“PES Redux!”
For those worried about being disappointed with another poor iteration of PES can rest assure that you won’t be disappointed this time around. It’s apparent that Konami really listened and actually made huge, noticeable improvements based on gamers’ feedback. The graphics are top notch (Rooney, Messi, Torres, Ibra, and other players are uncanny in their resemblance); gameplay is a bit slower and more realistic but not to the point of being dull and laborious. You still get that classic excitement when you hear a big “thump” and a “swoosh” noise when you strike the ball to make that hard earned goal – something that you can’t experience with FIFA for some reason even with it’s vast superior graphics and official team/player licenses. I’m not a PES fanboy (too old and busy with life) and admit that FIFA have made some huge strides in terms of game realism, graphics, and online play in the past few years. But whenever I have time to play and host games with friends and family, we keep coming back to PES because of its gameplay, not eye-candy.

I’m extremely satisfied with PES 2010 with its much improved graphics, gameplay and most importantly, online play. Thankfully, you no longer need a separate Konami ID. You choose “Online” from the main menu and you’re in the Lobby, seconds away from playing someone online. Most of that awful lag is gone this time around with smooth online experience. The game actually disconnects during joining if it detects sub-par connection, not during gameplay or worst, forcing you to play lag plagued game. You still get that “jitter” from time to time (playing people with slow connection) but not to the point of playing with disappearing ball and players. I have played fair amount of online PES 2010 games and my experiences were 95% lag free and enjoyable for the first time.

PROS:

1. Vastly improved graphics and online play

2. Classic PES gameplay with improved controls and animations

3. Slower, more realistic gameplay with easier set piece play

4. Soundtrack – I personally like them

CONS:

1. No licenses but you should know (but not expect)that by now if playing PES

2. Awful hot pink menu selections – it’ll hurt your eyes

“Great update to an already good series”
I’ve been playing the franchise since ISS 64. This is definately the most exciting game yet. The gameplay is fluid and feels more like a simulation style compared to last year. Graphics are great, new soundtrack with actual music and a great master league mode. There are small small nuances that get annoying, but that is the case with all footy games. This game does not dissapoint and the editing option to update the licenses is easily taken care of with a US option file. There are many out there already.

Don’t go the FIFA route this year. Although it is a good game, which I’ve played, PES 10 simply delivers the more realistic feel. The demo on the ps3 or 360 network doesn’t do the finished product justice by the way.

Hey all I thought I needed to write something just so I could get back into the habit of writing. I’ve been neglecting my poor blog lately, for no apparent reason might I add, so I’ve decided to force myself to write today.

• I’ve changed the look and feel of the blog. I just found this new layout and decided to go with it. Though I don’t like the fact that I can only put my widgets on the top (which as you can see ends up cutting them off prematurely). If anyone knows how to properly use html and wants to hook me up with a solution please contact me. Oh, and let me know if you like this format or the old one.
• There are a couple of seminar’s coming up to discuss the way in which Kuwait is losing all its freedoms, and its progression to the extreme right. Tonight’s seminar is titled  Censorship Protects Ignorance. Tomorrow’s will be talking about the new Fatwa from the Awqaf Ministry on the Veil (head scarf) and what the Parliamentary committee deems appropriate behavior for our nation. Like I’ve said many times before we are the only democracy that reduces freedoms instead of increasing them!
• In my gang there has been a big debate lately about how to move forward in the very important issue of FIFA 10 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. It’s a tough question since both games have their positive and their negatives. Game play, graphics, league set up and many more is being discussed. Now normally you would say let each person pick what ever game they like. However, when you need to play against each other there needs to be consensus for such issue. I’m still not sure which way to go as I havent played either yet. So stay tuned for the important update regarding this pressing issue.
• There is a new show on HBO that is a lot of fun to watch: Bored to Death. It is very funny. I think we can all relate to wanting something exciting in our mundane lives.
• Mad Men is amazing!

La franquicia PES está pasando un momento delicado, y a falta de que Konami encuentre el camino adecuado en la nueva generación, el sistema de PS2 sigue funcionando a las mil maravillas. En la edición de este año, PSP recoge el testigo de su hermana mayor en lo que a modos de juego se refiere, sin cambios en el aspecto técnico y apenas diferencias en la jugabilidad, aunque con el mayor aliciente que hubiésemos podido desear; el modo Online.

Since Sebastian Bassong has officially signed with Spurs, we now have 4 true central defenders in place. Tthree-quarters of the defense are injury prone or just coming out of lengthy battles with boo-boos which is truly unsettling. Spurs need to sign another defender to be honest. All this talk of “we need a left winger” doesn’t cut it for me. Luka Modric is fine in that position and does a great job of cutting into the middle to set up others. I also think Jamie O’Hara is able to cover him on the wing if need be; it’s definitely not an area we struggled with last season and it never needed immediate addressing.

I, like so many, am addicted to Playstation games like FIFA and Winning Eleven (Pro Evolution for some). First thing I do as manager is solidify my defense. Why? The most annoying thing in the world is when you’re winning or even tied in the match, dominating the opposition, only to have the computer stage a comeback in the final minutes and score the most retarded goal(s). Bet you anything, if you beefed up your defense to begin with, the Playstation would have to overheat itself computing a way to score that dramatic winner.

So back to my point about the defense… we need healthy players competing for the central defender role. Anyone can see how crucial it is to our stability. Take last season for example, when Ledley played week-in-week-out, Woodie was healthy and Gomes was on form, it was nearly impossible to score on Spurs. They had built a solid partnership which gave us the ability to win games scoring just one goal (i.e. Chelsea). One goal! It’s not something you want to base your winning record on but we pulled it off! Why? Solid defense!

If we bring in one more established defender, preferably with Premier League experience between the age of  25 – 27, it would add stability to our rock of a defense. A rock that is battered with injuries and may crumble at any time. Let’s not wait to see that happen please.

Few thoughts:

So I just renewed my Internet connection to 2Mb. Now anyone living in the western world that would be like an average speed one would pay a reasonable amount for. Not here though. After doing my research I found that my current provider is the cheapest at this speed and I will be paying KWD192 for the year. That’s $667. $55/month.  Shocked at those prices I decided to do a little research and see what people are paying in the States and found that for 7Mb with Verizon people pay $40/month and for 6Mb at ATT you pay $35/month. In Japan very soon they will be getting 160Mb and its only going to cost J-Com $20 to install per home. Damn!! Here I’m a superstar for getting 2Mb

I’ve been playing Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood on the Playstation lately and I have to admit I love it. As a kid I used to love western movies and even now I loved movies like 3:10 to Yuma, so when I got this game I was very excited about it. Thankfully its been living up to the expectation. The game play is a lot of fun, the story line and dialogue are great at keeping you interested and in their cheesiness. Lots of gun fights, and the boss fights include quick draws. I highly recommend it.

There are a few other games coming out this fall that you need to look out for

• Uncharted 2
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
• Assassins Creed 2
• Splinter Cell Conviction
• And obviously PES and FIFA go without saying

Finally its no secret that I’ve been pining for a Sony Bravia for a long time now. The problem is now there is a new technology in the LCD market called LED giving us these super slim TVs. Whats a man to do with all these options? Can’t buy a TV now and have it be outdated too quickly. Does one wait for LED to be the norm? Advice!!

Nossa grande novidade agora é investir sempre em cima do BLOG com o grande objetivo de divulgar ainda mais nosso grupo de viciados em Pro Evolution Soccer.

Com isso estamos criando vários categorias, ou seja, temos o nosso BLOG não só falando do campeonato e sim sobre várias coisas, com isso o objetivo de aparecer no mundo da Internet ficará mais fácil com outros tópicos diferentes, atingindo outras pessoas.

Konami nos ha dado nuevos detalles de lo que será este años la Liga Master y el modo estrella en su famosa franquicia de fútbol, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. Aunada a la información, les pongo también las imágenes que se distribuyeron.

Los usuarios tendrán ahora un menú principal dividido en tres áreas: Ciudad Deportiva, Aledaños del Estadio y Oficina. Cada una de ellas acaparará las diversas partes del día a día de un manager, con la Ciudad Deportiva aglutinando todo lo relacionado con las tácticas y las decisiones del día del partido; Los Aledaños del Estadio para las opciones generales, y la Oficina para la coordinación de las operaciones de fichajes y traspaso de jugadores.

Con el nuevo sistema de menús será mucho más sencillo navegar entre estas diferentes áreas, y los usuarios podrán pasar de una a otra de una forma rápida y sencilla. La Ciudad Deportiva también contará con la creación de una nueva sección de cantera, la cual evolucionará en paralelo al primer equipo. Según la temporada avance, el usuario podrá optar por invertir en el filial para impulsar su desarrollo. Los que más destaquen podrán ser traspasados al primer equipo, como ocurre en muchos equipos del fútbol real.

La Oficina será el área donde se producirán todos los traspasos y acuerdos financieros del club. Como novedad, PES 2010 contará con divisas reales para estas operaciones, con otras alternativas económicas también disponibles. Se podrán negociar los sponsors del club, con la posibilidad de que empresas lleguen a acuerdos con el club para poder invertir en el mismo y su filial. Los resultados sobre el terreno de juego afectarán de forma significativa a la valoración de estas operaciones, y al número de empresas interesadas en vincularse al club. Además, la afición seguirá siendo determinante a la hora de medir la popularidad y prestigio del equipo.

Pues así es, Konami nos hace entrega de más imágenes de su próximo lanzamiento en lo que a su serie de simulador de fucho se refiere. En lo personal me gusta muchísimo más el Pro Evolution que la serie de FIFA (lo siento gente de ea) y las imágenes que pongo a continuación me provocan unas enormes ganas de adquirirlo ya.

Las imágenes son de Messi al momento de hacer la captura de movimientos, un comparativo de los rostros del PES anterior y este (la verdad lucen impresionantes) el estadio de Anfield y varias pics ingame.

Tras años de vendernos el mismo juego, una y otra vez, con solo un par de retoques, los señores de Konami le han visto las orejas al lobo, han metido las cabras en el corral y se han puesto a trabajar en serio, que ya era hora y no tenían mas remedio.

Pro Evolution Soccer, antes ISSpro, era, y digo era porque a día de hoy no lo es, el simulador de futbol por excelencia, la referencia, y lleva varias temporadas rindiendo a un nivel muy por debajo de lo que nos tenía acostumbrados, por ello, la compañía ha anunciado que ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2010’ traerá una gran cantidad de novedades en su jugabilidad, gráficos y sonido… en conclusión el  simulador de futbol definitivo.Novedades de Pro Evolution Soccer 2010:

• La inteligencia artificial ha sido mejorada. Se adaptará a nuestra forma de juego, por lo que nuestros compañeros controlados por la máquina no actuarán siempre de la misma forma. Gracias a ello, el resto de jugadores de nuestro equipo variará su comportamiento en función de nuestro estilo de juego.
• Renovación del apartado grafico.
• Licencias de los equipos y ligas oficiales.
• Nuevo sistema de tiro libre
• Mejora de la física del Balón y los Jugadores
• Mayor animación en las gradas.
• Mayor control sobre los remates a puerta.
• La estrategia será mucho mas completa.
• Por fin el modo online parece ser que funcionara sin sobresaltos.
• Y muchas mas que no pongo para no aburriros….

It’s been an eventful week in the Channelbee office which means an uneventful week at the flat. Despite being the setting for a classic gag, Jenny’s absence alongside some long working hours has meant some much needed and long awaited peace for our neighbours. The focus of game-play this week has been the battle of Pro evolution soccer v Fifa, with myself backing the former and Ben trying to convert me to the latter. Despite finding that I’m actually not too bad at Fifa, I’m yet to be convinced that it will ever be my footballing game of choice even though as Ben correctly boasted; “they’ve got the proper kits and everything!”

Moving on to this week’s challenge…Tecktonic dancing has been all the rage in the office in the past few weeks so it was only right that we got involved. Set by Markos on Banterpit, the task was to imitate a couple of Japanese dancers flailing their limbs in all sorts of directions. 

After the first practice Ben’s squid arms seemed to adapt to this style a lot easier than my frozen joints, but I’m confident that tonight we will do it justice.

20. Bishi Bashi (Arcade)

Este juego destaca especialmente por su originalidad. En sí resulta un poco chorras, pero cuando combinas su originalidad, su fácil jugabilidad y el nivel de desafío en relación a su simpleza, se convierte en un multijugador único e imprescindible. Básicamente consiste en un montón de pequeñas pruebas al más puro estilo de concurso televisivo, que se basan en velocidad de reacción, capacidad de aporrear el botón en el menor tiempo posible, coordinación de movimientos separados de izquierda/derecha, cálculo, coordinación con los colores, ritmo, calibración… Y cualquier locura imaginable que no supone ningún desafío más que al sentido de la cordura.

19. Super Mario Kart (Racing – Karts)

Otro multijugador hiper adictivo, que si no has disfrutado con tus amigos en tu infancia, es porque no la has tenido. Este es de los más históricos porque en su momento la Súper Nintendo arrasaba y además el videojuego fue pionero, creando tanta demanda que los videojuegos de karts se convirtieron en un género rentable durante bastantes años. De hecho según Guiness (aunque ves a saber en qué se basan para decir esto) se trata del videojuego más importante de la historia. Toma ya. El género ha dado, creo yo, mejores ejemplares, y lo veremos en su momento, pero por las horas de vicio, por su multijugador y su repercusión en el mercado este juego debe estar lo más arriba posible en cualquier lista.

18. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Fútbol / simulación)

Si te gusta el fútbol y te gustan los videojuegos, no hay más que hablar. Como simulador es asombroso, y además incluye las posibilidades de manager de equipo que en su momento tan popular hicieron al PC Futbol, editor de jugadores y equipos y las licencias de equipos y jugadores reales. La perfección y el súmmum de la simulación futbolística. Quienes prefieran el fútbol arcade probablemente preferirán el FIFA, que también tiene licencias. Pero a mí me pone más el realismo. La liga manager es muchísimo vicio; creo que es el videojuego que más horas me ha quemado en los últimos tiempos.

17. Zelda: Ocarina of Time (RPG)

Un RPG especial por su introducción de un entorno de interactividad completamente tridimensional, en la línea de lo que Mario 64 supuso en el mundo de las plataformas. Si a esto le añadimos que no desmerece de la saga Zelda (aunque no sea el mejor), pues bueno, tenemos un juegazo.

16. Mario Land (Plataformas)

Para muchos, el primer plataformas de nuestras vidas. Cuántas mañanas en el patio de la escuela los niños sacaban sus Gameboys para probar y compartir juegos. Pero claro, no puede competir con sus hermanos mayores. Es de los juegos que tienes que pasarte del tirón más digeribles que he probado, si no el que más. Pongo un vídeo con la canción del final del juego. Me lo pasé cantidad de veces sólo para escucharla, no digo más…

Como bien señalan las cifras, no a todos afecta por igual la crisis publicitaria. Y uno de los soportes que se salva es la publicidad en videojuegos. Si bien es posible que crezca menos de los esperado, los expertos creen que la facturación se mantendrá a la alza, ya que los anunciantes consideran que es un buen medio de llegar a consumidores alejados de la televisión.

Media Game, una de las principales empresas nacionales, espera multiplicar por tres sus ingresos este año, pudiendo alcanzar los dos millones de euros. “Una publicidad en el simulador futbolístico Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 tiene más espectadores que un partido en abierto. Por ejemplo, en España se estima que el juego venderá un millón de copias. Por término medio, cada una tendrá siete sesiones al mes, de unas tres horas cada una, con más de dos jugadores presentes, al tratarse de un juego que se disfruta en partidas en grupo”, explica en Cinco Días Txus Prió, director de la empresa. Vodafone, Caja Madrid, Universal Pictures o el Ministerio de Cultura son algunos de los anunciantes que apuestan por Media Game.

Como bien explica el diario económico, la publicidad en los juegos tiene mayor éxito en los mundos virtuales online. En Everquest 2, por ejemplo, se ha llegado a incluir un botón en la propia interfase del programa que permite conectar directamente para realizar un pedido a Pizza Hut. Ahora también está presente en los juegos incorporados a las redes sociales, como Facebook.

Estamos en el ecuador de la liga y el dominio del equipo de Alex es abrumante y para ver esto solo hay que ver que no ha perdido en ninguno de los encuentros que ha realizado, será la suerte, que es muy bueno o cualquier otra cosa ultrasensorial por la cual es imposible ganarle aunque si empatarle, en el segundo puesto se encuentra Juancar con 25 puntos y una buena racha, la tercera posicion esta por ahora ocupada por Will con 19 puntos aunque Rober le sigue la pista muy de cerca… tan solo a un punto. Estaremos atentos a lo que pueda pasar y deseamos suerte a todos los componentes de la liga.
