Processor adalah sebuah IC yang mengontrol keseluruhan jalannya sebuah sistem komputer dan digunakan sebagai pusat atau otak dari komputer yang berfungsi untuk melakukan perhitungan dan menjalankan tugas. Processor terletak pada socket yang telah disediakan oleh motherboard, dan dapat diganti dengan processor yang lain asalkan sesuai dengan socket yang ada pada motherboard. Salah satu yang sangat besar pengaruhnya terhadap kecepatan komputer tergantung dari jenis dan kapasitas processor.</p>
<p>Prosesor adalah chip yang sering disebut “Microprosessor” yang sekarang ukurannya sudah mencapai Gigahertz (GHz). Ukuran tersebut adalah hitungan kecepatan prosesor dalam mengolah data atau informasi. <a rel="attachment wp-att-1793" href="http://syamfidharullah.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=1793"><img title="processor1" src="http://babesajabu.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/processor1.jpg?w=200&#038;h=176#38;h=176" alt="processor1" width="200" height="176" /></a>Merk prosesor yang banyak beredar dipasatan adalah AMD, Apple, Cyrix VIA, IBM, IDT, dan Intel. Tetapi pada saat ini sudah banyak beredar processor dari produsen yang lain, sehingga user sudah bisa mendapatkan processor yang beragam.</p>
<p>Berikut ini adalah bbrapa contoh perkembangannya :</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 1</strong></p>
<p><em>Processor 8088 dan 8086</em></p>
<p>Processor 8086 (1978) merupakan CPU 16 bit pertama Intel yang menggunakan bus sistem 16 bit. Tetapi perangkat keras 16 bit seperti motherboard saat itu terlalu mahal, dimana komputer mikro 8 bit merupakan standart. Pada 1979 Intel merancang ulang CPU sehingga sesuai dengan perangkat keras 8 bit yang ada. PC pertama (1981) mempunyai CPU 8088 ini merupakan CPU 16 bit.</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 2</strong></p>
<p><em>Processor 80286</em></p>
<p>Merupakan prosessor 16 bit. Prosessor ini mempunyai kemajuan<br />
yang relatif besar dibanding chip-chip generasi pertama. Pada kecepatan awal (6 MHz) berunjuk kerja empat kali lebih baik dari 8086 pada<br />
4.77 MHz.</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 3</strong><br />
<em>Processor 80386 DX</em></p>
<p>Merupakan CPU 32 bit pertama. Prosessor ini dapat mengalamati memori hingga 4 GB dan mempunyai cara pengalamatan yang lebih baik daripada 286. 386 bekerja pada kecepatan clock 16,20, dan 33 MHz.</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 4</strong><br />
<em>Processor 80486 DX</em></p>
<p>Dikeluarkan 10 April 1989 dan bekerja dua kali lebih cepat dari pendahulunya. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena penanganan perintah-perintah x86 yang lebih cepat, lebih-lebih pada mode RISC.</p>
<p><em>Processor IBM 486SLC2</em></p>
<p>IBM mempunyai chip 486 buatan sendiri. Serangkaian chip tersebut diberi nama SLC2 dan SLC3. Yang terakhir dikenal sebagai Blue Lightning. Chip-chip ini dapat dibandingkan dengan 486SX Intel, karena tidak mempunyai mathematical coprocessor yang menjadi satu. Tetapi mempunyai cache internal 16 KB.</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 5</strong><br />
<em>Pentium Classic (P54C)</em></p>
<p>Chip ini dikembangkan oleh Intel dan dikeluarkan pada 22 Maret 1993. Prosessor Pentium merupakan super scalar, yang berarti prosessor ini dapat menjalankan lebihdari satu perintah tiap tik clock. Selain itu terdapat perubahan yang besar dalam bus sistem : lebarnya lipat dua menjadi 64 bit dan kecepatannya meningkat menjadi 60 atau 66 MHz.</p>
<p><strong>GENERASI 6</strong><br />
<em>Pentium Pro</em></p>
<p>Pengembangan Pentium Pro dimulai 1991, di Oregon. Diperkenalkan pada 1<br />
November, 1995. Pentium Pro merupakan prosessor RISC murni, dioptimasi untuk pemrosesan 32 bit pada Windows NT atau OS/2.</p>
<p><em>Pentium II</em></p>
<p>Pentium Pro “Klamath” merupakan nama sandi prosessor puncak Intel. Prosessor<br />
ini mengakhiri seri Pentium Pro yang sebagian terdapat pengurangan dan sebagaian<br />
terdapat perbaikan.</p>
<p>fitur- fitur :<br />
·  CPU diletakkan bersama dengan 512 KB L2 di dalam sebuah modul<strong> SECC</strong><br />
(Single Edge Contact Cartridge)<br />
·  Terhubung dengan motherboard menggunakan penghubung/konektor slot<br />
one dan bus P6 GTL+.<br />
·  Perintah-perintah MMX.<br />
·  Perbaikan menjalankan program 16 bit (menyenangkan bagi pengguna<br />
Windows 3.11)<br />
·  Penggandaan dan perbaikan cache L1 (16 KB + 16 KB).<br />
·  Kecepatan internal meningkat dari 233 MHz ke 300 MHz (versi berikutnya<br />
lebih tinggi).<br />
·  Cache L2 bekerja pada setengah kecepatan CPU.</p>
<p><em>Pentium III – Katmai</em></p>
<p>Maret 1999 Intel mengenalkan kumpulan MMX2 baru yang ditingkatkan untuk perintah grafis. Perintah ini disebut Katmai New Instructions (KNI) /Perintah Baru Katmai atau SSE. Perintah ini ditujukan untuk meningkatkan unjuk kerja game 3D. KNI diperkenalkan pada Pentium III 500 MHz baru. Prosessor ini sangat mirip dengan Pentium II. Menggunakan Slot 1, dan hanya berbeda pada fitur baru seperti pemaikaian Katmai dan SSE.</p>
<p><strong>Beberapa Jenis Processor(dari awal):</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Mikroprosesor 8080</strong><br />
Prosesor ini lahir pada tahun 1974, dengan75 instruksi, memori maksimum 64 Kbyte. Sistem operasi yang digunakan adalah CP/M dari microsoft<br />
<strong>2. Mikroprosesor 6800 dan 6502</strong><br />
Mikroprosesor ini dirancang oleh Chuck Peddle yang dikeluarkan oleh Motorola. Komputer yang menggunakan prosesor ini adalah APPLE I dan II, KIM-1 VIC, dan lain-lain.<br />
<strong>3. Mikroprosesor Z-80</strong><br />
Prosesor yang pertama kali menggunakan RAM.<br />
<strong>4. Mikroprosesor 8085</strong><br />
Prosesor ini dikeluarkan oleh Zilog. Produk ini merupakan produk gagal karena kalah cepat dengan Z-80.<br />
<strong>5. Mikroprosesor INTEL 8086/8088</strong><br />
Prosesor ini berbasis 16 bit. Mempunyai dua mode kerja. Mode pertama disebut mode minimum, dimana prosesor bekerja sendiri. Mode kedua disebut mode maksimum yang memungkinkan terjadinya pemakaian prosesor ganda. Dalm hal ini Intel menyediakan prosesor pasangannya 8087 yang merupakan prosesor khusus untuk prosesor matematis.<br />
<strong>6. Mikroprosesor 6800</strong><br />
Prosesor ini dikeluarkan oleh Motorola dengan struktur 16 bit tetapi internalnya 32 bit. Prosesor ini cocok sekali digunakan dengan sistem operasi UNIX. Komputer yang menggunakan prosesor ini adalah Apple Machintosh.<br />
<strong>7. Mikroprosesor 80286</strong><br />
Versi ini adalah lanjutan dari 8086 dengan arsitektur 16 bit murni dan memiliki 16 MB. Komputer yang terkenal adalah IBM AT.<br />
<strong>8. Mikroprosesor 80386</strong><br />
Komputer dengan arsitektur 32 bit murni dan mampu memiliki memori hingga 4 GB.<br />
<strong>9. Mikroprosesor 68020 dan 68030</strong><br />
Prosesor ini bekerja pada 32 bit dengan kecepatan 15,7 MHz.. Kelebihan prosesor ini adalah adanya cache memori internal.<br />
<strong>10. Mikroprosesor 80486</strong><br />
Prosesor ini memiliki prosesor 80386 beserta FPU 80387 ditambah dengan cache memory internal.</p>

Ezzel egyidőben piacra kerül az új H57-es alaplap is, amit szintén várunk. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Nos, a specifikációkról is lehullott a lepel, a lenti képen megtaláltok minden szükséges információt, többek között a várható árakat egyaránt. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Annyi érdekesség fűzödik még az új processzorokhoz, hogy beépített DX10-es vezérlőt is tartalmaznak, ami elég impozáns. Támogatják a Hyper Threading technológiát és ezáltal egyszerre több szálon tudnak dolgozni. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I&#8217;m sure you have heard about this. Apple has released the i7 iMacs. Yes, you heard me correctly; i7, perhaps one of the fastest chips known to date. After running several tests, <a href="http://www.macworld.com/article/143970/2009/11/core15_imac.html?lsrc=twt_jsnell">MacWorld</a>&#8217;s Jason Snell confirmed <a href="http://twitter.com/jsnell/status/5874318344">via Twitter update</a> that the 27 inch iMac was the fastest stock Mac they have tested to date, i.e., the iMac is faster than the current Mac Pro.</p>
<p>Problem? Not necessarily, but to does raise some questions.</p>
<p>One of these questions is: &#8220;If the iMac is better than the Mac Pro right now, then doesn&#8217;t that mean Apple will upgrade the Mac Pro in the future?&#8221; I have an answer to this question, and I believe it is &#8220;yes.&#8221; But just because I am answering yes doesn&#8217;t mean I think that&#8217;s the best thing to do.</p>
<p>If you follow my Twitter updates you may remember a specific one in which I suggested that Apple drop the iPod Shuffle from it&#8217;s line. I suggest this because it is simply irrelevant. I can&#8217;t imagine anyone buying it unless they are completely clueless about MP3 players or they simply want to have proof to back up them saying &#8220;I own an iPod&#8221;. It&#8217;s too cheap, and frankly, too useless (but not completely, I have to give Apple that.)</p>
<p>This may be the case for the Mac Pro now. I do understand that there are &#8220;super&#8221; people who need to pimp out with Mac Pro with 32GB of RAM and 8-core 3.2 Ghz Processors, and I do understand there are some people that need 4TB of HDD space, but with the iMac screen getting larger, and it being an all-in-one machine after all, don&#8217;t you see those possibilities within the near future?</p>
<p>Yes, I am suggesting that the Mac Pro be dropped, but not soon, not soon at all. I&#8217;m saying that the iMac is up there in terms of speed with the Mac Pro, and it only makes sense that you upgrade the Mac Pro, get rid of it if the iMac is testing faster than it.</p>
<p>But, I do know that Apple will update the Mac Pro, and this post is nonetheless, a thought.</p>

Whenever we closed the cabinet door some of the disks were jarred out into the cabinet.  If we opened the door too quickly it slung the disks out as the door opened.  This unit will only work on a fixed solid surface.  We didn&#8217;t have any fixed solid surface to hang it.  It ended up on a shelf out in our garage.  Anyone want to make us an offer on it? </p>

Perkembangan processor demikian pesat. Two-in-one core dengan dual-core pada processor bukan lagi yang terdepan. Intel telah memperkenalkan jajaran processor quad-corenya. Pembahasan kali ini akan lebih fokus untuk empat core processor di dalam satu packaging.</p>
<p>Kehadiran quad-core processor untuk PC adalah salah satu topik hangat yang masih dibicarakan sekarang. Beberapa keterangan tambahan juga ditambahkan untuk ulasan kali ini. AMD juga tentunya tidak tinggal diam melihat teknologi yang ditawarkan oleh Intel.<br />
Namun pendekatan quad-core pada AMD, setidaknya untuk sekarang ini, terlalu berbeda.<br />
Dengan menggunakan dual processor dualcore pada satu motherboard. Beberapa kendala akan dihadapi jika mengandalkan pendekatan AMD. Penggunaan dual processor akan membatasi pilihan penggunaan motherboard yang dapat digunakan, juga modul memory. Dan pada akhirnya, juga akan membatasi calon penggunanya. Untuk itu, pada pembahasan quad-core kali ini, kami masih membatasi pada penerapan quad-core yang digunakan oleh Intel.</p>
<p>Sesuai dengan roadmap dari Intel, kehadiran Quad-Core processor telah hadir di penghujung tahun 2006 yang lalu. Dilanjutkan dengan multi-core (lebih dari empat)  processor selanjutnya di masa yang akan datang. Tidak lagi untuk segementasi extreme, multi-core juga akan merambah ke segmentasi performance hingga mainstream di tahun yang akan datang Sebagai produk awalnya adalah Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 dan Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor, yang diluncurkan pada awal November lalu. Berita mengenai peluncuran processor Quad-Core ini, sebetulnya sama sekali bukan sebuah kejutan yang baru bagi computer enthusiast. Pada IDF (Intel Developer Forum) terakhir pun, keberadaan<br />
processor ini sudah diperkenalkan. Namun, peluncuran resmi memang baru dilakukan pada November.</p>
<p>Untuk processor desktop PC, ini memang merupakan hal yang baru. Hanya dalam kurun waktu sekitar satu setengah tahun, semenjak Intel dari dual-core menjadi quadcore processor. Ini bisa dijadikan salah satu petunjuk bahwa Intel mulai menganggap serius proses paralel Perlu diakui, fokus tren processor memang “terpaksa” beralih ke paralel. Tidak hanya Intel, pesaingnya pun melakukan pendekatan yang serupa. Di saat  peningkatan kinerja sudah semakin sulit lagi untuk didapatkan dari peningkatan frekuensi kerja (clock processor).</p>
<p>Di mana untuk melakukan hal tersebut sudah pasti dibutuhkan peningkatan kebutuhan catuan daya untuk CPU. Dan hal tersebut secara tidak langsung akan meningkatkan suhu kerja saat beroperasi. Hal tersebut sudah kurang memuaskan lagi untuk tren dan kebutuhan komputer terkini. Semenjak processor dual-core diperkenalkan, memang sebuah awal tren pengembangan processor baru.</p>
<p>Alih-alih mengingkatkan clock processor, paralel core processor dalam satu kemasan fi sik processor menjadi pilihannya. Meskipun semenjak dual-core diperkenalkan untuk processor desktop sampai sekarang, belum semua aplikasi dapat memaksimalkan kemampuan processor dual-core. Dengan split thread ke masing-masing core, di mana pada kemampuan process multithread inilah, processor dual-core lebih menunjukan kemampuan maksimal dibandingkan singlecore. Namun setidaknya, dengan peluncuran processor quad-core untuk desktop PC ini, lebih mene gaskan bahwa sudah saatnya tren paralel dengan multithread yang dikerjakan pada multi-core processor.</p>
<p>Intel memperkenalkan jajaran processor dengandual-core dalam selang waktu singkat.  Namun kemudian Intel sudah meluncurkan quad-core, masih dengan core microarchitecture yang kurang lebih sama dengan yang terdahulu nm. CPU dengan code named Penryn ini belum diketahui banyak informasinya.</p>
<p><strong>Harga</strong><br />
Ini mungkin akan menimbulkan pertanyaan, mengapa quad-core processor ditawarkan dengan harga yang bersaing dibandingkan processor dual-core. Pada penjelasan sebelum nya, dapat dimengerti mengapa teknologi quad-core tidak memberikan lompatan harga yang demikian besar. Keputusan Intel membuat quad-core dari menggabungkan dua dual-core dalam satu packaging (kemasan) processor LGA775 memungkinkan hal ini.<br />
Dan konsumen diharapkan akan memiliki pilihan sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Karena bagaimanapun ini sama dengan keadaan terdahulu.</p>
<p>Baik quad-core maupun dual-core yang ditawarkan memiliki keunggulannya tersendiri. Dual-core Extreme X6800 bekerja pada clock 2,93 GHz, sedangkan Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 bekerja pada clock yang lebih rendah 2,66 GHz. Processor Intel dengan clock yang lebih tinggi masih akan tetap memberikan kinerja yang lebih baik pada aplikasi single-threaded, yang masih banyak digunakan pada aplikasi PC desktop. Sedangkan, processor quad-core memiliki keunggulan pada saatdigunakan dalam aplikasi multi-thread. Meskipun belum semua aplikasi dapat  mengoptimalkan multi-thread tersebut.</p>
<p>Namun seiring dengan perkembangan tren, terlihat dari perkembangan processor terbaru, tentunya multi-thread lebih menjanjikan di kemudian hari. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><strong>Processor</strong> merupakan hal yg sangat penting dari komputer, karena processor merupakan pusat untuk mengontrol dan memproses kerja sebuah komputer. Sebagai contoh fungsi dari processor adalah ketika Anda hendak menjalankan sebuah aplikasi seperti memutar lagu pada sebuah player seperti Winamp. Pertama-tama tentunya Anda akan mengklik icon Winamp untuk memainkan lagu yang Anda inginkan. Ketika Anda klik Winamp, mouse memberikan sinyal kepada komputer Anda melalui kabel mouse menuju mainboard Anda. Kemudian mainboard melalui jalur khusus, sinyal tersebut diteruskan melalui sebuah jalur BUS yang akan menuju ke Memori Utama, setelah diregister di memori utama, baru kemudian diteruskan menuju Processor untuk diolah sinyal yang dikirimkan tersebut. Setelah processor memproses sinyal tersebut (pengecekan request sinyal tersebut dapat dipenuhi atau tidak), processor akan mengirimkan sinyal kembali kepada komponen-komponen lainnya yang diperlukan untuk menjalankan program Winamp tersebut (seperti harddisk, memory dan sebagainya). Barulah program Winamp akan tampil di monitor anda.</p>
<p>Perlu diketahui bahwa processor hanya dapat mengenali instruksi dengan notasi bilangan Biner (ex.01010001010). Merupakan notasi untuk perangkat elektronik dimana bilangan NOL (0) menandakan tidak terdapat sinyal listrik, dan bilangan SATU (1) menandakan adanya sinyal listrik. Tentunya urutan proses tersebut tidak dapat dibayangkan hanya sekejap mata saja, karena kecepatan processor yang dapat mencapai 3,2 GHz (3200 Juta getaran perdetik), jadi prosesnya sangat cepat hanya sepersekian mili detik saja.</p>
<p>Pada awalnya, processor hanya difungsikan untuk pengolahan aritmatika saja, seperti halnya kalkulator pada saat ini. Namun sekarang ini processor telah bergeser fungsinya mengarah ke multimedia.</p>
