KULIM, 21 Dis: Hasrat Pakatan Rakyat (PR) merealisasikan impian untuk menakluki Putrajaya akan menjadi realiti sekiranya kerjasama dan kesatuan yang sedia ada dipertahankan setelah mendapat kepercayaan rakyat.

Menurut bekas Menteri Kesihatan, Datuk Seri Chua Jui Meng, kepercayaan yang telah diberikan oleh rakyat dalam pilihan raya yang lalu harus menjadi platform dan landasan untuk menambat hati rakyat dengan melaksanakan tanggungjawab dan amanah yang diharapkan oleh mereka diperjuangkan oleh PR.

“Saya yakin PR tidak gentar untuk berhadapan dengan mana-mana calon yang diletakkan oleh Barisan Nasonal (BN) dalam mana-mana pilihan raya yang diadakan kerana rakyat sendiri sedar dan inginkan pembaharuan dilakukan dalam negara.

“Saya tidak lupa semasa saya berada dalam MCA, PR berhadapan dengan kritikan hebat daripada BN kerana ketiga-tiga parti dalam PR tidak bersatu dan membawa hala tuju masing-masing.

“Namun begitu setelah mereka disatukan dalam satu Pakatan maka pengaruh yang ada pada mereka semakin kuat. Rakyat semakin optimis untuk memberi sokongan kepada PR untuk membawa perubahan dalam sistem pemerintahan negara,” katanya.

Menurut beliau lagi usaha harus ditingkatkan oleh PR untuk menjadikan impian menawan Putrajaya menjadi kenyataan.

“Saya ingin menegaskan disini sekiranya BN dan kerajaan yakin bahawa dengan dakwaan serta cubaan mereka untuk menangkap Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim akan mematahkan semangat yang ada dalam pimpinan dan penyokong PR dan akan melumpuhkan sama sekali PR, ini adalah satu prasangka yang silap. PR tidak akan berpecah.

“Kita juga akan mempertahankan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim serta mempertahankan dakwaan tentang isu rasuah keatas Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat yang sengaja digembar-gemburkan oleh BN bagi mencapai hasrat mereka untuk memesongkan pemikiran rakyat yang sedia menyokong PR,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian semasa berucap dalam majlis Jamuan Makan Malam sempena 10 tahun Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) anjuran PKR Padang Serai di Kulim, Kedah.

Turut hadir dalam majlis tersebut ialah AJK PAS Pusat, Mohamad Sabu dan Ahli Parlimen Padang Serai, N.Gobalakrishnan serta kepimpinan PR Negeri Kedah.

The Palace of Justice in Putrajaya houses the Malaysian Court of Appeal and Federal Court, which used to be situated at the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur in the early 2000s.

The complex has a 71,913 square meters floor area, and consists of five storeys of administration building and two storeys of annexed building. Such offices included are for: lawyers, prosecutors, the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court, the Registrar of Federal Court, the Registrar of High Court, Registrar, court records, courtrooms, Appeals court, Judges’ Chambers, auditorium, ante room and banquet hall.

The Palace of Justice is influenced by the Islamic culture that built the walls of the Taj Mahal in India, the Moorish culture like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur, and the Western culture of the Palladian.

Larian Malam Putrajaya 2010 akan dianjurkan pada 6 Feb 2009 anjuran Perbadanan Putrajaya dengan kerjasama Persatuan Olahraga Amatur Wilayah Persekutuan dan Kesatuan Olahraga Amatur Malaysia.

Sebanyak 4 kategori akan dipertandingkan dalam acara larian itu, kategori maraton penuh dengan jarak 42 km, separa maraton dengan jarak 21 km, larian ria (fun run) jarak 7.7 km dan 5 km. Pertandingan itu diadakan sempena sambutan Hari Wilayah Persekutuan pada 1 Februari depan.

As the venue for major events, the Dataran is one of the most attractive landmarks in Putrajaya. Its design incorporates local motifs and cultural values. The circular shape of the Dataran does not only determine the termination of the Boulevard but also acts as a hinge linking the Boulevard axis towards the Mercu Tanda.

2. Akan ku tubuh suruhanjaya mengkaji perlaksaan hukum hudud di Malaysia. Sangat relevan digunakan sekarang kerana kes-kes seperti ragut, rompak, rogol makin menjadi² sekarang.
3. Akan kuberi Kelantan royalti minyak. Itu hak mereka. Lagipun Kelantan ramai orang Islam. Apa salahnya. Begitu juga Terengganu, lebuhraya diwujudkan, ekonomi dipertingkatkan.

6. Akan kujadi Imam bila berada di Masjid. Nama pun pemimpin. Akhirat dan duniawi mesti seiring.
7. Akan ku arah menteri kewangan mengubah dasar perbelanjaan agensi kerajaan. Kalau duit tak habis di hujung tahun, sesebuah jabatan boleh bawa baki ke tahun hadapan dan bukannya buat aktiviti merapu di hujung tahun. Agensi/Jabatan paling berjimat tanpa menjejaskan produktiviti akan diberi anugerah khas Perdana Menteri.
8. Akan ku arahkan menteri pendidikan mengkaji konsep paperless. Kurangkan penggunaan kertas di sekolah² dan institusi pendidikan. Cetakan yang kebanyakan tidak perlu hanya membazir duit rakyat yang membayar cukai.
9. Akan ku arahkan Kementerian Teknologi dan Inovasi mengcungkil bakat² pencipta walaupun pencipta itu berada di hujung kampung. Contohi UK yang ramai lahirkan jutawan pencipta.
10. Akan ku arahkan spy² untuk pantau ahli² UMNO yang makan duit haram. Bahagi² projek sesama sendiri. Tidak akan ada lagi istilah, “Asal jadi pemimpin UMNO, kaya rayalah jawabnya”. Akan ku contohi pemimpin² PAS yang kebanyakannya tidak pentingkan dunia. Setakat mana sangat kemewahan tu, bukan boleh bawak mati pun.
11. Akan kuubah kursus BTN kepada Kursus Pengtarbiyahan Rakyat (KPR), modul²nya menekankan kepentingan agama dalam mengawal moral rakyat. Bukannya aktiviti² merapu macam kanak². We are adult, so act as adult.
12. Akan kuarahkan SKMM sekat website² lucah daripada diakses rakyat Malaysia. CD lucah pun berlambak di pasaran. Mana tak bergelodak nafsu lelaki kat Malaysia. Last², kes rogol pun meningkat.
13. Akan kujemput ulama² besar seluruh negara berkumpul untuk satukan umat Islam. Bukannya mengkondem satu sama lain. Hapuskan budaya ko semua salah, aku sahaja betul. Dalam Islam, ada adab tertentu untuk selesai pertelingkahan pendapat.
14. Akan kuarahkan Menteri Pelajaran untuk wajibkan pelajar-pelajar khatam Al-Quran di sekolah. Tulisan jawi dipopularkan kembali. Silibus² Pendidikan Islam ditambahbaik dengan menekankan adab² yang ada dalam Islam.
15. Akan ku selalu berjumpa Tok Guru Nik Aziz untuk belajar dan cari penyelesaian kepada masalah umat Islam di Malaysia pada masa kini.

**Walaupun kurang elok menggunakan perkataan ‘kalau’, tapi aku gunakan juga sebagai cara untuk aku meluahkan pendapat.

It is a new concept of the cable stayed arch bridge. The bridge is controlled by the principal design parameters to reflect a transparent elegant and futuristic slender looking structure, with an overall single span of 300m and total width of 32m. There are dual three lane carriageways. The deck level varies from RL 35.25m at abutment to RL 35m at centre of the bridge.

Getting there:

Botanical Garden is located on the Northern section of Precinct 1. It has been designed as an Acadia or a national sanctuary for the Malaysian living collection of plant taxonomy as well as a centre for education and research.

Botanical Garden Putrajaya captures in full colour the diversity of tropical flowering species. The collection of plant life assembled here consists not only of plants that are indigenous to Malaysia but includes many species, which are introduced from other tropical countries, stretching across Africa, Tropical America and Asia Pacific.

Getting there:

By Bus

From Sinar Kota in Kuala Lumpur, you can catch the Park May (Cityliner) bus number 868 to Putrajaya. This bus service operates from 6.30am until 10pm and the fare is about RM2.60. From the temporary bus and taxi terminal at Precinct 9, you can catch a Nadi Putra bus to the Botanical Garden (Taman Botani).

By Rail

You can get to Putrajaya via the KLIA transit train which departs from Kuala Lumpur’s Sentral Station. The train runs every 30 minutes from 5.30am to 1am the next morning, and stops at the Western Transportation Terminal in Precinct 7. From there, you can catch a Nadi Putra bus service to the Botanical Garden (Taman Botani).

Straddling Precincts 14 and 15 on the Eastern section of Putrajaya, Taman Rimba Alam is bordered by the Diplomatic Enclave and the residential developments of Precincts 14 and 15.

Taman Rimba Alam was designed to become a showcase of urban forestry which combines a metropolitan recreational park with a sustainable tropical forest ecosystem. Upon completion, the park will be equipped with various facilities, including a camping ground, forest trails or footpaths, viewing platforms and a forest education centre. It is also planned to house the Putrajaya Mounted Police Stables.

At the very heart of Putrajaya is the Putrajaya Wetlands with a natural landscape dominated by the Putrajaya Lake. The Lake and Wetlands are two of the most distinctive features of the city. The 650-hectare Putrajaya Lake is designed to act as a natural cooling system for the city and for recreation, fishing, water sports and water transport.

For the water in the lake to be clean enough for body contact, water sports and recreational activities, a wetland was constructed to remove pollutants and to clean the water before it merges with the lake.

We have had a great time during this week in Malaysia and have seen so much more than I thought we would in such a short time. Tomorrow morning we are off to India.

Summarizing the week isn’t easy, but the easiest thing to say is that I am glad we are coming back. Kuldip’s cousin Surjit Singh has been a great tour guide in Kuala Lumpur. We have spent a lot of time with Kuldip’s family and saw a lot of the sights. But I want more time.

As far as must-sees, as an architecture buff, Petronas Towers is the obvious one. Still, the pictures of Petronas Towers we see in the west don’t do the project justice. It is a spectacular pair of towers, but it also incorporates acres of public space that are both gorgeous and–here’s the real success in my view–very utilized.

The towers sit atop KLCC, a huge high-end vertical mall that is filled with the shops all high end malls have. One side faces a beautiful park with a lake, jogging trails, etc., that is packed during the day and at night. On the plaza next to KLCC is the convention center, so there are plenty of international tourists hanging around, but there seem to be locals as well. On the other side is another plaza with fountains that is filled with people at night. A lot of the people on the plaza are taking pictures of the towers, but a lot seemed to be locals out for a walk after dinner letting their kids play in the fountains.

The Sears Tower in Chicago can’t say the same. I worked across the street from the Sears Tower for years and it just didn’t seem as integrated into the fabric of the city.

The other surpise for me was Putrajaya. Back in the mid-1990s I was assigned to cover the buildup the Malaysian government had planned, including the new airport, Cyberjaya and Putrajaya, but I never came and the story fizzled because the Asian Tiger economy crashed. After the crash, my American editors were no longer interested in Malaysia. I have to admit that other than Petronas Towers, I wasn’t interested either. That said, it is really interesting to see that, even though there was a delay, Malaysia moved ahead with its plan. Putrajaya is showcase worth any architecture buff’s time.

Putra Mosque steals the limelight as one of the must sees when in Putrajaya.

Three quarter of the beautiful dusky pink mosque floats on Putrajaya Lake, at a choice location that can be easily accessed by congregants and other visitors. The architecture of the mosque is commendable. It reflects the evolution of mosque designs in Malaysia, with its Islamic-inspired architecture taking into account traditional design elements and craftsmanship, local materials and weather conditions.

The mosque is modelled after Persian Islamic architecture of the Safavid period with several elements derived from other Muslim cultures. The main entrance to the mosque is patterned after gates to public buildings in Muslim Persia. The building was constructed mainly with rose-tinted granite, which is offset by brown-stained cengal woodwork to enhance the decorative features on the doors, windows and panels.

In addition, the mosque boasts three main functional areas such as the Prayer Hall, the Sahn or courtyard, with the minaret and learning facilities and function rooms.
