As you all can tell, (And by “all”, I am talking to the two people who actually read this. Thanks, honey!) I have been completely off the grid for a while. Things have been a little hectic around the ponderosa lately. Thanks to my wife’s overactive ovaries, coupled with my awesome swimmers, my wife got knocked up and subsequently our little girl was born midway through the month of November. This has left me without the basic ability to form cohesive thoughts and perform even the simplest of tasks. I mean, I even got confused on how to change the channel on my own television last night. Between the ever relaxing 57 minutes of consecutive sleep, strict Pop Tart diet,  and watching every single infomercial known to man, I haven’t exactly had any brainpower left to form anything useful or remotely eloquent to say or type for that matter.  So today, I give you the only thing that still sparks interest in my sleep deprived mind. The one and only, Wilford Brimley. When his fat little nugget face pops on my tv at 3am every morning selling diabetes supplies, my mind is immediately soothed. His slow, almost post- stroke vernacular tames every little crazy psychotic thought rolling around in my tiny, tiny brain. At times, I often have delusions of actually having diabetes just so I can purchase the supplies necessary to test myself in the comfort of my own home. I envision myself calling the handy 800 number only to have, Mr. Brimley, himself answer and tell me “Everything’s going to be OK, TJ”. He will follow-up the reassurance by conveniently alerting me that I can have my diabetes supplies shipped directly to my door. What more could I ask for, right? Anyway, I salute you, Wilford. You are my hero. Well, at least until I can sleep again.

Good morning my peeps! 

Okay so I am back up and running.  Woooo Hoooo.  This past weekend was a weekend of perfect tailgating weather, and guess how I spent it….I will wait while you ponder.  You guessed it.  I was TAILGATING! It was an event that happens every other year, the LSU versus Louisiana Tech game. Now do not be confused. Tech and LSU are not rivals, but I happened to spend 3 years at each school in my 6 years of college education.  Half and Half here, I am a Tiger and a Dawg.  That’s right.  I can not choose a side. Hence my best bud and I’s amazing attire:

It was a phenomenal weekend that started with food love.  That’s right my readers. I found my perfect lifetime mate.  His name is Bananas Foster cheesecake.  It had been a while since we had been brought together, but trust me when I tell you I could not compose a thought when that heavenly piece of cheese cake hit my mouth.  However, the free long island ice tea that the bartender served us…I remembered why I go for my bloody mary/red wine/beer/or good ole jack and coke.  It was just too sweet, and all in all disgusting.  I think total we may have had 2 sips of this concoction and moved on with our evening of constructing our fabulous tutus and rocking awesome jerseys.

The next morning: a bit of chick-fil-a breakfast, some wine  purchasing, and off to the tailgate spot.  It was a fabulous time.  We busted open our wine and started getting ready for what was sure to be a nail biter(please note at the time this would have been sarcasm, however, the game, turned out to be much closer than anticipated).  Homecoming parades and great tailgating food.  There was great weather and great friends.  Couldn’t have been better.  Halftime at the game only proved to be better:

That’s right, Tech was ahead. Granted, this lasted until the third quarter when LSU came back and slid another win in there, but all together now “L-O-U-I-S-I-A-N-A  TECH DAWGS!”

The rest of the night is rather a blur, but there was Canes, bloody mary’s, talks of the perfect man, talks of house framing, heart surgeons, Office talk, and then scaling fences.  That’s right I jumped a fence.  However, if I told you the story aka the crime(I kid) I would have to kill you(again I kid).  Okay I will tell you:

So Batista looks at me after I get back from getting breakfast and says, “Remind me to get the clicker to the gate from you.”  We forget and go pick up our wine and while in shop she says, “Oh, give me the key.  You’ll lose it.”  I oblige and give Batista the key.  12 hours or so later….we pull up to the apartment, and guess what, no key.  No way to get in the gate.  So no fear, after 20 minutes I decide I can scale the fence.  Once I get over the metal fence, that was tall, with metal shards poking up, I run to my car and go to open the exit gate.  I get there, and what do you know…a truck pulls up to let Batista in.  Ahhhhhh, such is life.

So we hit the sack and get up for some Saints football(Who Dat) and pottery painting. 

I know we are the cutest pottery painters ever.   I have learned that pottery painting is definitely not my forte.  I mean the colors don’t look at all like they are supposed to.  I can’t push the paint around because it dries so fast.  I mean it was frustrating! I am excited to see my finished products: an ampersand, Hebert the owl, and Herbie the CrawKing.

All in all – Great weekend.  I know you all feel so much more complete in life knowing the play by-play of my exciting Baton Rouge weekend.

It ain’t no secret that I have quite the fancy for the Rx Bandits.  I’ll spare you my praise for them since I use every opportunity I can here to let you know that they just happen to be the greatest band in the world.  But seeing as I never gave a proper review for their latest album, Mandala (A+, 10/10, smiley face), I figured I would share this little video of them performing “Mientras La Veo Soñar” at one of their recent California shows.  This clip is pretty exemplary of the performance I saw when I caught them earlier this summer during their stop in Baltimore, although I wasn’t fortunate enough to see frontman Matt Embree jam out with Chris Tsagakis on the drums as he does here.  Enjoy, and don’t forget to grab the track below.

Cheeseball’s birthday is on November 15th, so as an early b-day present, we now have the awesomeness of an – iPod Touch! The only awkward thing is, though we bought an 8GB one, it says there is only 7GB when we install it with the computer. Oh well.

As the Apple Store states, this is a great iPod, pocket computer, and portable gaming all in one device. All with an amazing touch screen technology.

When doing things like listening to music, you can tilt the screen to change the view from portrait to landscape, and vice versa. There are also lots of other cool features, like the Calendar, Calculator, and Notes. However, a lot of them also require an internet connection (such as YouTube, Safari internet browser, or the iTunes Store), and we don’t have Wi-Fi at our home. :/

Using the internet (on our computer or the Wi-Fi connection at the clubhouse near our home), you can buy app[lications] from the App Store to play with. We mostly get the free ones (we recommend iChess and Fastlane Lite!), but some apps also need the internet. Click here to learn more about this brilliant device.

In the future, we might even review some of the apps we have. For now, of course, we’re off to play with our POTATOTASTIC iTouch!

Unless you have been living under a rock or have no contact to the outside world, I am sure you have heard the one and only Patrick Swayze has indeed galloped on up to heaven to dance and kick some ass. Patrick was the perfect blend of hard ass and ladies man. A blend that may never be seen again. From killing grown men with his bare hands to singing and dancing his ass off, the guy did it all. I mean, he even dressed up in drag with Wesley Snipes! Talk about range! This has been a hard week for all that adored the beloved bouncer of the one and only Double Deuce. I have been struggling to find a decent way to honor this angel of fierceness, so naturally I feel that a Swayzaur tattoo is in order. Not only will you be able to honor the life and times of Mr. Swayze, with this tattoo you will be instantly more macho and sexy at the same time. If a tattoo is out of the question for you, then let me suggest you this mantra…What Would Dalton Do? Yes, that’s right. Live your life as Dalton would. If you have absolutely no clue what I am talking about, rush out and rent Roadhouse, abide by Sir Dalton’s rules, and live your life with honor, fierceness, and above all…Bring the sexy.
