I’m not blogging tonight because I trying to get down a dance to the song Pray by PureNRG. It’s a fun song, but when I choreograph, I tend to do slow, graceful dances. I love doing upbeat dances — I just don’t usually make them up! But I did have a lot of fun learning the main title dance from the first High School Musical as well as the Hoedown Throwdown from the Hannah Montana movie. Though I find those dances fun, it’s a bit harder for me to worship in them. This song, however, is a neat song. I like the lyrics and I like the heart of what I read on PureNRG’s site, so I’m trying to come up with a dance that a few of our kids can do. Without totally ripping off what the group has done!

Nashville, TN – One of Christian music’s top-selling and top touring acts, tween group pureNRG recently returned from a mission trip to Monterey, Mexico with representatives from Word Entertainment, Family Christian Stores, The James Fund and Back2Back Ministries.

Thousands of new shoes are being purchased for orphans and needy children in Mexico and the Dominican Republic because of the great response to pureNRG’s The Real Thing pre-sale through Family Christian Stores earlier this year. The James Fund is coordinating the shoe distribution effort, aided by Payless ShoeSource. While in Mexico, the team ministered to children by washing their feet, putting on socks and then fitting them for a pair of new shoes from Payless.

Steve Biondo, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Family Christian Stores and President of Family Christian Stores’ The James Fund, was part of the team that traveled to Mexico and said, “The work of distributing the shoes was a huge blessing and very emotional for the team. In the area we served, conditions are dramatically desperate, as families live with no running water, no plumbing, and in shelters made of discarded debris. We washed hundreds of precious feet, fitted the children for shoes, placed new socks on their feet, and then put new shoes on their feet. And really, that is what it was all about – showing the kids that they are loved, respected, and valued by Jesus.”

In addition to serving the children of Monterey, pureNRG helped patch roofs and even put on a free concert during their stay. “Our favorite part of the mission trip was washing the kids’ feet and giving them new shoes,” stated pureNRG. “We hated to leave them and can’t wait to go back and see them again soon.

pureNRG, a music group from Word Entertainment was our guest this past month in Monterrey.

They partnered with the James Fund and Payless Shoes in a marketing co-venture that resulted in thousands of donated shoes for orphans around the world.  Hundreds of those were sent to Mexico with b2b and we were able to do a giant footwashing event that placed new shoes on literally hundreds of children in one of our squatters’ villages. The three members of the group served alongside their James fund counterparts and record executives and reached out to two of our childrens homes during work days and then all of the homes one afternoon for a giant concert.  We began the concert with various children’s homes performing for each other and then culminated in a long set of pureNRG songs and their testimonies.  The children loved the concert, singing and dancing and enjoying the time altogether.  What a treat to labor beside our James Fund friends and Word Entertainment who has brought gifted artists like Mark Schultz and pureNRG to speak out with their voices for the children we serve.  It was a fantastic week and we are all new and loyal fans of this great band!

Has anyone heard of the Christian music group pureNRG?

pureNRG’s mission is to entertain, educate and promote Christian values for young people by using wholesome, uplifting lyrics, along with music and dance, in order to provide a positive role model. pureNRG has been a favorite on Radio Disney and has a top selling album out on Fervent Records. They recently toured with MercyMe, BarlowGirl and Skillet.  Their mission is to entertain, educate and promote Christian values for young people by using wholesome, uplifting lyrics, along with music and dance, in order to provide a positive role model.

The members of the band, JORDAN, CAROLYNE, AND CAROLINE, were just here on a mission trip with Back2Back. We had such a blast with them!  They are super fun, energetic, and eager to serve.

One of the nights they were here, they put on a mini concert for ALL the casa hogars (children’s homes) we serve here in Monterrey. Instead of it being just a concert from them, all the homes had something prepared as a little present to them.  The Douglas girls performed a tambourine routine and the rest of the homes sang a couple of songs.

I am pretty sure it was all of the children’s homes first time to see anything remotely like a concert. There were a lot of kids, LOTS OF SMILING FACES, lots of food for dinner, and most of all LOTS OF FUN.

I also had the privilege of debriefing them one night after serving at the children’s homes.  These three teenagers blew my mind. Their focus is completely devoted to God and there was no doubt in my mind that God has specifically chosen them, to share the Gospel in such a unique and fun way, for a reason.

We received some awesome news at work yesterday…one of our groups, pureNRG (you say it “pure energy”) released their new album last Tuesday….and based on the 1st week of sales, they sold the most in the industry, recording the #1 album for the week; and #20 on the overall Billboard charts. They sold more then U2 & Green Day did this week!! That is insane!!

pureNRG is our kids group that targets the “tween” audience – ie: kids through teenagers — and they sing pop music with a positive influence; in the vein of Miley Cyrus & the Jonas Brothers. And not only do I love the 3 kids in the group, my team played a big role in the success of the launch. My job has long lead times for sales cycles; I was a part of some brainstorming meetings in Grand Rapids in December that hatched the big promotion idea that led to the success of the launch — and when I left for maternity leave, I left the execution of the project in the hands of my amazing team — and they fulfilled the promotion with excellence — it was fun to come back and see our TEAM effort pay off. It was extremely gratifying to see the press release today and to celebrate the results with our Word Family and pureNRG. We have such a fast paced job and since the industry as a whole has been on the decline, often times we do not celebrate enough…but this felt good. It made coming back to work a bit easier, since I have been missing Jett a lot each day!!

Anyway, please check out pureNRG, especially if you have kids and you want them to hear positive music and have positive role models. I know all three kids very well – they came to see Jett in the hospital, and hung out with me at my house during maternity leave, and plan to baby sit in the near future – and they mean what they say and are just a joy to hang around. The songs found on The Real Thing for the most part are upbeat featuring very danceable beat. Songs that stood out to me included, “Radio,” that kicks off the release with it’s big beats and talks about using the gifts that God has given to us, not leaving them just set on the shelf. The title track, “The Real Thing,” is another nice song that talks about Jesus being the best friend that you could ever want.

Everything isn’t up-tempo though, you’ll also find a few ballads on the release. “Before the Sun Goes Down,” talks about having the same grace in our lives as Jesus has for us. “Sweet Jesus,” is another ballad with lyrics dealing with Jesus’ grace and love for us.

Out of the 3 sing-along songs, “Footloose,” that was written by Kenny Loggins, and used in the movie of the same name, has a special place in my heart. I can remember when I was a teenager seeing the movie at the local movie theatre and shortly afterwards going to the local record store and buying the movie’s soundtrack on a cassette tape.

pureNRG recently returned from their first international tour in Norway, including performances for the Soul Children’s Festival. They also have a full upcoming schedule for the rest of the year that includes a missions’ trip to Mexico in October.

In a music scene that likes to quickly raise bands to the top only to tear them down just as quickly these three teenagers (Jordan16, Caroline, 14 and Carolyne, 13) have been able to beat that trend and keep going strong with their music.

The Real Thing was once again produced by the winning team of Rob Hawkins (Jackson Waters) and Mark Hammond (Everlife, Cheetah Girls, Ashley Tisdale).

“It’s unbelievable that we’re already releasing our fourth studio album this summer,” says pureNRG. “We had fun recording the new CD and think that our fans will like it. We can’t wait to start performing the new songs for everyone on our upcoming tour dates.”

It was an educational event with 1500 school age children from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland who were taught new music under several different conductors. pureNRG provided entertainment for the festival with three performances at the Konserthuset, which is similar to a performing arts center and once at Jernbanetorget, which is an outdoor mall. While in the country, pureNRG also got to do some sightseeing with a tour of the Royal Palace and a beautiful boat ride in the city of Oslo.

pureNRG To Release New Re-Mixed Versions Of Eight Favorite Songs To The CBA Market, Online And Digital Outlets

Nashville, TN (February 9, 2009) —- One of Christian music’s top-selling and top touring acts, tween group pureNRG, is set to release reNRGized to the CBA Market, online and digital service providers on March 17th. Initially released as an exclusive to Family Christian Stores in December, the album features remixed versions of fan favorites such as “Here We Go Again,” “Pray,” “What If,” and “360.”” (Complete listing is below). The CD was remixed by producer, composer, and songwriter, Tim Holt, who has worked with many Christian artists including, Rebecca St. James, Charlie Peacock, etc.

Andrea and I went down to Brimingham, AL this last weekend to go to the WinterJam Tour.  Dudes and Betties, it was nuts.

We saw Stephanie Smith, who totally dominates the stage and is a super-creative performer for a musician.  We saw FamilyForce 5 scare a bunch of Christians with their stage madness, and then finally, we saw TobyMac put on one of the best shows I have EVER seen.  That guy knows what he is doing, and it was inspiring to see a musician bring more to all of your senses like visuals and dynamic performing to the stage than I can with magic.

WOW we are having babies!!

It is crazy looking at this in hindsight, but I can’t believe that we were in Florida 3 times this year (we are so lucky) and I had 3 California trips (have you noticed we love the sunshine??) and we were fortunate to get to go to great places like Denver, Chicago, and Cabo.

We also had a lot of fun visitors to Nashville as well – Casey & Danny, and Melissa & Stewart continue to be faithful road warriors and come see us every year; My parents who came to take me out to celebrate my promotion (and find out that Future Holt was on his way!!), Tim & Rebecca came to take us to register — thanks to all who came to see us – oh and PS – when the renovation is done we will have a lot more space!!

We are both actually looking forward to the arrival of Future Holt and the slowing down of the travel…but not until April! We are off to NY again tomorrow for my sweet cousin Cara’s wedding!!
