Nov, 28 2010: Sources : Highly placed sources at Bajaj have informed this reporter on condition of anonymity that Bajaj is going to have a major change in this coming year. As Bajaj is planning to enter the four wheel market after having a significant presence in the two and three wheeler market, they have decided to diversify the names so that it becomes easier for people to identify the brand.

The two wheeler brand will henceforth be rebranded Pulsar. Going forward all bikes which are designed and developed by Bajaj will be called Bajaj Pulsar XXX.  (XXX denoted the CC class). In the pipeline are Two 100 cc bikes, a 125 cc and 135 cc bike. A 90 cc bike designed to replace the very successful M80 is also in the design stage. It will be called M-Pulsar 90. The reason for choosing the Pulsar brand name is because most people in India relate this to powerful and value for money. So people will perceive the 90cc bike as being more powerful than competitors 100 cc and so on.

Also all bikes will carry the DTS acronym. The DTS is a widely important Acronym which can mean Digital Twin Spark, Digital Triple Spark (a technology which is being developed), Dual Techno Spark (Where the sparking will be timed by a 64 bit microcomputer to give best performance and fuel economy) etc.

All bikes above 200cc will be sold and serviced by ProBiking centers, which will be rebranded as Pulsar Super biking centers (Super indicates the more powerful Chetak brand scooters which will also now  be sold and serviced here).

The Scooter segment will see the revival of the super successful Chetak brand. Henceforth all scooters (automatic/geared) will be called Chetak. A or M will be used to denote Automatic or Manual gears. On offer will be the Chetak 100A, 90A, 125A and 150A. They are designed to take on Honda, Hero Honda, Mahindra two wheeler and Suzuki offerings like Activa, Rodeo, duro, flyte, Access etc. Also On Offer will be Chetak 125M and 150M scooters for people who like manual transmissions. All scooters above 175cc will be called Chetak Super CCC (engine capacity). All scooters will also feature the DTS tag.

The three wheeler segment will see revival of the Autorickshaw brand name. There will be new offerings in this segment to take on rivals like APE and TVS. The vehicles will be named ARCCCSPL (AR-AutoRickshaw, CCC- engine CC, SPL-Special Features). On offer will be AR150MET (for Metros and cities with low emission Norms), AR150NMT(Non Metros), AR150APT(special Airport rickshaw with space to accommodate the typical large Soft luggage used by flyers). AR250APT (250 cc airport spl). The rickshaws will have special foreigner traffic mode called FART for Foreigner Auto Rear Tuktuk, which will create authentic TukTuk noise that the foreigners like. This will be endorsed by the Tourism board and will be featured in the next Daniel boyle movie. All rickshaws will also sport the DTS tag.

A common feature across all three segments will be LED taillights, Digital Console, 3D tags etc.

The four wheeler segment has yet to take on a name. But will likely be Amby or Model T.

Kesal juga rasanya kalo mengalami bocor ban. Apalagi bagi para pengguna motor bergaya supermoto yang sudah pakai pelek tipe jari-jari lebar dan mahal. Pasti sayang kalo dibongkar, karena bikin lecet atau rusak saat dicungkil tukang tambal ban pakai obeng khusus buatannya itu.

Solusinya? “Gampang. Pelek itu dibikin jadi tubeless aja,” anjur Samsul, mekanik Caos Custom di Jl. Pancoran Barat No.8, Jaksel. Lho emang bisa dan kuat? “Bisa. Saya udah terapkan di beberapa motor konsumen, tetap oke!” jaminnya.

Cara itu selain pelek jari-jari bebas rusak saat proses penambalan, juga kalo  ban bocor gak langsung kempis. “Apalagi kalau lagi turing keluar kota, berguna sekali,” tambahnya. Oke, kita lihat aja yuk, gimana sih, si Samsul bikinnya!

“Pertama siapkan silicone glass sealant, berikut tempat untuk lem yang berbentuk tabung ini, pemanas khusus untuk memasang kaca film mobil dan alat untuk meratakan lem itu (gbr.1),” ungkapnya.

Barang-barang itu bisa kita tebus di material dengan harga lem sekitar Rp 35 ribu satu botol, sedang tempat lemnya Rp 15 ribu. Setelah semua siap, langsung balur lem itu ke bagian pelek secara merata (gbr.2).

“Kalo bisa, lem sebagian dulu sekitar 15 cm lalu diratakan dengan alat yang sudah disiapkan  (gbr.3), lalu disambung lagi sampai seterusnya,” saran pria berbodi kurus ini sembari bilang, pentil khusus ban tubelessnya juga dipasang.

Tujuannya, tentu agar pentil juga menempel dengan kuat. Sehingga angin ban juga enggak nyeplos dari peranti itu. “Oh ya, harga pentilnya sekitar Rp 15 ribu bisa didapat di tukang tambal ban atau toko ban,” ungkapnya lagi.

Nah, pemakaian lem itu untuk satu pelek ukuran sekitar 3-4 ½ inci bisa menghabiskan satu setengah botol. Karena pelek ukuran lebar tersebut diameternya pun sudah terlihat besar, berarti pemakaiannya pun lumayan banyak. “Tapi buat pelek standar  sih cuma satu atau setengah botol aja,” ujarnya.

Berikutnya pengeringan lem, bisa dengan tenaga matahari atau lampu tembak khusus buat ngecat motor. Tapi semua itu butuh waktu lama. Makannya Samsul pakai alat pemanas kaca film khusus mobil agar keringnya merata. Waktu yang diperlukan sekitar dua jam.

Keringkan secara merata sampai bagian dalam pelek dengan peranti yang sudah kita siapakan tadi (gbr.4). Lalu diamkan sekitar 15 menit untuk memastikan lem benar-benar kering. “Karena kalo masih basah, anginnya bisa bocor,” wanti Samsul.

Kalo yakin lem sudah keras, silakan pasang ban. Isi dengan angin, lalu cermati. Apa sudah oke atau ada kebocoran. Ngetesnya, bisa direndam dalam bak berisi air. “Kalau ada gelembung udara, berarti pengeleman perlu diulang agar tak ada bocor dan sempurna,” tutup mekanik yang sudah 8 tahun kerja di Caos Custom ini sembari menambahkan, konsekuensinya karena pelek dikasih lem, otomatis akan tambah bobot.

The legendary French space-rock group. On their debut “Pollen” the media had them promoted as the French PINK FLOYD, though they were a lot more original than that would suggest, with much use of flute and electronics. They had a uniquely French sound. PULSAR’s third album, issued in 1977, “Halloween” (a conceptual “horror-rock” symphonic opus) is generally considered one of the ten best symphonic albums in the world. A masterpiece of refinement. Definitely indispensable for all progressive rock fans! “The Strands of the Future” contained beautiful, spacey, symphonic progressive music along the lines of PINK FLOYD, GENESIS, the early ELOY albums. This album featured some of their finest work, particularly the 26 minute mostly instrumental title-track. The atmosphere is enhanced by fantastic passages for mellotron. Probably as good or even better than “Halloween”! An excellent album!

Every time I hear The National’s Fake Empire- or, really, any song from that album- I think of my first car. My Nintendo DS is nestled in the tray under the parking brake handle, it’s linked to my car stereo, and it’s playing The National.

It’s more than a thought. It’s like when you’re swimming for long enough, and you get out of the water and you still feel something tiny inside of you that still thinks its floating. Sometimes I think of that black Nissan and feel like I’m still driving it.

I can feel the clutch, a bit spongy from years of use, the welcoming driver’s seat, the steering- surprisingly heavy- and the engine pulling eagerly at 4000rpm; I see the night lighting on Route 7 and the flowing bends of the road and the whites pinks and blues of a Lawson in the distance.

I’m going to, or from, the city, and I look forward to reaching my destination. I’m even driving briskly. But that’s because I love to drive, not because I want it to end. Every time I parked that car after the Route 7 drive- every time- I would look back at it in regret as I walked up to the apartment. We’ll be back on the road in a few hours. I promise.

Pulsar. Tontura. Enfim, o estado de torpor.

Estranho seria se não houvesse um retorno, mas esta não é a realidade da vida: uma ação, uma reação, uma conseqüência lógica ou aglomerações insanas de dúvidas e castigos de personalidades.

O impacto às vezes é muito profundo, inegável sentimento de realidade alternativa. Mas não é. É só abrir os olhos e ver que tudo sempre esteve ali a minha disposição: conceitos e fatos. Era só olhar e aceitar essa disposição em preto e branco. A dor existe porque nos iludimos com verdades que fabricamos.

Muito forte a presença do real. Irônico, diria! Neste canto do mundo a espera de uma sensação real e ordinária, simples e selvagem. Apenas algumas atitudes e nunca certas palavras. O original afinal existe e caminha em ziguezague pelas avenidas.

Pulsar. Tontura. Enfim, o despertar.

Incrível choque do sim e do não, contestando o conhecimento, as lógicas adquiridas, as emoções repaginadas. Pura agressão na boca do estômago, revirando o óbvio e revelando o que já estava ali escondido ou esquecido.

Agora eu vejo onde errei e me perdi nas pequenas distorções do inconsciente. Não nas palavras e nas rimas, mas na elaboração de oratórias vazias, descrente de sua eficácia. Pendi mais para discursos prolixos e uma inércia de ações, aplicações e execuções sumárias.

Tudo me parece tão simples agora, como um caminhar a grandes passos em linha reta. As confusões estão latentes a priori, mas logo elas se acalmarão, reduzindo seus estados a murmurinhos descompassados.

Pulsar. Tontura. Enfim, a aceitação.

O contato com a realidade é irrevogável e não existem argumentações contrárias. Não quero mais fugir do absoluto do caos. Isso nada mais é do que a conclusão de um roteiro, uma constatação dos paradigmas existenciais.

Comprovação do natural e selvagem sem máscaras e eufemismos. O pulsar do confronto. Coragem e transmutação. Sorria, esta é uma oportunidade única, um estado de graça da agressão polida e bem comportada.

What’s in a name? I often hear this question when I ask my friends to choose a good name for any team that one of us forms. I feel that the success of a product/team aids greatly to its success. Why, even a person’s name/nickname can help in making things easier! So, how does a name really make a difference/ create the difference??  Of course, just a good name can’t ensure success, but it definitely can give that initial success that is badly needed/ make things easier/increase profits or simply give you an edge over the others.

The name can be very relevant to its theme or to itself. I attended placements for ThoughtWorks.  I had gone through the company’s background and its employees’ blogs etc.,  I was asked in my interview to tell about some of the blogs that I had seen, if any. I had simply seen too many blogs – but I remembered only one and I still remember it – its blog title is MyThoughtsAtWork.

Controversial names also often do a lot of good by creating publicity – one such instance is the Tamil movie Virumaandi

The movie’s proposed name was changed because of heavy opposition and this created enormous publicity to it – it definitely saved a lot of work right? You don’t have to create the publicity, others do it for you

Funny nicknames have so many times given that ‘popularity’ to our friends. Also noticeable is how stylish names contribute to success – example : Pulsar bikes. Or if the product name is so different that it arouses curiosity to anyone who might hear it then it might add on to its success too.  Example , say some company has the biggest ever name then it makes people and the media notice the company.

So what does a good name really do? It mainly creates easy publicity. Publicity creates customers. Customers build a customer base. Customer base creates a brand. A brand name ensures (well..almost!) success. What do you say?
