Acer are obviously prepping a new gaming laptop. The new monster will come with an 1.6 GHz Intel i7 quad-core processor, 8GB DDR3 RAM and AMD HD5850 video with 1GB GDDR5 – all that promises full DirectX 11 support.

The amazing specs list continues with an 18.4-inch LED 1080p Full HD display, two 640GB SATA HDDs and a BluRay drive.

There is no info about the pricing just yet, but Aspire 8942G-728G1280TWN (thank goodness for copy/paste) will be surely priced at least twice as cheap as a similar spec’d Alienware mobile rig. Still that insane hardware, along with an 8-cell Li-Ion battery will weight about 4.6 kg, so as it seems mobility and gaming are hardly a good match.

I love technology and I am somewhat of a geek, nerd, dork, whatever lol. I love to build computers and help people build their dream computers if I can. I have one now, only 2 years old and I still add to it some, but lately, instead of building my own, I have been looking into having one made. At first I thought of letting a friend or someone build me on, but I want a warranty, professional quality, wired for maximum air flow and ”neatness”,(yes I use the word neat :-p).

So, after looking into a few companies such as ibuypower, cyberpower, alienware, etc. I played it smart and read reviews on the companies. And I’m glad I didn’t just go out and buy the first thing I saw and liked. Saved me a lot of grief.

I was going to go with Main Gear’s Pulse, but as I was about to purchase it, they removed it from the website. So I consider it to be their loss, and not mine. Then i found Stealth Machines, Falcon and a few other top named companies. After looking at them all. I think I have finally decided and going to end up going with the Falcon Mach-V or the Talon. Still not sure which yet. But I also plan to get an Apple iMac(27″ & quad-core). I have an older 24″ now, and 3 custom PC’s, and a Dell. Yes I told you, im a geek lol. And at work i use a 27″ iMac quad-core, and its so awesome.

So, what do you think I should get first? The iMac, or the Falcon PC(or another pc from different company)? I had thought about going with the HP touch screen computer just because, its well…cool LOL. But after hearing and reading so many bad things about it, I dont want it anymore. Yes, I could just settle for a premade, and yes they are customizable from the factory, but in a sense, it’s not really CUSTOM cause it’s still a brand name, made with mostly that companies parts. I want something nice, looks sexy(yes I called a computer sexy…bite me), that has what I want, need, and does what I ask it to with no bullshit and no added on crap that I dont need, will never use and can’t delete.

Another item that Im for sure on that I want, well items lol, are:

• Logitech MX Air Mouse
• Logitech diNovo Edge 2

And if you can’t tell, yes I like Logitech, I even have their 5.1 speaker system which is fucking awesome!. Logitech, is creative and always comes out with really  nice things that work like they should and look great too! Just how it should be. You shouldn’t have to settle for something thats ugly but works, or looks good and doesnt work. You should be able to get both!

Well enough of the techie stuff. Moving on!

First I bought an iPod then a 3Gs iPhone and finally could not resist in taking another bite from the Apple. This time the new and impressive iMac 27-inch: 2.66MHz – i5 Quad-Core iMac and an Apple 15-inch: 2.8GHz MacBook Pro. The advantages the iMac will provide utilising its powerful i5 quad-core intel processor in terms of the speed at which I can process a backlog of RAW images and capitalising on all those digital asserts is going to be well worth this significant capital investment. A new e-commerce website will be published mid-2010 and will incorporate several HD video clips which will be edited using Apple’s “Final Cut Pro” application.

Je pourrais consulter les petites annonces classées pour un usager mais je préfère acheter du neuf.

Pas facile de se retrouver dans ma l’océan d’ordinateurs qu’on m’offre.

Je sais que j’ai besoin de 4 gigs de mémoire, de Windows 7 version 64 bits et Home Edition.

Mais pour le processeur.  Ouf!  Le choix est grand et on y paire sa tête tellement que c’est complexe.

Juste pour Intel il  y a les Core 2 Duo. Quad Core 2.  Quad Core Duo.  Double Core 2.  Dual Core, Dual Centrio…

Pour AMD c’est encore pire quand on lit qu’il y a un ordinateur avec un Triple Core.

Bagi yang belum mengetahui tentang Kelebihan Quad-Core Processor dan apakah Quad-Core Processor itu mungkin artikel ini bisa membantu menjabarkannya walau tidak terlalu detail. Selamat membaca dan bila banyak kekurangannya jangan marah ya

Perkembangan processor demikian pesat. Two-in-one core dengan dual-core pada processor bukan lagi yang terdepan. Intel telah memperkenalkan jajaran processor quad-corenya. Pembahasan kali ini akan lebih fokus untuk empat core processor di dalam satu packaging.

Kehadiran quad-core processor untuk PC adalah salah satu topik hangat yang masih dibicarakan sekarang. Beberapa keterangan tambahan juga ditambahkan untuk ulasan kali ini. AMD juga tentunya tidak tinggal diam melihat teknologi yang ditawarkan oleh Intel.
Namun pendekatan quad-core pada AMD, setidaknya untuk sekarang ini, terlalu berbeda.
Dengan menggunakan dual processor dualcore pada satu motherboard. Beberapa kendala akan dihadapi jika mengandalkan pendekatan AMD. Penggunaan dual processor akan membatasi pilihan penggunaan motherboard yang dapat digunakan, juga modul memory. Dan pada akhirnya, juga akan membatasi calon penggunanya. Untuk itu, pada pembahasan quad-core kali ini, kami masih membatasi pada penerapan quad-core yang digunakan oleh Intel.

Sesuai dengan roadmap dari Intel, kehadiran Quad-Core processor telah hadir di penghujung tahun 2006 yang lalu. Dilanjutkan dengan multi-core (lebih dari empat) processor selanjutnya di masa yang akan datang. Tidak lagi untuk segementasi extreme, multi-core juga akan merambah ke segmentasi performance hingga mainstream di tahun yang akan datang Sebagai produk awalnya adalah Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 dan Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor, yang diluncurkan pada awal November lalu. Berita mengenai peluncuran processor Quad-Core ini, sebetulnya sama sekali bukan sebuah kejutan yang baru bagi computer enthusiast. Pada IDF (Intel Developer Forum) terakhir pun, keberadaan
processor ini sudah diperkenalkan. Namun, peluncuran resmi memang baru dilakukan pada November.

Untuk processor desktop PC, ini memang merupakan hal yang baru. Hanya dalam kurun waktu sekitar satu setengah tahun, semenjak Intel dari dual-core menjadi quadcore processor. Ini bisa dijadikan salah satu petunjuk bahwa Intel mulai menganggap serius proses paralel Perlu diakui, fokus tren processor memang “terpaksa” beralih ke paralel. Tidak hanya Intel, pesaingnya pun melakukan pendekatan yang serupa. Di saat peningkatan kinerja sudah semakin sulit lagi untuk didapatkan dari peningkatan frekuensi kerja (clock processor).

Di mana untuk melakukan hal tersebut sudah pasti dibutuhkan peningkatan kebutuhan catuan daya untuk CPU. Dan hal tersebut secara tidak langsung akan meningkatkan suhu kerja saat beroperasi. Hal tersebut sudah kurang memuaskan lagi untuk tren dan kebutuhan komputer terkini. Semenjak processor dual-core diperkenalkan, memang sebuah awal tren pengembangan processor baru.

Alih-alih mengingkatkan clock processor, paralel core processor dalam satu kemasan fi sik processor menjadi pilihannya. Meskipun semenjak dual-core diperkenalkan untuk processor desktop sampai sekarang, belum semua aplikasi dapat memaksimalkan kemampuan processor dual-core. Dengan split thread ke masing-masing core, di mana pada kemampuan process multithread inilah, processor dual-core lebih menunjukan kemampuan maksimal dibandingkan singlecore. Namun setidaknya, dengan peluncuran processor quad-core untuk desktop PC ini, lebih mene gaskan bahwa sudah saatnya tren paralel dengan multithread yang dikerjakan pada multi-core processor.

Intel memperkenalkan jajaran processor dengandual-core dalam selang waktu singkat. Namun kemudian Intel sudah meluncurkan quad-core, masih dengan core microarchitecture yang kurang lebih sama dengan yang terdahulu nm. CPU dengan code named Penryn ini belum diketahui banyak informasinya.

Ini mungkin akan menimbulkan pertanyaan, mengapa quad-core processor ditawarkan dengan harga yang bersaing dibandingkan processor dual-core. Pada penjelasan sebelum nya, dapat dimengerti mengapa teknologi quad-core tidak memberikan lompatan harga yang demikian besar. Keputusan Intel membuat quad-core dari menggabungkan dua dual-core dalam satu packaging (kemasan) processor LGA775 memungkinkan hal ini.
Dan konsumen diharapkan akan memiliki pilihan sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Karena bagaimanapun ini sama dengan keadaan terdahulu.

Baik quad-core maupun dual-core yang ditawarkan memiliki keunggulannya tersendiri. Dual-core Extreme X6800 bekerja pada clock 2,93 GHz, sedangkan Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 bekerja pada clock yang lebih rendah 2,66 GHz. Processor Intel dengan clock yang lebih tinggi masih akan tetap memberikan kinerja yang lebih baik pada aplikasi single-threaded, yang masih banyak digunakan pada aplikasi PC desktop. Sedangkan, processor quad-core memiliki keunggulan pada saatdigunakan dalam aplikasi multi-thread. Meskipun belum semua aplikasi dapat mengoptimalkan multi-thread tersebut.

Namun seiring dengan perkembangan tren, terlihat dari perkembangan processor terbaru, tentunya multi-thread lebih menjanjikan di kemudian hari. Sejarah terulang kembali, adalah sebuah kiasan yang tepat untuk hal ini. Hal ini tidak banyak berbeda dengan yang terjadi pada masa terdahulu. Saat pengguna diberikan pilihan antara single-core processor yang dapat bekerja pada clock yang lebih tinggi, dengan processor quad-core dengan clock yang lebih rendah.

Rumor has it that Apple’s next-generation Mac Pro will feature Intel’s elite desktop chip codenamed Gulftown, according to a blog.

Recently demonstrated by Intel, Gulftown is a six-core, dual-socket processor with 12 threads. (In normal human speak, it’s essentially a processor with six brains, capable of efficiently distributing power to execute 12 concurrent tasks.) Apple blog Hardmac claims receiving a tip that the Gulftown-equipped Mac Pro could arrive early 2010.

A highly threadable processor such as Gulftown would be most useful for prosumer applications, such as video editing and encoding. Apple’s latest operating system Snow Leopard was specially designed for efficient multithread processing.

Therefore, for regular consumers who don’t use their Macs for very processor-heavy tasks, this rumor about Gulftown won’t sound all that exciting. But inevitable price cuts for current Mac Pros, which carry quad-core processors, might be something to look forward to.

Windows 7 utilizza un solo core del processore per eseguire le istruzioni necessarie al suo caricamento ed è quindi utile se il nostro hardware è un dual o un quad core modificare le impostazioni di sistema per sfruttare tutti i core, velocizzando così il funzionamento del sistema operativo.

Naturalmente non riusciamo a capire come mai il nuovo giocattolo della Microsoft non lo faccia autonomamente, riconoscendo in fase di installazione la tipologia di  processore che monta il pc. Forse per non smentirsi!

Comunque  porre rimedio è piuttosto facile: da “Start/Tutti i programmi/Accessori/Esegui” digitate msconfig e, nella schermata che appare, portatevi nella scheda “Opzioni di avvio“.

A questo punto, occorre clikkare su “Opzioni avanzate“, spuntare la casella “Numero di processori” e, nel menù a tendina, selezionare il numero di processori da utilizzare per aumentare la velocità del vostro Windows 7.

When you’re booting to a “live desktop” running straight off the Ubuntu “Live CD” and utilising only your RAM, you sort of expect it to take a bit longer than an installed system starting up. But last night when running it on my brother’s P4 with 2Gb of RAM, it loaded quicker than my install of Windows XP on my Quad-Core with 4Gb of RAM!

OK, I’m well and truly used to my Ubuntu system booting much faster than my little-used Windows system, but the Live CD – on a P4 no less – beating it surprised me (though just a little).

Forse non lo sai, ma i processori moderni devono le loro eccellenti prestazioni a un’architettura di tipo “multi core”. Semplificando, è come se più processori si uniscano a darne uno solo. Per questo motivo, un processore quad-core si chiama così perché al suo interno batte la potenza di ben quattro “core”. Ora, se ti stupisci di quanto sia potente un quad-core, immagina cosa ti devi aspettare da un modello che di core ne addirittura 100. Se lo stanno chiedendo, credo, anche ad AMD e Intel.

Si tratta dei due principali produttori di processori al mondo, che apprendono in queste ore, assieme a noi, che Tilera, una start-up del ramo tecnologico, ha sviluppato un processore di questo tipo: il GX100.

Update der iMac Reihe:

Die iMac Reihe besteht jetzt aus einem 21,5″ und einem 27″ Modell mit 16:9 Bildverhältnis und LED Hintergrundbeleuchtung.

Als Prozessor ist ein 3,06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo sowohl im 21 als auch im 27″ Modell verbaut. Ab November wird der 27″ iMac aber optional auch mit einem Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Prozessor mit 2,66 Ghz verfügbar sein.

Als Arbeitsspeicher dienen standardmässig 4GB. Der billigste 21″ iMac ist mit einer 500GB Festplatte bestückt – die anderen iMacs mit 1TB.

Als Grafikkarten kommen eine NVIDIA GeForce 9400M im preiswertesten iMac, ATI Radeon HD 4670 (256 MB) in den teureren und eine ATI Radeon 4850 (512 MB) im teuersten iMac zum Einsatz.

Die Preise liegen bei:

1.099,00 €, 1.349,00 €, 1,499,00€ und 1.799,00 €.

Und hier geht´s zu den neuen iMacs.

Außerdem sind dem iMac eine neue “Touch” Maus namens “Magic Mouse” (auch seperat um 69,00 € erhältlich) und ein Keyboard beigelegt.

Well, the Apple Store went down, and we waited with bated breath. And most of what people expected to see came true. One of those expectations was new iMacs, and Apple’s (s aapl) all-in-one desktops did indeed get a nice upgrade and redesign. That means you’re old hat, iMac which I’m typing this up on right now.

The new iMacs feature LED-backlit 21.5 and 27-inch widescreen displays, with a new edge-to-edge glass and seamless aluminum case design. It’s quite the sexy little get up, and it’s sure to turn a few heads. Also sure to turn heads is the introduction of quad-core processors to the iMac line, though the entry level model still sports an Intel Core 2 Duo processor by default.

In the official Apple press release detailing the new hardware, Phil Schiller focused on the LED-backlighting and the inclusion of the new Magic Mouse when talking up the new all-in-ones:

The iMac is widely praised as the best desktop computer in the world and today we are making it even better. With brilliant LED displays and the revolutionary Magic Mouse, the new iMac delivers an amazing desktop experience that we think customers will love.

The new displays feature 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for the 21.5-inch, and 2560 x 1440 for the 27-inch, which mathematically inclined readers will note makes the aspect ratio for the screens 16:9. That’s good news for HD movie and TV show watchers, but the changed ratio might not excite web and print professionals quite as much. Still, as Apple points out, the display on the new 27-inch screen does provide 60 percent more working area, which is never a bad thing.

Graphics computing power also gets a boost in the new line. The NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated card is still around, but the ATI Radeon HD 4670 discrete card is an option on the 21.5- and 27-inch model, while the ATI Radeon HD 4850 is reserved as an option exclusively available for the bigger computer. The new iMacs now have 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM standard, and the potential to increase that to up to 16GB.

As for storage space, you’ll get 500GB in the base 21.5-inch model, or 1TB in the mid-range 21.5-inch or top-of-the-line 27-inch versions. All drives operate at 7200 rpm. Of the four available models, only the most expensive 27-inch 2.66 GHz version offers a Core i5 chip, with an option to upgrade to the Core i7. All three of the other models offer the Intel Core 2 Duo processor operating at 3.06GHz. Four USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire 800, and a brand new SD card slot are also standard on all models.

New iMac owners get a nice bonus when it comes to input devices, as wireless keyboards and the new Magic Mouse, which only comes in a wireless (Bluetooth) variety, are now standard with every machine. Apple is clearly doing its best to de-clutter your workspace, or at least to add to the perceived value of its machines, since the price points of the new models have not changed as some had suspected. The base models are priced at $1,199, $1,499, $1,699 and $1,999 respectively.

So long as you aren’t in the market for the $2,000 quad-core beast, you can order now from the Apple Store and your computer should ship in 1-3 business days. The Core i5 model isn’t shipping until “November,” according to Apple’s website, which is maddeningly vague. Attempting to upgrade to the Core i7 does nothing to remedy the situation, which doesn’t come as a surprise.

Finally, I spotted a new Apple Remote as an add-on option on the ordering screen. Not an iMac exclusive, but the little guy does get an aluminum makeover, with black buttons, and looks much fancier. Is it worth an additional $19 now? Not sure, but at least it matches the machine it works with.

First Off, I have to say, my browser skin is epic.

Second off, the article shown in the screenshot is perfectly right, except for the part about multitasking. I multitask extensively. I’ve always got multiple tabs open in firefox, and many many windows else open. I’ve got music playing, a game playing, firefox open with 7 tabs, chrome open with 3 tabs, 3 msn windows, notepad, photo viewer, and two explorer windows open now.

I need to get a quad core processor… >_> My pentium 4 works, but just isn’t good enough for me to multitask the way I want to. I need at least twice as many windows open as I’ve got to feel satisfied.

É um robô! Ok, não é surpresa nenhuma vindo deste blog, mas eu tinha que enrolar um pouco aqui pra dar um volume no texto.

Bom, vamos ao que interessa. O robô que vai tomar o seu lugar (sim, o seu mesmo) na hora de se divertir um pouco, no vídeo está jogando Frets on Fire em uma ação da Intel e da National Instruments. O sistema de aquisição de visão (o qual lê as notas fora da tela) e o controle robótico trabalham juntos em apenas um processador quad core, mostrando que é possível atribuir funções específicas a um núcleo específico.

Na verdade ele erra um pouco, mas pela forma que foi projetado é mais do que aceitável.
