So Christmas is looming, and the wonderful thing about being otherwise not religious and living in a predominantly Buddhist country is that I get to avoid a lot of both the commercialisation of Mithras’ birthday, and all the churchy clamouring that normally attends the festival. (Midnight mass, carolling etc.) This is not to say that I am utterly immune to the effects of the season… for me it is a time of family, with the emphasis on spending time with family and friends. This year, it looks as though the Yeti will be spending the weekend in with the wife. Of course, being in a non-Christian country means that both the wife and I will be working on the day as well. So we are simply going to join the masses in a state of denial, and celebrate the day on the Saturday.

Now, whilst the Yeti is decidedly non-Christmassy… the wife more than makes up for the both of us. It’s carols and wrapping and decorations and menu planning all the way. My primary goal for the magic weekend appears to be to stay the hell out of the way.

One of the best things about Mithmas in Taiwan is that the temperature is plummeting. Really cold. Like…..14 degrees.
Now I KNOW that most of my family live in temperatures that are routinely lower than that… and to them I would just like to say. You lot live in houses with carpets, double-glazing and central heating. The temperature inside is pretty much a nicely uniform 18 to 20 degrees. Which is nice. The problem with Taiwan is that the Taiwanese summer runs for about 9 months of the year, and the houses are built accordingly. So we have wall to wall tiling, single-glazed windows, and air-conditioning throughout. Which means that the temp inside is the temp outside. Which is pretty bloody cold. Let’s face it, 14 degrees in your bedroom is pretty bloody nippy.

So… as I was saying, one of the nice things about Mithmas is that the temperatures are down, which means that we can actually enjoy a hot meal. (Living in South Africa, having an actual roast turkey dropped on the table when it was 32 degrees outside always seemed pretty dumb.) This year, seeing as everything except mammals are back on the menu, we’re roasting a chicken. YAY!
(And we’re hoping that our favourite restaurant is going to be kicking in with a turkey meal around about that time too. *nudge nudge*)

In other news. I am getting over what appears to be an allergy induced asthma episode. I know. Weird.
For some reason, my lungs decided that the air around me was simply not good enough any more, and started to close. Every (and I mean EVERY) breath was painful, the deeper the breath, the worse the pain. Tell me… you ever tried to teach a class of 25 6-year old’s QUIETLY? Needless to say, this week hasn’t been one of the finest teaching weeks that I have had. I got to the doc on Monday though, and the medication has basically improved my breathing every day this week. Which is a good thing.

Nothing like breathing to pass an enjoyable day.

The Soapbox.

Well… this week marks the start of the rest of my life. Social Networking site FREE. I quit Facebook on Monday. And you’ll be amazed at just how much time it saves. Of course, “quitting” Facebook is a relative term. You see, if you go through your ‘Account Settings’, you will see that there is an options to DEACTIVATE your account. Which is just dandy until you read the print in the confirmation email that they send to you. The wording is something along the lines of “your account will be ready and waiting for you should you ever decide that life without Facebook is just not worth living, and come crawling back to us.” Or something to that effect. Which means that your information is not DELETED, it is merely inaccessible to YOU. And you need to realise that everyone that you are friends with, or share a network with still has access to your shit. Just not you. Unless of course, you log back into your account, in which case, all is hunky dory again.

Sneaky eh?

So. I decided that Deactivation was not good enough. Instead, I wanted to actually get my profile DELETED. To this end, I went into their Help section and did a search for deleting your profile. And there… in the third paragraph of reasons why you shouldn’t leave, is a single word hyperlink for account deletion. But that is not all. No no. See, once you have clicked on the link, they still throw everything they can at you. To whit… pictures of a selection of your friends with the caption “Joe Bloggs will miss you….” “John Smith will miss you….”. Pathetic, isn’t it?
Once you have confirmed that you do indeed intend quitting permanently, and confirmed that you are happy for your profile to be deleted, and entered all their security codes and bullshit… THEN, you get a message to the effect that your account has been DEACTIVATED, and if you do not log in for the next TWO WEEKS, only THEN will your profile be deleted.

So. After you have expressed and confirmed and confirmed the desire to leave their fucking website. After you have made your will clear, after all that… YOUR details are held on their servers for an additional two weeks just in case you change your mind and come back to them. Well thank you very much Facebook. But on the hallmarks of a great organisation is facing up to loss with grace. And this smacks simply of juvenile sore-loser material.

Now, besides the time wasting issues of the social website, there are issues of privacy. Anyone who intends putting actual data on the site needs to have a look at what they are advertising. And remember that anything that is hosted on a public server is deemed public information. Have a look. Just google “Facebook privacy issues” and then ignore all the facebook employees saying that there is nothing wrong.

Dec 9, 2009 AN octogenarian and his roommate were fighting over pornography at an old folk home.

The men caused an uproar at the home in Bahau, Negri Sembilan soon after midnight on Monday.

One of them, an 83-year-old man who was sleeping at that time, complained of being awoken by the loud volume on the television.

He alleged that his 75-year-old roommate was watching pornography in the room at that time.

“It was too noisy and disturbed my sleep,’’ he told China Press.

He asked the roommate to switch off the television but the latter refused.

A heated argument ensued.

One of them was said to have grabbed a stick and attempted to attack the other. Luckily, he was stopped by the caretaker of the home.

Police arrived to find out what had happened following a distress call.

The roommate, however, denied that he was watching pornography.

“It was two years ago. I have not been watching pornography recently,’’ he said.

Bahau councillor Phoon Kow Chai, a committee member of the home, said the duo had been placed in different rooms now.

He said this was the fourth time the octogenarian had complained about his roommate.

“We have warned the roommate not to cause any trouble to the other people in the home anymore,’’ he said.

He said there were 18 live-in old folks at the home.

02 Dec 2009 Researchers were conducting a study comparing the views of men in their 20s who had never been exposed to pornography with regular users.

But their project stumbled at the first hurdle when they failed to find a single man who had not been seen it.

“We started our research seeking men in their 20s who had never consumed pornography,” said Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse. “We couldn’t find any.”

Although hampered in its original aim, the study did examined the habits of those young men who used pornography – which would appear to be all of them.

Prof Lajeunesse interviewed 20 heterosexual male university students who consumed pornography, and found on average, they first watched pornography when they were 10 years old.

Around 90 per cent of consumption was on the internet, while 10 per cent of material came from video stores.

Single men watched pornography for an average of 40 minutes, three times a week, while those in relationships watched it 1.7 times a week for around 20 minutes.

The study found that men watched pornography that matched their own image of sexuality, and quickly discarded material they found offensive or distasteful.

Prof Lajeunesse said pornography did not have a negative effect on men’s sexuality.

“Not one subject had a pathological sexuality,” he said. “In fact, all of their sexual practices were quite conventional.

“Pornography hasn’t changed their perception of women or their relationship, which they all want to be as harmonious and fulfilling as possible,” he added.

Hi,

I don’t really expect anyone to really read this blog but well I’ve come to that point in my life where I feel like I really have something to say. At least write I dunno maybe it is because I’m too weak to face reality. I think I’ll also create a Youtube channel and upload some videos there if I ever get a hold of a video camera. I’m also an IB students btw so everyone else who are th@t or know something about. Knows that I don’t really have a life and that’s why I actually can take 1 day in the weekend to sit down and write a blog for less than one hour beside studying for my HL’s ^-^ I can speak a little Cantonese I hope to show of my skills in some youtube videos if not you can try to figure out this sentence if you know Cantonese

Actually I think many people have tried to think about what would life be like without Internet. It kinds of brings me back to my child hood when internet was quite new and I was one of the coolest kids in the street who had ISDN which was like 3x faster than regular modem I don’t know. Well there was 2 things it ended up being used for.

I remember one of my golden moments was one time being allowed to borrow my sisters minidisc and I thought it was so cool then it went out of battery -_-” short living stuff that minidisc. Also my sisters music taste was crap at that time and it’s still is together with my brother. I don’t even think it’s f@ir to call it a music taste it’s more like a music follow everyone else kind of thing when it comes to them.Oh well let me not go too out of topic now so beer with me and get drunk =)

The second thing it was used for was browsing pron. Obviously internet was made for porn. I remember one of the first pron website me and my friends browsed. It was some thing liek xxx-girls.com and then the most epic of them all which became famous in our mind forever. I don’t remember but we were like 10 boys swarming around a 10″ CCD screen with ISDN connection waiting for the website wait for it…. the name is epic and will always remain in our mind. Japan-porno.com something like that I think was the name we typed in the address space. Anyway who care about the name when there is a hot naked asian chick on the screen -_- Duh. Every naked girl we browsed was “Pamela Anderson”! as we didn’t know the name of any other porn star in the industry at that time but later years with development of internet and ASDL, fiber optic came. I think we would’ve been more qualified naming those actors popping up on the screen.

Still after my friends left I was left with a major problem, spyware and viruses. Apparently browsing pron websites in the late 1990’s wasn’t the best idea of safe surfing so then it was how to explain it to my parents. Firstly I tried to delete it but ofc at that time my skillz were limited by age so I was only partially able to hide my track except a huge Icon blinking saying “XXX chat”. Well in the end there wasn’t much fuzz about it. I said I had been browsing a game website and “accidentally” clicked on some advertisement and all that suddenly entered our computer in a magical way. Lucky my parents were and are technological illiterates so they couldn’t understand much more than reading the tutorial on how to use a recover disc on your computer. So no trouble for me yay

I am acquainted with the leader of the Maryland Coalition Against Pornography, and she sent me a link to a new study on porn. It was sponsored by an organization that is affiliated with Focus on the Family, and I’m starting to feel a little out of place.  See the pic for it’s main points.

I’m not a Christian fundamentalist. I’m not even religious. You could even say I was anti-religion; in fact, I am vehemently secular. So there is my problem; I don’t fit in or agree with the anti-porn front coming from Jesusville. I’m totally on another page.

And then there’s the feminists. Goddess bless their good intentions, but they can be utterly and painfully misguided. No shit for those of you who feel that the gender movement has become so splintered that we have no more clout or cred anymore. I’m right there with you – in fact, I believe that we’re bound for an uprising.

On that note, I will share a story. Earlier this year, the University of Maryland, College Park, showed a XXX porn film for shiggles. Sure, they claimed it was all about safe sex and free speech. After all the hullabaloo, they ended up canceling the talk from Planned Parenthood and had an ACLU rep talk about free speech.

Interesting. Free speech. Funny how they didn’t host any discussion of opposition to the screening.

State legislators stepped in and managed to truncate the screening to the first 30 minutes or the university would lose tens of millions in state funding a year. Students giggled their way through a sex scene and felt very proud of themselves. After all, isn’t that why we go to college? To become mature enough to watch XXX movies like an adult?

I’d like to point out that the screening was organized by a student who was running for political office, and who was supported by the student group, Feminism Without Borders. I wrote them in protest and received no reply.

This movie featured a gang rape scene facilitated by a woman. Of course, the supposed victim decided she liked it after a few minutes. Really liked it. I’m imagining young people watching this, and I can’t help but feel, rather, know that they weren’t quite up to the task of being critical of it.

Feminism Without A Clue, more like.

This all started a huge argument over what free speech is, and is porn bad, blah blah… I even found myself as a commenter on the locally famed Kojo Naamdi Show on Washington D.C.’s NPR talking about how our university admins have the responsibility to guide us through being critical of the world around us even in the face of criticism ourselves.

Here’s the best part, folks: I called the acting director of the women’s studies department at the university, and she hung up on me. How’s that for plot thickening?

I took it upon myself to hold a screening of a movie at my own campus. No, it wasn’t the pirate movie. It was a documentary on porn by acclaimed filmmaker Chyng Sun, NYU master educator: The Price of Pleasure.

It was NOT easy to get this shown on my campus. It’s very interesting to me that the XXX pirate movie has been literally handed out for free at universities all over the country by the production agency, where it was shown without much ado, yet I try to show a documentary ABOUT porn and I run into a ton of tension and hesitation. Not to mention the occasional straight up firewall.

I wonder if the student politicians at UMCP had to have a faculty member present to moderate the discussion. I just have low expectations of them.

I finally got the thing shown, and we had a pretty good turnout for a chronically lackadaisical community commuter college. I had about 25 people, and UMCP had so many that people were sitting on the floor and standing in the back.

We also had a great discussion, something we at Montgomery College can be extremely proud of. Go us! That IS what going to college is all about; critical inquiry into our world, using critical thinking skills and honing them. And yet we play approximately 300% less per credit hour. Sheesh.

The problem here isn’t that government was trying to intervene in free speech matters. And it wasn’t even that the film was shown; it was about the circumstances under which it was screened, and the pathetic response from the school (case in point: my brief and truncated call to the women’s studies department). It’s also just about porn and people’s feelings towards it.

Porn is so much more than just sex. And who are we to say that the lack of repressive sexualities is bad for society, as suggested by the study’s interpretation? Sexual openness is a fine and normal part of natural human behavior. For those that have strict religious dogma, they may disagree, but I am speaking purely from a secular frame of mind, and my intent is for its application to be purely secular in a very general way also.

People are going to explore every facet of their being (if they know what’s good for them, of course), and that includes sexuality. Sex has a dark side that is welcome to be explored, but with all philosophy aside, once an individual or a society condones the act of inflicting suffering, there is an inherent evil within the mindset of the perpetrators. This is really the problem with it all – it is indicative of the selfishness within society – a symptom of a much more broad problem – self-absorption.

The selfless man will be far less likely to indulge himself in a video of a woman being humiliated or hurt. He will be equally unlikely to take part in its production. It is those who cultivate the very opposite of compassion that do so, as it is so easy to do here and now.

Exploring the innermost desires of one’s sexuality is normal, even if it’s “weird,” uncomfortable, or unusual. But capitalizing on the systematic dehumanization of women is an entirely different story, and that is truly the basis of the problem.

I wonder if there is anything to be done about perhaps replacing pornography with its unequal alternative: erotica. Erotica, ideally, is a perfectly normal and natural expression and exploration of sexuality in terms that many people are comfortable with. It’s not a lot different from sex scenes in movies, save for the fact that the sex acts are actually performed. There is the main differentiation  between porn and erotica, however, which is that it does not degrade, but rather, represent.

On top of that, let me make an important distinction between porn and erotica. Pornography is derived from the Greek word “pornae,” a term for the lowest class of street whores. Erotica is derived from the Greek word “Eros,” or the name of the Greek god of sexual love and beauty. Whores and love/beauty – try not to confuse the two – I know, I know, porn makes that very challenging.

Take a look at these compressed screencaptures. I searched “porn,” and “erotica,” respectively, in google, and these were the first of each. Notice the difference of representation. The erotica website clearly has a well-developed seductive appearance, while the porn site is just repetitive fucking.

Granted, when one wants to do one’s business, one wants to just do the business. But what of this systematic degredation? It may not be visible in the image, but the descriptions and titles of the videos in the porn site call women all kinds of horrible things, such as “slut, mom I’d like to fuck, twat, weird chubby chick, weird, bitch, monkey, etc.” Keep in mind, folks, this is not some obscure hard porn website. It’s the number one hit on google for porn.

It’s a good bet that plenty of guys in your life visit this website and click on, oh, maybe the one with the teenager banging an old man. Or the one with five dudes and one girl. This is not representative of common sexuality. It is astonishing that something so far from reality is the most popular form of porn; how do we condition ourselves to be turned on by something so unfamiliar and, in fact, cruel and unusual?

I think the main issue with replacement is that people do not pursue erotica specifically because of the main difference; that is to say, it doesn’t degrade women in the same way that has been so highly and effectively sexualized in porn. People have let  this media dictate their psycho-social responses and desires, making it perhaps pathological.

Consider the high rates of mental issues and substance abuse of porn actors, and you have an even clearer, if sadder, picture of the place porn has in our world. It’s a last resort option for the people who enter the field. Very, very few become well-respected and highly paid; there are also high STD and pregnancy rates. Don’t even pretend like you’ve ever seen a condom in a porn.

The documentary I mentioned earlier presented a university study where the top-selling porn films of 2008 were categorized and qualitatively coded. They found that the vast majority of these films contained aggressive and especially violent actions and language towards the females in the films. For example, making a woman go down on a man after he was just having anal sex with her – no washing. It’s got a term in the adult industry – ass-to-mouth (ATM). You get an award for this now at the AVN awards, but it used to be obscure. Why so popular now?

In the documentary, a behind-the-scenes tape showed an actor vomiting after shooting that very act; how are women able to feign arousal while eating their own feces off a penis?

It’s a shame, for so many reasons. I believe that a part of pornography addiction therapy would be the use of erotica as a healthy alternative during detoxification. I wonder if other psychologists support that theory?

What do you think? Can porn be replaced with erotica? Will porn continue to be such a huge force in our world, or will it begin to reflect a less imagined and more real form of human sexspression?

And just why are we having a holiday on the 25th? Well… it’s the birthday of our lord and saviour.

So there have been a few questions as to why there were no complaints about the SA trip. Alluded one friend… “It’s not like you not to bitch.” Nice to be predictable. Fair enough… I’ve had a few weeks to get my thoughts on the matter together…

The wife and I went to the Traffic Department in East London while were back home. The idea was to get our Driver’s licenses reissued so that we could exchange them for a Taiwanese driver’s. Saves me having to do the test again.. in Chinese. For those who don’t know, the Traffic Dept is in the really shitty side of town… and given that it is a Buffalo City municipal dominion, is of course a run-down dump. (Think 5 counters, two of which are manned. Think four airconditioners visible, with only two running, these both in areas with open doors. You’d think with the electricity crisis in South Africa, the government would be cutting back. Think insane queues, think of a cleaning roster that appears to function once a month. A shithole.)
We knew that it would be an exercise in patience, we knew that it would be an object lesson of frustration management. We knew it. And still they won.
First Queue (Day One) – Assume position just inside the door. In the time we waited, the queue extended out onto the paving. Disinterested chica at the front is slapping down forms, and issuing instructions in a bored monotone. Finally get to the front. State our cases. Take not of monotoned costs and form instructions.
Second Queue (Day One) – We didn’t bring pens, and so had to rub shoulders at the pen-trough… finally scratching our details onto the forms with a dying pen that may have been an institution of the ‘previous regime’.
Third Queue (Day One) – We left the pen-trough and headed out for our mandatory eye tests. Took positions 11 and 12 respectively. Seat-shifted for almost an hour to get to the front of the queue. Once we were on the final row of chairs, we could see into the eye-testing facility. Three testing stations. One in use. Watched in irritation as at least 5 people cut ahead on the queue. Vowed vengeance. Finally get to the front, and wander over to the eye-dude before he calls ‘Next’. He’s irritated. I’ve moved without his permission. I shrug and sit down. He fixes me with a steely gaze. I drag his eye machine over to me. He calls out the questions, I read the answers. Finger-printed. Done. Head off to Queue Four while the wife takes the test. Take a look at my results. I just passed. JUST. And I was wearing my glasses for the test. (With an up to date prescription)
Fourth Queue (Day One) – This queue isn’t all that bad… and I land up letting people jump ahead of me while I wait for the wife. She arrives with crap news. She failed the test. Completely. Even with her glasses, she failed it outright. License refused. She is given a form that she can take to a regular optometrist for a more involved eye test. She is understandably upset, the deterioration of her eyes to the point where she is not fit to drive is not to be taken lightly. I pay for my license, and get told the news. 6 to 8 weeks. SIX to EIGHT weeks. For them to REPRINT and LAMINATE a card. (In Taiwan, this is done while you wait… 5 mins tops.) I ask for a proxy form… so that my In-laws can pick up the card for me. They no longer have it. It is now required that you make a letter of permission out to the person in question, and then have it authorised by the cops.

We leave.

(Day Two)
The wife takes herself off to an optometrist… willing to pay the consultation fee to get the test over and done with. Almost R300 was the quote she received. (NT$ 1500) She goes. Comes back with a complete pass. And the optometrist didn’t charge her. Why?
The optometrist receives so many referrals from the Traffic Dept that have nothing wrong with their eyes that they are no longer charging for it. Given that the optometrist is just ONE of the optometrists in the city, and is nowhere near the Traffic Dept geographically, it is a sad commentary on the accuracy of the test. Later of course, we were to be told that the guy was probably hoping for a bribe… and that a note or two passed his way would have solved the problem. (We’ve been out of SA for too long, I didn’t even think about it.)

Queue One (Day Three) – Back to the Traffic Department. This time, the wife joins Queue One, while I go and hold a place in Queue Two. Now, before you think that that is a little underhanded, consider that in certain government institutions in South Africa, the queues are bad enough that people make MONEY being queue holders for impatient people. As it was, there were three of us placeholders in the queue… and a very short queue. Which led to an awkward moment when we were all trying to indicate that the others could cut ahead.

Queue Two (Day Three) – After establishing that everyone in the queue was in fact not interested in actually being served, I stood about aimlessly. The wife was along shortly, having presented her optometrist test and done her fingerprinting. Jumping to the head of the queue, we paid our bit and left.

Three visits to places we didn’t want to go. The first for almost 2 hours, the second for 30 minutes and the third for almost an hour. Now… without being a total prick about things… what the hell is wrong with the Traffic Dept that they need to do SO MANY queues for what is essentially a standard service?
Why is it that you need to queue in one room, then another, then back to the first room? Haven’t they heard of bottle-necks? Is it just plain stupidity that keeps them from seeing the clashes between the various queues as they run out of space and people must move onto the paving? Are they so oblivious as to notice that when it RAINS, half of their clientele get wet?

The answer is simply that they couldn’t give two shits about the people in their queues. And because the service is monopolised by various Govt agencies, there is no reason for them to give a shit. After all, if you don’t like it.. fuck off. Back to the land of the present.

After the disintegration of my previous scooter, it was required that I buy another bike on our return to Taiwan. I decided to go for something simple. Something reliable. And I did. Presenting the Kymco Jockey. Of course, my bike is nothing like those on the Kymco homepage. Mine is more like this.

It is a butt ugly but very preppy scooter. And looking about the streets of Kaohsiung, they appear to last forever… which is precisely what I want. A to B with a minimum of fuss. I actually can’t find pictures of it online, so I am going to have to take a photo of the bike myself to show you. I warn you though… seriously ugly bike.

As many of you know the wife and I started eating chicken and other birdlife again. Enter the Bayou restaurant… anyone who knows me knows that it’s my favourite eatery. Well. It’s like a menu reborn. Suddenly, I can actually eat most of the things they have on their menu. And I am happy to announce that I have found the best pizza. In the world. Ever. EVER. They have this Pizza called a Chicken Caesar Pizza…
Basically a normal pizza crust with a chicken topping and mozzarella cheese. On TOP of the pizza is a Caesar salad, so fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, parmesan cheese and caesar dressing. I don’t like Anchovies, and I really don’t like Parmesan cheese. In spite of that, the pizza rocked. ROCKED. Those of you who live in Kaohsiung need to get off your asses and go eat one. Those of you that are planning visits to us in the future… well, guess what we’re having for dinner?

On a final note in the personal news bit… Facebook is getting dumped for 2010. Sad to say, I am sick to death with people “Facefishing” (Deliberately obscure references to bad things in the hope of entreating sympathy from the hordes. “Kevin just doesn’t know if he can take it anymore.” Strap on a pair Kevin!), inviting me to countless crap applications (I don’t want to join Farmville… the Mafia is not a viable form of entertainment for someone with more than two braincells… and NO, I’d rather not assuage my conscience by joining a FB group for deaf people… I’d rather continue donating cash to charities locally.) I’m tired of the Facesluts… (the people with 15 Billion “friends” that want me amongst that number.) and FINALLY…

You know… I never liked the Sims. I never got into the Tamagochi. I find Sim City and their ilk to be fussy, and more management than I like. Take a moment. Take a good look at your Facebook friends. How many of them are actually friends? How many of them are on that list simply because you accepted them once a long time ago, and now don’t have the balls to get rid of them? How many people’s problems are being aired in your general vicinity? How many people’s problems are you commenting on on a daily basis. Wouldn’t it be easier to get a pet? I did. He never posts frivolous updates. He never fishes for sympathy or makes oblique observations in a desperate bid to start conversations. When he wants attention, he comes over and makes it known.

2010. Facebook Free. 350 million time-slaves hooked on the website. How much time are you wasting?

Your TRUE story of the week:
A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for you tube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded: “Good luck with that one, pal”. So he posted a retaliatory video on you tube. The video has since received over 5.5 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: “Good luck with that one, pal”. Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

A salesman goes up to a house and knocks on the front door. It’s opened by a little twelve year-old boy who has a lit cigar in one hand, a glass of whiskey in the other and a Penthouse magazine tucked under his arm. Salesman says “Hello son. And yet another Christofascist bigot dances up and joins the ever-growing Conga Line of Lies and Mendacity.  Ms. Carrie “No Offense But Gays Are Second Class Citizens” Prejean may be looking  at a hairpin turn in her career trajectory:

Having been stripped of her Miss California glory when she failed to make her contractually-obligated public appearances, Prejean was sued by the pageant when she failed to pay them back $5500 they had loaned her for breast implants. She, in turn, filed a lawsuit against them claiming they had discriminated against her over her religion.

According to TMZ, the lawsuits ended today during a surprising meeting between the lawyers for both parties.

As the pageant lawyers played a DVD for Prejean featuring a naked woman in a porno film, she reportedly said, “That’s disgusting.”

But when the camera moved along that naked body to show her face, the words stopped. Fifteen seconds later, the lawsuit was dropped.

The moral of the story:  before going all pious and self-righteous at the sight of a porno film, it’s a good idea to make sure that person being penetrated in every orifice for all the world to see isn’t YOU.
