160!!! I have finally managed to lose 20 pounds! 

I had a really honest conversation with myself and I realize that I will definitely have to do another 45 day round.  I really want to be 125.  It’s a mandatory for me today.  I realized this after talking to my doctor and him reassuring me that I have a medium to small frame and really shouldn’t weigh more than 130.  The pressure for me now is my legs.  My top is getting pretty small.  I want my arms to slim down some more, but mostly, I need my legs to slim down.  I have a lot of fat and cellulite.  I just want it all gone. 

I am hoping and praying that I get down to 145 this round.  I have re-evaluated my goals and I’m ready to stay on this path.  This has been so amazing.  I’m so excited about my future and I’m so ready to live my life in the best body possible!

I realize that Fox News protocol is pretty much to attack and advance half-truths and falsehoods against President Obama at any and every turn.

This video of Charles Krauthammer, a right-winger zealot disguised as some kind of a political analyst for the network conservatives trust, shows this man’s hatred for the president. This guy, Krauthammer, talks about narcissism (an all too familiar theme for him) with regard to President Obama, but that is code for the president being a little too “uppity” and not knowing his place. He clearly sees President Obama as overstepping his bounds. Considering the way that Krauthammer attacks the president, it seems more than fair to wonder if this is merely politically motivated or if perhaps there is something a little more sinister at play.

Obviously, the Fox News talking point is to try and portray President Obama as being a weak man (hence it’s tired emphasis on the fact that he is greeting fellow world leaders in customary forms). To Fox News, the bow is a sign of weakness (as long as it comes from a Democrat president and especially if it comes from President Barack Obama). To normal human beings, it is a sign of respect for the customs of a culture.

Listen closely in this video. Is Krauthammer now advancing preposterous birther conspiracies with this line of talking:

KRAUTHAMMER: “… Presumably he grew up in and spent some of his childhood in Hawaii and in Indonesia.”

Then, Krauthammer goes on to bash the president for apparently saying he is “the first Pacific president.” Lets see, Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and raised in Indonesia, but apparently that doesn’t count to Charles Krauthammer. This point clearly pisses off the sensitive Krauthammer who goes on to talk about world leaders in one way or another were in the pacific during war-time or were involved in the building of the Panama Canal, etc. He mentions Roosevelt, Taft, Bush and Kennedy.

At one point, in childish fashion, Krauthammer mocks the fact that President Obama had ice cream in Japan with his mother. 

Is Krauthammer really that stupid? Is he really that much of a far-right nut? President Obama was likely speaking about being born in Hawaii, in the Pacific, and was perhaps trying to inspire others. Instead, the far-right Krauthammer tries to paint President Obama as slighting these other men. That is just flat-out insane, but it is very Charles Krauthammer.

Then the nutty Krauthammer (with no resistance from the host or fellow panelists) refers to him as “baby Jesus” too in a joking fashion (you could hear laughter among panelists). Yet, more childish antics from a grown man Charles Krauthammer is, presumably. It just shows the hatred that Krauthammer has for our leader of the United States of America and the Commander-in-Chief.

Were George W. Bush still president such talk might be considered anti-American.

Japans cultural customary greeting is a sign of respect

The customs and regulations dealing with diplomatic formality, precedence, and etiquette is the definition of protocol.

The United States has had an upper executive level position that is as close to consulting and directing the specific details and directions that assist the president in issues governing how to greet the multitude of heads of states that visit the White House, as well as when the President travels internationally to foreign lands.

The name of the position is called the  Chief of Protocol of the United States, and Ambassador Capricia Penavic Marshall was sworn in as Chief of Protocol of the United States on August 3, 2009.

All involved in the Office of Protocol are experts in this area. Protocol and the rules of decorum are critical in dealing within the international arena.

The pundits, neocon sycophants, and Republican haters of our President are not, yet they are spreading misinformation to those that are predisposed to believe their special form of sedition. News photos of President Barack Obama bowing to Japan’s emperor have gotten the neocons panties in a twist here, who said the US leader should stand tall when representing America overseas, as if the rules of protocol in international politics are something that Joe the Plumber can figure out as easy as the rules of a street fight.

International politics is not a street fight, and like all other specialties, there are highly specialized techniques and rules to adhere to,and the interpretation of the greeting traditionally is based on what the meaning of the gesture is in the foreign land.

Obviously President Obama’s blackness makes him an untraditional president, but that is not of his doing; it is what the bigots in and around the Republican party, and independents of their ilk are making it.I blame Rupert Murdoch mainly, and call for his deportation.

Characterizing a bow, which in many cultures is a greeting, as an act of contrition and weakness, is disingenuous on the part of the critics,irresponsible, and racist. What is more disturbing is the fact that these elite political Republican pundits know this, and have done similar gestures in their political and social life, and have participated, rightly so, in greeting foreign leaders in international lands, in a manner that is customary in that foreign land without being subjected to any ignorant racist re-interpretations.

In Japan, and every country and culture that bowing, rather shaking ones hand, is a common sign of respect, and Bill Kristol, world traveler and scholar, knows this.I find this statement by Kristol to be a racist slur against the great culture of Japan, and I demand that he apologize and detract his slur. His father must be rolling in his grave…

I clearly understand Kristol to be calling  the entire Japanese culture and Emporer as being ”weak” because of their custom of using the cultural bow as a greeting rather than a handshake. It is very clear that he is making a racial slur against the Japanese culture, and is an epic low in the history of the Republican party, and the Kristol legacy.

In light of the worldwide Swine- flu pandemic, I find the gesture by President Obama to be not only respectful to the Emporer of Japan and the Japanese people, but also a high-profile example of how not to spread the flu virus.

I understand the Republicans want us all to get sick, and die quickly.That is why they do not support Universal Healthcare, President Obama , or bowing.

They are irresponsibly promoting the shaking of hands as a strong gesture, rather than the what it truly is, …a conduit to spread the H1N1 virus  around the world, unchecked.This is their latest strategy to thwart universal healthcare.

If we all stop shaking hands and strongly bow to each other when we greet our friends, then that would curtail the mounting casualties from this disease that Mr. Kristol and the Republicans want us all to die from.

Some conservative critics juxtaposed the image of Obama with one of former US vice president Dick Cheney, who greeted the emperor in 2007 with a firm handshake but no bow.

Now, in the middle of a flu pandemic and a flu virus shortage,and the mounting casualties worldwide from the flu, whose example are you following…Dick Cheney’s or President Obama.

In order to be a true Republican, you must be willing to vote against your own self-interest, and strongly shake hands.

The Chief of Protocol for the United States specifically is directing the President to bow to world leaders, because it is a sign of respect in those countries, much like President W. Bush double cheek kiss on the face of the King of Saudi Arabia, and it is a way to promote a healthier custom in our own land.

The people actually in the driver’s seat running the country have to see the bigger picture, and they can not afford to act at their level in a base and uninformed manner.

Simple gestures around the world, mean different things from country to country, culture to culture. Informed people know that it is not relevant what the interpretation of a gesture means between two distinctly different cultures, and is not a fair or balanced measuring stick.

When informed people do this, their motivation can only be to stir up an insurrection in our land, by the uninformed citizens that believe them, and that is an act of treason.

I call for the department of justice to open an investigation into these charges against Bill Kristol and the other propagandist that spread this treason today about this Presidential bow, and I demand a retraction of the racist statement against the nation of Japan by the Republican party immediately.

I respectfully would like Kristol to explain his motivation for doing this against our country,or explain to the nation that he does not understand protocol.

If at this point he is not well versed in the rules of international protocol, then I would say that that would discredit his authority as a journalist, and his accomplishments as a journalist should not be recognized, and he should be diminished in the views of his peers.

He simply came to prominence on the lap of his daddy, who was the real talent in the family.Nepotism strikes again.

From the AFP comes this quote on the topic…. an unnamed, senior Obama administration official told the Politico.com news site that the president had simply been observing protocol.

“I think that those who try to politicize those things are just way, way, way off base,” the official told Politico.

“I don’t think anybody who was in Japan — who saw his speech and the reaction to it, certainly those who witnessed his bilateral meetings there — would say anything other than that he enhanced both the position and the status of the US, relative to Japan,” Politico wrote.

“It was a good, positive visit at an important time, because there’s a lot going on in Japan.”

Honoring a fellow world leader is and always will be a strong sign of respect, and has never been a sign of weakness, and I am embarrassed for all Americans that a political party of ours that is actively involved in governing our country, would launch such a vile a viscous slew of racial slurs against not only the Nation of Japan, but all Japanese people foreign and domestic.

It is truly a low point for our nation and for journalist and political pundits.

The Presidents example once again is the way to go.

The Republicans want to shake us all into our graves.

From my own personal experience as director of a staff of teachers for 16 years, I feel I understand well what “friendship in the workplace” is, how it feels, and what happens when it is undermined. I’ve seen the group accomplish amazing things when working collaboratively, in unison, in sync.

This week’s module was the most problematic thus far — I felt rather stumped up by the concept of “Critical Friends Group”, which was eventually explained to me as something “everyone knows [as a] protocol.” Well, I suppose I’m not always “everyone”, so I kind of missed the point.  I read through the posts people made about Lesson Study. I can’t really relate to it in my current world — but it does sound interesting…at best really helpful, at worst – just another time waster.

Back to the “friends” thing — perhaps I’m just unsettled with the term “Critical Friends Group”.  I’ve shared that it has a rather “forced” feeling, in spite of its noted value and potential. In one of the articles I read, a list was provided — “collaboration” was part of the concept “CFG”. There was a great deal more which went into it, of course.

I’m going to wrap this post up by saying that I’ve enjoyed tremendous friendship & collaboration within the workplace.  I’m not sure I’d be able to stay in a job which did not offer such an environment. I thrive on interaction, collaboration, communication, and meaningful contribution. Perhaps I’ve experienced CFGs…with a no-brand label.

In Professional Development: What Works, Zepeda outlines the purpose and process of a critical friends group.  “Critical friends groups (CFGs) are cross-curricular groups of teachers that meet once a month, focusing laser-like on student achievement through teaching practice” (Zepeda, 2008, p. 226).  The essential components of a CFG is that it is continual, focused on teacher’s teaching and student’s learning, and takes place in a small group of supportive, committed individuals (Zepeda, 2008).  The text also outlines a series of protocols and roles that can be exercised during a CFG meeting.

One of the key ideas presented in the discussion board this week was the fact that CFGs are different from traditional friendships because they are a ‘unnatural’ group that operates using protocols.  A traditional friendship evolves organically, and is not protected by protocols.  While some may find the CFG to be artificial, the protocol that protects the group actually enhances the learning experience for everyone involved.  While it may feel strange to have a discussion through a protocol, it will actually encourage ‘fierce’ conversations about teaching and learning.  A practiced and trained facilitator can moderate the discussion and ensure that the protocol is followed and professionalism is adhered to.

The name critical friends, refers to the focused, hard, ‘fierce’ conversations that happen during the CFG, and the group will go through a series of stages as they develop their relationships and build support for each other.  These groups are not intended to be a quick, one-shot professional development opportunity.  They are long, sustained interactions that will develop and grow over time, like any friendship should.  Many posts in the discussion board focused on the sustainability of the CFG, emphasizing that it is through sustained practice over months and years that real growth and learning will occur.  I am still unclear as to how long a CFG should be meeting before expecting to see results in improved student achievement.  So frequently, it seems that school improvement goals and other curricular initiatives focus on long-term growth.  It can be challenging to remember to stay the course, especially when things get difficult.

As I was reading this week, I was wondering about implementing a CFG at my school.  First, I would determine the level of interest amongst my colleagues, then meet a few times to determine the goals and decide on a protocol for ‘running’ the meetings.  The barriers I see to implementation of a ‘home-grown’ CFG is lack of a trained facilitator, lack of consistent time in the work day.  Since we currently don’t have time in the workday, this would be an ‘extra’ thing.  This would limit the longevity of the group, as well as the consistency of people meeting.  Despite these barriers, I think starting small and informal, even meeting 4 times by the end of the school year is a possible step toward developing a CFG.

The H1N1 Swine Flu virus knows no borders,has no boundaries, and has absolutely no respect for religious or cultural traditions.

This year at the annual Hajj to Mecca,  Four foreign pilgrims have died of swine flu, the Saudi Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

The Saudi Arabia Health Ministry  said none of the four foreign victims had been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, as has been recommended by The Health Ministry.

An official statement released by the ministry said all had underlying health problems, including cancer and respiratory illness, AFP news agency reported.

Three of the victims died in Medina and one in Mecca.

The BBC is reporting that….up to three million Muslims from around the world take part in the holy pilgrimage every year, but health officials have expressed fears that it could provide a breeding ground for the virus.

Authorities had tried to prepare for any outbreaks by installing thermal cameras at airports and sea terminals, deploying 15,000 additional health workers and ensuring hundreds of extra beds were available.

The Hajj (Arabic: حج‎ Ḥaǧǧ) is a pilgrimage to Mecca. It is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world,^[1] and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a moral obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to Allah (God).^[2] The pilgrimage occurs from the 7th to 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. The Health Minister has reported that there are 16 other people that have been diagnosed with swine flu and four remain in hospital in “critical condition”.

He added 12 others had recovered following treatment.

The Saudi government has recommended the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and children skip the Hajj this year.

The Saudi government has said all pilgrims need a certificate of vaccination before they can apply for a visa.

This is real people, and this disease is spreading worldwide,at a rapid pace.

I encourage everyone to get a H1N1 swine flu shot as soon as you can.The reports of any side effects are exaggerated, and will cause millions of people to perish from the lack of the vaccine.

Any paranoia surrounding any alledged complications from the shot are totally unsubstantiated, and if those people out there insist on not receiving the vaccine, then we as a society should only expect more mounting mass casualties from the swine flu, as exhibited this weekend, unfortunately in Mecca.

If it can happen in Mecca, it can happen anywhere.

Please everyone, wash your hands, and go get the shot.

Why am I not surprised.

Weight 159.  That is a gorgeous number.  But it’s only gorgeous until tomorrow.  Then I must have  new, lower and much more gorgeous number.  I was thinking about how much smaller I really am yesterday.  I wish I had been able to start this diet last spring.  I wish I would have had more self-control so that I didn’t have to lose so much more weight.  I wish a lot of things.  But this is my reality.  I have 34 more pounds to lose. 

My husband is starting to notice.  He really wasn’t able to tell until last week.  I would so be lying if I told anyone that he wasn’t my driving force in doing this diet.  He is.  I want him to be proud of me and I want our marriage to have that effect of a husband being really, wholly, totally in love with his wife.  I told him that I would do this years ago.  Now, I’m doing it.  And he loves it.  Really loves it. 

Again, my goals are re-evaluated.  I’m hoping to make it to 145 this round.  I will do another round in January after six weeks of maintenance.  It will be a full 45 day round to lose the last 20 pounds.

Miriam and Aaron had a problem. They didn’t like Moses’ wife. So they decided, “Hey, God has spoken through us. Moses isn’t the only person who hears from God around here. We don’t like the way he does things, so we’ll just handle it from here on our own.” Sound familiar? They knew they were leaders. They knew that God had used them to speak prophetically to the people. But what they didn’t know was that they were in direct violation of God’s protocol.

Protocol is a code of conduct; it involves the customs and regulations dealing with diplomatic formality, precedence, and etiquette. In other words, protocol is the way we are supposed to conduct ourselves. There is a right way to approach God, leadership, and our fellow man. A violation of these protocols results in allowing the spirit of strife loose in our lives.

God came down in a cloud and chastised Miriam and Aaron. Yes, it was true that God spoke to His prophets through dreams and visions, but God spoke with Moses face-to-face. God asked the jealous siblings, “What were you thinking? Moses is the one I have appointed as leader. Why did you think you could speak against my leadership? Do you think I won’t do anything about that?” And He did…Miriam was instantly struck leprous.

Aaron repented for their insubordination, and Miriam was healed after a time of confinement outside the camp. But watch what happened next. In the 13th chapter of Numbers, Moses sends the 12 spies into the Promised Land to bring back a report. We know what happened…ten of them brought back an evil report and the whole nation of Israel rebelled against God, resulting in forty years of wandering and death in the wilderness. Where did that come from? It came from a violation of protocol. The people had been complaining about their leadership from the time they left Egypt. Even their leaders began to complain about Moses. Their words and actions were in violation of God’s protocol.

We must watch our words and our attitudes towards others. If we don’t guard our hearts and our mouths, we open the door to strife. If we break protocol by speaking against leadership, whether it is in the home, the workplace, the community, or in church, then we open the door for strife to destroy us and those around us. Let’s purpose in our hearts to do as the Bible commands: to love and pray for one another and for those in rulership over us. When we DO the Word, we close the door to the spirit of strife in our lives.

Perception is everything and is the sole factor as to how people are viewed in life.  Whether in the work place or just out and about, the way a person chooses to carry his/herself is looked on as a spectator’s sport from those around that create their own deductions from what they believe they see.

As Snoop Dogg continues to promote his upcoming release Malice N Wonderland, there has been misrepresented perception as it pertains to a song titled “Protocol” where he raps such lyrics as:

“Gangstas don’t kiss, we get old and get rich.”

And

“We hit licks and gang bang/ You on some T-Pain sh*t.”

Of course initial perception is to draw a negative connotation from such words and so was the case as many were under the belief that such lyrics were going at Lil Wayne’s head.

Speaking on Shade 45’s Lip Service, Snoop addressed the false claims and added that he’s not one to throw subliminal shots.

“I’m not fin to shoot at your shoes or shoot at your spot where your baby momma at, I’m fin to take your mother**kin neck off.  I don’t have no problems with rappers, that was me speaking in general.  If a n**ga feel offended or feel froggish, leap mother**cka.”

Looked at, as being Uncle Snoop, he added that time has progressed, and he’s not at the same place to want to go at someone’s neck.

“I don’t ever make diss songs, I make hit songs.”

Snoop also offered a simple problem solver if such confusion ever arises again.

“When those feel that I’m directing the finger at them, come get at me.  I ain’t hard to get at, I’m everywhere.”

The Doggfather did state that there is only one thing that could possibly make him step back into the ring once again and battle in the ring.

“I’m so far in the game where if I was to get into a battle with a n*gga, he couldn’t f*ck with me just because of the longevity that I’ve been in the game.  It would only be exciting if it was a bad a*s fresh new n*gga or he was an old ass n*gga like me that’s still fresh.  Other than that, it wouldn’t make no sense.”

People are always looking for a reason to cause some type of hostility or tension.  It’s almost as though it has become a primal instinct.  Perception has been used for negativity as some choose to search for the bad before they can mentally conceive anything positive about another.

Next time there’s a question, make sure to raise a hand for the answer and not fabricate what you believe should be the truth.
