Today we present, Mr Craig Mack.

When you think of Craig Mack, the first song that comes to mind is the Flavour in Your Ear Remix, the first image that comes to your mind is probably a smug git tapping some bottles. Somewhere in between that track and that person is the reason why Mack is not held with the reverence as his chubby Bad Boy counterpart. Mack picked on scraps, while the Big bandwagon sparred with the rival coast- it’s orchestrator always close at hand.

Many forget that it was Craig Mack who cemented Big Boy Records as a genuine threat to the airwaves. His debut LP, Project Funk Da World possessed all the trimmings of a bonafide boom bap classic. It had character, fine production and an emcee more than capable. Perhaps it’s biggest downfall was that remix which featured two players who were keen to stamp their mark on an industry dominated by a synth-laden west coast. Biggie’s ambivalent flow set the bench mark, and Busta erratic prose stole the show (remember crazy Busta?).

Both emcee’s are undoubtedly legends of hip hop now, but they lacked the ease with which Mack dropped bars. When he was good, it was effortless; a throwback to the days of call and response and high-top’s (bring it back Temps). This isn’t meant as disrespect to Biggie and Busta. They more than deserve the acclaim, but I would argue that Mack has waited long enough for a bit of recognition; at least a chapter on the revival of east coast hip-hop.

What is it about the politics of fashion that makes the up-and-coming tyrant want to coordinate hi

What is it about the politics of fashion that makes the up-and-coming tyrant want to coordinate his “look” with those of his predecessors in history?
This is a theory laden style that, although understated, clearly manages to convey to the world a sense of dysfunction, murderous pathology, economic failure, incompetence, paranoia, deprivation, and ultimate social calamity.
The feeling of absolute authority, heretofore conveyed exclusively by drab green quasi-military outfits and ill-fitting suits, has evolved into a preference for drab green quasi-military fatigues, poorly made suits.
Some recent attempts define individual menace have been driven by the gray Primark jacket (available in the bazaars of Istanbul) and red warm-up suits, but they remain outside of the historical mainstream.
Let’s begin with the poor relations over there across the Urals…old Yosif Vissarionovich Dzugashvili…or Joseph Steel, or Joe Stalin to you…looking good in his blood spatter resistant over-shirt, old Joe established a style that would prove hard to resist for future despots with an eye toward governance through murder and intimidation.

The idea of fashion was certainly not lost on chairman Mao…he even incorporated it into his “cultural revolution.” Whether struggling on the long march, appearing in public with his little red book, at the office reviewing lists of counter-revolutionaries, or just lounging around the hut penning more disingenuous philosophy, his take on Stalin’s ensemble with the matching hat was never inappropriate.

Suddenly, there emerged a “rebel” on the political front….Sadly, his sense of rebellion was as dated as his choice of wardrobe…

Same old military-inspired styling…same old blood spatter resistant fabric, dysfunction, deprivation, and social calamity…YET NO FASHION FORWARD THOUGHT……

There was a time, apart our previous three, when tyranny embraced fashion. With the initial support of a functioning economy,
dysfunction, murderous pathology, incompetence, paranoia, deprivation, and ultimate social calamity adopted a style of proto-military regalia that would ultimately serve as a template for late twentieth century South American and African lunatics.

Here we can see the source of their jealous drab green deconstructions… mass murder looks smart in this coat and tie, accessorized with a clever hat and important papers carried in the left hand…..a fashion statement not lost on forward thinking despots of the future….

Limits on space require that we must skip over those many murdering lesser despots whose murderous extermination campaigns remain publicly recorded at less than six million.

Fashion suddenly takes a turn with the arrival of the North Korean “chairman of the hidden gulag,” ….in more ways than one…

Here we see the traditional blood spatter resistant fatigue fabric over-shirt boldly replaced by the blood spatter resistant gray jacket. This bold combination somehow simultaneously suggests a playful concept for the future of despotic fashion while acknowledging its gritty functional tradition. This combination will not be ignored by the up-and-coming despot with an eye for style.

And here we have it….true evolution in despotic fashion… suddenly, over an open neck shirt, a characterless gray jacket provides bright new alternatives to shop worn wardrobes of old. A simple gray jacket which can now openly say to the world, “I’m deranged and planning to significantly re-proportion human ethnicity.”

We here at tyrannyoffashion.com realize that beyond an invitation to a UN General Assembly rant, the occasion for more formal dress may arise. In such cases we could do worse than recommend the crummy blue suit.

or the over-sized crummy blue suit…..

However, the most radical, vital, and influential trend in tyrannical fashion certainly must be the ultimate signifier of “popular equality”… or the classic Birthday Suit…

“It’s amazing how when I get around n*ggas, it’s all good, when I leave, n*ggas do all their secret

“It’s amazing how when I get around n*ggas, it’s all good, when I leave, n*ggas do all their secret talking.”

The second return of Harlem rapper Mase has been one that has baffled fans and artists alike as the former Bad Boy artist has changed his skin on many occasions from rapper to pastor to rapper as if he was on the fence in terms of which lifestyle he preferred to embrace.

Since his second arrival, he has squashed his beef with Cam’Ron and Jim Jones, given the ability to work with other artists through a paperwork signing with Diddy and has ultimately been gearing up to hit the music scene once again.

Most recently, the rapper dropped a mixtape with 5 different DJs titled, I Do the Impossible.

Catching up with DJ Drama last Friday on Shade 45, Betha spoke on the shady business that happened behind closed doors with particular people when he tried to come back the first time.

That’s when he tried to have people “Breathe, Stretch, Shake”, but some had to just let that one go.

“Every time I get involved with somebody, I’m good. When I get out of business with everybody, I’m not good. Anytime somebody can make money with me, they big the homie up. Every time n*ggas can’t get money with me, they throw their little shots at me. That lets you know. For ten 10 years, I haven’t been on the scene, I don’t sell cologne, I don’t sell sneakers, I don’t sell no video games, I don’t sell music and I’m still one of the hottest topics anywhere you go.”

The rapper also spoke on his brief stint with 50 Cent and G-Unit where he was scrutinized and labeled as being fake for “ditching” his religious teachings and being engulfed by the gun and drug rap revolutionized by Mr. Jackson.

“Me and Fif spoke in 2007 I think. I think, realistically, a lot of larceny was thrown in that. People didn’t really see me get a shot. Fif ain’t do nothin’ but take me on the road and gave me exposure and gave me the opportunity to do what I’m about to do now. I guarantee I’m about to burn it down.”

The deal was for a moment as 50 stated that Diddy wasn’t willing to compromise which resulted in Mase parting with G-Unit Records.

“I think a lot of things were said when I wasn’t there that swayed the deal away from happening and Fif is his own man, he made his own decision. I’m glad he made the decision he made because now this is the destiny. The destiny was for me to stand on my own and burn the joint down and give niggas that 9 months that Tupac gave them.”

Now on his own, the rapper seems to be traveling his own road and now has clarity as to which path he wants to lead in his musical career. Welcome back…again.

The stars were out last night at Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Birthday Celebration Presented by Ciroc Vodka at The Grand Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel on November 20, 2009 in New York City.

It was billed as the “party of the century” to celebrate the four decades of the hip-hop artists life. The the theme of the party was a “fantasy dreamland”, and by all reports and papparrazi photos, it definitely lived up to the hype.

Diddy planned the party with famed event planner Bronson Van Wyck. Bentley Meeker, the “Wizard of Light” set the mood with the lighting.

A few names of the guest who attended the party included Queen Latifah, Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Zac Posen, Lil’ Kim ,Kim Kardashian, Nelly,Tyrese Gibson,Jermaine Dupree, Martha Stewart, Media executive Lorne Michael’s, The Black Eyed Peas,Ice T and his wife,….but no Shyne?

Where is Shyne you ask…well Shyne was deported to his home country of Belize, after spending 10 years in prison for allegedly shooting up a club, after a confrontation was started by Sean Combs at a club he brought Jennifer Lopez and Shyne too.

Shyne was assisted by his father Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

A quote from Boombox.com reports that…While his immigration status is still under review, Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, must return to Belize despite the fact that his mother lives in New York, where he grew up.

Prime Minister Barrow petitioned the help of Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree to assist in the matter of keeping his son in the states. “All the lawyers who were dealing with his immigration problems, they are totally off the case now,” said Shyne’s uncle, Michael Finnegan. “He [Ogletree] has stepped in totally, he was given permission to deal with the situation in all its aspects,” he said…

http://www.theboombox.com/2009/11/03/shyne-speaks-deportation/

Sean Comb’s has come forth to state that Shyne has and has always had his full support, and if there is anything that Shyne need from him, like his assistance to get back to the States, that the whole Bad Boy camp will be at his disposal.

Well, MTV.com reports that Shyne contends that Combs’ support is exactly what landed him in jail!

He says that since his trial lawyers — Murray Richman and Ian Niles — were indirectly on the Bad Boy payroll, they worked halfheartedly in defending him, so that Combs would look innocent.

The lawyers reject this characterization of their work, and contend they did everything to defend Shyne.

“How do you call a witness to testify against your comrade?” wonders Shyne, who called Myers’ testimony more damaging than any witness the prosecution called. “That don’t make no sense. I’m telling you this woman is lying and you’re saying, ‘Eh, you know, well, she’s helping me.’ But I’m facing 25 years and you’re looking at probation…

Charise Myers, a Club New York security guard who said she fell on top of Sean Combs during the melee. Myers also gave an account of seeing Shyne get into an altercation with Matthew “Scar” Allen — who was determined to be the antagonist in the incident — and then firing shots in the air first…

It was obvious that they were selling me [out] in order to appease [Diddy]. There was a dual loyalty there.”

Shyne has refused to tell authorities who else in the club had a firearm. (http://www.mtv.com/bands/s/shyne/news_feature_080504/index3.jhtml)

“I wasn’t built like that,” he says about his decision not to “snitch.” “I’m designed a different type of way, and this is not ‘hood philosophy. This is all the way up to the White House, to the Oval Office, you know. There are certain rules that you abide by, and this is the way I was brought up. You don’t sacrifice anybody in order to spare yourself. You just don’t do that.”

Sounds like what I know to be honorable, not only on the streets, but life in general.

I wasn’t there, I have only read the transcripts from the court case, and that is what I base my opinion on, and if I was a betting man and my life depended on it…I am riding with Shyne.

Hopefully Sean Combs’ can help Shyne get back to work here in the USA,….he certainly knows all the right people to make that happen.

Happy 40th birthday Mr Sean Comb’s…

If you have heard of this Vodka before, it was probably through the advertising campaign featuring P Diddy.

Many people, including ourselves have been put off this vodka because of the campaign and did not t want to be seen with a so called “bling” drink.

Well, it is time we decided ourselves what we thought of Ciroc rather than the assumption it was overpriced and aimed at only one market.

Ciroc is distilled using grapes rather than the traditional potato or wheat ingredients.
The grapes are from the Gaillac (Mauzac Blanc) and also Cognac (Ugni Blanc) region of France.

Once the grapes have been pressed they are cold fermented, the Ciroc is then distilled five times. This results in remarkably smooth vodka.

For those that like to know that bit more about a product, you may be interested to know that the grapes are maintained with the same 10th century methods that originate from Benedictine Monks. The grapes are left for a longer period of time than usual which enables them to ripen more before being harvested. This late harvest ensures that the grapes have hardened sufficiently to lower the chances of bruising, which would have a detrimental effect on the taste of the vodka.

The result of this cold harvest as well as cold fermentation process means that you drink vodka that maintains the essence of the grape taste. This is vastly different to anything else on the market and once you have tasted it will always know you are drinking Ciroc even if blind tasting.

For those of you that expect a kick to your Vodka then you will end up disappointed. The sheer quality of this vodka eliminates this and you have brilliantly smooth and refreshing vodka.

I haven’t tried this as a base for a cocktail as I feel it could be wasted. Ciroc on the rocks is superb and would be exactly how I would recommend drinking it.

If you do have any Ciroc cocktails that make the most of the grape taste then you will have to let us now here at The Emporium.

The bottle itself is very sleek and has a nice understated style to it; the 1L size can make an imposing centre-piece behind a bar but nothing to ghastly.

Overall if you want to treat yourself then I wouldn’t recommend anything else in this price bracket, when compared to Stolichnaya Elit it blows it away and that is not an easy thing to do.

Despite my initial scepticism, Ciroc truly is the champagne of Vodka!

If you do want to try a bottle then pay a visit to our site where it is currently available.

HipHopWired: As far as the track that you sent out this morning, what’s the actual name of it?

Legacy: Mixtapes…there ain’t really no titles dog. It ain’t really no name for it. If I could name it, I don’t even know to tell you the truth what I would title it because it’s really an emotional record. It’s a personal record, it’s directed to Ma$e. It’s directed to the situations I’ve been through being in his church and then it’s also just telling you about me. So, I don’t know man, I don’t know what to call it, you name it. [Ed. Note: After the interview, Legacy sent out a press release that the song was entitled "Eviction."]

HipHopWired: What church did you attend?

Legacy: Ma$e’s S.A.N.E. (Saving A Nation Endangered International). I was sitting in there for about 3 years. I know Ma$e very well.

HipHopWired: Obviously the track is a new but what was it that made you decide this is the reason and why put it out now?

Legacy: Well, it’s almost like I inherited a lot of the people who left the church. What I mean is, a lot of people know what I do through my non-profit, it’s faith based and a lot of times the motivational talks that I do don’t allow me to express the faith side so I’m in the middle of both worlds. I know how to talk to a spiritual congregation and I know how to talk to an audience that don’t have a clue about their spirituality. So they always knew I was somebody that was always thinking outside the church, and I was always doing what I was going to do regardless of whether the church was going to back me or not if that makes sense. So when I left I was seeing a slew of people that was just leaving behind me, not following me, but leaving after me. I left for my own reasons. I didn’t go in there like Judas and try to bring people out; I just left for my own reasons.

But then I seen literally 50, 60, 70-100 people leaving for some of the same reasons if not worse. They all started calling me and everybody was kind of hush about it and nobody wanted to put it on blast and nobody really had the outlet. Like I said, music is the outlet to channel your frustration and to speak your peace so I just felt man, “Why is everybody acting like they can’t ask this man what he doing?” He dodging all kind of interviews if you really do the homework on him. He don’t take interviews with CoCo Brother and different people because he don’t’ have an explanation for what he’s doing. He just want people to respect it without having to explain it. So I just got fed up and did a song about it.

HipHopWired: You being a member of the church, what were you all thinking a few years back when he was going to be signing with 50 Cent and then he turned into Murda Ma$e again?

Legacy: That’s the biggest problem man. Because I believed in his vision because I was an artist myself and I always thought it’d be great if we had somebody to get co-signed by these major artists out there and come out, and even though you amongst them, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to represent what they represent. And you can do it respectfully. He didn’t have to bash. I saw and believed in what he was doing. Oh, he got 50 co-signing. That’s what’s up… and he telling the church we gonna do this. We’re gonna do that but then you go back to Murda Ma$e.

For me, I’m an investor dog. Because I’m sewn into your ministry, you pulling us in the back room asking us to help fund your music projects because he didn’t have his label situation yet. So he literally asking people from the church to support that so I’m an investor at this point…you understand. And if you taking my money to do something contrary to what you told me then we got a problem. We got to sit back at the roundtable and talk about what your motives are.

HipHopWired: Some of the lyrics that you say in the song… “You betray your whole church for your fan base” and he was a “false prophet and we already got enough of them.” Can you explain those two lines?

Legacy: What I mean by that is instead of doing what he told the church he was going to do, he went back to being loyal to what his fan base originally supported Ma$e for. As an artist, when you come out a certain way, your fan base expects you to make them kind of records because they bought into the old Ma$e. When he tried to transform into the new Ma$e, he didn’t have enough faith or whatever it was to carry out the assignment, so he thought he had to go back to the old Ma$e to regain his fan base.

So really, he chose his fan base over the church and you telling us you’re going to do something and that’s why most people leave churches bro because they start making their pastor to be God. No pastor is God, no man is perfect but you’re held to a standard. So if you say you’re going to do something as a pastor, as a lawyer, as a doctor…whatever your profession, you got to do it and he didn’t do that so that’s what I meant by that.

HipHopWired: Is that where the false prophet accusation comes in?

Legacy: Yeah, that’s why most people leave churches behind. You can’t tell me dog, “Hey man, be faithful to your wife and I’m your pastor but I see you in the strip club with 5 hoes on your lap and your high. That’s a false prophet. You’re not living by what you’re saying and people can take that out of context and that is what it is. I don’t expect Ma$e to be perfect but I definitely expect him to live by what he’s saying. You can’t go out there doing that bro because people get deceived.

HipHopWired: On the track, you also say that you wanted to set up a meeting and then you, meaning the church, ya’ll members bought him a Lamborghini. As a minister, why did he need a Lamborghini and what type of meeting were you all trying to hold with Ma$e.

Legacy: Here’s the thing. I’m a firm believer in… The perception people have on pastors is a little warped too. They expect every pastor to be broke and they ain’t supposed to have nothing good. I don’t believe in that either. In my opinion, God owns everything and I’m gonna tell you straight up, I’m not doing what I’m doing for money. But don’t expect me…I would never say that money is not necessary to do what I’m doing because for me to do what I’m doing it’s going to take money.

So the perception of people thinking what do the pastor need with that Lamborghini…If the people of the church want to do something for their pastor, that’s their opinion. There’s a lot of millionaires that support all kinds of charities, people can do what they want to do with their money. I don’t have a problem with a pastor with a Lamborghini. What I have problem is, when we are investing in you and believing that you standing for what you say you’re standing for and then you do something totally opposite. That’s the problem I have and that’s why most people get mad with the church because these pastors take your money and do stupid stuff with it.

HipHopWired: In the song you also state that Ma$e didn’t want to hear people out unless they gave him all their bank account numbers, what’s that about?

Legacy: It became a hustle for Ma$e after a while dog. I can’t and I won’t say too much in the interview because I want to make sure people understand they got to follow the music. I don’t want to take away any interest from my projects and stuff but a lot of stuff will be said. But what I will say is that it became almost like a hustle after a while where he was gauging who he would talk to based around how much they were giving, that’s a problem for me.

Because all throughout the Bible, there were people who had the least but gave the most. It’s easy for a dude with a million dollars to give a thousand. It’s hard for a dude with a hundred dollars to give 30. It don’t matter how much you give. The point is that person was giving out of what he had and for you to gauge your conversations based around the amount of people giving, that’s a problem so that’s what I meant.

HipHopWired: Just to elaborate a little more, I’ve been to weddings at these mega churches where Pastors Creflo Dollar and Eddie Long preside and they do similar things. If Evander Holyfield or some star or a person with a whole bunch of money was getting married, they themselves would marry them. Now if you’re a regular member, you get passed off to an associate pastor. So it seems throughout a lot of these churches that you can’t talk to or be in the presence of “the head man” unless you’re blessing him with gifts in some form.

Legacy: That’s whack to me. You see why I say Legacy to Jesus, because Jesus went everywhere bro. People was talking about him based on the company he kept. He went everywhere, he wasn’t no respecter of persons. Now I understand these guys got schedules that are tight but don’t take a meeting with Holyfield and leave Lil Nook Nook on the sideline because he need just as much of that as Holyfield does.

HipHopWired: Last things I want to hit you with…You said you occasionally smoke a little purp (weed) but somebody in the pulpit was poking in the church. So was he sleeping with the members of the congregation?

Legacy: Nah, I’m not gonna say that. I’m speaking in general about that and I was saying I admitted when I smoked a little perp because I’ve been doing this a long time and I have a past. I have some things where I said I came from a different background. And I remember where there was a time when I disclosed some of those things from my past. I used to sell drugs, I used to smoke a lot of weed and I’d be transparent at different places and I admitted that. And I remember there were a few instances where I speak in white, Black, Latino atmospheres.

I used to get certain times where I had a speaking engagement, people would pull me aside and kind of ridicule the fact that I disclosed my struggles. And I said, well how can I expect these people to be real with me if I can’t be real with them. I admitted that. But you got pastors in the church whose poking around and nobody’s saying nothing but they mad at me because I admitted that I smoked a little perp.

I’m not saying that about Ma$e.

HipHopWired: So earlier when you spoke of pastors being in the strip club, were you speaking on Ma$e or were you speaking in general?

Legacy: I’m speaking in general. And Ma$e, this is an emotional record, not a diss record. At the end of the song, I said a prayer for him. I told you in the first verse that I still got love for him, but if you want to take a quote to me right now, I feel like I’m big homie to Ma$e and he’s my little brother. And he trying to come out and play and I’m telling him no go back in the house dog. I’m out here, this grown folks. What I’m saying is, Ma$e, he owe the church an apology. He got to stick to that. He can’t do music and the church because he start messing up when he does both.

So I’m telling him go back in the house, stay at the church, don’t do that. Let me do what you was trying to do because you messing up and that’s in love. But I got to do it harsh because he ain’t gonna respond to that “let’s set up a meeting,” I tried that. I tried to ask him what his motives were because I’m an artist. I understand rap better than all his congregation. And he’s dodging me, he didn’t want to talk to me. I’m like OK, bro. It took two years for that track to come out so I ain’t just come out trying to do a publicity stunt. Ma$e ain’t even hot right now. How am I doing a publicity stunt, this is just something I’m getting off my chest.

Legacy The Jesus

HipHopWired: You say it’s not a publicity stunt and you seem real sincere about the issue. But we actually did a news piece about Ma$e about to release five mix tapes since he got out of that contract with Diddy…almost like a launching of him coming back out.

Legacy: Good, it’s a coincidence. I didn’t know that until the other day I just found that out. This track been recorded about two months ago and I was getting all my stuff together. I didn’t know he was putting out a mix tape until I saw it two days ago. So to be honest, it’s a coincidence.

HipHopWired: From talking to you, it’s no bitter or hatred towards Ma$e. With that said, can ya’ll sit down and talk and is it possible that ya’ll can do music together?

Legacy: I don’t know bro. I think right now I’m gonna do me. Like I said, I’m every descriptive. I said in the song I bet you’ll take a meeting now that my name is out. Soon as I start interviews, they respect the person. When I was trying to get the meeting when I didn’t have my name out, why didn’t he take it then. I think right now it’s going to take a little bit of breathing space and distance before we can even talk about that because I don’t know what kind of music he’s putting out. I would never say I will work with Ma$e until I see what he’s doing, understand what he’s doing, until he lets the people know because he don’t ever let the people know what he’s doing. He just smile his way out of stuff so for me it’s like I got to watch homie right now. I’m not gonna say I will and I’m definitely not going to say I won’t, but right now it’s not the time.

HipHopWired: So pretty much, this has nothing to do with you. You just feel he has to be accountable for the people he supposedly represented in the church. You got to basically respond and let your people who you represent know exactly what you’re doing especially if you’re in a position of authority.

Legacy: That’s exactly right. I can’t say it better than that. Ma$e got too many yes men around him and that’s the problem he probably had with me behind the scenes. We ain’t never sat and ate lunch together but he’s seen me every Wednesday and every Sunday at 6 a.m. and he knows exactly who I am, and I was never a yes man. He just wanted people to co-sign him all day without an explanation and I’m not that guy, dog. You got to tell me what you’re doing because this is people’s lives here. People’s lives are depending on what you say and do and you can’t play with that.

Just as Murda Ma$e is gearing up to make his return, one of his church members is calling him out and exposing the “false prophet.” Going at Betha harder than Killa Cam, Jay-Z, Beans or Jim Jones ever did, Legacy The Jesus has released “the real” (not a diss) track, letting the world know of Mase’s charlatan ways.

In an exclusive interview with HipHopWired, Legacy discusses everything from Ma$e turning his back on his congregation and trying to be like 50 Cent, at one point, to asking his members for their bank account numbers.

“Ma$e, he owe the church an apology…He can’t do music and the church because he start messing up when he does both.”

Peep the track here as Legacy goes in and check out how he feels about Hip-Hop’s Reverend Ike.

Fredro Starr details the night of the infamous Club New York shooting
“New York City was cold as a motherf***er… I think it was on 45th street or 46th street, something like that“

Around 2:30 A.M. on December 27, 1999, gunfire exploded inside Club New York, a midtown Manhattan nightclub. As ambulances were dispatched to the club to treat wounded patrons, police surrounded a SUV that had raced away through red traffic lights. When a 9mm pistol was discovered in the car, the passengers were arrested. They included music executive Sean Combs and his retinue, including film and music star Jennifer Lopez, bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones, and chauffeur Wardell Fenderson. Jamaal “Shyne” Barrow, an aspiring rap singer Combs was grooming for his Bad Boy Records label, was arrested at Club New York.
The incident was traced to an exchange between the arrested men and Matthew “Scar” Allen, who had thrown a wad of cash at Combs as an insult after Allen’s drink was spilled at the crowded bar. The case immediately drew headlines, not because of the three people wounded in the shooting, but because of the celebrity of those arrested. After hours of questioning, however, gun possession and assault charges were filed against Combs, Jones, and Barrow. Combs and Jones were further charged with trying to bribe Fenderson by offering him $50,000 to tell police that the pistol found in the vehicle was his.
Barrow, who faced attempted murder, assault, gun possession, and reckless endangerment charges, was clearly in the most serious trouble with the law.
Date of Trial: January 17-March 16, 2001
Verdict: Combs and Jones: acquitted; Barrow: acquitted of attempted murder and on one count of assault, guilty of all other charges
Sentence: Barrow: 10 years imprisonment

The club was poppin’ off last week, with Shaun Boothe’s “Hip Hop in 3D” even

The club was poppin’ off last week, with Shaun Boothe’s “Hip Hop in 3D” event at Circa nightclub. The night served not only as a raging party, it also premiered Shaun’s new video “Poor Boy” (a hawt and dirrrty track!)…the track is fantastic, the video really sets it apart from the regular ass-n-titty/money-money videos that saturate the hip hop market. Part of the deal: 3d glasses handed out at the party – keep them if you were there! The album artwork on the cd is done in 3D (and you can always use them for the Night of the Living Dead 3D remake, which never comes with the 3D glasses when you rent them, probably cuz people like Bobby steal them.)

They often say there are 3 sides to the story; one side, the other side and the truth. Shaun is an artist whose music speaks to that 3rd angle. In a rap world of super-gangsters and pimps, preachers and revolutionaries, Shaun’s music is alien. Discontent with the current state of what he sees as “1 dimensional” rap music, Shaun Boothe always brings the 3rd dimension out. When attacking a concept/subject he shows all the angles.

One of the really cool things Shaun’s done is his autobiography series. He does a rap song sharing the life of someone famous, from all different angles, of course. At the party we got to hear/see his rap and video for the lives of Mohammed Ali and Puff Daddy. Now, these two celebs in particular have so many biographies and the like done about them. Overdone you might even say. But here’s where Shaun has done the unimaginable. I don’t know how he did it, but he’s managed to put a freshness and – you guessed it – a new dimension on their remarkable lives.

If you missed it, I’m sorry. Truly.

Here’s a taste of what you missed – Poor Boy (Dirty) – Shaun Boothe (it’s a mediafire file, hooray! not annoying!)

okay lets just get this out there in cyberspace. many of you know this already or share my obsessio

okay lets just get this out there in cyberspace. many of you know this already or share my obsession… but this season of the rw/rr challenge is by far the best season yet.

like, for reals.

here are my top ten thoughts thus far:

1. i can’t decide who i despise more… veronica or kellyanne. its such a tough call as they are both utterly repulsive and evil in such different ways! how can i ever make up my mind!? the agony!

2. i can’t decide who i love more… evan or derrick. derrick is definitely the overall better person of the two but on the other hand evan’s one liners from the confessional are pure hilarity. thank gawd they are on the same team ’cause if they had to compete against each other in the ruins it might be too much to bear.

3. evelyn is to kellyanne as judi dench is to cate blanchett in ‘notes on a scandal’. mark my words: its going to get ugly.

4. cohutta is on the fast track to becoming one of my favorites. minus the part about how he also loves kellyanne. whats with her? (yes, i know. boobs.)

5. this headband gives peace a bad name.

6. wes is the most roided out person i’ve ever witnessed. side note: i still think he and johanna are mtb (meant to be).*

7. sarah kind of creeps me out. i can’t quite figure out why but she just does.

8. dunbar is so incredibly dull and useless i don’t think i could pick him out of a lineup. is he even still on the show? i have no idea. i think his parents set him up from the beginning though. poor guy… can you really be anything but uber boring when your name is dunbar?

9. tonya is clinically insane. (cue the deafening “OBVI!”)

10. lastly… tj lavin is the best host ever in all of challenge history. remember when jonny moseley hosted these things? what was that all about? anywho i’d love to see a separate ‘behind the scenes’ show chronicling what the heck he does on his downtime. can’t you just see him hangin’ with a crew of his bros just bong-hittin’ and bmx-in’ the day away? maybe takin’ the time to film the occasional music video? that show, my friends, would be glorious.

————————-

*much in the same way i still think j.lo and p.diddy are mtb. sometimes i just can’t move on.
