gobierno de Zapatero hacia los saharauis es mejor o peor que el de los Gobiernos españoles anteriores?

R. Sé que el Gobierno español actual ayuda a los refugiados saharauis en Tinduf (Argelia), pero a nivel humanitario. Lo que necesitamos como pueblo es un apoyo político claro. No pedimos que reconozca la independencia del Sáhara, pero sí que respete el derecho fundamental del pueblo saharaui a la autodeterminación y que asuma sus responsabilidades jurídicas e históricas. Este Gobierno es peor que el Gobierno de Aznar.

P. ¿Hasta dónde piensa llegar con esta huelga?

R. Tengo una determinación firme, que el Gobierno marroquí conoce más que el español. O el Gobierno español busca una solución para devolverme a mi país, el Sáhara Occidental, o seguiré hasta la muerte.

P. Usted tiene dos hijos pequeños. ¿Ha pensado en qué sería de ellos si usted muriese?

R. Tengo dos hijos, pero también tengo mi dignidad, que está por encima de mis hijos. Lo que ha sucedido es un ataque a mi dignidad que no puedo aceptar. Entre mis hijos y mi dignidad, prefiero mi dignidad. Ellos vivirán sin madre, pero con dignidad.

Gary McKinnon, Asperger Syndrome, obsession with UFOs, and the wounded pride of Empire

The most recent decision by the Home Secretary to allow the extradition of Gary Mackinnon to the United States is not surprising. The absence of ethical content and responsible moral control in the decisions of the current government, its wholesale capitulation to the demands of the United States that US security concerns give carte blanche for political and military pressures, and that country’s now expedient assertions about the importance of international law, come together against the ironic and morally tragic exposure of US and UK complicity that now forces seasoned diplomats, facing public enquiry, to openly question the legality and legitimacy of the war in Iraq.

I have little to add to the reflections I offered in August. Except this. I am ashamed of the failure of the UK government to protect its own citizen. I am ashamed of the lack of moral courage and legal wisdom on the part of the Home Secretary and the Government which, if they are now over a barrel because of a bad law, were the very Government that drove through its approval. Either way, Gary Mackinnon should not be the one to bear the cost of ill conceived legislation enacted by a supine legislature administered by a domesticated administration.

Gary Mackinnon’s mother asks the right question – if her son’s Asperger’s condition and his current distress, which no one denies, do not constitute a fundamental threat to his well-being such that it compromises his human rights, then what in fact does? “How does a British citizen claim asylum in his own country?” is one of those twisted legal questions that exposes the nonsense of the Home Secretary’s position. Rightly, this country does not send people away if they face a credible theat of serious harm abroad. We have had no medical report published by the Home Office indicating Gary Mackinnon’s health will withstand the trauma of extradition. The impact of edxtradition, trial and sentence on a person with autism whose sense of self and the world is so fundamentally different, is so obviously severe that it would rightly be called inhumane. At which point I want to repeat here my post from August 1, and stand by each word of it.

Awakening suspicion that something is wrong.
Hard to place and hard to ignore anger.
An inner resistance to saying nothing.

1. No one denies that Gary McKinnon hacked into US computerised defence systems.
2. Computer hacking is bad enough. But to compromise high level national security systems is by any standards a matter of serious concern. In most cases it is also a matter of criminal intent and is rightly treated as such by the relevant legal and judicial systems. (Perhaps the vulnerability of such high level computer systems to attack from an amateur UFO researcher in the UK raises questions of incompetence or negligence which are themselves definable as criminal).
3. Extradition is an important legal process of national co-operation and of reciprocal help between nations in ensuring that it isn’t possible for people to escape justice by virtue of living in another country. But for a nation to give up its citizens to another such laws need to be secure, fair, reciprocal and reviewable to avoid anomalies and injustice.
4. National security is the top of the agenda concern for the Unitred States for reasons that are obvious; the 9/11 attack and the determination to secure again the safety of the homeland, and as its inevitable corollary, the widespread hostility to the US and the UK amongst many Muslim countries and communities, many of the radicalised, following the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions by US and UK troops backed by other non Muslim nations.

So for Gary McKinnon to breach the supposedly elaborate security hardware and software of the Pentagon and other defence facilities, with their lauded military standard fail-safe systems, at such a sensitive time, raises questions that are both worrying and embarrassing for the United States and its global reputation. Somebody needs to pay.

Add now to these observations the equally undisputed fact that Gary McKinnon is a person with Asperger syndrome, obsessive about UFOs, and that his patterns of behaviour are classic expressions of a condition that essentially defines his way of relating to the world. Then ask what questions this raises about the legal and moral implications of a decision to extradite him to the United States, to stand trial for actions he does not deny, but which are explained by a pre-existing condition that is by definition related to compulsive behavioural patterns, and when the likeliest outcome is an inevitable and long jail sentence.

And this because the UK has a treaty with the United States intended to ensure co-operation in dealing with serious crime and terrorist threats, but which was intended for people with ambitions to kill, not persons with an autistic spectrum disorder. Add to this that UK Judges, charged with upholding the law, while acknowledging the severe impact of extradition on this man’s mental health, which they themselves admit may be life-threatening, suggest nevertheless it would not be a breach of his human rights to extradite him to the United States. I find it profoundly ironic that Judges appointed to uphold law, including international and human rights law, take at face value “assurances of appropriate care”, on the very same day it is reported that evidence about whether or not the CIA and british Intelligence knew of or were involved, directly or indirectly, in the mistreatment and alleged torture of a British citizen, could not be heard in a UK court, on the direct intervention of Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State. Human rights indeed! I am not reassured by the cynical ambiguity of the term “appropriate care” for someone who has so embarrassed the might of the United States, and whom the US sees as a continuing security threat.

I’m not arguing that Gary McKinnon should not face up to the consequences of what he did. He himself recognises that. But given his condition, there are issues of justice here that are deeper than the desire to put on trial, convict, sentence and make the public power statement that seems to be so important to the US authorities pursuing this extradition. The law is not there to serve the political interests of Empire, as instruments of power at the disposal of the state. Justice fundamentally involves using just laws justly, and for the purposes they were intended. Justice, and therefore moral and legal accountability, takes into consideration a person’s capacities, intentions and ability to recognise how personal acts have social consequences. The proper administration of justice requires the law to take into account the reality of a person’s medical condition and the impact of that condition, in this case autism, on a person’s recognition of boundaries and the overall context of their actions – or why not arrest and try persons with Tourette syndrome for using obscene language in public space? As David Cameron said yesterday, in the application of law, justice is not incompatible with compassion in our ways of dealing with people. That is particularly important in a world where compassion now seems to be massively discounted, and hard edged “justice” understood as legal retribution is considered a high value virtue. Mercy does not undermine law, it enhances its authority, demonstrates its value to the community, and quality assures its expression for the public good.

What I miss in the judgement of the judges, and in the reiterated refusal of the Home Secretary to allow a trial in the UK, is the moral courage to discern more deeply, the mature wisdom to decide more humanely, and thus to raise our respect for the law as that which serves us fairly and well. Under this present Government, for all its hyped up claims about making our country more secure, our own citizens are considerably less safe. In the political and cultural background, can be heard the remorseless grind of the machinery of Empire, armoured and determined that those who threaten it will feel the full force of the law. Even when a particular law is badly framed, inadequately qualified and increasingly recognised as open to political manipulation.

That’s why I’m suffering from

Disquiet. Unease.

As mentioned in previous posts, expression freedom in North Korea is limited.  With that in mind, one can venture a guess as to how much “freedom” there is in freedom of the press.

The government controls all media.  News reports on TV and on newspapers are all run by the state.  Consequently, out of 175 countries, North Korea ranks second to last on the 2009 World Press Freedom Index.

North Korean defectors have said that they heard and read the same news every day.  No matter how bad the economy was performing or how low they were on food, the news was always positive.  Cha Eun Chae, a defector currently residing in South Korea said, “They would always say, ‘The harvest was good this year.’ But we saw our neighbors starving.”  In essence, the North Korean people are left clueless as to what is really happening with their country.

The government goes through great lengths making sure that no outside information is ever received in the country.  As mentioned earlier, tampering with television sets and radios can result in imprisonment.  Smuggling books and DVDs is also a serious crime.   People have been sent to prison camps for being caught watching South Korean dramas and soap operas.

History and international news are also twisted.  In school, North Korean children are taught that the Korean War was started by the U.S.  The media portrays the U.S. as evil and a nuisance.  As for the portrayal of South Korea, the news always say that their neighboring country is in bad shape.  Economically-speaking, North Koreans have no idea that South Korea is in top shape.  The gap, in terms of culture, economy, governance, health, education, and people, between these two neighbors couldn’t be wider.

Been a few weeks since I’ve posted.  Had a holiday boutique to prepare for, and a family vacation to the great foggy north…San Francisco: land of the Golden Gate bridge, dungeness crab, and sourdough bread. It’s been almost 18 years since last I visited San Francisco, and the last time I was there, I was in meetings, and didn’t really get to see much of the city.

To my surprise, it was only foggy the first morning we were there. The rest of the week was clear and mid-60’s. Perfect weather for all the walking and touristy things.

Lieberman: Barghouti Will Not be Released

Speaking Thursday morning, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said he could “guarantee” that arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti would not be released from prison in any deal to exchange terrorists for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. “We have no intention to free the head of the murderers, a person who has been sentenced to four life terms in prison. There are red lines, and this is one of them,” Lieberman said.

In response to U.S. demands that Israel free an additional 1,000-some terrorists as a “gesture” to Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas, Lieberman said that previous releases of Fatah terrorists “have not proven themselves. The Olmert administration did this several times and it did not work, and we do not plan to allow it to happen,” Lieberman said.

Why can’t BHussein be smart enough to know that freeing RADICAL TERRORISTS does NOT PRODUCE POSITIVE RESULTS?! Oh. I guess “brotherhood” has a lot to do with it.

Indirect talks between Israel and the Islamist Hamas movement over a prisoner exchange involving Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit have been suspended until Tuesday, according to a Palestinian official .

“Negotiations on Shalit will resume after Eid al-Adha in Cairo on Tuesday,” the official told AFP on Thursday on condition of anonymity.

The Hamas delegation, which visited the Syrian capital on Wednesday to meet the movement’s leadership in exile, returned to the Gaza Strip via Cairo, he added, while refusing to detail the content of the discussions.

Shalit was captured by Palestinian militants including Hamas in a cross-border raid from the Gaza Strip in 2006.

Hamas, which has controlled the territory since June 2007, is demanding that more than 450 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails be released in exchange for the soldier.

But Israel is refusing to release some of the detainees, blocking the chance of any agreement being reached, an official close to the talks said on Wednesday.

The same official said reports of an imminent prisoner exchange were “premature.”

Both Hamas and Israel earlier this week reported progress in the negotiations, which have been mediated by Egypt and Germany, but played down reports of a quick deal.

Accused of acting against national security – Espionage

It has been 120 days since three American hikers were detained in Iran.

The trio reportedly crossed over to Iran during a hiking trip near Kurdistan Iraq.

The Iranian government has accused them of espionage.

It has been 166 days since Yaghoghil Shaolian was detained in Iran, a member of Iran’s Jewish community, was not an activist, did not join the protests, but got caught up in the moment and threw some stones at a Tehran bank branch, in central Tehran on June 14, 2009, during unrests after June 12 presidential election in Iran.

Yaghoghil was arrested, accused of acting against national security – Espionage, resulting in his conviction and was sentenced to two and half years in prison.

An international effort is seeking more information about the FOUR defendants, and will raise concerns with the Iranian authorities, since those convicted and sentenced appear to have been denied a fair trial.

The Iranian government has accused them of espionage.

Marruecos alertó a Moratinos de que iba a expulsar a Haidar

El Gobierno español rechaza en la forma y en el fondo la manera en la que se ha llevado a cabo la expulsión de Aminatu Haidar desde El Aaiún hasta Lanzarote. Así se lo comunicó el Ministerio de Exteriores a Marruecos cuando el país vecino alertó vía telefónica a Miguel Ángel Moratinos de que iba a devolver a España a la activista saharaui, que se encuentra en huelga de hambre en el aeropuerto de Lanzarote, según han informado fuentes diplomáticas.

Marruecos hizo caso omiso de las quejas de España y embarcó a la saharaui en un avión rumbo a la isla canaria. Ante esta situación, la compañía aérea española se vio en la obligación de trasladar a Haidar, a pesar de que no tenía pasaporte, para no vulnerar el artículo 66 de la Ley de Extranjería, que establece que las compañías deben hacerse cargo de un extranjero si es devuelto por las autoridades del país.

El Gobierno, según la versión de Exteriores, no tuvo más remedio que acoger a la conocida defensora de los Derechos Humanos por dos motivos fundamentales: porque tenía tarjeta de residencia en nuestro país y para no poner en apuros legales a la compañía aérea que le había traído. Además, en caso de ser rechazada, Aminatu Haidar habría sido tratada como una inmigrante irregular y habría tenido que ingresar en un centro de internamiento.

El Ejecutivo rechaza además que Haidar haya “sido secuestrada”, como ella ha denunciado en varias ocasiones, y reconoce su derecho a salir y entrar del territorio español, siempre y cuando obtenga su pasaporte. Desde Exteriores insisten en las dos posibles soluciones para que pueda lograr su objetivo de regresar a El Aaiún: concederla asilo político o que acuda al Consulado marroquí a solicitar un nuevo pasaporte.

El relato de los hechos

Aminatu Haidar aterrizó el pasado viernes 13 de noviembre en El Aaiún, la capital del Sáhara Occidental, después de haber recogido el Premio Coraje Civil en Nueva York. Ya cuando se encontraba en la fila del control de entrada, fue requerida por un comisario que se la llevó a dependencias policiales.

La conocida activista saharaui fue sometida a dos duros interrogatorios y tras permanecer 24 horas retenida, fue expulsada a España bajo el argumento de que puso nacionalidad ’saharaui’ en la tarjeta de desembarque.

Los agentes marroquíes le requisaron su teléfono móvil y su pasaporte, alegando que ambos serán utilizados como prueba en una causa judicial abierta contra ella. Aminatu Haidar fue subida a la fuerza en un avión de la compañía Canarias Aeronáutica para ser enviada rumbo a Lanzarote.

Antes de volar con una pasajera sin pasaporte, el piloto consultó con la dirección de su compañía y se realizó una llamada al puesto fronterizo de Gran Canaria. Allí, según fuentes diplomáticas, se dio el visto bueno a la entrada de Haidar en España, puesto que tenía la tarjeta de residencia en nuestro país.

En esos momentos, se produjo otra llamada del Ministerio de Exteriores marroquí al español para alertar de que la activista saharaui iba a ser expulsada a España. Exteriores mostró su rechazo y sorpresa ante esta decisión, pero Marruecos decidió seguir adelante con ella.

Según la denuncia que la activista presentó ante la Policía Nacional, cuando el piloto se seguía resistiendo a trasladarla a España, el comisario marroquí le espetó: “La tienes que llevar porque el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores español está informado y ha dado su conformidad”.

Aminatu Haidar opina que estas conversaciones hacen al Ejecutivo de Zapatero “cómplice de su situación”: “Me siento secuestrada por el Gobierno español. Estoy en una prisión en España. Yo no quería venir aquí porque tengo a mi familia en el Sáhara. Quiero volver, aunque vaya a prisión. Ha habido una complicidad total entre el Gobierno español y el de Marruecos”, ha declarado en una entrevista en ELMUNDO.es.

Así, Haidar entró en España con tarjeta de residencia, pero sin pasaporte. Cuando ese mismo sábado 14 de noviembre quiso salir del país, no fue autorizada a hacerlo porque no tenía pasaporte.

La situación parece encontrarse en un callejón sin salida, ya que la llamada ‘Gandhi’ saharaui no acepta ninguna de las dos opciones que ofrece Exteriores y su salud se va debilitando cada día, ya que lleva 12 jornadas en huelga de hambre.

Una treintena de artistas participarán en el macroconcierto por Aminatu Haidar

Una treintena de artistas participarán en el macroconcierto que, a iniciativa del actor Willy Toledo y el cantante de Macaco, acogerá a partir de las 12 horas del sabado Rivas Vaciamadrid para mostrar su apoyo a la activista saharaui Aminatu Haidar, que permanece en huelga de hambre en el aeropuerto de Lanzarote tras su expulsión del Sáhara Occidental por parte de Marruecos el pasado 14 de noviembre, ha informado el Ayuntamiento de la localidad madrileña.

Entre las 12.00 y las 17.00 horas de la tarde se irán alternando actuaciones musicales junto con la lectura de mensajes y poemas de artistas saharauis en el auditorio Pilar Bardem, con capacidad para 1.000 personas, pero se colocarán pantallas en otras instalaciones municipales.

Para que Haidar “pueda regresar a casa”

El acto lo organizan el Ayuntamiento de Rivas, CEAS-Sahara y la Plataforma de Solidaridad con Aminatu, de la que es portavoz Willy Toledo. En un comunicado difundido por los artistas piden que Haidar “pueda regresar a su casa” y “entre sin problemas en El Aaiún, la capital del Sáhara Occidental, que ocupa ilegalmente Marruecos desde 1975″.

In this blog on the Huffington Post, I question how wise it is to increase fees for students of social work when they are already paid very little for the extremely important job they do. Unfortunately students of social work at both UC Berkeley and UCLA will have to pay increased tuitions – one bad fiscal choice among many cropping up in this time of prolonged budgetary stress.

Just this week I visited L.A. County’s Department of Children and Family Services, where the Independent Living Division (ILP) has seen the $1.4 million it used to receive from the State for a stipend for emancipated foster youth completely cut from their budget.  Rhelda Shabazz, DCFS’ Emancipation Division Chief, was livid about what the cut would mean. She held out a sheet with the entire ILP budget of $13 million and pointed out how her department would make up the 10% loss. DCFS was being forced to cut stipends for former foster youth’s: tuition, books & supplies, exams, clothing, scholastic and vocational administrative fees, apartment and dorm security deposits and transportation. All the small, huge things that can make the difference between a motivated young person making it and that same young person not having a fair chance to.

And when young people don’t make it, it is not only them who pay with time spent in prison, on the streets or under a pervasive malaise; it us as a society who pays the monetary bill of that failure and the moral toll of knowing that we let it happen.

Levels of force used by prison officers at Belmarsh high security jail are “extremely high”, a report has revealed.

Nearly one in five prisoners has been involved in a violent incident, an official inspection found.

In one, groups of Muslim and Roman Catholic prisoners attacked each other in the high security unit.

A survey of inmates found they rated gang activity as making the prison “extremely unsafe”.

Around one in five of the inmates at the prison in south east London is a Muslim. Among those held in the high security unit is extremist preacher Abu Hamza.

There are 66 high risk category A prisoners in Belmarsh, including 18 held in a separate top security unit. Since the last inspection, more prisoners claimed they had been victimised or intimidated by staff.

Chief Inspector of Prisons Dame Anne Owers said weaknesses in security had been addressed, to the detriment of prisoner care.

She said: “The overall conclusion of this inspection was that a predominant focus on security, to address some apparent weaknesses, had led to a lack of management attention to some important areas of prisoner care and rehabilitation.

“Those areas now need equally strong and robust management or staff too will see them as less important parts of their role.”

Phil Wheatley, director general of the National Offender Management Service said: “The chief inspector rightly recognises the complexity and challenges inherent in running a prison like Belmarsh which operates as a local prison while also holding Category A prisoners, who must be held under appropriate and proportionate physical security measures to ensure the public is protected.”

Whilst inside many begin to pray for the 1st time in their lives, but we need to give them the support both inside and outside of prison so they dont fall back into jahil lifestyle choices and continue to pray and practice outside just as they have inside.

Playing poker is apparently illegal in Greece. Not only when playing for money but apparently also for fun.  A neighbor had called to police to inform them about the illegal poker nights of the group of old ladies(what an asshole) and the cops came by to pay the gals a visit during their weekly night of criminality, haha. The cards were being confiscated as well as the chips and the ladies had to spent some time in prison. How ludicrous is that???

What you may never find in your mainstream news sources THE CON IS ON – PART – 1

Hundreds of police officers armed to the teeth are seen guarding a prison in Mumbai; it is the famous Arthur Road Prison. Since the November 2008, it is the most heavily guarded prison in India. Most of the security is to safeguard one single prisoner. More than 30 million dollars have been spent to secure his safety. Ironically, he is the most secure person in India today.

This person happens to be Ajmal Kasab the sole surviving Pakistani terrorist who indulged in mass killings on 26/11/2008 in Mumbai, India. The people of India would love to see him hanged at the earliest. However, the ruling political class could have other designs.

On the night of 26 November, the whole world saw Ajmal Kasab live on their television sets spraying bullets on the innocent citizens. More than a billion people were witnesses to the mass massacre of innocent citizens of different countries. Yet there is a court case going on to decide if he is guilty. Strange isn’t it?

Another terrorist Afzal Guru has been awarded the death sentence by the highest Indian courts yet the Congress govt is reluctant to execute it. The Congress govt very cleverly invents ten different excuses for the delay. The sentiments of the people of this country are the least of its concerns. The crying emotions of humanity do not move them a bit.

Dossier after dossier, I do not remember how many, may be 7, 8 or even 9 which have been sent to Pakistan have not generated the results which the Congress – NCP party wanted us to believe they would. Right from day one, it was a foregone conclusion that the Islamic republic of Pakistan would never take action on terrorism. They are not fools to cut off and dismantle their only industry, which brings in the moolah.

The citizens of India may be fools but the Pakistanis are not. Terrorism is a large-scale enterprise for them and they hold the sole copy rights for it, of course they have franchisees and outlets numbering in millions spread all over the world.

Just like the Pakistanis, it could be possible that the Con – gress and NCP party politicians are also masters at lies, deceit, deception and betrayal. I will not at all be surprised, if either Afzal Guru or Ajmal Kasab contract some disease like malaria, jaundice, swinflu or even some kidney problem in their highly secured prison cells. Don’t you think it would be convenient for some ‘Sickularist’ politicians if these two terrorists whither away and die? Remember Harshad Mehta?

A North Carolina man will never see the light of day again after being found guilty of scaring a 79-year old grandmother to death.

21-year old Larry Whitfield was found not guilty of murder Friday in the death of Mary Parnell last year. Jurors did find him guilty, however, of causing her death by kidnapping, and that carries an automatic life sentence.

According to prosecutors for the case, Whitfield was looking for a place to hide after a robbery and broke into Parnell’s home causing her to have a heart attack. While he never touched the grandmother, he did cause the heart trauma and never called for help.

Bardem: ‘Si Haidar cierra los ojos, el Gobierno de España será verdugo’

El actor Javier Bardem ha escrito un comunicado para solidarizarse con la activista saharaui Aminatu Haidar, que se encuentra en huelga de hambre en el aeropuerto de Lanzarote desde hace 12 días.

En la carta, escrita junto a su hermano Carlos, el actor considera que Aminatu Haidar es “prisionera del Estado español, aliado con la ley de hierro marroquí”. El intérprete y también portavoz de la Plataforma ‘Todos con el Sáhara’ muestra su preocupación por el estado de salud de la conocida defensora de los Derechos Humanos, cada día más débil después de tantas jornadas de ayuno.

“Si Aminatu Haidar acabara muriendo por todo lo que está pasando en Lanzarote, muchos cerrarían los ojos junto a ella. Aproximadamente más de 350.000 personas en el Sáhara y muchos más en todo el mundo. Por eso se nos encoge el corazón sólo de pensarlo”, asegura en la misiva a la que ha tenido acceso ELMUNDO.es.

El intérprete insta al Ejecutivo español a que permita el retorno de Haidar a El Aaiún, la capital del Sáhara Occidental, donde reside con sus dos hijos. “Si Haidar cierra los ojos, el Gobierno de España, éste, el de atrás y el de más atrás, basta de las gilipolleces de los colores, será junto a Marruecos los verdugos”, afirma.

EEUU, también preocupado por su salud

Ayer mismo, el Gobierno estadounidense también expresó su “preocupación” por la activista saharaui Aminatu Haidar, que fue expulsada de El Aaiún (Sáhara Occidental) a España: “EEUU continúa preocupado por la salud y el bienestar de la activista saharaui Aminatou Haidar”, manifestó el portavoz del Departamento de Estado, Ian Kelly.

“Urgimos una rápida resolución sobre su estatus legal y el completo respeto por el debido proceso y los Derechos Humanos”, subrayó Kelly, quien recordó que Haidar recibió en 2008 el premio Robert F. de Derechos Humanos y en 2009 el premio al Coraje Civil de la Fundación Train.

La activista saharaui fue expulsada por Marruecos por poner en el tarjeta de desembarque que su nacionalidad era saharaui, como había hecho en otras ocasiones. En el aeropuerto de El Aaiún permaneció 24 horas retenida y fue sometida a un duro interrogatorio.

Las autoridades marroquíes le requisaron el pasaporte y le embarcaron en un avión rumbo a Lanzarote, donde la Policía española le autorizó a entrar sin el pasaporte, documento indispensable para los marroquíes. Horas más tarde, no la permitieron salir de España y coger otro avión rumbo a El Aaiún, alegando que no tenía el citado documento.

Bardem ya emitió un escueto comunicado para denunciar la situación de Haidar, pero en esta ocasión ha redactado una carta mucho más larga y emotiva.

Además, un nutrido grupo de artistas han organizado un concierto-maratón solidario el próximo domingo en el auditorio Pilar Bardem de la localidad madrileña de Rivas Vaciamadrid a partir de las 12 horas.

En él participarán, entre otros, Kiko Veneno, Macaco, Pedro Guerra, Bebe, Miguel Ríos, Pedro Almodóvar, Eduardo Noriega, Fernando Tejero, Pilar Bardem, Mónica Cruz y Chus Gutiérrez. No sólo habrá música, sino que los actores contarán su estancia en los campamentos, recitarán poemas saharauis y leerán manifiestos de apoyo al Sáhara.

Acabamos de leer que Aminatou Haidar dejará de tomar sus medicamentos en dos días si su

situación de prisionera del estado español, aliado con la ley de hierro marroquí, no cambia

radicalmente en ese corto espacio de tiempo. Esto es como una condena a muerte para alguien

con casi dos semanas de huelga de hambre en su estómago y los huesos molidos a palos en

prisiones secretas marroquíes.

Cada minuto mueren cientos de personas inocentes en el mundo por las más inimaginables

situaciones para gente tan afortunadas como nosotros que desconocemos en nuestra gran

totalidad el hambre, la pobreza, la guerra o las enfermedades olvidadas. Y a todas y a cada una

de ellas las acompaña un grito nuestro de indignación y coraje. También de impotencia y mucho

de culpa. En muchos aspectos estas muertes ocurren para que nosotros sigamos viviendo en paz.

Todas deberían ser conocidas por alguien, en algún lugar, aunque sólo sea para recobrar su

identidad robada a fuerza de miseria y tortura. Ninguna muerte es menor, menos importante que

otra. Con cada una de ellas, aun sin saberlo, morimos todos un poco.

Si AMINATOU HAIDAR acabara muriendo por todo lo que le está pasando en Lanzarote,

muchos cerrarían los ojos junto a ella. Aproximadamente más de 350.000 personas en el Sáhara

y muchos más en todo el mundo. Su caso no es más especial o importante que el de aquellos

niños soldados, reclutados en algún país africano para obligarles con su vida a matar a su familia

y a su comunidad. Ni tampoco la de aquel individuo insignificante, que muere congelado en un

banco de la calle, porque no tiene un duro para irse a un hostal ya que las casas de acogidas no

dan a basto. La muerte de Haidar, Dios no lo quiera, o Alá, o quien sea que este ahí arriba, no

sería distinta a la de ningún otro que merece la misma atención, apoyo y cuidado que ella.

Por eso se nos encoje el corazón con solo pensarlo. Porque se nos pasan por la cabeza los

muchos nombres y rostros anónimos que sabemos pueden morir sin que nosotros podamos hacer

mucho por evitarlo. Porque creemos, y nos negamos a no creer, que estamos hartos de que el

destino vaya dando zarpazos con los ojos vendados a unos muchísimos cuantos para que los

otros menos cuantos podamos seguir soñando. Porque en situaciones límites, a parte del valor y

el miedo, lo único que nos une es el sentido común. Y sólo despertando nuestro sentido COMÚN

podemos despertar el del otro en algunas ocasiones, especialmente en las más duras y difíciles.

Por lo que sabemos, oímos y leemos, una gran mayoría del pueblo español apoya, defiende y

lucha como puede, desde la acogida de niños en verano o desde las numerosas plataformas en

defensa de los derechos del pueblo saharaui (Todo nuestro apoyo y cariño para el gran e

incombustible José Taboada) , con el único deseo de que no se sientan solos en su abandono, en

esas tierras imposibles donde sólo crecen piedras y desolación.

Todos seguimos con indignación y estupor la mala pesadilla de Haidar, la pesadilla de un ser

humano atrapado entre el posibilismo político de un estado, el español, y la opresión de una

dictadura, la marroquí. Todos queremos que se una a su familia y a su pueblo, que pise su tierra y

siga haciendo tanto y tan bueno y tan necesario por la causa de su PAÍS.

Gracias a todos ellos AMINATOU respira y es oída, algo que otros ya dejaron de hacer por no

sentir este calor, el aliento de ese sentido COMÚN . Porque no hay que pensar mucho para

entender que no hay justicia que pueda consentir tal crimen en nuestro país, que no hay nada ni

nadie que pueda justificar el sacrificio de nadie en pro de la buena relación con un país que

tortura y condena a una muerte lenta a ancianos, mujeres, niños y hombres por el solo hecho de

pedir lo que es suyo de una manera PACÍFICA y con una dignidad y aguante desconocidas para

nosotros, el resto de los mortales.

Si HAIDAR cierra los ojos el gobierno de España, este, el de atrás y el de más atrás, basta de las

gilipolleces de los colores, será junto a Marruecos los verdugos. Y nosotros habremos atado la

soga con nuestro silencio, como con tantos y tantos otros…, en tantos y tantos otros lugares.

Somos españoles y el Sáhara es nuestro hermano negado, no reconocido. Ojalá se haga justicia y

ese sentido de justicia se vuelva COMÚN y podamos parar esta pesadilla de Haidar, de cientos

de miles de refugiados saháruis y seguir mirando hacia delante con ellos a nuestro lado. El amor

suma y la injusticia resta. Ya está la historia y los diarios para recordárnoslo a cada momento.

Por favor HAIDAR resiste y respira, hay muchos pulmones que necesitan tu voz. Por favor

SENORES DEL GOBIERNO recapaciten sobre las consecuencias de su relación con Marruecos

respecto al Sáhara. Por favor dejen a HAIDAR volver a su tierra, EL SÁHARA ,con los ojos

vivos y llenos de razones para seguir luchando por lo que es suyo, de ellos.

Por favor usted, tú, si estás leyendo esto usa tu sentido común, ese que HAIDAR nos despierta

cuando la miramos en esta, su pesadilla española-marroquí, y con suerte razonaremos todos y

sacaremos la única conclusión posible; AMINATOU HAIDAR REPRESENTA LA LIBERTAD

Y EL DERECHO DE TODOS LOS QUE NO TIENEN LIBERTAD Y DERECHOS. EN ELLA

This morning was the first time I read about the British man that had hacked in to Pentagon between 2001 and 2002. They had now decided that they would send him to the US to be judged. That’s far away from home, isn’t it?

I feel compassion for the guy, really. The article told clearly that he  had Aspergers syndrome. The reason he hacked several US databases was that he was searching for proof on UFOs. That interests me as well, but if I was him I wouldn’t have done that. But what he must be going through right now… it must be pure overkill. I wouldn’t be able to handle the fact that I would be sent overseas to be judged and probably spend 70 years in prison. That would be such a waste for a smart guy like him, he could actually help the US government to make their databases more secure.

Having Aspergers and being in prison doesn’t go hand in hand. The feeling of being stuck somewhere, with awful and really social people… please, I know it’s hard to understand. Give this guy another chance, will you?

He was just playing with a hobbies he were interested in, hacking and UFOs. If drawing was illegal, I would probably spend a lifetime in prison! I don’t really think he wanted to hurt anyone with them. I think it would be entirely different if you would be searching for secret information to be able to hurt thousands!

I know my post right now is very objective. I’m sorry for that. But that is what I right now feel. Please, USA, Britain, I hope you’re doing the right thing. Don’t waste a life of someone that perhaps didn’t understand the seriousness of his deeds.

In a bizarre story on the BBC news website today, prisoners at an open prison were able to buy a raffle ticket offering, as the prize, a day out of prison. And it’s interesting to note that the governor of the prison didn’t know about the prize being offered in the raffle!

When AFK power leveling Gavin at AT LV 109-112 area along with Priscilla and Lucius in the afternoon, our family got reported and sent to the prison. I didn’t use any bots or do any suspicious activity though. So what makes the report to went through. We feel so unfair and it is totally beyond our expectation as we never been reported before, especially in AT! If we were using Catherine the Summoner and power leveling in IoF and got sent to ‘Disneyland’, that would be understandable. But this, in AT! It’s just too absurd that someone reported! Perhaps to steal my spot. Sigh.

While rotting in prison, we need to collect 220 Rat Toenails and 328 Rat Meats. In our first run (yeah, I mentioned first run and you’ll know what I meant later), we managed to obtained 370 Rat Toenails and 328 Rat Meats. Just as we thought we would be back to the real world. We were told by the guard that we didn’t bring the EXACT amount! Gosh, I must have overlooked the EXACT word. The worst thing is, we need to start over again! Yes, with 0 Rat Toenails and 0 Rat Meats.

We feel so frustrated and we decided to ask Aurelia for help. Her acceleration + the Hermes potion managed to collect those items within an hour. And this time we managed to gather the EXACT amount just as the guard said.

And so, we finally managed to go back to the real world. Ain’t it be so good to feel the ‘fresh air’ at Auch~
