Macro (not really) with a wide angle lens

Just some quick test photos, trying out the macro capabilities of the Canon 17-40mm L USM Lens. Macro is not what this lens what designed for as it does not magnify the subject, however it does an ok job with it’s ability to focus at very short distances. Here’s some examples,
