Iti multumesc pentru interesul pe care il ai vis-a-vis de blogul meu.

Observ (cu foarte mare placere) ca citesti aproape fiecare post in parte cu multa atentie si imi oferi cate un comentariu pe aproape fiecare post. Mai observ deasemenea ca nu citesti si reply-urile de la commenturi si acest lucru ma dezamageste. Te-as ruga sa te mai uiti din cand in cand si la raspunsurile ce ti le ofer – iti garantez ca te va ajuta in contactarea mea si nu vei fi dezamagita. Sper ca nu interpretezi gresit acest lucru, nu e intentia mea.

Daca vrei neaparat sa ma contactezi ai 2 optiuni simplute (zic eu):
- trimiti un mail la adresa de mail precizata aici
- in momentul cand mai dai un comment, pune la adresa de e-mail adresa cu care intri pe messenger

In momentul cand imi vei indeplini dorinta asta, in mod cert te voi cauta eu si vom discuta pe larg. Garantez, jur, promit solemn, pe cuvantu’ meu de onoare si de cercetas! Eventual, la aceasta scrisorica te-as ruga sa imi dai niste detalii despre tine: de unde esti, ce varsta ai, cum ai dat de blogul meu… nu mai e nevoie sa precizezi inaltimea si greutatea pentru ca ai facut-o si pare destul de interesant. N-as vrea sa fiu rautacios, dar trebuie sa intreb si sper sa nu interpretezi ca as face misto: judecand dupa felul cum scrii, as spune ca varsta ta e cuprinsa intre 16 – 20 de ani, ma insel? De fapt, hai sa nu iti mai pun prea multe intrebari: fa ce ti-am spus in paragraful anterior si iti garantez ca nu vei avea dezamagiri. Repet: garantez, jur, promit slemn, pe cuvantu’ meu de onoare si de cercetas.

1 + DOUA!

Well, it’s been a while since I last posted, primarily because with the Silly Season upon us, I’ve had very little time to sit down at my computer.

For the last two weeks, I’ve continued working with Kai on basics such as recall, getting a good, instant ‘distance down’, general search games and socialising.

Unfortunately, the socialising has hit a hitch.  During one of our walks, I made the mistake of letting Kai approach a man who said his cattle dog (on a leash) was friendly.   Not only do I know that quite often dogs can be more aggressive on leash than off, but I also listened to the owner, rather than the dog itself.  The dog forged on its leash when Kai approached licking and wiggling, its ears were forward and its tail was up.  What does that add up to?  Nothing much good for a cocky little puppy.

The dog wasn’t dangerous but it did roar, and Kai had a heart attack.  He got his leash tangled and cried, then tried to climb me to get away.  The owner was friendly and very apologetic and was responsible in keeping his dog on a leash – the mistake was all mine.  I’d been trying to make sure that if a dog was friendly, Kai would be allowed to approach it to improve his confidence.  It’s always possible that when this particular dog was a pup, he’d had a similar experience as when Kai was next approached by a benign labrador who was only interested in sniffing (very laid back, gentle, elderly) Kai attacked and couldn’t be calmed.

Now his tail was up, his ears forward, his growl out in force.  Tail still wagging – not a lost cause yet, but in need of some friendly dog reassurance.  We’ll be working on that in the next week or so and I’ll let you know the progress.

In the meantime, my little explorer somehow managed to cover himself in tree sap at the park.  I cut the worst of it out of his fur, but a patch near his left eye couldn’t be fixed so I checked on remedies.

For the record, butter didn’t make a blind bit of difference, but it did make my dog smell like an unbaked cake.

I will be trying other things until I get it off and will update this post when I find something that actually works!  Currently trying baby oil on the affected area – but because of the proximity to his eye, I’m trying to avoid things that give off harmful fumes.

There has been one other breakthrough – I can now let him sleep outside his crate at night and he will let me know if he needs to go outside, although generally he sleeps right through.

He sleeps between his crate, the carpet and a dog blanket beside my bedside table depending on how hot he is and is pretty good.  Toilet training’s going great – he’ll now go to the door and sit on the mat, whining to let me know.

I always teach my dogs ‘what do you want, show me’ which basically is the prompt for them to take me to their water bowl, food bowl or door – or show me the spider they’ve trod into the lounge carpet.  Very useful.  Although Kai has quite distinct sounds for his puppy-demands.

A bark that sounds like ‘A-roo!’ is his ‘I’m hungry!’ bark, and he tends to whine and yip when he needs to go out to the toilet and is being ignored.  When he needs water, he comes and licks me and looks pathetic (he has two bowls  in the house so this doesn’t happen often).

When he wants to play, he just comes and thrusts a spit-soaked toy at any bare part of your body until you either play with him or put the toy in the washing machine in disgust.

And bones or no bones, he has the absolute worst gas problem I’ve ever encountered in a dog.  So disgusting that the smell actually seems to have a solid presence.  I checked with the vet and he said if it continues for the next few months to try changing his food.  I’ve bought a 7.5kg of Euky and frankly if after eating that bag he’s still making these smells, we will have to try something else!

Kai at 15 weeks

My newest addition arrived at my home Wednesday afternoon, December 9, via an animal rescue group from the Burney/Fall River Mills area called SNIPPP.

They brought to our home a 10 month old male pup named “Bingo” who is ¾ Australian Kelpie and ¼ Queensland Heeler.

He is a FOSTER dog that I am helping to rehabilitate so he goes with me to Petco and helps me teach my dog classes.

He came from an elderly man who had beaten the dog and threw him outside in 6 below zero weather. He had no fenced in yard in the mountains and the dog was often found running along the side of the roads and wandering. He was terribly mistreated and SNIPPP had been trying to get the man to surrender the dog to them for quite some time.

The rescue group paid to have him neutered in November and he got at least a Rabies shot, but hadn’t had any other vaccinations.

He was starving for love and attention. He is very smart and learns commands very quickly. It is a delight to work with such a sweet dog. It is also sad to see him belly crawl and cringe and the slightest movement that reminds him of his mistreatment.

He had never been on a leash, been in a crate and stayed outside most of the time. He is now wearing a no-pull harness by Premier (the makers of the Gentle Leader Head Halter) and is walking on a leash beautifully.

He is now crate trained, knows several basic commands and gets along with all the other animals in my household and with my roommate, Dee. Except I must say Skippy and one of our cats, Alexandria Rose don’t like him, but Bingo is smart enough to stay out of their way.

I will keep working with him at least through January and see him through his second set of vaccinations and get him ready for adoption, with nice manners when he is ready to be placed again.

Dee & I have since renamed him, “Christmas Beau Ty,” and call him “Beau Ty.” It seems to fit him perfectly.

I will keep you posted on “Christmas Beau Ty” and all his activities. We are looking forward to my sister and her Sheltie, Traveler, coming up for the Christmas holidays. We shall see how Beau works out with Traveler.

The season’s first major snow storm blew through on Sunday. Luigi Parkrabarti (13-months) was unfazed. The spinone’s famous webbed feet morphed into puppy snowshoes. The dog was in his wintery element.

“I used my nose as a snowplow!” Parkrabarti said.

“And then we had to spend 30 minutes pulling all the ice off his fur and out from between his toes,” his mom, Meghna, added with a sigh.

HELP!!!
These adorable, innocent and healthy dogs will die of heart stick if no one adopt or rescue them ASAP!

For an academically challenged canine like me, the cloistered life of books isn’t befitted.  The other day, Calvy was too busy to play frisbee with me, browsing through his MBA course ware with eyes darted at the page at one instant and on the window at the other; waywardly his retina navigated behind his spectacles…so much for enacting intelligence:)

Dog grins are hard to enshroud, you’d know if you were a dog. Anyway, when he caught me mocking him, he  nuzzled in a couch and put off his ‘intelligent glasses’ on the table. With an air of wizardly wand movement he asked me,”Well, what do you think of advertisements? “

“Ahem! Well…It’s promotion of some product or service”,  I said.

“…and usually paid for”, he added.

Now that his ego was satisfied, he was back to his notes and devoid of  his playtime,  the professor in me delved in the  pensive cocoon and recollected some of the most cherished commercials I had ever been subjected to. Naturally,all of them had one thing in common…dogs:)

So here’s presenting the succeeding entry in the Dogged reviews…the TV Commercials!

Well, there is no dearth of talent and wits when it comes to copywriters having dogs in their artwork, yet for the sake of succinctness in the post, I’ve taken the liberty of choosing four. However in the coming posts I’d again reiterate on the idea.

So, here’s presenting the TVC with pups in a starring role…

First we have the amazing campaign by dog food makers Pedigree wherein they embark on a pledge to help a shelter dog get adopted each time their product is bought and they sign off with ‘Dogs Rule’ . Though all the commercials under this campaign were high on emotion yet here are the dog’s pick…

…they say that hope and a little prayer never get unanswered so was true for Echo,here he gets adopted:)

Closer home, in India, the suiting majors Raymonds showed with their commercial that the complete man sports a softer side too.

The Mobile service providers Hutch(now known as Vodafone) build their brand in India riding on the back of a pug. The amazingly cute and unforgettable campaign had many of the master pieces yet the following commercial and the accompanying soundtrack is awesome!

Coming to terms with my momentary lewd conscience, I can’t help but leave you with something to feel light about after the emotional drive.

What? The aforementioned four TVC are already done with, well…I lied…here’s the fourth:)

I have to have to have to tell you this.

These two are…well…I hope they aren’t listening. These two are…crazzzzy!

Here’s what’s been happening right under my nose.

Mr. Mouse returned sometime last week. I wasn’t told anything about it. I did find these two whispering about something behind my back, but I ignored it. I assumed that it was some cozy kootchie-kooing between the two love-birds, so I didn’t ask.

You know why they were talking in whispers? Because they knew that if I came to know about Mr. Mouse, I might give him a chase. These jokers are softer than cotton candy! So, they set up the trap, and tried trapping Mr. Mouse. The first night, they failed – the second night, they failed again…and then the third night…they forgot to check!

Tonight they found a hungry little mouse who had fasted for over 36 hours, in their mouse-trap! And then our Mercury began her histrionics. “Oh, the poor thing. Cameo, please don’t release him tonight. Let’s feed him first. He looks so weak. Oh, we are so wicked! How could we forget to check…” So she went on and on – until I barked right into her ear and asked her to shut up!

Then these two tried to feed Mr. Mouse, who seemed far less interested in eating than he was in escaping. Then Cameo (imagine,) thought that Mr. Mouse must also be thirsty, so he was given some water to drink. Not in my bowl – thank god!

After some more of that sickeningly “mousy” talk, Cameo took the trap outside. You know where? Of course you don’t – let me tell you. Out in the terrace garden, and released him there. He released him in our terrace garden and not into the drain far away from the house. Mr. Mouse ran and hid himself in the gardening tools rack that stands in one corner of our tiny terrace garden!

Mr. Mouse is here to stay! These two are crazy! And I am an overworked, office-going dog, who can’t even delegate a job as simple as trapping a mouse, to her two human assistants!

Maybe not Chester Pup’s First Christmas (that was last year) but this is her first experience of snow.  She was fascinated, charging about the garden, sniffing it…trying to work out what is this?

Sugar, the Forever Mexican, was having none of it…resolutely, sensibly staying indoors.  Curled up on cushions where it is warm.

Me?  I felt like I was 6 years old again.  Amazing that most of the UK is covered in the white stuff.  It’s been many years since I’ve seen this much snow in Norfolk.  Shame it’s melting.

Just wondering whether it will be “Pup” or “Punter” for the next Ashes revenge .  I think  Ricky should still lead coz  he will be thirsting for revenge and he wud want to retire with the Ashes safely back in his backyard. Also ” Pup” is still not too mature and ready to take over the mantle of leadership

McGuinness is Slugger politician of the year (U TV)
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has been named Politician of the Year at the second annual Slugger O’Toole Political Awards in Belfast.
The ceremony organised by the Slugger O’Toole website took place at the Black Box in the city’s Cathedral Quarter on Tuesday night.
The blog is a news and research portal and a forum where people share their views and dialogue on controversial issues. Its awards aim at rewarding good local governance at all levels.
“It was a way of looking at the political game and trying to give some due respect to people who work very hard but often take the sharp end of the stick from the public,” blog founder and editor Mick Fealty explained.
Slugger O’Toole was founded in 2002 and has already become something of an institution.

“It started as a research tool and within a year we had around 1,000 users. Now there are about 30,000 to 40,000 users a month,” Fealty said.
DUP MLA Simon Hamilton won the award for Up-and-Coming Politician of the year.
Sinn Fein’s Cara McShane was named Councillor of the Year, while PUP leader Dawn Purvis won MLA of the Year.
“Some people think politics is very boring and often it is very boring and our assembly can be, but it’s very important in a democratic society to share views”, said comedian Tim Garry who compered the event.
Winners were voted for by a panel of judges including senior politicians, academics, political analysts and journalists from Britain and Ireland.
They received a caricature of themselves drawn by Guardian cartoonist Martin Rowson.

In ea veti (re)gasi o Romanie de ieri si de azi, personaje care par a nu-si pierde din verosimilitate si din actualitate si o atmosfera moderna, nonconformista impregnata cu senzatii auditive si olfactive deosebite.

Combinatia factorilor titlu-subiect-personaje-senzatii-mesaj transmis creeaza o atmosfera tragi-comica, fiind momente in care te trezesti razand, dar in acelasi timp, gandindu-te “Cum pot sa rad ? E tragic!”.

Piesa are un dinamism extraordinar, fiind deseori pus in situatia de a folosi intreaga capacitate vizuala pentru a cuprinde si intelege atat prim-planul, cat si fundalul. România! Te pup a fost inițial o piesă de zece minute scrisă în cadrul workshopului Cum să scrii ceva nou care a avut loc în Bistriţa si Colibița în 2004, workshop coordonat de regizorul american Roberta Levitow şi profesorul Nicolae Mandea, producător Societatea de Concerte Bistrița.

Piesa a fost publicată pentru prima dată în antologia bilingvă 6 piese de 10 minute la Editura Charmides a Societăţii de Concerte Bistriţa în 2005, alături de celelalte piese scrise în cadrul workshopului si prezentată pentru prima dată în lectură publică în cadrul Festivalului Dramaturgiei Românesti din Timisoara în 2004.

În cadrul proiectului After the Fall: Reality and the New Romanian Theatre, realizat la New York în iulie 2006 de către Immigrants Theatre, Roberta Levitow si ICR New York, piesa este prezentată în lectură publică la Martin Segal Theatre, studioul de teatru al City University of New York, împreună cu piesa Stop the tempo! a Gianinei Cărbunariu si Vitamine a Verei Ion.

Prima reprezentaţie a piesei România! Te pup are loc în noiembrie 2006 la 59E59 Theatre în New York în regia lui Kaipo Schwab. Spectacolul a fost produs de Play Company New York.

În 2009, regizorul David Schwartz propune Teatrului Național din Iasi piesa Romania! Te pup. Textul este dezvoltat pentru spectacolul de la Iasi prin colaborarea directă dintre dramaturg si regizor împreună cu actorii si întreaga echipă creativă implicată, miza fiind crearea scenariului pentru acest spectacol, cu specificitățile si particularitățile lui, tinând cont tot timpul de distributie si contextul in care va avea loc spectacolul. Acest tip de colaborare este modul de lucru dezvoltat în teatrul din România de după 2000 de către grupurile dramAcum si tangaProject si se particularizează prin implicarea directă a dramaturgului în procesul de creatie a spectacolului.

What do you do if you come across a seal pup or young seal lying apparently stranded on the beach? The answer it seems is to leave well alone and do nothing. That is the advice one holidaymaker received recently. In a letter to the Tiree newsletter, she wrote:

“While walking along the beach at Caoles, i met 2 holidaymakers standing looking concerned at a young seal which was lying on it’s back on an outcrop of rocks. They didnt know what to do, and being a townie more at home in Partick or the Botanical gardens, neither did i. I phoned several people on the island and their advice was the same “Leave it alone and it’s mum will come back for it. Don’t touch the pup. It may bite you and worse, its mother wont go near if is she smells your scent on her offspring. A few days later a high tide covered the rocks and Sammy the seal was gone. She, or he, was frolicking in the water near the shoreline with 2 fully grown seals, obviously parents. So, if anybody is unsure in future about what to do in a similar situation, they can take a lesson from this experience.
