Having planned our trip to the mountains at the end of the month I’m now stuck with what camera system to take. This will be my third year on the slopes snowboarding so my skills on the snow are very low tech in contrast with my photographic skills which are slightly more professional. I’m a professional photographer by trade but need an escape from my everyday shooting of beauty and fashion in studios. My options are Canon 7d for it’s drive and lens range plus HD filming to boot. Then have lower tech options like the Canon S95 which is the best manual compact by far Canon have made yet. HD Hero would be my choice for on slope action and pro boarder capture especially with the fast frame rate. I would also have a Sony Bloggie 360 and my iPhone 4. Do I really need to take all of this?? Do i break it down into days for different tech?? What I’m actually setting out to do is to fuse my day job with playtime and create a interesting portfolio of work that would bag me some snow clients. The portfolio I’m aiming to fill is a custom made landscape A4 leather book. It’s going to need 60 pages filling with engaging imagery to interest these future clients. My mission starts when we hit the Italian alps at the end of the month. I’m feeling like black and White images are going to rock my world more than anything. Having brushed the dust off my Contax T2 and bought a few rolls of FP4 I feel this maybe the winning although basic formula.
