This is my first blog. What a big step. A curl(e)y haired lad just giving a bit of thought on the important things in life; football, politics, history.

Actually none of those things.

More like; games, phones and other sciencey things that I like. Maybe some T.V and film reviews. Almost definately football, I lied.

So what to talk about… I guess the last game I played- Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.
I’ve had my PS Vita now for about 6 months. Its brilliant, well, it doesn’t have a great range of games, but it’s great just to look at- who uses it to play games anyway?! oh right…
So i’ve waited ever so long to get my hands on this game, and it’s finally at a price I can afford (tight bastard, £22 preowned). I get home and can’t wait to start the story.

Let me set the scene, I borrow my mates Xbox 360 to play the original assassins creed-shit.
I get assassins creed 2 for my Ps3 years later- Amazing
I get assassins creed brotherhood for my ps3- amazing
I get assassins creed revelations for my ps3- confused.
I’m a pretty big fan of the series.

So I get my hands on this game and can’t wait to play it, only it doesn’t feel right. It’s just not good… Within the first few minutes I assassinate someone, but instead of a lovely cutscene esq visual, i’m met with my character aveline killing thin air when a man resurrects himself and walks through a wall as a transformed NPC. I’m beginning to think i’m playing an old PS2 game. I persist with the game but it doesn’t really cut the mustard as far as the AC games go really. Nevermind, i’ve sold it on eBay and got some of my money back.

I personally think that no one should buy this game, unless that it’s the only game you feel you want to play next on the Vita- use it as a last resort. As for me, I think Persona 4 Golden will be the next on the list. Maybe. If the price comes down. A lot.

Oh, if you’re wondering why the was red text, im a Liverpool fan. If you don’t know what that is, Google ‘Champions League 2005 Final‘. You’ll see what I mean.

My next post will most likely be about the T.V. show, Brass Eye, something which I recently stumbled upon.

* Create folders to more easily manage your favorite application icons on the home screen, with up to 10 icons in each folder and a maximum of 100 on the home screen (including icons inside the folders).
* Verify which PS Vita card you are using by looking at the home screen’s info bar. You can also save the layout of your home screen icons in the memory card.
* Added video support allows you to play videos within the browser (memory card required; some videos are not supported).
* New email enhancements allows you to view HTML messages, add multiple email addresses to your contacts, and easily search your messages using the new search feature.
* PlayStation Plus members will be able to automatically update PlayStation Mobile format software and upload game save data onto online storage using 3G connection.
* New “Mute Automatically” option will mute your PS Vita speakers when your headset is unplugged and pause your music when using the music app.

Batman is probably the most famous super hero around videogames, with two games absolutely stunning, so “Arkham Origins” is great news!
There isn’t alot of information about the game yet, but we can tell it promises to be big, keeping most of the main aspects from past games, so players will be familiar with controls and tactics, as well as it will bring some new moves and skills such as the “Remote Claw” that allows you to target two enemies, shoot them and then pull them against each other. About the map, it promises to be about the double as seen in “Arkham City”, as well as Batman will have plenty to do, in side quests and detective “jobs”.

Between all the news and updates, it has been confirmed that main antagonist to stand on Batman’s way is the well known Black Mask, which goal is to hunt Batman among Gotham’s outlaw population.

Excited? You’ll still have to wait some months, as Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (a spin-off for Nintendo 3DS and Vita) will both be released on 25th October, this year, on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and WiiU. In the meanwhile, take a look at this video that teases the next GameInformer cover featuring Batman: Arkham Origins!

Let me start off by saying Hi! Sorry I have been away for so long but some recent changes in my life

Let me start off by saying Hi! Sorry I have been away for so long but some recent changes in my life created a creative block. 2013 seems to be shaping up and with it I thought; why not bring back the LTAP; better late than never I suppose. I wish I was coming back on a positive note, alas the game I most recently played is one literally, for the dogs.

Released on August 17th 2010 and developed by IO interactive the studio behind the hitman games KAL2 seemed to be a game built for me; a short 3rd person shooter with a grand story and short play clock. I purchased this game in late 2010 and played it for the first time last week on my PC.

Waddaya Playin

This game was played on a desktop and was purchased via steam for 4.99. You can find the game in the bargain bin at most Electronic stores.

Two guys just going out for a bite

VISUALS: Weird, weird, weird. So the game is played in the 3rd person and it appears that a camera man is following you throughout the roads of Shanghai; yet when a chapter is over the Camera man mysteriously disappears. This can be a bit jarring and caused me to have a couple “WTF” moments. Another issue I had with this 1980′s camera approach was intense screen tearing; intentional screen tearing, like when a finger print would get on the film of a cassette. While I see what they were going for, the bands across the screen were nothing more than a cheap trick that scared me for a second as I thought my monitor was broken. The graphics were subpar with characters looking fairly similar and all the locations being some variation of wet and grey.

STORY: You are playing as Kane and Lynch two buddies who happen to be guns for hire. The story starts with them meeting in Shanghai and one small mishap spirals into a four hour bullet slog. There are ups and downs in pace but the story does nothing except break up the gun fights. While this game does add a sense of tension and a chapter that was incredibly gruesome I feel the friendship mentality could have been tapped into a little more especially at the end a la Army of two. The end of this game was an absolute mess by the way (No Spoilers) but my word did it just fade to black.

GAMEPLAY: This is where the game truly fell apart for me. For a 3rd person shooter that is supposed to be a duck and cover game the cover mechanic was abysmal. Sometimes my character would not even stick to a wall or he would read the wrong wall and run across the level. The other aspect of the game the “shooter” aspect was just as appalling. Machine guns were worthless in this game as it almost appeared that my bullets were flying backwards, Head shots did not count unless you were using a sniper, and Shotguns have the range of Rocket Launchers. I could excuse one of the mechanics but not both. As stated above the Camera is also a huge issue here as it gives you this faux 2nd person view for a 3rd person shooter. There were times where I simply could not see anyone but I was getting ripped to shreds.

The Dog Days are over

TEST OF TIME: NOPE! This game should not be played end of story. It was less than 4 hours long and it was poorly executed on all levels.

BROS: SKIP! Do not walk, RUN!

This game can be found for a couple bucks on Steam and Amazon but again; No means No. Support the Developer and buy another game from them just not this one!

Reality Fighters was to me a fun buy off the psn for a decent price. The game has a mortal kombat fighting style without the blood and gore. The name itself scared me I was thinking a compilation of reality tv shows as fighters but its far from it. The game uses augmented reality to form your character along with backgrounds using your psvita’s front and rear camera.

When you start, the game will use your vita’s camera to photograph your face using facial recognition and create a player that looks like you. It also uses the rear facing camera to create the background for your fight, an example would be your fighter doing a battle on your kitchen table. The game is not without flaws, camera angles during fighting makes it hard to keep track of where your character is, sometimes being completely out of screen and you have to spin the vita around your room to keep up. There is many, many fighting styles and alot to unlock costume wise. As with other fighting games it does become boring pretty quick. If your looking to do multiplayer it does have adhoc and psn infrastructure which in infrastructure mode I find myself never finding anyone else in the world playing. If your looking for a cheap way to have fun Reality Fighters does that but not very long.

Crossovers are a trend nowadays, so after Project X Zone (fighting/action/RPG crossover among SEGA, Namco Bandai and Capcom) and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Stars Battle (fighting with all the characters from the eight JoJo’s series), now it’s time for J-Stars Victory VS.

The game, exclusive for PS3 and PS Vita and now only announced for a Japanese release, should be a fighting game featuring characters from four of the major Shonen Jump series. So it won’t be like Jump Ultimate Stars, but it will feature warriors only from One Piece, Naruto, DragonBall and Toriko.

The game is still in TBA release date and probably will never see the light outside Japan (mainly because of the west-unknown Toriko), but for now enjoy the trailer.

As you all know SqaureEnix is getting a new president as of June. The new President to be Yosuke Matsuda says that he is going to over look the company and sees what they are really need to focus on in order to get back on track. Teh restructuring of SquareEnix means that people might lose their jobs as those in their Los Angles location did. This comes with the fact that projects that aren’t working will be stopped. For games that are limbo like versus or type 0 it is unclear as to what will happen to them as for all we know they could be producing but not sharing that information as they feel it isn’t ready. The only thing i see Yosuka doing is giving what we need on the games themselves a defiant answer as to their fate.

If I didn’t know better, I’d say Sony was actually trying to sell some Vitas. Curve Stud

If I didn’t know better, I’d say Sony was actually trying to sell some Vitas. Curve Studios’ Thomas Was Alone, an indie puzzle platformer for the PC and MAC is making their way to the PS3 and PSVita. They’re also working on Stealth Bastard, a stealth puzzle platformer. These games will be out this Summer.

This is the reason I bought a Vita. I enjoy the PSOne classics, and the the Metal Gear and Persona remakes, but I would love to see more indie titles on the device. I like the games they have on the PSN, and a handheld that plays games like Deathspank, Bastion and Journey would be amazing. They’re adding Hotline Miami and that’s a good look. I hope they keep it up.

What’s up folks! Here’s the info you need to sustain your “NEW” gaming fix.

What’s up folks! Here’s the info you need to sustain your “NEW” gaming fix. so… LET’S GET STARTED!

For the PS3 & Xbox 360 we have Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is a third-person shooter video game developed by the Montreal branch of Visceral Games and set to be released on March 26, 2013 by Electronic Arts for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is the third game in the Army of Two series, following 2008′s Army of Two and 2010′s Army of Two: The 40th Day. The game takes place in Mexico and pits T.W.O. against a ruthless drug cartel known as La Guadaña (Spanish for “the Scythe”). It is the first game in the series to run on the Frostbite 2 game engine where as the previous two ran on Unreal Engine 3. The demo for the game was released on March 13, 2013. It was the last game developed by Visceral Montreal.

Being released for the PS3, Xbox 360, P.C., & PsVita, (It will be released for Mac OS X this summer) we have BioShock Infinite. BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter video game and the third installment in the BioShock series. Previously known as “Project Icarus”, it wasbeing developed by Irrational Games. BioShock Infinite is not part of the storyline of previous BioShock games but features similar gameplay concepts and themes. Set in 1912 during the growth of American Exceptionalism, the game’s protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for the last twelve years.

Now we have a PSP release called Class of Heroes II. Class of Heroes II is a charming take on the Wizardry-style dungeon crawl games, but with a twist – all the party members are drawn from a pool of newly enrolled students at a Sword and Sorcery School. The game features 10 classes to choose from: Novice, Fighter, Swordsman, Ranger, Monk, Ninja, Sorcerer, Puppeteer, Idol, and one Mystery Class. Once a team is created, quests are offered and the party can choose their adventure path, unlocking ever more distant and dangerous areas to conquer as they grow in power and confidence. Monster parties can be more than one level deep in a single combat episode, leading to epic encounters of up to 12 or more monsters at a time, where managing a party’s ranged and melee skills can be the difference between victorious life and an ignominious death.

Terraria is an action-adventure/RPG indie game released by independent game studio Re-Logic available via the Steam Store. Terraria is noted for its classic exploration-adventure, similar to titles such as Metroid. The game has a tile-based graphical style reminiscent of the 16-bit sprites found on the SNES.

For the game Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 (on PS3,Steam, & Xbox 360) we have new DLC, this DLC is called Siberian Strike.

We got a new P.C. release titled Dungeon Hearts. Dungeon Hearts could best be described as a blend of the ever-escalating pace of Canabalt, the puzzle/action hybrid style of Puzzle Quest, and the nostalgia of old-school Japanese RPG’s such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. A brave party of adventurers dashes quickly from battle to battle, using a match-3 puzzle system to defeat their opponents. Mastering the balance between offense and defense is key. Between each battle, the player must quickly level up the warriors, as each encounter is more difficult than the last. As the party wades through wave after wave of enemies, they must adapt to the twists and turns thrown at them as the gameplay evolves. If they can survive long enough, they may encounter the Dark One himself!

And here is aJapanese import of the Nintendo 3DS e-Shop game known in Japan as Rhythm Hunter: Harmo Knight, now know as HarmoKnight. GAME FREAK inc. brings all of the polish players have come to expect from their Pokemon franchise to a brand-new action-packed rhythm game! Use Tempo’s Music Note Staff to beat drums, crash cymbals, and smack enemies through more than 50 levels with unique boss fights. On your journey, you’ll team up with multiple characters like Lyra, who can slide under obstacles and shoot musical arrows, and Tyko, who can pound out powerful beats with his drums! More challenging speeds and unlockable stages await those locked onto the beat. Feel the music and find your rhythm to save Melodia!

And last but not least we have a new P.C. MMO titled End of Nations. End of Nations is an upcoming MMORTS video game for Microsoft Windows. It is being developed by Petroglyph Games and published by Trion Worlds. It is anticipated to combine the action and strategy of a traditional real-time strategy game (RTS) with the persistence, progression and social features of a massively multiplayer online game. End of Nations will incorporate traditional MMO elements including a massive persistent world, character progression, class selection, crafting, and guild functionality. The game plot starts as character Pierre Frenay who was a member of the French Resistance during World War Two who saw the United Nations (UN) and the world governments as useless in preventing conflict and suffering. As such, he founded a secret organization to undermine and destabilize the governments of the world, which operated within the UN itself. Through terrorist attacks, assassinations, and orchestrated disasters, the organization hoped to discredit and dismantle the governments of the world so that it could bring all of the countries, their territories, and their people, under their fold.

Phantasy Star Online 2 was expected for an “early 2013″ release in the west, as long the game is available in Japan since last July. But it’s almost April and still no game. So yesterday a Sega Of America spokesman stated:

“Originally slated for an early 2013 launch, Sega can officially confirm that PS02 has been delayed. We don’t have any specifics but will update everyone as soon as there are more details to share.”

It seems that the delay is due to localization issues, but that’s just a rumor. Said so, it looks like we have to wait a bit longer before be able to play this awesome J-RPG in a non-Japanese language, but if you’re so impatient you can always use the free-to-play japanese version.

Yeej,
