Jubbaland, a new federal Somali State, is born against the will of the federalism-phobic sectarian government in Mogadishu. The new State comprises of three of the former eighteen regions of Somalia existing regions before the country slipped into chaos. Jubbaland brings together Upper Jubba, Lower Jubba and Gedo regions.

The Somali people are mourning the death of a statesman, Col. Abdullahi Ahmed Yusuf, the first president of the Puntland State of Somalia and ex-president of the Transitional Federal government. History has put a mournful seal on the great achievements of this national hero who devoted his time and effort to the salvation of Somalia, braving many dangers, taking rough paths if the situation demanded to realize his vision and goals on putting Somalia’s rough political ride back on track. He has not been deterred by the long prison terms in many different places and circumstances, assassination attempts and political sabotaging of his struggle.

The noose is tightening on the Somali jungle lawmakers. The boisterous pseudo assembly, Somalis were tricked to call them ‘a parliament’, is now unraveling and working into its own demise. Their own trap is catching on them. It was not an elected parliament in the first place. It was the product of many foreign-sponsored so-called reconciliation meetings, consisting mainly of warlords imposed on the dilapidated Somali society.
