]]> <![CDATA[Puyallup Spring Fair is Here - Kids' Admission Free Today! ]]> http://seattle.cbslocal.com/?p=15706 Thu, 14 Apr 2011 20:29:41 +0000 tamacbsseattle http://seattle.cbslocal.com/?p=15706 There are rides, games, and of course, lots of animals, but there are some new events at this year’s Puyallup Spring Fair.  There’s a lumberjack show — with everything from axe throwing to log rolling!  Food Network star and Sumner native Sandra Lee will do a cooking demonstration,  and the Northwest Junior Rodeo will have over 200 competitions.  The first-ever Spring Fair Monster Truck show is Friday, April 15. And there won’t be just one, but two Slamfest Demolition Derbys on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17.  You can buy your tickets online for the Monster Trucks or Demolitions at http://www.thefair.com.

TODAY, Kids from 0-18 get in FREE until 10pm, with a recommended donation of a non-perishable food item for the Puyallup Food Bank. PLUS get 7 rides or games for $16 without a coupon.  Some rides, like the Extreme Scream, need their own tickets.

Friday, April 15, KMPS and KZOK are sponsoring Military Appreciation Day. Gate admission is FREE to all active, retired and reserve military and their dependents, plus disabled veterans with a valid military ID at any Fair gate. There’s a free KMPS Concert on Friday night featuring Randy Montana and Bradley Gaskin.

And through Sunday you can go to any participating Fred Meyer or Safeway to purchase discount tickets for admission to the Fair. Kids under age 5 are always free, and parking is free during the Spring Fair.

There are interactive, educational centers like Creative Kids and Super Science Company for hands-on fun in the Kid Zone.  There’s a Garden Show with workshops and design areas to help you with your Spring gardening needs.  In the Expo Hall are classic Fords, Chevys, muscle cars and motorcycles, part of the LeMay Family Collection.

4-H will be in the barns with roosters and chickens, goats and livestock.  There’s a petting zoo, and miniature horses.

Food?  You bet.  The Fair Scones are back, and the onion burgers, cotton candy, and caramel apples.  It’s the whole Fair experience, in one fun-filled weekend.

Showtime is 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 18.  It’s open to the public (with paid admission to the Fair).   My proram leads up to the he Science Fair awards ceremony whic begins at 6:00 pm.
