I know, two posts in one day! BUT I really wanted to get this challenge entered and today is the last day so two it is.

The lovely CherylAnn from Try Stampin’ on Tuesday gave us a sketch to work from for this weeks challenge. The design Team made some fabulous samples too , my favourite was the Clockworks one by Nancy. Here is the sketch

And here is what I did with it.

The teddy bear pattern was from an old card making mag I had and he has been tweaked to make him more dimensional. Have a close look

I got to use my brand new Delicate Doilies sizzlit L Die with some of that yummy DSP from Snow Festival. Cute huh!

Dont forget about the Papercrafters Day this Sunday 10-4 here in Leseton and the Bowling Club

Earlier this week I was playing around in My Digital Studio. I wanted to make a creation for this

Earlier this week I was playing around in My Digital Studio. I wanted to make a creation for this weeks challenge on MyDigitalStudio.net – the challenge was to create something with a Halloween theme. I ended up playing around with digital punch art. Now I don’t think creating digital punch art is any faster than real punch art. But the next 20 or 30 copies of the same creation will be 100 times easier!! And fortunately with the new Crop feature in MDS2 it is sooo much better than it was before. So I made a Mr. Bones using digital punch art -

But then I really wanted to get him out of the computer. I saved my file as a .jpg and then printed on my home computer – I printed 4 to a piece of card stock and printed it on Very Vanilla card stock. I let him sit on my table for a couple of days before deciding what to do with him. Finally he turned into a hybrid card – pretty simple really – cut out the layer – added it to a Crumb Cake card base, added some Crumb Cake Tulle and a real punch art bone! Here is the hybrid card -

What do you think? I think he is kind-of fun! Now head on over to mydigitalstudio.net – look in the samples under Halloween and go LIKE my card – each week Stampin’ Up! picks a winner of the challenge – let’s see if Mr. Bones can win this week!

Lucky me, this card earned me both another First Place and Special Prize! I haven’t tried this fold before but it has been on my To Do list for a while and was actually pretty easy. The teddy was on that list too and turned out very cute each piece is hand cut and sponged as are the balloons and pennants.

The parcels are just strips of paper folded to add dimension, edges sponged and then tied with Bakers twine. The green starry paper is from the Snow Festival DSP pack in the Holiday catalogue and the stripe is from Comfort Cafe in the Annual catalogue as is the Cajun Craze one. Here is what the card fold looks like from the side

Dont forget about the October promotion where you can get FREE ribbon when you make a $70 purchase. the other great thing is that there is NO LIMIT on how many rolls you can earn! Also MARK your diary for the next Papercrafters Day here in Leeston on October 28th, dont forget to let me know if your coming. We are focusing on Christmas this month and I will be demonstrating how to make a Christmas Ornament similar to the one on the cover of the Holiday Catalogue!

Ive forgotten to post this quick tutorial for my Gisborne Ladies.. so have quickly taken a photo of the punches/dies you need to do this Santa tag. I saw this post and pinned it on pinterest. Ive just adapted it to SU punches and dies.

You need to cut out two of the Holiday Ornament dies. One in red and one in white. With the white one, sponge with pink pirouette on the top third. With the red one (for hat), punch with the Decorative Label punch (you could also use the curly label too). Discard the red part or punch out a small circle for the nose. I actually used the owl punch as I had it on my table but a Half inch circle punch would do the trick too (I know a lot of you have the owl punch and the Blossom punch). Punch out two blossom punchies in white. See photo for what you need. The large blossom is for the hair under the red hat. Stack up the moustache pieces with bits of dimensionals and add the nose with some glue. Draw in the eyes with a black marker pen.

All done!

Or is he a worm – perhaps a book worm

I have been incredibly busy just recently, with a lot of cards and gift tags going out to various charities for fundraising events. I have one more lot of these to get done, but only a small one so that should be done this week.
I then have to focus on getting some things done for a display that I will be having at the Brighton Library in November. So busy times for me, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been crafting, just not doing much blogging. I will do my best to keep you up to date though.
Happy stamping!

This post will remain at the top through Sunday, October 7. For more recent blogs, please scroll down.

It’s time for another “Fall-i-Days” blog hop! You may have gotten here from Kath Ricks’s blog. Isn’t she amazing? Kath’s work always blows me away. She’s so talented. If you’re just starting the hop, though, you can go forward through all the stops or use back buttons to hop backwards. Or you can use the home button to go to the home page and see all the stops.

My first project is a Veterans’ Day card. My uncle sends an e-mail every year on Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day with names and pictures of family members who have served in the military, and this card is dedicated to them and to all the men and women who have sacrificed so much to keep our country safe and free.

Click on photo to view larger image.

I used my friend Susan Horr’s design again, and the Affection Collection stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday catalog, with Real Red, Midnight Muse and Whisper White. For the Thank You banner (cut with a Bitty Banner framelit), I inked the stamp in Real Red, then thumped it with a Midnight Muse marker to make it Red, White & Blue. I love the silver glimmer paper!

At our craft day last week, my friend Liz brought some decorations she had made, so she is the inspiration behind the next project.

Click on photo to view larger image.

Wouldn’t these be cute at each place setting on Thanksgiving? I meant to mix up the colors in the turkey feathers, but forgot. Rachel says it kind of looks like a color wheel. (I have ROY G, but no BV.) I used circle and scallop circle punches for most of it. I used the Boho Blossoms punch for the beak and feet. I made a little stand for the back so he’ll sit up on his own and not fall over into the gravy or dressing and get eaten by accident.

Click on photo to view larger image.

I made a napkin ring using leftover leaves from another project. I die cut them with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die (from Sizzix for Stampin’ Up!®), then crumpled them and inked them a little. Some were die cut from Champagne glimmer paper, and I used Heat & Stick powder and glitter on one. I used a glue gun to glue all the leaves to a glimmer paper ring.

And last – a Thanksgiving card. This also uses the Autumn Accents Bigz die, as well as the Comfort Cafe’ designer series paper, Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon and the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark stamp pad.

Click on photo to view larger image.

Again, I die cut the leaves, then crumpled them and added ink. I stamped the “Happy Thanksgiving” message in versamark, dumped on black powder, then remembered I had left my heat tool and my spare at the office. Did you know the toaster really does heat embossing powder in a pinch? Just use tweezers so you don’t burn your fingers. And don’t drop the paper into the toaster! Keep a firm grip.

That’s all for me! Your next stop is Marsha

Hello my blogland friends!!!!

How are you all today? Hope you are getting lots of eye-candy in while blog hopping around, or maybe you are getting inky fingers while making something wonderful!!! Please tell me where I can find your work, would love to see it.
Well today I have been prettying up my craft room. I have realised that although I make pretty cards, boxes and other things, there is nothing other than my inspiration wall and my ribbon hanger that really looks pretty. Everything is serviceable, rather than pretty.

I am going to change that.

Get a go at this for my scrap cardstock bin.

This is my original (thank you Sunday Telegraph) scrap cardstock box. It originally was brightly striped gloss finish, but was starting to get a little shabby, so I have covered it with my fav colours and fave papers (well the last of them really) Bo Bunny Shabby Princess series (garden something) which I loved, stripes, dots, floral and circles, and colours to die for!!!. Sad cannot get it anymore. But now I will be able to look at those gorgeous colours every single day in my room.

The box was covered with papers, paint dabbered around all edges, sprayed with Perfect Pearl, ribboned, flowered, fibred, pearled and owled!!! Oh butterflied too.

I love it.

There are 7 separators with Owl Tabs to keep my colours in their own area. I have used a label die on the corner of the tab, added the owl (cutie) and finished with some ribbon and cotton string.

I love all those googley eyes looking at me!!

I am really pleased with this finished item and now I should be able to find all those smaller bits of card that used to get lost in the box.
So this is the finished overall photo, yes I think a job well done.

Yes I have lots of yellow at the moment, from making the party boxes a while back. Might have to start doing yellow honeycomb cards with my newish hexagon die…
Thanks for calling in, hope you are having a great day!!

Hugs

Well … we are back from our long weekend away … and it was just the most wonderful break! The house (booked sight unseen) was fabulous for a big family … it had a wonderful view. The weather was a little cool but sunny & pleasant. The beach was beautiful (and patrolled) … the water was freezing ( ) & the meals were easy! We had 12 people in the house … but it didn’t feel a crowd! Bree had the entire family wound around her little finger … and we had such fun with her! It was so lovely just to relax … read … watch DVDs … walk on the beach … watch 2 footy grandfinals … do crosswords … go to the park with Bree … etc etc. No work … no responsibilities … just what we needed! I have a couple more MALE cards to share! I did tell you that I had a run of MALE birthdays didn’t I!?

This was one I created for a nephew’s birthday. I had fun playing with my new fence & grass dies from Sweet n’ Sassy and I found these aliens all over blog world … so copied a few for myself! (Not a straight CASE … just CASE-ed the aliens.) Isn’t it just the funniest card! Those aliens don’t look scary at all.

We are all un-packed & tidied up … so I might sit & enjoy our last afternoon of the holiday weekend. Hope to see you again soon … but Sheree & I do have to finalise all the invitation & programme details for the wedding so we can get all the printing done. That will take some time this week … but hopefully there will be some time for blogging!

I must say I had a great day yesterday with the ladies who attended my Monthly Papercrafters Day here in Leeston. We had lots of laughs and got to meet some new people while sharing something we all enjoy.

One of my newcomers brought her Earthquake Album that she has been working on. She had been collecting paper cuttings and photos along the way from our first big one in Sep 2010 through the devastation of Feb 22 right up to the present and wanted to DO something with them so launched herself into the world of scrapbooking to record her journey through this trying time. It was a real honour to have this special record shared with us.

I showed the ladies lots of ways to use up your scraps including these cards using up strips of paper.

And another version of the punched out version using ribbon instead of paper strips.

So if you would like to come along next month and join in the fun mark down the last Sunday of the month on your calendar!!

One of the wee ones I work with is turning 5. I have known her since she was just 10 days old and have watched her grow through all this time. I will be sad to see her move on to school but she will have a great time and keep growing into the wonderful person she is going to be. So this had to be a really special card!!

A little bit larger than the normal A5 Card base with the addition of the wheels but it sure has a Regal feeling too it, like your just waiting for the beautiful Princess to climb out of it! Have a look inside, I used the Labels CollectionFramelits to cut the carriage shape and the aperture for the window. The flower stamp and Sentiment come from the Topsy Turvy Celebration Set and the colours are Wisteria Wonder, Melon Mambo and Bashful Blue.

Just another wee reminder about the PAPERCRAFTERS DAY tomorrow between 10-4. Contact me to find out more.

PS I will have all my retired stock there to sell too.

Oh My this week on the Mix It Up Challenge on SCS our Miss Lynn challenged us to make a simple card.

Oh My this week on the Mix It Up Challenge on SCS our Miss Lynn challenged us to make a simple card. Well as you know I am not a CAS type person, I love embellishing and I love the journey of the making, the time spent.

I can make a CAS card in 5 mins and feel so robbed by doing this. But I put myself right out there and came up with these two little beauties.

The first one took a little time….. oh ok about 10 mins, 15 with glue drying and punching time.

Simple, easy and colourful happy birthday card. Some bling on the flowers. And the chance to use the die cutter. The stamp is by Stamp-It Australia.

But then I thought, this is not really a CAS card, go on girl get one done…. so..

Now this fits the bill. Stamped with Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink, top to bottom, so the ink layers over the one above. I love Fluid Chalk, it is a dye ink, but has the opacity of pigment and will layer so well so long as the ink it is going over is dry. Gives great coverage and will blend when you want it to. The sentiment stamp is by Kaszazz and the butterfly is a Penny Black. Love Penny Black stamps. I got to be creative with the Liquid Pearls, so pretty and this card got me a mention in CAS card of the week on SCS, how cool is that.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is great!!!!
Hugs

I admit this is also one I had seen somewhere and it would have been helpful to know where so I could have gone back and got sizes and shapes so I wouldn’t have to experiment and think as hard as I had to to get it right : ) I will have to find something else to do with all the cast off shapes I put aside!

This weeks Sketch Challenge was to create something from from Sketch #139.

I started making something “thoughtful and Christmas-ey,” but somehow it ended up being Sponge Bob! Not sure how this happens; sometimes the card just takes on a life of it’s own.

I am sure some kid will just love this though, so into the OWH box it goes! I’ll have to make another one for my favorite Sponge Bob fan, my grandson.

Here Goes. Enjoy and take every opportunity to “color outside of the lines.”

Hello Everyone,

Well here we go again. In the Alphabet Challenge over on SCS I was dared to make a card with a camera on it, so I had to think about that for a while. Then I thought again and decided to make it a real ‘Cee’ card as well.

I have a Cerulean blue background, with a Child with her Camera, in a Coat and Cap, coloured with Chalks and Crayons, and Cut out and placed on a Circle and a Copse of trees stamped in Copper Ink with a foreground of Cork, embellished with Cotton stitching, some Cord, a Clip and a sentiment of Cherish among the Clouds

Cute and can you believe that all that is packed into this card??? I wonder if Dani will let me get away with this. I love to push the envelope, and she would prefer I just posted it!!!
It is such fun on SCS playing and crafting with friends and stretching my mind as well.!!

Thanks for calling in, hope you have a great day!!

Hugs

Welcome to our first ever Pinkies Blog Hop. We’ll be showcasing lots of gorgeous projects using products from the new Stampin’ Up!® Autumn Winter Seasonal Catalogue.

Our blog hop buttons will help guide you on your way.

We love comments, so please do tell us what you think!

For today’s hop, I took one sentiment, some designer series paper, cardstock and glitter

and made a set of 12 Christmas cards.

Cherry cobbler is a beautiful shade of Christmassy red, and embellishments were easy to make using the merry minis punch pack.

Next I used lucky limeade – almost traditional, but with a modern twist …

And for a completely modern look I used marina mist with very vanilla and whisper white …

beautiful blues with added dazzling diamonds and adhesive rhinestones for sparkle …

And finally, I used neutral colours, putting crumb cake with whisper white and very vanilla too …

with a splash of cherry cobbler here and there …

The patterns of the snow festival and festival of prints designer series paper complement each other beautifully, and the colours match and tone too, so both sets co-ordinate perfectly.

Here’s what you need to make today’s cards – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!

designer series paper (dsp): snow festival, festival of prints; cardstock: very vanilla, whisper white, cherry cobbler, lucky limeade, crumb cake, marina mist; stamp set: teeny tiny wishes; ink: early espresso; punches: modern label, merry minis punch pack, decorative label; accessories: adhesive rhinestones, stampin’ dimensionals, two way glue pen, dazzling diamonds.

This is the card I made for my daughter’s birthday. She loves tigers!!! Anything with tigers!

This is the card I made for my daughter’s birthday. She loves tigers!!! Anything with tigers! So I challenged myself to make a tiger for her! I was quite pleased with how he turned out!!! I used the beautiful Patio Party Designer Series Paper for the background with the Framed Tulip embossing folder around (in Not quite Navy blue card stock). The card base is Pumpkin Pie. Making the tiger was really fun, except for the black stripes that I cut and glue by hand… Very tedious! See the list of punches I used at the end of the post. I scored the leaves to make them more realistic! (I love to do that!!!)

Stamp set: Invitation (retired)

CS and paper: Patio Party Designer Series Paper, Pumpkin Pie, Not quite Navy, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Whisper White, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight

Ink: Midnight Muse, Basic Black marker

Tools: Big Shot and Framed Tulip embossing folder, stylus.

Punches: 1-1/4″ Circle (head), 1/2″ Circle (face: white part, ears), Owl Builder (eyes, nose, inside ears), Boho Blossoms (feet), Extra Large Oval (body), Large Oval (body, white part), Blossom Petals Builder (leaves).

I mentioned that I’d be posting our Halloween decorations for your to see. We’re not completely done, but it’s only September – I’m not ready to go full-swing yet! I’m going to take this entire week to show you everything. Disclaimer: I’ve seen most of the ideas on Pinterest, and modified them to either fit what we like or Stampin’ Up!-anized them. Another disclaimer: I’m not into scary Halloween, but I’m perfectly fine with cute, funny, and Pottery Barn-like!

Here’s our main bathroom:

Ha! I loved this when I saw it, but there was no way I was cutting pieces by hand for the “peeking toilet” as I’ve affectionately named it. No need to – with a few Stampin’ Up! punches, you’re all set! I used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch (white eyes), 3/4″ Circle Punch (black eyes), and the Mitten Builder Punch (fingers).

How do you do it? Punch 6 mittens and cut the thumbs off of them. Tuck the side with the cuff under the angled black paper and you’re all set! I used Scotch tape donuts to adhere everything so it doesn’t ruin the toilet and it comes off easily.

For the hands holding the toilet paper, purchase some inexpensive kid-sized gloves. I found mine at Jo-Ann Fabrics in the dollar bin (perfect!). I stuffed the fingers with the brown packing paper that comes in Stampin’ Up! shipments, and pipe cleaners (so they bend). The original Pinterest post suggests using aluminum foil wrapped in fabric. I suspect it stays in place much better than mine!

Both of these are a hit with Hayden. They were greeted with a “WHOA!!” and a “Nice to meet you!” (shaking hands with the gloves). Success.

On the cover of our Holiday catalogue is this fabulous ornament.

Now I havent decided that I cant live without the Stamp set and Framelits used to make this yet so I thought about what I ALREADY have to see if I could come up with something similar. And….Viola! I did!

Here is my version using the Ornament Punch, Tags til Christmas Stamp Set, Blossom Petals Punch, Be of Good Cheer DSP, Cherry Cobbler tulle ribbon and of course a pearl although the new Giant ones would have been better : )

I did have to pull out the old Glue Gun to put it all together but the new Silicone Mat made clean up a breeze. No more drippy glue stuck to everything. It all just peels off the mat so easily, I definitely cant live without it now and you’ll see why when I can share my current project with you in a few weeks. Lots of paper piecing and tiny bits!

Anyway here are the side and back views of the ornament

If you havent got your new 2012-2013 Annual and Holiday Catalogues yet Email me! to get them sent out to you for $8 plus postage. Dont forget about next Sundays Papercrafters Day Sept 30th 10-4 and THIS weekend I will be at Expo Leeston! So pop in and say Hi! If you are in the area.

I have a pile of work to do … so have to make this quick! I found this fabulous idea recently on Valita’s Designs & Fresh Folds. What a funky card … and perfect for a nephew’s 18th birthday! So … I did my own version … this time a CHOCOLATE milkshake! Valita has a template for this design on her blog … so make sure you pop by and check it out!

So … I couldn’t resist using some of my silver glimmer card to make it a little more special (seeing it was for an 18th) … but I wanted to add a little colour so I tried colouring the glimmer paper with my SU! markers! Guess what! It worked! I did have to do it a couple of times over to give it more depth … but I think it looks great! I think you can see the “Pool Party” colour on the 18. I am sure a darker colour would work better … like the Island Indigo on the straw!

Well … it is a busy week ahead! Sometimes I look at my diary and wonder how it is all going to work! On Wednesday I have to be in 3 places at the one time (School/Sydney/Hospital) … so obviously that ISN’T going to be possible … I will have to think about that dilemma! Hope you all have a nice easy week ahead!

Believe it or not I sent this card to a dear friend that turned 50 this year and hope she had a Hoppy Birthday!

This card is too cute for words and is a card that I have reserved for friends hitting a milestone birthday. The inside sentiment states that you are never to old to do Goofy stuff! How true is that? Lots of ovals in all sizes were combined to create this fun and Goofy Punch art card. This punched piece would also work great on a Disney scrapbook page. Be bold and do something goofy today!

My parents celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this past Tuesday! I’m so blessed to have

My parents celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this past Tuesday! I’m so blessed to have such a great family and I couldn’t have better parents. This is the card I made for them:

My biggest challenge with this was to make something that even Dad might like – not too frilly! For that reason, I decided to use Patio Party DSP and the new InColors, using mostly colors other than pink.

I created a pattern for a small envelope, basically through trial and error. Then I punched many many many small hearts and placed them with glue dots. I used glue dots for two reasons: 1) They give just enough dimension without the height of a dimensional; and 2) Those hearts are just so small that I don’t have the patience for tape runner! I carried the theme inside with two hearts in green and the “Happy Anniversary” sentiment.

SUPPLIES USED

Paper: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White, Patio Party DSP

Ink: Midnight Muse

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Punches: Small Heart

Accessories: White Baker’s Twine, Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sticky Strip Adhesive
