Timbaland is getting ready to put an album out on December 8th, the album is called ‘Shock Vaue 2′. What you people saying about this video? It’s getting harder and harder to impress with music videos…BUT this one is different in the way that he’s tried to make a mini movie out of this one.

Voilà, ça y est, le salon Esperluette est fini… est c’était bien.
Deux jours sur le pont, de 10h00 à 19h00, sous pression constante pour éviter de dire des âneries (ma spécialité) ou de les dire trop fort… et pourtant on en redemande.

Pourquoi ? Parce que…
… il y avait du monde, du beau monde, du monde gentil, qui s’intéressait à ce qu’écrivaient les auteurs, même si ce n’était pas sa tasse de thé (« Moi j’aime pas la science-fiction »),
… il y avait Catherine Dufour, qui est gentille comme pas permis et qui dit des trucs super au lieu de se contenter d’en écrire (je cite de mémoire : « Hum… je réfléchis. »)
… il y avait Fabrice Colin, que j’ai peut-être un peu gavé par ma comparaison des stations de ski françaises et italiennes, mais c’est comme ça, groupie complex, on dit n’importe quoi au lieu de rien, et André-François Ruaud, que j’ai peut-être un peu gonflé aussi en lui demandant quel genre de texte il voulait pour sa revue Fiction,
… il y avait Delphine et Sylvain, qui avaient fait le voyage depuis Lyon à (presque) trois et que j’ai dû gonfler un peu aussi mais ils ont été assez gentils pour ne pas le montrer,
… il y avait Jean-Marie Blas de Roblès, tellement ému quand je lui ai dit merci pour son livre Là où les tigres sont chez eux (lisez-le, c’est beau, et puis prêtez-le)
… il y avait Eddy Harris, tellement grand, sage, ouvert, magnifique !
… il y avait Cathy, qui dessine des fées comme une fée (facile !) et qui, et que… non, Manu, je n’y ai pas touché !
… il y avait le chef papou (en pagne, plumes, os dans le nez et tout) avec qui j’ai déjeuné et papoté en pidgin et qui a dû partir en courant sinon il pissait là, par terre,
… il y avait tous ces gens qui ont pris le risque de s’offrir Djeeb le Chanceur jusqu’à ce qu’il n’y en ait plus, et tous les autres à qui je n’ai pu que le raconter (ben oui, y en avait plus, rupture),
… il y avait tous ces gens qui ont pris le risque de s’offrir Aria des Brumes, même sachant que la suite ne sortirait pas, enfin, pas tout de suite,
… il y avait Chloé et Isabelle, dont les sourires m’ont touché tout droit, là où ça fait chaud, parce qu’elles aiment ce que j’écris (Oh merci vous !)
… il y avait tous ces organisateurs si extraordinairement sympas, Thierry Caquais en tête, que j’en suis à me demander si Esperluette n’est pas le salon le plus agréable où je me sois rendu.

Darayonan Lodge

Darayonan is a Cuyonon word that means a place to stay. The lodge is situated in a residential part of Coron town, strategically located along the National Highway. Darayonan Lodge aims to provide its guests with clean and comfortable rooms, good food and quality service. Aside from that, one has options on choosing the rooms to stay at: in the native bamboo, sawali and banig set-up or in the modern concrete and tile two-story building.

Darayonan Lodge is an accredited tourist inn by the Philippine Department of Tourism. It has played host to a number of VIP’s and celebrities, the most notable of whom are Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and then U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardone.  In fact, Congressman Baham Mitra was amongst the guests of the lodge during our stay from October 21-24, 2009.

What is striking about this place aside from its homey atmosphere is the owner’s love for the arts. It definitely is a reflection of the owner’s strive in achieving perfection in everything. From the lodge’s interior decorations to the food being served for each meal. He personally goes over every little details right before being served or handed over to the guests. We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights; and it was a part of the overwhelming positive experiences that I have had during my stay in Coron, Palawan.

The place is clean all the time! They see to it that the rooms and private comfort rooms get cleaned everyday during your stay. They also make sure that the entire lodge is spic and span all throughout the day. I have never seen any litter at all in my entire stay.

The facilities in this lodge pass the normal standards of travellers: hot and cold shower, all air-conditioned rooms, centralized water system. It’s like you never left home at all. I’ve had a comfortable stay at this lodge.

It’s also probably the only lodge that includes breakfast for two along with the daily room charge. And what’s more, drinking water and coffee is unlimited, no extra charge. I should say that staying at Darayonan is really a value for your money.

Today, I presented my first “Red Carpet Writing: How to Hook Your Readers Hollywood Style” workshop at the Scottsdale Civic Library. I decided to focus on giving the attendees an energetic experience, involving them through questions and answers as much as possible, in order to create a lively and interactive workshop. With this in mind, I prepared by studying notes and the books in the series Save the Cat! by Blake Snyder, which inspired my workshop theme. I also brought my easel and some markers because I read somewhere that I cannot for the life of me recall now that an audience enjoys and retains more when the speaker draws. The drawings don’t necessarily even need to relate to the topic. Thankfully, mine did.

I count today’s workshop as a success and here are my criteria for measurement:

1. I involved the attendees and each seemed at ease. At least half offerred a question or an answer and every head in the room nodded at least once.

2. The attendees took notes.

3. Two attendees stayed after to further discuss the topic.

4. I found, when imaginary books are in the room, I do an excellent Vanna White style demonstration of them.

5. I got some laughs and did not run out of things to share.

6. I made two errors, both were corrected by an attendee. Though I was thoroughly embarrassed over having made the blunders, I believe I handled each without defensiveness. What were my errors? First, that a line of dialogue in a screenplay does not equate with a minute of film but that a page does. Yes, that makes far more sense. Also, I forgot to say this is a do, not a don’t, on one of the tips from the Snyder books.

7. As a workshop Goodie, I brought door tags with slogans on one side and my promo material on the other.

I feel so grateful to have been a part of the workshops today, to be a Desert Rose RWA member, and to be a writer. My biggest hope today is that my ideas helped energize every writer who attended and that maybe I shared a tip that will make their road a bit easier, a bit more fun, to travel on. I still have a lot to learn, but I’m happily getting there.

The new tracks started to sound very different than the tracks I originally intended to be on Relapse 2, but I still want the other stuff to be heard.”
