And since I speak German (I didn’t speak English until I was 12, after coming to the U.S.), I can tell you that “Schwarz” means Black !

What are some of your favorite winter blooms?

Ruth 4: 13-17: “So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed is the LORD who has not left you without a redeemer today, and may his name become famous in Israel. “May he also be to you a restorer of life and a sustainer of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.” Then Naomi took the child and laid him in her lap, and became his nurse. The neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi!” So they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.”

I found a wonderful summary of the life of Naomi, from the book of Ruth found here. I’ve copied the summary for you.

“The story contains four different episodes that together form a beautifully constructed novella:

1 Naomi and Ruth go to Bethlehem (Ruth 1) – the anguish of loss
Naomi and her family suffered great misfortune in a foreign land. Ruth, a girl from that foreign land, decided to migrate with Naomi to Bethlehem. They arrived in time for the barley harvest.
2 Ruth meets Boaz (Ruth 2) – the love story
Ruth, a young widow, met Naomi’s relative, a rich man called Boaz. It seems to have been love at first sight for him, and he ordered that Ruth be well treated when she worked in his fields. The older woman Naomi saw immediately what had happened, and encouraged Ruth to continue working in Boaz’s fields.
3 Ruth proposes marriage to Boaz (Ruth 3) – this chapter contains some ribald peasant humor. Ruth approached Boaz during the night, at the threshing floor, and the text obliquely suggests that there may have been some sexual hanky-panky. Subsequently, Ruth suggested that they marry, reminding Boaz of his obligation to her as her nearest male kin. Boaz promised to do all he could.
4 Ruth and Boaz marry (Ruth 4) – the happy ending
Boaz proved as good as his word, and he and Ruth were married. She had a son called Obed, and Naomi cared for the child, who would grow up to be the grandfather of King David.”

Many of you may be familiar with the following Mac commercial:

This advertisement, I believe, is mostly false. Here are some of the programs you can use on a PC without paying any extra money:
Windows Media Player–Play music
Windows Mail–Send/Receive and organize e-mail
Windows Movie Maker– Create home movies
Windows Contacts– Organize Contacts
Calculator– Vista comes with Scientific and Standard, 7 comes with others to expand calculation possibilities
Windows Photo Gallery- import, organize, and edit pictures and videos.
Windows DVD Maker- Create DVDs
Windows Media Center- Allows to view pictures and videos, and listen to music. Also allows you to get live tv on your PC
Windows Meeting Space– Allows you to easily share documents with anyone anywhere.
Notepad and Word Pad– Assuming you only have basic word processing needs, these programs will be quite sufficient for all tasks. Windows 7 will also ship with Microsoft Office Starter which is comparable to Microsoft Works.
Microsoft Paint– Allows for picture editing and virtual “painting”
Many games– (Chess Titans, Freecell, Hearts, Inkball, Mahjong Titans, Minesweeper, Purple Place, Solitaire, and Spider Solitaire)
Internet Explorer– Allows you to surf the web, connect with friends, and expand the possibilities of your computer by downloading third party software (Which is less available for Mac.)

Making a home movie and creating a web site is part of a suite of applications known as iLife. Whether you know it or not, you’re paying for iLife, and if you don’t have it, it will cost a pretty penny (Approximately $200) to get this suite. All of these things can be done, however on Windows 7. Creating a website is actually part of Microsoft Office, however, there are thousands of third party applications available for PC which will allow you to do that absolutely free: something that’s a bit hard to come by on a Mac.

Has anybody (aside from me) ever wondered why so many teas are named after colours? We’ve got Orange Pekoe, Green Tea, Earl Grey … Apparently there is even blue tea and as we all know, when some teas are well-steeped we call it black tea. Rooibos is often called Red Tea, we’ve got White Tea, even the rare Yellow Tea.

So let’s see: we’ve got red, orange, yellow, green, and blue … Even grey and white (and black, sort of). And the Famous Five are famous for their ‘pink teas’ (which I realize were events and not a type of tea). All we’re missing is purple tea!

BUT WAIT!

THERE’S MORE!

YES, THAT’S RIGHT – PURPLE TEA EXISTS. Or so they claim.

Anyway. Has anyone else ever noticed this? Can you think of any other teas named after a colour?

This has been “Talking Tea” with Amy.

When everything goes wrong, the only solution to get noticed in this media madness is to appear naked in a pictorial.

This was also Lindsay Lohan’s philosophy. Apparently tired to be called “suicidal” and “crazy”, the actress will appear in a sexy pictorial for the French edition of “Purple” magazine, hoping thereby to be on everyone’s lips for her beauty, than just for her psychiatric problems.

The “Mean Girls” protagonist will appear topless in a series of pictures made by famous photographer Terry Richardson. Lindsay, who’s bisexual, will simulate an erotic game between her and another couple.

However, this is not the first time that Lilo is in such a depiction; in 2007 she appeared topless for New York Magazine, in a pictorial made as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe.

Is without doubt my purple Liesl cardigan. You can tell by the silly grin on my face!

I’ve been wanting to knit this for ages, so I’m understandably ecstatic that it’s done. The pattern is Liesl by Ysolda Teague, and I used the beautifully bulky, squishy single-ply Freedom Wool by Twilleys of Stamford. It’s a thicker yarn than the pattern calls for—something I didn’t realise until I swatched—but luckily that meant I just had to knit one size down to get the size I wanted. A nice change from having to knit several sizes up for my owls sweater. And I’m in love with the buttons too—purple-dyed shell, which I got at Tangled Yarns when I was in Brisbane in September. They aren’t exactly the same tone, but they match the yarn better than these photos suggest.

The thick woolliness of the yarn I used has made my purple Liesl warmer to wear than I expected, but this means it will just be a Spring-and-Autumn cardigan instead of a Summer-evening cardigan. Given the number of cardigans I’m planning to knit in the next few months, I’m pretty okay with that.

A slight word of warning if you choose to use this yarn: it’s soft, and squishy, and smooth, and almost the opposite of itchy, but being a thick single it’s loosely spun and does develop something of a halo pretty quickly. I’ve heard it’s easy to felt too, but I’m being anally-retentive-careful with this cardigan so that shouldn’t be an issue. I’m hoping it won’t pill too badly, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, cue more silly grins at the lacy prettiness, more sly snuggles of the epic softness, and many, many boasts of the general purple loveliness. And probably a good deal of wearing it, even when the weather’s really a bit too warm.

When you lose interest of all of the options that you have in your wardrobe and wish to add some fas

When you lose interest of all of the options that you have in your wardrobe and wish to add some fascinating yet smart options to it, purple accesories might be good items considering. Even though the 1st thought that can come to your consciousness while reading this is that the author is out of his mind, read on and think again. Many people are
choosing to adopt the unconventional purple accesories because they make a chic and robust fashion statement.

In ages past, the purple accesories were worn to guard against drunkenness. Greek mythology ascribes the purple color of this stone to the tears of Dionysis, the god of wine and festivities. In reality, the present-day Greek word “amethustos” means “sober”. In modern times, the wearing of purple accesories is still advocated for those that are recovering from alcoholism or other substance obsessions.

Wearing purple accesories and its assorted shades and colors,eg lavender, lilac, violet, burgundy, plum, and magenta, can help us detach from the gut-wrenching emotions that can blind us to our real spiritual purposes. purple accesories canlessen feelings of self-pity and transmute the will to escape from everyday Problems into an awakening to the call of the Godself inside.

The trick , however , is in the style you select the other accessories and how you combine your purple accesories
with other colors depending on the shade of purple accesories you make a decision to wear. Other bright colors are a big no-no with purple accesories. Pinks, oranges and red are color which you shouldn’t even give a single glance to while deciding to wear something purple.

If you are in the mood to wear a bright shade of purple accesories, then you should consider dark accessories or a black coat to go along. A black skirt / trouser with light purple accesories top will make you seem like Royalty. Dark purple accesories, on the other hand, should be teamed with light neutral colors like beige, cream
and off-white. If you don’t want to be ousted by your pals and colleagues in a social gathering couple
purple accesories only with blacks, brown, cream, beige, white or on the outside a tan color. At no cost should you include any other colors.

The color purple is lovely and men and women alike should use the color but considered use of the color is essential to get the needs result.

I have been thinking of so many things lately. I have been dumped with so many work load. I do have my academic project due on December 4. I still have a freelance job dated last week of November. Despite of these, I know I can manage to work over it and finish it as soon as possible.
Aside from those works I have right now, I also do think of my life. All of us should have “life” for our own, and I don’t think I have one for now. Wish I could spend time, chill out, hang out. I miss those days were I am a student which after class I have time to party, drink a little, relax, movie trip with friends, hang out somewhere. Why when I almost got out of the academe I had no time for myself now. Anyway highway, another thing I am out of is the thing called love. How I wish to have someone over, do some sweet moves, go out and enjoy each others company. I do actually have a girl which I like, thinking of possible act that I will do maybe nextweek. hhmm.. I don’t want just a simple act of giving stuffs to her and go out of the scene. That’s so lame right? Anyhow, what can I possibly do with her nextweek?

I wish, I wish. I pray, and pray that one day I may hear your voice saying yes to me. Oh how sweet if I got that, but I’ll be working on you first before that may happen. If I had one wish, that would be having you in my life. If I had one wish, that would be living with you in one house, full of dreams and aspirations…

I don’t wanna say the magic word, cause I know you wouldn’t see this post. I just want my actions to interpret what I feel for you. I do purple, I do love you..

The second metallic polish I’ve got for you this week is Joy, from China Glaze’s Spring 2009 Romantique collection. The first thing I noticed about this colour was the fact that it looked like a gorgeous cool weather polish – I really think this would have been better suited to an Autumn collection personally.

The colour of this is somewhere between a mid purple and a plummy kind of shade (hooray for my colour descriptions!), and the finish is a more shimmery metallic than the other day’s Inglot 875, and less reflective. It is a nice colour, but it doesn’t wow me like I expected it to. Maybe I’ll try it again after Summer and see how it fares as an Autumn shade!

Indirect sunlight

As you can probably tell application was much easier with this – less brush strokes, and opaque in ONE very fast drying coat. I’m telling you, if you need to do a mani in a hurry, pick a Romantique as this dried at lightning speed even before I put a coat of Seche Vite on.

As usual, Remodelista showcases a home I would die to have, in House Call: Karin Draaijer in Belgium. Also as usual, it’s difficult to imagine that style translated to our modern ranch in Wisconsin. I think the solution may be to invert the formula interior designers like Draaijer use. Instead of featuring modern furnishings in ornate settings, I’ll need to feature ornate furnishings in our modern setting.

The textures in this room are amazing. I love the idea of using highly-textured textiles in a neutral next to a pale, soft color.

This bathroom is great inspiration for a “someday” remodel in our house. It looks like the tiles were laid without grout lines, so they almost look like monolithic slabs. I’m also way into the cantilevered toilet. For some reason cleaning around the curves at the base of the toilet drives me nuts.

With Christmas around the corner many of us are already getting our gifts list organized. And with the gifts comes the gift wrapping theme, my most favorite part of the gift giving process! There are many options this year and purple has been so far the predominant colour in the runways, paper, fabrics and decor. This is a very elegant wrap suitable for a fabulous present! I used Japanese handmade paper, silver paper, organza, satin and wired ribbons.

In order to achieve this glamorous look I first wrapped the present in silver paper to cover the package. And then wrapped it with Japanese handmade paper. This is a translucent and textured handmade paper that if used alone will lose all fine detail. For the elegant bow and layered ribbon details I used organza, satin and wired ribbon. I will be showing you a few more gift wrap styles in the next few days.

Wouldn’t you love learning how to gift wrap and embellish a package like this? What are you doing on Saturdays, November 28 and December 5?
