So, the day of being paid came, and in the process, I ended up with two free consoles, and two cheap

So, the day of being paid came, and in the process, I ended up with two free consoles, and two cheap consoles (£20 each including games). The first was a PS1 as documented before, then after work I visited my friend Martyn to go fetch the Megadrive he was giving me

Megadrive

Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Coolspot, Aladdin and Cannon Fodder came with the bugger, and it’s just like being a kid again . I have ordered Earthworm Jim, Thunderforce II and Jungle Strike for the beast as well. The only slight issue I’m having is the RF cable is ever so slightly dodgy, but over time I may get/do the S-Video upgrade on it so that it will be better quality and shouldn’t have these dodgy cable issues.

Obviously Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 are classics, I’ve not really touched the other three yet, but my thoughts will be known in time.

Xbox

I went after visting my friend Martyn, to someone called Steve to fetch his Xbox, for 20 whole english pounds. The console had not been used in a long time, so this was a bit of a bargain for me. Theres a few games with, some I will probably get rid of (Fifa 03, and NHL 03, 04 and 05), but Halo, Toca Race Driver, PGR etc, it’s got some beasts

The only thing I need to look into on this is if the 360 and the original Xbox can share the same Xbox live account, so that I don’t have to have a silver account on the Xbox, or just not go online with it.

Sega Saturn

BEAST! I’ve kinda wanted one of these for years. I’ve been a Sega fan for many years, I’ve owned a Master System that didn’t get much play, but the Megadrive brought my love of gaming to the fore originally, and I’ve always had a soft spot for Sega ever since. I got this from someone on Gumtree (like Craigslist in the UK, not quite as well known but definitely useful), it came with a fair few games (Sega Rally and Sega Touring Car boxed, and a CD wallet with games like Virtua Cop, Tomb Raider, Enemy Zero, Command And Conquer etc), and an RGB Scart cable.

It has highlighted how much games have developed in the years since the thing came out, but at the same time, it also proves that great graphics do not equal great games, as some of the games are more fun than most next gen stuff.

I will get more games over time. I’m definitely wanting to get Nights Into Dreams, Daytona USA, Sonic R, Clockwork Knight, and then I’ll look into RPGs and Shooters once I have what I consider my essentials sorted.

Overall, not a bad haul for one day to say the least, especially to say I paid £40 in total yesterday, and have 4 more consoles and about 25 more games, maybe more. To say I’m a happy bunny is an understatement

Next up: Nintendo consoles. I’ve only ever owned one N64, and nothing else by Nintendo. This definitely has to change. As much as I’ve been a Sega and Sony fan for years, I still liked EVERY games company (even Microsoft now), so definitely time to go for it.

Oh and….

Well….this day will provide FOUR consoles (yes, FOUR). I now have in my possession due to a kind friend at work, original Playstation.

It has a beautiful camo paint job by himself, and will take lovely pride of place somewhere in my house

The main reason I got an original PSX is for the fact that I want to get it modded so I can play import games, like Xenogears and Chrono Cross.

So without further ado, here’s the beast: -

STILL WITH BOX

Beautiful paint job

So I shall plug this beauty into my Panasonic plasma tonight, in the midst of the other consoles, and give everything a good run through

So I’m thinking of putting together a little LAN party/game gathering, but with consoles.

Given that 360s, PS3s, Wii’s, Xboxs, and whatever else have ethernet/wireless available, using a PC isn’t strictly needed to have a mass gathering.

I’ll be able to provide the networking gear, but depending on how many people are coming, I need to see whether this can be based in a home, or has to be at a place rented out.

The following games would probably be good for it I’m guessing: -

Any of the Halo games (1 2 or 3)

Borderlands (if anyone has it)

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Forza 2 and/or 3

Gears Of War

Burnout Paradise

Race Driver: Grid

Red Faction: Guerilla

Colin Mcrae: Dirt

I guess the Call Of Duty’s could be involved (I don’t own any of them, but could get one)

I can also work on trying to link together other systems (Dreamcasts, PS2s, etc), and have mini tournaments for those that cant be linked for everyone.

The only requirements really would be bring console, and if possible bring your own TV too, even just a 14″ CRT or something like that, as long as it works and your eyes dont burn off using it

I’m mainly looking for people receptive to the idea, to either help out, or if you just wanna be part of it, and also suggestions as to what games to play, and other stuff.

I am well versed in PC/Linux setup and networking, so in terms of an infrastructure, there is nothing to worry about there, I can set that up, hell it may even be possible to have a local version of Xbox Live/PSN, I’ll take a look into that.

So yeah, if you are in the Rotherham/Sheffield area in the UK, and wanna get involved, join in, or just wanna heckle, go for it.

Sign up to the forum and discuss which games should be involved, whether you are interested, or anything else related

Rename the ~/.asoundrc and/or /etc/asound.conf files to something else.

There you go Simple isn’t? To think I uninstalled the WHOLE PulseAudio suite so many times just to make pSX work… tsk… : /

If the above doesn’t work, try this.

Feine Sache!

I’ve been itching to do some game reviews for a while now, so I’ll give this a go.

I’ll be making reviews of games mostly on the Xbox 36o, but I will make reviews on games on other platforms as well. The platforms you can expect to see reviews on are: Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PSX and the PC.

Just as a warning: I won’t be making reviews of PS3 games. I don’t have enough cash for one and most games on it are multi-platformers, though I’d love to play PS3 games like MGS4 or Uncharted and maybe even review them.

So, without further pointless chit-chat, the first review will be on the Xbox 360 game, Condemned Criminal Origins.

In a strange plot twist, I decided to make two blog posts in one week. Crazy.

Today I’m going to take a look at the PSone, or Playstation Slim that I got a while back.

The PSone was released in 2000 as a redesign for the original Playstation. It was considerably smaller and white. More importantly, however, is that it gave gamers the option to add a Sony supported LCD screen attachment to the console itself. This gave the console more portability, as it could be played anywhere as long as an outlet was available.

Original PS1 (left), PSone (right)

I have to say, the PSone is a really neat piece of technology. The screen attachment works well, and I get to use the console like I would a handheld gaming device before I go to bed. Admittedly, the only reason one would even want a PSone these days is for the screen attachment, as I’m sure just about everyone reading this blog at least owns one PS1 player in the form of a PS1, PS2 or PS3.

The screen attachment allows you to adjust the volume and brightness settings at any time with the press of a button.

The hardware itself is very lightweight, making it nearly as mobile as a handheld as mentioned earlier. Aesthetically, it looks pretty sleek, especially compared to other devices that were released at the time.

That’s about all I have to say on the subject. I can’t say that I’d recommend the PSone to everyone, because as mentioned earlier, just about every gamer has a PS1 player. The screen attachment makes the console infinitely more valuable, especially if:

A) you’re young and go on a lot of long car rides

B) you have 30-60 minutes between classes in college and want to play PS1 games

C) you haven’t hacked your PSP to play ripped PS1 games

At the very least, the PSone + screen combo pack comes at a very cheap price on eBay.

Now, if only Sony followed their own lead and released a PS2 screen attachment…

I love to play and capture classic games and share the videos with others on the internet, but I prefer to play Next Generation Games (what a stupid word for games released in the last 5 years) for myself.

Uncharted for the PS3 is one of this games that got my full attention since I have it. There was not a single game in the last 5 years that I enjoyed playing that much. Uncharted 2 is out for some weeks now and I started to like the idea to reach the 100% on the first game. I cant remember when I was trying the last time to get a game 100% complete.

Read more about an old flame that has started to burn again in my heart.

100% and nobody cared about it

In my younger days I had a lot of time to play games and to finish them 100%. But honestly… the old era of games did not support any achievement or trophy system that you could share with the world. Nobody cared about my speedruns for Resident Evil 2 on the PSOne.
Playing multiple times through every scenario to reach the well hidden superweapon and to unlock the 3rd and 4th survivor scenarios. No system took a note about successfully accomplished challenges. Some people captured their gameplay on VHS video to share their challenges with the world. Others captured screenshots and lot of other people could not do anything like that.
But now almost every console features internet connection and ranking systems. A new era began: Do and share!

Do and share!

The Xbox gives you achievements, the PS3 rewards you with trophies and the Wii.. (I dont care.. I never was a fan of Nintendo). Now its possible to accomplish different tasks inside your favourite games to get one of this achievements and trophies.
Now there is a reason to take on the challenges to replay a game as much as you want to get every hidden secret the game offers. No more using VHS cassettes or screenshots. You dont even need to capture your gameplay anymore, because the new consoles automatically save your progress and share the results with others.

I want to know it,

I want to know if I can do it again and complete a video game with 100%. My first attempt is Uncharted and I am near to get what I desire. Only 2 Treasures needed for Master Fortune Hunter, and only 3 chapters on Crushing Difficulty stand between me and all trophies.
But the most crushing part of the game needs to be solved tomorrow: The Chapter “Race to Rescue” or how I would call it: “A Race of Survival” because this chapter already was a pain in my ass on the Hard Difficulty. I am very sorry about not to capture me playing this part. But I dont have the hard and software to record from a video game console.

In the end

But its good to know that I can share the results with you. Maybe you will see a shiny 100% when following this link to my trophy list of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune soon.

Graphics
Graphical Jump: This is basically the game that either took the system into the next generation, or simply displayed what the system is truly capable of for the first time.

Technical Excellence: This is the game that probably didn’t come out until way later. But it pushed the system to its limits and brought it as close to the next generation as possible.

Creative Vision: This is the game whose graphics stood out as unique for whatever reason. Whether it’s the art style or art direction, it makes the game’s graphics stand out from the rest of its kind.

Worst Graphics: This is that ugly game. Whether it’s because of bad 3D models, bad textures, bad sprites, or simply because the developers had their own Creative Vision that ended up a train wreck. Whatever the case, it made this game look like crap.

GAMEPLAY:
Fun Factor: Twisted Metal 2
I think multiplayer gaming lost me as soon as it went online. Why would I want to play with a bunch of assholes I don’t know, can’t see, who can mouth off all they want without any consequences? The point is, some of the funnest games I’ve played were fun because of their multiplayer feature, but in every case, it required the second player to be in the room with you. Such was the case with Twisted Metal 2. I used to play it at this place where you pay money, they sit you down at a PlayStation and let you play for a limited amount of time. Kinda like an Arcade, but with consoles. And there was never a dull moment with Twisted Metal 2. It’s an over the top car combat game with some outrageous designs. It was very, very explosive and always fun. Match after match of explosions and fierce competition. And afterwards, you could shake hands with your opponent, look them in the eye and say, “Good game.” Can’t do that with online games.

Important: Final Fantasy VIII
Not only was this the first Final Fantasy I’ve ever played, this was the first JRPG I’ve ever played. Well, actually, the first one I’ve ever played was Pokemon Red on the GameBoy, but FFVIII was the first RPG I’ve played that had such rich narrative, beautiful score, and graphics that were unbelievably awesome for its time. So not only has this game brought about my love for JRPGs, but it introduced me to Final Fantasy. And although as of right now, Final Fantasy has fallen from grace in my eyes, it still introduced me to a whole new genre of gaming.

Unnoticed: Evil Zone
Evil Zone was a fighting game created like an Anime. It had 10 characters, and you’ve seen them all. What I mean by that is, they were like the 10 archetypes from every type of Anime, fit into one game–you got your futuristic bounty hunter with a big sword, your tall dark and mysterious sorcerer in a suit, your tomboy chick who uses her fists, a creepy little priestess girl who’s actually ancient, a Power Ranger lookalike, etc. etc. etc. Every character’s story mode was like their own series, and every new opponent they fought had an episode name often long and drawn out in a true Anime fashion, such as, and I’m not kidding, “Stolen heart of an angel. An executioner in a blazer. Entry of Guardian Angel Setsuna” that’s the name of one ‘episode’, each of which came with a little cinematic before and after the battle, followed by, a preview segment. It’s not a bad thing, if you don’t take it too seriously. In fact it’s campy in the most satirical way. But the awesomeness of this game came with the simplicity of it. There are two buttons: Attack and Guard. Now, whether you push up, down, forward or backward while attacking, it would produce a different result, and if you play it long enough, you learn that there’s actually a deep and complex system buried in there. This was also one of the first games I’ve ever played that had a shit ton of unlockable art, sounds, etc., which seems to have become a standard today. It’s sad that this game didn’t become very popular. Now it’s that much harder to obtain. And there is no awesome sequel.

Overall: Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid is to Stealth Games what Resident Evil is to Survival Horror. So it pretty much ties on the importance scale. But aside from that, Metal Gear Solid was just so…. Well… Solid. I can’t put it another way. There were so many things about it that made that game so mature and so much above anything else at the time. From the credits appearing while you play (which was new at the time), to best voice acting that’s probably existed in any game at the time. But gameplay wise, this game was packed. I mean, aside from a slew of weapons, and cool equipment like night vision and infrared goggles, you had ways to sneak around, crouching, trying to get enemies not to notice you, or luring them toward you by tapping on the wall. Sure, that’s what Metal Gear has always been about. Since 1987, when MG1 came out, it’s been about AVOIDING detection. But bringing that concept into 3D gave it so much more prestige and possibility. And the bosses like Psycho Mantis as well as a few other conventions, really made you think outside the fourth wall, to find ways of beating the game. It was like a really awesome action movie that you take part in. Work of genius. And as far as the series came, there’s still a huge population of people out there who believe that none of the MGS sequels or prequels are nearly as good as the original Metal Gear Solid.

Worst: Castlevania Chronicles
Castlevania Chronicles was supposed to be a remake of the original Castlevania… But it honestly felt more like a port of an NES game to the PS1. The mechanics are sluggish, which was acceptable back in the 1980s, but this is the PlayStation we’re talking about. Play Symphony of the Night and you’ll have a hard time coming back to this one.

Best Boss Fight: Final Fantasy VII: Emerald Weapon
This is the boss to end all bosses. Literally, it could probably kick all their asses in one shot. Everyone who played FFVII knows about this motherfucker. The final boss was a little pussy compared to this. Emerald was like a really tough exam that actually required a LOT of preparation for. And for this, it deserves the spot of the best boss fight. Because once you beat it, you feel like you can take on the world. And in terms of the game, you really can.

GRAPHICS:
Graphical Jump: Resident Evil
Yes, you know, I’m a very big fan of the classic Resident Evil games. But the thing is, the one thing I really liked about Resident Evil when I first played it, was how awesome the graphics were. Back in 1996, 3D models in games were pretty rudimentary, and developers didn’t know how to utilize the PS1 to handle the kinds of 3D graphics that they managed later down the line, such as games like Final Fantasy VIII. But at the time, it was an accomplishment. But let’s rewind a little back. To the first Survival Horror game: Alone in the Dark. You see, the developers behind AitD had a great idea. What do you do when you can’t handle a lot of 3D graphics? You fake 3D. So what they did was, they took good quality 3D backgrounds, rendered them, so the backgrounds look gorgeous, but the only true 3D is on the characters and the movable objects. That’s the problem with gaming and innovation these days. Critics complain when games don’t have enough innovation, and as a result, developers desperately fish for innovation, and crash and burn as a result. When it comes to video games, I believe that best innovation comes from technical limitation, and with consoles like the PS3 there really aren’t that many limitations to speak of. Anyway. So, back to Resident Evil, Capcom did followed the Alone in the Dark formula, and what happens? You get one of the most gorgeous games of its time. The 3D models looked great, the textures were nice and detailed. Like its Remake, years later, Resident Evil 1 visually exceeded anything of its time. And even though it was also released on Sega Saturn, the PS1 version is where RE1 truly shined… Well, and the PC version, but the PC version of everything looks better.

Technical Excellence: Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
Again, people bitch bitch bitch about pre-rendered camera angles, but I say screw you. It’s technology that worked really well, and even with graphics as capable as they are now, I still support pre-rendered backgrounds. But this isn’t about now, this is about PS1. When you play The New Nightmare, it’s almost hard to believe that it’s PS1. What they did was, they rendered 2 versions of backgrounds–light and dark, and filtered one as what it looks like when you’re shining on it with a flashlight. So, you technically have 2 backgrounds running at all times. And when you shine your flashlight on the pre-rendered walls, they light up oh so beautifully and realistically. There’s rain effects, darkness and light, and everything that truly brings an otherwise still game to life. I thought that Resident Evil 3 was one of the best looking PS1 games, ever, but in terms of visual atmosphere, The New Nightmare blows Resident Evil out of the water. Definitely the best looking PS1 game I’ve ever seen.

Creative Vision: Fear Effect
Having went to video game school, I learned a neat little tidbit about cel-shaded 3D graphics. For whatever reason, they require the object to be rendered twice. This means that if you want to display a cel-shaded 3D model with 100 polygons, it will be equivalent to displaying a 3D model with 200 polygons. And while I can see how developers could take such liberties in games for the PS2 and after, back in the days of PS1, it was no easy task, and with the technology of the time, probably an impossible task. Nevertheless, the art director decided that’s what he wanted. So what they did was put no shading on the characters at all, and instead baked the cel shading onto the textures. In essence, it’s fake shading, but it still worked pretty well, and captured a unique and interesting art style. In fact, this might be the game that inspired people to actually develop the technology for REAL cel-shaded 3D graphics.

Worst: MDK
Read what I said about Resident Evil 1 before. This game is the backwards formula of that, and it failed. It was released in 1997, and for that, I gotta say, it looks atrocious. The bland 3D backgrounds, and the 2D rendered main character… Now, back to what I said about Resident Evil, if you can’t handle 3D graphics very well, you can render backgrounds and have more polygon power for the characters… This does NOT work the other way around. If you render the main character and make everything else real time 3D, as MDK will indicate: It looks ugly. I know this game has a fairly large cult fanbase, but blow me. It’s ugly.

STORY
Best Original Story: Final Fantasy VIII
I don’t know what it is. Honestly, there’s three factors I have a thing for when it comes to storylines. One are post apocalyptic settings, such as Fallout or SIlent Hill. Another is Murder Mystery such as Indigo Prophecy or Still Life. And the third are time related plot lines like Ocarina of Time or Chrono Trigger. Now, I think a school of mercenaries, travelling a fantasy world and doing missions was a cool idea, so FF8 was already off to a good start. But after a few hours into the game, the idea was somewhat abandoned. However, luckily for me, it was replaced with the idea of time travel. Starting from visiting the past through another man’s eyes, and ending with compressing past, present and future into one messed up twisted up MC Escher of a universe. That’s just awesome. Not only that, but it did tell a rich storyline with a lot of character development. And if you don’t like the whiny protagonist, then it’s all the more fun watching him develop into a positive, outspoken leader. And even though I’m not crazy for sappy love stories, this one in particular rubbed me the right way (no, not THAT way). If there has to be one game with a sappy love story, let this be it. The contrast of Squall and Laguna made it that much more interesting, too. One’s an angsty teenage loner, the other is a hopeless romantic goofball. And good times were had by all!

Best Narrative: Metal Gear Solid
How can it be anything else? Metal Gear Solid is known for two things: Popularizing stealth action games. And its unprecedented caliber of story telling. Until this game came out, there were only a few other games with plots so developed. They were called RPGs and lasted for 50+ hours. And that’s understandable. But not only did this otherwise fairly short stealth game deliver a rich and powerful story, it also did it with voice overs. Not only did it do it with voice overs, but these were the most talented well done voice overs in any video game at the time. And they still hold up against some of the most acclaimed games of today.

Best Story based on IP: Parasite Eve
I don’t think too many people realize that Parasite Eve was based on a book. I knew it was, but didn’t know that it actually tied into the book’s canon. Which it does, and quite successfully. Like I said, I didn’t know that the game was tied directly into the book, and that’s simply because the game is so well done. It feels like a completely original project. The only time when a game directly mentions the book is during a single scene of exposition, which CAN get confusing, but then you just go, “Oh well, back to playing.” But the game is so much more. It took the science behind the book, and told a completely new story based on it with just as much story, but more action and more Hollywood appeal, only, you know, without bubble gumming it up. This is how book and movie based games should be made.

Best Ending: Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil has been through a lot in terms of development. But I will always see the MAIN game as the original trilogy. RE1: STARS go into a mansion, investigating murders, discover zombies, T-Virus, Umbrella’s conspiracy. RE2: The virus breaks out and infects the whole city.
Resident Evil 3 concluded the Raccoon City saga in one of the most epic ways possible. A nuclear explosion on Raccoon City, wiping out the police station, the church, and other locations that you’ve visited in and survived through. That imagery is so powerful, when I first saw it, it left me in awe. It officially confirmed that there was no way in hell, you were gonna visit those places every again. (Apart from horrible retcons and unneeded prequels.) That, in addition to the radio announcement at the end, made this one of the most powerful endings of any PS1 game.

Worst Story: Resident Evil Survivor
This was the first indication that Capcom’s ideas for Resident Evil were going downhill. And although the backstory of the game is pretty cool, an island where they kidnap children and use parts of their brains to help create a line of Tyrants, the main plot of the game itself was pretty shabby. You got a cabbage head character who doesn’t remember who he is or what good voice acting is. He searches the island to discover his mysterious past and escape all the zombies, and is led to believe that he was the bad guy behind the whole Umbrella operation. But oh no, big twist, he was a spy, and the real bad guy died at the beginning. Which explains why the plot bites so much in the first place. They kill the fucking antagonist literally one minute into the game. Tyrants, and final bosses don’t really count as antagonists in Resident Evil, an antagonist has to be a human who deliberately knows that it’s YOU he must stop. Like Wesker, Anette, Nicholai… I guess Nemesis is the only monster who actually fits into the category, but he probably doesn’t even know why. He’s just hungry for a Jill sandwich. In any case, there’s no antagonist. Aside from that, generally speaking, I dislike little kids in games. There aren’t too many games where they introduce a child character and I say, “That kid’s pretty cool.” So what do they do? They throw in TWO most annoying kids on the island, and it’s them I must save. Well, I really don’t wanna. I’d rather deal with Sherry and her stubborn ass. But the story is still better than RE4.

MUSIC:
Best Original Score: Final Fantasy VIII
I think most people prefer the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack, but this is not something I intend to take apart. I’m not gonna rip apart every song and decide why one’s better than another. The bottom line is, FF8 soundtrack simply appeals to me more. Yes, FF7 had some awesome tracks that are very memorable and will always make me smile. But I still feel like FF8 soundtrack was composed much better. But just to rub it in your face, it is my honest opinion that Liberali Fatali is a much better song than One Winged Angel, which is one of the most overrated songs in video game history. Though still not as overrated as that Simple and Clean song from Kingdom Hearts. And what’s more, Eyes On Me is a great, sweet song, performed by a woman with a voice that, quite frankly, makes me melt a little on the inside every time I hear it.

Best Outsourced Music: Apocalypse
Not many people might remember Apocalypse. It was a run and gun shooter where the direction of the right analog stick (or the corresponding button) reflected which way you shoot, while you run in any other location. (Think Monster Madness or Burn Zombie Burn) So you could run and shoot backwards, strafe and shoot, and it was as simple as pushing one analog stick one way, and the other the other way. It was good fun. But where the game stood out is: A. Rendering Bruce Willis’ face and using his voice for the main character. And B. The soundtrack.
Featuring songs like War from System of a Down, Control from Poe, and Back on a Mission from Cirrus, and even playing clips of their footage on giant TV screens within the game environment. This game had a memorable soundtrack that should appeal to any Metal/Industrial/Goth music fan. And I dabble a bit in all, so I enjoyed it a lot. In fact, it resulted in me becoming a fan of Poe. If you don’t know who that is, look her up.

Most Memorable Soundtrack: Silent Hill
Akira Yamaoka is a fucking genius. He is. His Acid Jazz influence is unlike anything I’ve heard in any game. And his sense for creepy, foreboding, and quite frankly, nerve wrecking tonal landscapes is unprecedented. Many artists tried to copy afterwards, but failed. But the bottom line is the first song you hear in the game, the “Silent Hill” song… Have you EVER heard anything like it? That’s what I thought.

Worst Soundtrack: Parappa The Rapper
I guess it’s because I’m such a big fan of rap, that I just can’t stand it being bastardized. And this song does just that. The beats are unmemorable, the lyrics are juvenile and pointless. You know what has a better sound? Jammer Lammy.

I have scoured the internet to find all the possible Playstation emulators for the Mac. FlareStorm and PCSX are the most popular ones out there right now, however there are others. VGS was the first commercial Playstation emulator for the Mac, but soon faded away. The demo is still available for download, so I have posted it and the others in the Box File Widget. The Pi and PSMac are smaller, less known Playstation emulators for the Mac. Those have also been posted as well. Last, but not least, there are plugins for Flarestorm and PCSX available for download too. To get certain games working properly, you will need these plugins. Many of these emulators require older operating systems and won’t function in Leopard, even with their Classic Environment support. I was unable to try VGS. I did manage to get PCSX running after installing Rosette. Your Mac will tell you to install Rosette and then install it for you. After installing Rosette, you should be free to play Playstation games on your Mac. For better compatibility, don’t forget to install the extra plugins too.

Grab all these emulators from the Box File Widget on the right. Flarestorm, PCSX, The Pi and PsMac are all in there. I’ve renamed them so that they might be easier to pick out from the Box File Widget.

Cheers!
