Al parecer Sony tiene proyectado un nuevo servicio dentro de la PSN por subscripcion, no se ha especificado que contenidos incluirá, pero segun declaraciones del CEO de SCE Kaz Hirai, seguirá siendo gratis el poder jugar online, les cito su declaración:

“SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral, and PlayStation Network,” Hirai said in a statement given to British outlets, such as CVG. “Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.” (Emphasis added.)

Como pueden leer, Hirai dice que Sony, aumentara la oferta de entretenimiento en combinación de hardware, software y la PSN, especialmente en el servicio online, en el cual están estudiando ofrecer un contenido y servicios premiun, ademas de los actuales servicios gratis.

Así que no estén preocupados porque empiecen a cobrar por jugar online, dudo que sony sea tan estúpido como para empezar a cobrar por algo en lo que se han distinguido y que ha sido una de las cosas por las que algunos (como yo, no pienso pagar un solo peso por jugar online) prefieren al PS3.

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada has some startling revelations about the video game industry. Unfortunately he’s a couple of years late. Speaking with MCV, Wada speaks of a complete change to how we play our games, with the possibility of making consoles obsolete. He believes in as little as ten years time, sever-powered, streaming games and those that are digitally distributed will replace disc-based formats. We almost have that now with PSN, XBLA and Steam but Wada also thinks that the hardware we play those on won’t be needed as everything will be run on some distant server hooked into our TVs. He added that Sony and Microsoft, in his opinion, have altered their ways for such a shift and Square Enix are doing the same by concentrating on social and browser based games. Let’s not forger the MMO that will be Final Fantasy XIV which SE are paying particular interest in how successful the beta in 2010 will be.

There’s no doubt about a change from disc to digital distribution with Sony trying out that very method thanks to the PSPgo which, for whatever reason, is failing. That suggests this change may be longer than Wada’s “ten years time” as the platform holders figure out the best way of initiating such a shift. It is difficult to imagine either Sony or Microsoft relinquishing their grip on the video game industry by allowing another format to play their games – similar to the idea that one day there’ll be only one console even though the market and platforms are more diverse than they’ve ever been.

Ambos os jogos terão ranking de jogadores e co-op online e devem estar disponíveis em 2010.

No seriously, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gives you that feeling that you are fighting for territory.

That every kill counts in the grander scale of things, that while you cautiously push forward or even make a daring renegade dash for the enemies base that you are making difference.

I’d been playing and enjoying the multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2 for a few weeks when I stumbled upon a link to a site offering access to the beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Needless to say I leapt at the chance.

Graphically the game is stunning, despite the level being mainly desert – it has three sections to fight through, each with a slightly different flavour – and the destruction of buildings is something to marvel at (not for too long though or someone will kill you ).

The gameplay is as you’d expect, likewise with the controls – fairly standard.

They seem to have pitched it between Killzone 2’s more realistic heavy handling and Modern Warfare 2’s almost comedic light handling, which is (in my opinion) just about the right balance.

The inclusion of a selection of vehicles (tanks/jeeps/quads etc) is a great touch that adds to the proceedings.

There are a few problems – mainly a seemingly invisible force pushing you back (could be done on purpose if it’s supposed to be desert wind but still a bit annoying) and also the occasional glitch leaving me unable to walk or stuck trying to get in a door (which I was also actually having in the finished product of Modern Warfare 2 )

However it’s the beta so I’m guessing those will be straightened out by the time of release.

You get a few classes to choose from, all regular stuff (Medic, Engineer etc) – not sure how many different classes there will be in the final product.

However it’s the aforementioned destruction damage that means that nearly every round is different.

You can’t have a regular hiding place, at least not for long, because chances are if there is a hint that you’re there tank shells or grenades will destroy whatever cover you have.

For the record I have to also say that the beta is only one level and one game mode! Yes, it’s this good and that is all I’ve played.

I honestly haven’t touched Modern Warfare 2 since I played this.

To give this some perspective I offer a further viewpoint as well as my own.

A work colleague who is also on this beta said, having played multiplayer of both games, “I don’t think I’ll bother picking up Modern Warfare 2 now, might as well play this, it’s much better.”

I cannot praise it enough and I just hope it can maintain this level of awesomeness until, and beyond, it’s release in March 2010.

So i pick up Borderlands about a month ago, (after much resistance from the world being unable to get my hands on a copy for 4 or 5 days after release) and head home for what i think is going to be a day of playing and grinding by myself, and what do you know; my fiance asks if she can try it with me since she wants to spend time with me.

Thinking she wouldn’t enjoy it much, we throw the game in and gear up for a long and dangerous journey through Pandora. What a place to behold! with so many different and varied locations, tight controls, and intense firefights, she and i latched on to the “one more mission” addictive quality of the RPG/FPS hybrid.

We’ve played more of this game since picking it up, than I’ve spent with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (a game i’ve been awaiting for a year). I haven’t even thought about Modern Warfare 2 yet!

Clocking in at about 20 hours or so, we are two-thirds of the way through ALL of the missions (including the side missions) and have downloaded the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned for when we complete this.

A completely engaging experience, with that “one more level”, “one more mission” setup, Borderlands is filled with guns you couldn’t even imagine, more loot than a Diablo II fanatic would know what to do with, and beautifully realized visuals filled with color and life unlike the majority of shooters, and post apocalyptic locales we’ve seen as of late. There is very little to complain about. Some texture pop-in, detail sometimes takes time to load into a newly entered area, long load screens (though this has been tweaked with a PSN update) and a confusing mission structure ( nothing seems to show you if you’re on a main or a side mission), are still not reason to ignore this game.

This is a title that all can enjoy, with a little push out of their comfort zone.

Naughty Dog have revealed that they are releasing the first downloadable content for their spectacular pulp adventure game, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, this Friday, November 27th.

Entitled “Fort,” the new multi-player map is based on “The Fortress” chapter of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.  Along with the free map, Naughty Dog is having a Double Cash weekend, with special skins for the teams: Doughnut Drake for the Heroes, and Doughnut Lazarevic for the villains.

Scotland’s very own Proper Games, developer of the brilliant Xbox Live Arcade title Flock! has today revealed that it is working on a revamped version of Capcom’s scrolling beat-em-up Final Fight for 2010.

The game will be available as a digital download via Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Store under the name Final Fight: Double Impact, which includes a glorious HD version of the original arcade smash, along with a second game, Capcom’s fantasy side-scroller Magic Sword.

So far no price has been revealed, but if you haven’t had a chance to play Final Fight before, I strongly recommend that you do when this tasty twin-pack lands next year.

Activision Blizzard is getting sued, and the filer is none other than the infamous Erik Estavillo. Estavillo has previously filed law suits against Microsoft; Sony and Nintendo, for various reasons, all of them rejected.

The issue this time is Estavillo’s claim that the game progression in World of Warcraft is deliberately set at a low pace, to make sure that playes stay longer in the game and pay their monthyly fee. Estavillo especially makes a point of his character’s walking speed, for some reason.

I wonder if anybody really had any doubts that this is part of the game design. Of course Blizzard designed the game to keep players hooked. Anything else would be terrible game design and a complete mockery of the marketing department.

Obviously, Estavillo is also a complete video game addict, relying heavily on video games for the little ongoing happiness he has left in his life.

Sad story, no doubt about it. Perhaps he should see a psychiatrist?

Para aquellos que estan jukeaos con BORDERLANDS (como el CREW de PSNPR y YO) y estan buscando un cambio de ambiente fuera del wasteland tengo buenas noticias. Gearbox Software lanzó hoy en el PSN el primer DLC para este adictivo juego titulado “La Isla Zombie del Dr. Ned”. A un costo de $9.99 añadiran un área nueva llamada “Jakobs Cove”, ésta contendrá nuevos enemigos (ZOMBIES!!) y nuevas misiones que expandirán su visita a Pandora de 6-8 horas adicionales.

Ahora si me lo permiten, me voy a cazar ZOMBIES.

Muchos rumores son los que corren sobre Sony y PSN por la red, uno de los más populares y que han hecho saltar la alarma de miles de usuarios es sobre que Sony planea poner de pago los servicios de su PlayStation Network, que hasta ahora a sido siempre gratis, de pago. Según los rumores este nuevo plan habría sido presentado por la multinacional japonesa en la última reunión de inversores.

Con esta medida planean incrementar el volúmen de sus ingresos, o dicho de forma más clara: para ganar mas dinero a costa de nosotros.

Queremos recordaros que esto es solo un rumor y no hay ninguna prueba de que esto sea cierto, así que no cunda el pánico.

SEGA of America Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. can today announce that a demo for the much anticipated third person action title BAYONETTA will be released on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network in the US and across Europe on December 3rd.

Para todos aquellos que no tienen cuenta japonesa o simplemente les dio weba crearla para bajar el demo (o un tema dinámico de Afrika bien cotorro) de Bayonetta, no teman, SEGA ha anunciado que el mismo demo estará disponible en la PlayStation Store América y Europea el 3 de Diciembre de este año.

Ya hemos visto varias cosas sobre Bayonetta, de hecho ya conocemos casi todo, la mayoría de los dueños de un PS3 se sintieron ofendidos  e inclusive dijeron que no comprarían el juego cuando se mostro el video y las imágenes de la comparación gráfica con la versión de Xbox 360, siendo esta la mejor debido a que Platinum Games no se encargo del desarrollo total de la versión de PS3, a qué va esto, bueno la verdad me gustaría preguntarles lo siguiente: ¿Si ambas versiones fueran iguales (con las mismas gráficas y sin errores), comprarían este juego?

Enserio sería bueno que respondan.
