If you’re reading this third party review, chances are you’re looking for information on

If you’re reading this third party review, chances are you’re looking for information on Amway (Quixtar). Amway is probably the most well known network marketing company around. While it sometimes gets a bad rap from the public, and even other network marketers, the truth is if it wasn’t for companies like Amway pioneering and blazing the trail, the industry may not be so huge today. With that said, if you’re looking to join Amway, there are still some things you need to be aware of so you can make an educated decision about becoming a distributor. In this simple review, I’ll cover details about the company and what you really need to do to give yourself the best chances of succeeding should you join the company… and it’s probably not what your upline is telling you.

Amway Corporation was started in 1959 by Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, and is based in Ada, Michigan. They were one of the first people who innovated a unique sales and marketing concept that allowed average people to go into business for themselves. Long story short, the concept took off and the company exploded. Today, the company has over 3 million distributors, operates in over 80 countries and does around $9 billion in annual worldwide sales.

In 1999, the company launched Quixtar, which is now the exclusive North American affiliate. Quixtar was geared to combine the power of the Amway opportunity with the power of the internet and online shopping. For the past four years, Quixtar has been the #1 online retailer of Health and Beauty products based on sales according to Internet Retailer magazine.

The company sells various products in it’s portfolio, ranging from beauty products, household products, health and nutrition products and water purifiers. Most of the products are manufactured by one of Quixtar’s sister companies, Access Business Group, which holds 500 patents related to Quixtar products.

When it comes to the Amway (Quixtar) business opportunity, you can join by paying an intital start-up cost, and then maintain a monthly autoship order of products. As a distributor, you are rewarded for selling products and sponsoring others who do the same. Besides making retail profits from selling products, you can earn various bonuses ranging from 3%-25% based on your group’s monthly volume. There are also other bonuses you can qualify for once you hit the higher positions. Quixtar has paid over $2 billion in commissions so there’s no doubt that there is potential in the company’s business opportunity. In addition, there is a tremendous amount of support the company has in place for it’s distributors.

In closing, it’s not hard to see that Amway Global (Quixtar) is extremely credible. The company has an experienced management team, high quality products and a solid compensation plan. However, this alone will not make you successful. Pitching your friends and family, which is the #1 strategy taught at the company, will only take you so far. And prospecting complete strangers will give you extremely minimal results. This is why it’s extremely important to your success that you learn proper marketing techniques that will enable you to generate a steady flow of qualified leads online. Without qualified leads for your business, you have little to no chance of succeeding. With that said, if you use an attraction marketing system that can help you generate more leads than you could actually get to, there’s no telling how successful you can be with your Amway (Quixtar) business.

Jaime Soriano wrote this Amway Review for people looking into the Amway (Quixtar) company. Sadly, most distributors will never see the success they desire because they lack the marketing skills to generate 50+ leads a day.

I am currently working on a section on a relatively new trend in the cult world – and that’s commercial cults. Not too many people truly understand the consequences of joining a hyped-up MLM business and how cultic its practises can really be. For now, I’ve written an article about the emotional and social consequences of commercial cults, although I haven’t mentioned Monavie/TEAM in the article, it is part of my story.

Stay tuned!

UPDATE – April 2011 Working on a separate page on Commercial Cults, scams, and mind control, understanding the psychology behind the decisions that we make. Meanwhile here’s a video from CBC Marketplace Won’t Be Fooled Again, a documentary with guest Simon Lovell, a former conartist. The psychology is eerily similar in how we fall into MLM/pyramid schemes.

I just wanted to tell what I went through, as I seriously need to let this off my chest. I’ll

I just wanted to tell what I went through, as I seriously need to let this off my chest. I’ll copy/paste what I written on various support forums and an old blog I used to have (I got rid of the blog now). I compiled and tried to edit it so it’ll make some sense to you, mind you the grammar is still awful.

“After seven months of being an independent distributor for MonaVie and member of TEAM, I have become more wise but also more in debt. From August of 2009 to February of 2010, I put in everything that I could to try to make my home-based business work and to try to keep upbeat and motivated as well. With my upline’s support I attended meetings, kept autoship, attended one major convention, as well as contacted everyone that I knew, not one person
signed up underneath me or even became a preferred customer.

How did I get sucked in?

I will just tell you how they “showed the plan” to me, and what I had to do to my new prospects. My husband and I were asked to list our dreams and goals. We wanted to get out of our credit card debt, buy a house, and a recreational boat, and I wanted to study another language. My upline then told me about TEAM, and how with TEAM, we can accomplish all of our dreams and be a blessing to others. She constantly repeated the phrase “We are blessed to be a blessing to others” which fit into Biblical principles. Then she talked about the wonders of the Acai Berry in Brazil, and its health benefits, then introduced Monavie to us. (Throughout the whole time I was trying to get her to cut to the chase, and tell me exactly what she wanted, and she kept on saying “I will get to that…” then proceeded her presentation as if she wasn’t interrupted.) After, she gave me a book and 2 CDs to read then rushed off before I can say anything. Later that evening, Hubby and I talked about it and we decided to wait a few months and we’ll talk about it then. She came back 2 days later and Hubby wasn’t there, and I told my upline that I was going to wait for 2 months and we’ll figure out the financial part. I also said that I’d like to do research on the company as well. (Now here’s a red flag that should have gotten my attention but didn’t!) She told me not to do research outside of TEAM and Monavie simply because the information that I get other than from the company wouldn’t be accurate, and the best information I’ll be getting is directly from the TEAM leaders themselves. She then used the analogy that if you were to do learn about opening a MacDonald’s franchise you wouldn’t go to another place to find out information about the MacDonald business, but you’d go right to the MacDonald’s headquarters themselves. The same went for TEAM, why would we get information on TEAM from other resources other than TEAM itself? It seemed logical at the time. She assured me that she would help me through everything, and so I went with the flow. She told me if I were to wait a few months I may lose my chance of becoming successful, and now’s the time to get in. Paperwork was signed without me reading the terms and conditions, it was done very quickly. I was again left with another book and CDs to listen to – and so my ride with Monavie/TEAM continued on for 7 long months.

What was required of me?

-Attending the Tuesday Night Open meetings. ($5 per person)

-Get on “System” (book of the month, 6-8 CDs per month, EBC, which means Electronic Business Centre – the’s the TEAM website, and a Monthly Seminar ticket.)

-Attend monthly seminars (every Saturday)

-Attend major functions (4 times a year, both in and out of the country)

-Purchase relevant tools and starter packs to loan to new recruits when you share the plan

-Get on Autoship (preferrably on a 200-300 points volume)

TOTAL COST – I was paying roughly $400 – $500 per month including tools, gas, food, autoship, function tickets, and hotel stays, without even realising it. Basically, you were told to put in your all for working the business. You need to make sacrifices in order to become successful. Many times I’ve heard speakers talk about all the times they have left their children home with babysitters so that they could attend meetings to learn how to be more successful. Ultimately, their goals were to be stay-at-home moms living very wealthy lifestyles. These speeches were oftentimes emotional, causing the listener to laugh and cry. They would mention God a lot, basically in my opinion, using religion to promote the “faith” side of the business.

Founded in 2005, Monavie claims to be one of the biggest companies in the health and wellness industries. Its product is an acai berry-based health drink now in five different blends plus a healthy version of the popular energy drinks we see in the local cornerstores today. Though not certified organic, the blends are said to be processed with very minimal traces of pesticides and special care is taken when making the juice to retain 99% of its original nutritional content. The company boasts of its high antioxidant content, up to 4000 units of antioxidants are consumed by Monavie consumers as opposed to 200-500 units which we consume without the juice. Distributors actively drink this product and sell them for roughly $40/bottle, or $180 per case, giving them a profit of $40. Sounds pretty expensive? Not really, they will tell you. You really can’t put a price tag your health, actually it’ll be cheaper for you in the long run, having to save on (future) medical bills. Many reports range from relief from joint pain to cure for cancer. In just three and a half years, MonaVie has made its first billion dollars in sales. It’s a hard product to sell to the general population. About 95% of the time I’ve been turned down due to the pricing, with hints that if the juice is cheaper, they may consider buying it.

In early 2009, MonaVie’s Dallin Larsen officially partnered with Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady, co-founders of TEAM, a marketing company specifically geared towards leadership development and effective marketing skills. All across the thirteen countries that MonaVie has been launched in, TEAM offers open meetings, monthly seminars, and major conventions to help MonaVie distributors to better market the products and provide intense motivation to keep them enthusiastic about the business. Some people make it to the top, becoming the millionaires that Policy Council members push and promote as “dreams”. Most people, unfortunately like in any other MLM-style business, end up losing money, going broke and even losing their families. The fierce motivation of TEAM is so intense that it can really motivate the ”go-getters” of the multi-level marketers or drive the more timid people to the ground. There’s really no middle ground, no allowances for those who are struggling, no tactics to accommodate the less financially stable. In fact one person has encouraged me to go into debt as an “investment” for success. But when your credit is maxed out and you’re only barely paying the interest, and no people underneath you, you should be free to close up shop and move on to something that accommodate your own needs/character. When I was getting ready to quit I was so stressed out that I literally made myself sick. And when I finally left the business, it felt like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”

A major issue I found with TEAM was that they used the Bible and Christianity to show their integrity. I remember my upline mentioning to me that TEAM was Christian, and that’s what piqued my interest, since she herself was Christian, and my husband and I were Christians. I later found that they were using religion into the business, and even selling Christian literature alongside their tools, and I really wanted to get to business, not to read about religion. I found that it was irrevalent and that not everyone that comes into TEAM have the same religion as we did. (I’m Messianic Jewish by faith, but I keep my beliefs to myself to dealing with business, and I felt that if I wanted to go to a religious service, I’d go to church or synagogue if I needed some spiritual guidance.) Heck, they even had team “Pastors” – yep, real Reverends – putting out spiritual CDs in relation to TEAM materials!

Here is a post I wrote about my experience in an online forum – a person asked about joining Monavie/TEAM but was wondering about the founders of TEAM’s credibility as they actually tried to sue their former biz partners 3 times! Of course, the case was dismissed in Amway’s favour each time! lol

“I was with Monavie/TEAM for 7 months. I will tell you that from personal experience it is a scam. They’re very pushy in getting you in the business, buying the tools, and getting you to go in debt in order to be successful. In fact I worked right up until all of my credit was gone then was damaged. And even then I was discouraged from leaving. It was progressive, of course. I started off as “Step 250″ which was a points volumn of 2 cases of Monavie & a case of EMV. Then came the pressure to buy all the latest CDs & attend all the functions. Mind you, nothing was free – even the Tuesday night opens weren’t free, they were $5 per person. When I saw my credit was getting high I limited my autoship to the minimum of 100PV – which I faced disapproval from my upline. Then after a few months I realised that I was only barely paying the interest off my debt. I then went off system (which is the seminar tickets + books & CDs) Again I faced disapproval. I have to make it clear that my uplines KNEW about my financial situation. I finally canceled my autoship as I didn’t have any money left – this was this past February. Again, I faced disapproval – but how was I going to keep going with no money? By that time my stresss level was so bad I was crying hysterically, throwing up, taking anxiety attacks, feeling tremendous pressure, and feeling hopeless. I then decided to quit the website subscription and close all of my accounts. It felt like a weight’s been lifted off my shoulders - but not for very long. I had 13 bottles of Monavie juice left & about $2000 worth of tools left. Though I gave most of them away to my friend up in Ontario who was making it in Monavie/TEAM, I still currently have $350 worth left, and about $450 worth of juice. I spoken to my now former upline, hoping I can at least get rid of my tools for $200, I was told she couldn’t do it as it wouldn’t be benefiting her since she’s not getting it from TEAM directly. When I offered to just give it to her, she agreed to take it off my hands and give to her downline. However, my husband overheard my coversation and put his foot down. He told me either sell the stuff to her or give it to my friend in Ontario who’s not financially stable yet. I then was able to compromise with him that if I offered my former upline all that I had – the juice and tools for $300, will I be able to do so. He said yes, I called her back with the compromise, only to have her ignore me and not return my messages. I feel cheated and alone, hurt, angry. I’ll warn everyone to get out of TEAM before you get burnt.”

Comment on a blog entry, waiting moderation:
“I was a member of Monavie/TEAM for 7 months. When I first joined, my sponsor put an emphasis on what my dreams and goals are, but I quickly caught on that she was trying to sell me into a MLM and demanded her to cut right to the chase. LOL she shut me right up with her slick words and “I will get to that” so there was no budging her. She made it sound so good, that she was going to help me, and since our family has known her for 20 years and went to the same church as her, I decided to join her. She did, in fact, help me – by being a “mentor” of sorts, pushing me to going to all the Open Meetings, (which were NOT free!) seminars, buy books, CDs, materials, Top Five Books, Conventions – all at a sacrifice. After a few months of getting nowhere, I decided to quit but she pushed me to stay, don’t quit, and that if I do leave, I’ll lose my success. Pretty soon, my credit started to max out and I told her and her sponsor that, both Christians, and they told me that I had to go into debt to be successful. Finally I lessened my autoship from 2 cases of Monavie and 1 case of EMV to 1 case of Monavie, only to be met with disapproval from my sponsor and her sponsor. Then I went off system about 2 months later as I only could afford 1 case of Monavie and nothing else. They were getting annoyed with me by then. Also, they were pushing me to go to the Major Convention down in the USA which I had no money for in the first place. I finally canceled my autoship, and faced more guilt trips. I was really “losing my success” then. One night on the way to an Open Meeting, I’m not sure what happened to me, but I just started to cry hysterically, I couldn’t take the pressure anymore. I told my husband to turn the van around and take me home. About 2 weeks later, I was completely maxed out and canceled everything – all my website subscription/memberships, that was in the beginning of February. I remember going immediately to the toilet and throwing up, yet a huge relief that I was finally out. Right now, 6 months later, my husband and I are considering bankruptcy, as par the advise of several credit advisors. (People on welfare really don’t have much of a choice unless they can get a 2nd part-time job.) I no longer attend the church that my sponsor and her sponsor attend as now they’re treating my whole family(in-laws included) with coldness. I’m warning everyone to get out of TEAM. Click on my name for my blog entry.”

UPDATE: (Jan 2011)

For a few months in a desperate attempt to pay of that debt, I would stay up all night trying to earn money off the Internet. I just made myself more stressed out and sick. I also got pregnant and lost the baby at only 6 weeks. It was then started to relax get my much-needed rest (and no, I didn’t rest very much when I was in monavie/team, either, in fact I was so stressed out by pressure.) It was hell.

Bankruptcy is now something I can avoid. The debt is still high but I’m managing now to pay enough on to my debt that I’m slowly paying off my principle. I’ve asked my former upline twice to apologise to me in the past 2 months for what she did and she ignored my emails. My husband says I have to forgive my upline, but I can’t, it’s so hard, I’m feeling the effects of this financially every freaking DAY when I wasn’t before I joined TEAM. I feel horrible for what i put my family through, I was selfish. And here I am going through this inner tumoil, not able to talk to anyone outside except for an online forum were us ex-TEAM members support each other and provide information. Now that I’ve left, I made it a point to personally apologise to everyone whom I contacted to try to get into the business. One man was angry at my upline’s upline, several people actually thanked me for talking to them and apologising, and the others just said everything’s okay.

***I would strongly urge anyone who is or have been in TEAM (now called LIFE) to go to Amthrax’s site – it has been a great help for me for emotional healing.***

Circus Maneuvering by Eugenia Erazo Public Relations crisis management is understood to control spec

Circus Maneuvering

by Eugenia Erazo

Public Relations crisis management is understood to control specific situations, corporate, individual, etc. It would be easy to believe these individuals or corporations already have a publicly known issue needing to be tamed. Would handling such potential issues, before they become public, still be considered crisis management?

Absolutely– it is up to PR practitioners to approach delicate matters with suitable responses that will prevent any further complications to a company’s profits or a person’s image. The Crisis Manager is an Internet newsletter that as the name suggest, discusses this phenomenon. Its editor, Jonathan Bernstein, invited Lisa M. Chapman as a guest commentator on his January 24 issue.

Lisa M. Chapman, business-marketing coach and consultant, commented on Quixtar’s PR disaster. “(Quixtar) suffered corporate disaster – all because they had inadequate web presence, inadequate ‘listening’ practices, and inadequate response habits.”

She explains how the core of the problem initiated when former Amway branch sister, Quixtar, experienced the rage of angry bloggers who posted negative videos and comparisons to market prices that made the company’s famous business model questionable.

In essence, these bloggers didn’t agree or approve of Quixtar’s business; Quixtar’s lack of responses to accusations and comments evolved into the need of a merger with Amway. Quixtar and Amway re-branded their company as Amway Global. Chapman further named Quixtar’s crisis response as “Too Little Too Late,” costing the company about $600 million or more.

David Touretzky created a website named Amway/Alticor/Quixtar Sucks! His website outlines these companies’ actions against the same bloggers, claims of the companies’ fraudulent intentions, several articles promoting Amway negatively, and more. Touretzky presents a modified Amway logo, which reads Scamway, demonstrating his opinion about the company.

It is vital to understand how social media function and use these sites for the client’s advantage. Chapman also stated that if a company maintains monitoring as an early awareness mechanism, training for response messaging, quick action plans and multiple websites to reach the public, a company’s chance to prevent or correct potentially destructive crisis is maximized.

As simple as it may seem, having had basic web navigation techniques could have spared Quixtar from the painful cost they had to endure. It is why with crisis managers in public relations must keep the power of word of mouth in mind. In a highly competitive market customers or clients want benefits and rewards from retailers and companies raising their expectations of what great customer service means. Often, companies will give such rewards and incentives.

Why? One unhappy customer will make sure others know how unsatisfactory a service or good was through word of mouth. As hazardous as WOM may seem it can also make a company grow exponentially when a customer is content.

The Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) offers certificate programs and seminars that educate brand leaders on how to use social media successfully to create “organizational readiness and engagement around social media.”

It seems that the rise of blogging and micro blogging entities and social networking sites has opened a path of possibilities to conventional crisis management and prevention. These modern technological tools can contribute to the well-being of an organization as easily as they could make their stability hang by a string.

The incredibly challenging task of juggling these two together brings forth a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities. Companies, organizations and individuals and their teams of dedicated public relations professionals are the ultimate problem solvers and preventers.

Finally! A new post! Well, this past weekend, in our business, there was a celebration we call FED.

Finally! A new post! Well, this past weekend, in our business,
there was a celebration we call FED. It celebrates the financial foundation of
our country, capitalism. It celebrates those that have embraced it, and
furthered it, by becoming business owners and empowering others to do the same.
And it celebrates freedom. Freedom to achieve. Freedom to live. Freedom to pass
on a legacy to our heirs and, not the least freedom, the freedom to recognize those
that have fought to keep our freedoms alive. And it’s called FREE ENTERPRISE
DAYS!

Every year, veterans are brought up on stage, their stories told,
their service recognized and their sacrifice honored. Honored with a standing
ovation of enthusiastic appreciation and cheer. Honored by the due recognition
of people who didn’t waste the freedom sacrificed for by the veterans, but
rather used it to further the well-standing of God, country and family. And
honored, by just letting them know that we are an organization of people who
haven’t forgotten them, or the price they have paid.

That’s only part of the story, of course. There are other veterans
here to recognize and celebrate. They are a different kind of warrior, but
freedom fighters all the same. These are the ones that have fought for their
families, and their achievements, in the living rooms of America. They carry
the scars that come when you force the truth out your relative – “No, we
don’t believe in you.” The pain of hypocrisy, “Hope you do well,
support you?, Oh, we couldn’t be involved in that.” But you, …you are
here to clearly, loudly, boldly and directly support these, the leaders in our
business. The ones that have gone forth and blazed the trail for you. There are
life stories told. Overcomings that rival anything holding you back. And every
emotion in the spectrum; felt, shared and treasured from now on. And, most of
all, your here for the celebration of all the achievement that really was
waiting on the other side of all those pains and perils and overcommings!

Free Enterprise Days fills the weekend. In fact, it is celebrated
over several weekends to accommodate all that wish to attend, but would be geographically
constrained. And it is the most awesome event I had ever attended when I went
to my first one. I call it an upper room experience! If you don’t get that,
hang around, you will. To be in a room to take part in something you’re already
excited about, and then to have it hit you all of a sudden, that everybody here
is doing exactly what you’re doing. Not like at a meeting, where you hope one
or two will sympathize with your cause, not looking over twenty or thirty
eyeballs to see who has the look of agreement. But, to look upon a crowed of
many thousands, no one in their seat, and to know they all agree with you,
there on your side, and your all there with one purpose and in one accord.
Every raised hand, every cheer, scream and clap is in support of you, and yours
for them. If you never have, then you simply never have. Do not miss the
opportunity to attend a Major Function. There all Great!!

About a couple of months back we (my wife and I) made some new friends. They visited our place, had some snacks and chatted for a while. Then last week, they invited us to their place. A short 10 mile drive from where I live. So we visited them this Saturday.

As soon as we entered their place, the guy- lets call him ‘M’; started talking about how busy he had been the last couple of months. They had some M&A in this company and he was away to Singapore, India, UK- every place other than Africa. He then went on to say that he came to Michigan from India on a pay of 2K per month and with sheer positive thinking he made it big in the US. I was thinking to myself- wow a smart guy, who does not refrain from bragging- but still it was not awkward.

M went on to ask me about what I did, we spoke about BP’s oil spill- being in Houston he too works for an oilfield service company. He started enquiring why I was still working for an Indian company, while US firms would pay me much more etc… usual conversation in Indian circles, and I still did not get it. Wonder if any of you have figured out where this conversation is going?

Mrs M gave us some snacks and M suggested that we should all get together and do something- go to a movie or a picnic and took my email address. All this time Mrs M was explaining to my wife how happy she was that she was able to work from home and take care of the kids and had complete freedom and flexibility. Believe me, I still did not understand what was happening. Then M started off, asked me how I would like to make another 30-40K a year with about 8-10 hours of work per week. He told me that he was a part of a E-Commerce Direct Marketing business in partnership with Dell and Bestbuy and others…

Then I understood what this was all about. This was not about friendship or movie of picnic, this was about one of the curses of today’s society- Amway, Quixtar- what ever you call it. People spend most of their spare time trying to con other people to join in. Spend endless hours listening to tapes, attending seminars and losing all their friends because they are only looking at expanding their down-line and pleasing their up-line.

When I came to the US, in the first 2-3 months I was stopped by at least 3-4 Indians in malls and grocery stores seeking to be friends with me, and I quickly realized that they were Amway folks and stayed far away from them. Guess not having met these folks in the last 2-3 years had dulled me into believing that Amway and Quixtar – or whatever their new name is has gone away; well they are still alive and kicking.

What is it about the American spirit that says I know this is what conventional wisdom is saying but

What is it about the American spirit that says I know this is what conventional wisdom is saying but I’m gonna ignore it and do my own thing anyway? I suppose that was what this country was founded on. I know that you are a super power and we are just a few colonies but we are going to go to war with you and fight for our independence. And then years later we are going to become allies with you. It just defies logic.

I love that kind of attitude and I was pleasantly surprised to see that attitude in Tim Foley. Tim Foley, of NFL fame for being on the undefeated Dolphins team of ’72, said to the conventional wisdom of networking to go stick it in your ear. Tim Foley did the tough work building networks outside of the US when that was frowned upon. Everyone told Tim Foley that it would fail but he held on and made it work. Tim Foley went on to build giant groups in Brazil and Spain and showed all of the experts how wrong they were.

I suppose I am drawn to someone like Tim Foley because he did not listen to the other network leaders. Tim Foley encompasses what it means to be American and just not care what the facts tell you. Tim Foley proved the American dream which is find an idea, work really hard at, make it work, and find success. So many people get an idea, put in some work, and are either talked out of it by the so called experts or give up. I like that Tim Foley kept with it until he found success. There seems to be a lack of that kind of ethic in today’s market.

Tim Foley made an unaccepted idea profitable, he defied the naysayers, and he made a lot of money doing it. I can’t think of anything more American than that.

In a desperate attempt not to sound like the thousands of MLM experts out there who know their stuff

In a desperate attempt not to sound like the thousands of MLM experts out there who know their stuff, I thought I would keep this simple and to the point aimed at those who basically insist on building an MLM organization using the Old School Traditional methods still being promoted today by some of the top companies in Network Marketing today.

Follow these tips, and you will dramatically increase your sponsoring rate towards building your MLM Business.

Do you take brochures with you wherever you go? This is a tactic that produced millions in volume. It gives you an excuse to talk to someone, it reminds you to talk to folks, and also is a confidence builder as you let the brochure be your silent presenter if the occasion arises. Simply take a brochure with you wherever you go. We called it “the left hand’s 6th finger.” We had it constantly in our left hand and had thousands ask us about the brochure, and we never said a word. It is called “Silent Recruiting.” We were silently displaying what we did for a living and being “visible in the marketplace.”

Do you engage in 2 new conversations a day with 2 new people you’ve met for the first time? 2 conversations a day should be the minimum you do as far as recruiting. There are so many people out there to talk to, and talking to 2 everyday should be a cakewalk. If you practice this, you will have talked to over 700 people a year. And you probably will sell 20% of those a product and recruit 5-8% of them. That would be 140 new customers a year and about 40 new mlm distributors a year. NOT BAD!

Do you list the 2 people everyday that you plan on calling? This is a million dollar habit. Make a list every weekend of the 2 people you plan on talking to on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, etc. Then call them on that day. This gives you direction, and a plan to make something happen. It also focuses you to a LASER focus, and you know EXACTLY what you are to do for the week as far as contacting new people.

Do you hand out 2 recruiting tools a day for new exposures? Tools help bridge the gap between inexperience and experience. Tools have total duplicability and say the same thing every time. Plus it FOCUSES you to make something happen that is easy and brief. We have an MLM Recruiting Tool called “Conquer The Internet” that is SCORCHING HOT for introduction to what is a craze (even though you are traditionally chugging away at it) of utilizing the internet to build an MLM Business.

Do you do a minimum of 2 three ways a day? Three ways are the single greatest tool you have in recruiting, and you should learn to MASTER them. This brings credibility into play like nothing else. If you are not doing three way calling, then you are working this business handicapped. Three ways are the MASTER TOOL in Network Marketing, and you should master this process with your people. It can help you EXPLODE your recruiting, and 2 a day is a MUST.

Do you make it a point to see and be aware of who is around you wherever you are? The easiest way to turn your MLM Recruiting Radar on, is everywhere you go, carry either a brochure, Cd or business cards with you. This will not only PROMPT you to be more aware of who is around you, but also give you an excuse to give it to someone. This will help you develop the habit of being AWARE of who is in your MLM Business Recruiting Environment. Many people are around you daily. Literally people that could ROCK this business, but yet, are never talked to by you because of a lack of focus.

Do you carry product — or information/free trial about your services — in your car that you plan on marketing and selling to people? Many MLM Business Millionaires I have found all have product in the car all the time in case they run into the “right prospect.” If you market services that are not tangible products, carry with you a way to show how the service works, or a tool that does. It is called show and tell. And you should be ready to show and tell anytime, anywhere, with anybody. This will help you tremendously with your exposure rate.

I hope these quick tips for building your MLM Business helps. I’ll see you at the Top!

Committed To Your Success!

So often we think we need to know everything there is to know about our products, services, systems

So often we think we need to know everything there is to know about our products, services, systems and tools to be the best leader in our business utilizing the concepts of internet marketing online. The truth of things however remain the same whether we prospect offline or online and that is knowing that people are the core of your internet business and the better you know them, the bigger your paycheck will inevitably be.
Every last one of the top earners in network marketing understand this concept to the fullest. Internet marketing is no different. Understanding personalities inside of internet marketing to build your network marketing business will allow you to be way above your competition by leaps and bounds. Need proof?? Have you ever run into someone in your company who was a top earner and yet who wasn’t the best presenter or network marketer or even knew everything about the products? They perhaps didn’t even know you like yourself that they could build a business utilizing concepts taught inside the internet marketing arena because they built their business using traditional methods. Did that amaze you and leave you even more dumbfounded as to what you were doing wrong while having access to literally millions of more people? Well if you have ever experienced this, I can tell you that single thing that they are good at is understanding people. Once again to drill this into your head, People are the core of your network marketing business not your product, not your service, not your comp plan.

Personality types are taught in different ways, by different people. Some people teach animals, colors, jewels, seasons, etc. No matter which way you were taught or are learning it today, the one thing that you want to know is that there are basically four main personality types. In this particular blog post, I am going to break down the different elements into the descriptions… Fire, Ice, Earth, and Water. Please don’t concern yourself with the words that I’m using in describing the personalities but instead I want you to focus on the personality types characteristics and to focus on learning how to connect with them better. Once you truly understand these personality types, your bank account will explode. REALLY!

Let’s begin.

Your “Fire” personality is your type A person. They are typically very decisive, goal oriented, independent, persistent, competitive and a goal focused type of person. They are attracted to leadership, money, lifestyle, challenges, freedom, and material possessions. They can be very impatient, poor listeners, demanding at times, pushy, impulsive, and they may ocassionally speak over you if you are slow in speech. If you are discussing your internet business with them and you notice these things, they are not trying to be rude, it’s just their way. You should definitely keep up the pace when speaking with these individuals. These types of people are your true leaders and they don’t need a lot of hand holding once they are in business with you. They want you to get to the point – right now – so you have to challenge them, play up to their ego’s, let them know what you can do for them. When it comes to showing them your plan show them the big picture and how they will actually fit into it and they part they will play in that picture. These don’t take orders very well, so simply give them options and not opinions.

Your “Ice” personality which has been labeled “green” or personified as the jewel, emerald is your very analytical, very accurate, detail oriented, orderly, professional business type of person. Typically accountants, executive administrative assistants, etc. You can normally tell who they are by looking at them closely. They dress very modest, have calenders which can tell you what they are doing for months in advance and they love to research things. Expect them to research your internet business and do their own internet marketing research on your opportunity. Once you have spoken with them and they leave your presence you can rest assure that they will Google the negative as well and look for the cons on the information besides that which you have already shared. They work very slow because everything has to be perfect in sence. They normally avoid making quick decisions on the spot because they as mentioned have to do research by nature. They are motivated by clearly defined tasks, stability, security, low risk and tasks that require precision and planning. You’ll want to give them the facts and your own references and then leave them alone. Present logical reasons to do your internet business and avoid any hype whatsoever because outlandish claims and hype is a total turn off for them.

Your “Earth” personality is your life of the party and they go with the flow of things. They are very enthusiastic, optimistic, exciting, outgoing, personal, fun loving, and inspirational people. Typically when the music comes on they don’t have to be told to start dancing. Online marketing is attractive to these types maily because of the people they meet and the networking aspects of things. They can also be very unrealistic however, reactive, impulsive, and in most cases very unorganized. Your “earth” personalities are quickly bored by routine as well and are not motivated by money. They are motivated by recognition from others and most importantly by having fun. Don’t bore them with all the facts. Just talk about the fun, the events, the great vacations and fun atmosphere and the friendliness of the organization. Be sure to get them on a three-way to introduce them to a few of those already involved in your internet business. Don’t bore them with the compensation plan irregardless of how great it is because they once again don’t care. They want to go to the party after the meeting!! Earth personalities know a lot of people and are true social butterflies. These are your business builders. If they have a Facebook or Myspace page then you best better believe that they have a lot of friends… hence, your network! They need to be told what to do, but do it in a nice way. Whatever they are doing, it must be fun or they will quit doing it. Reassure them that you will be there for them when they need you and whatever you do, smile and laugh with them all the time!

Your “Water” personality is your very patient, easy going, stable, empathetic, reliable, supportive type of person. These will give away the very products they are promoting for free, so watch this otherwise your internet business will become very charitable instead of profitable. They are motivated by helping others and seeing others succeed and so they go to extremes in some cases trying to help others. They are very indecisive, and slow to take action so in most cases you have to make a decision for them. They always try to avoid confrontation and are fearful of change. These are the most loyal members however of your team if they get into an internet business with you and will be great listeners as well. Basically they sincerely have a need for quality relationships. They don’t care how much you know unless they know how much you care. Always show genuine concern about what their needs are and remind them of how much they can help others by becoming involved with your internet business. Show them the big picture in relation to helping hundreds and even thousands of people and they will be some of your best teammates.

Well I do hope I have helped you to understand the four personality types and obviously there is much more detail on each one then this. However, if you use these brief descriptions as a guide point when talking to your prospects online you will see a difference in the responses you begin to receive and get better at connecting with them when you master understanding personality types.

REMEMBER once again. Your product is people, so know more about people than you do your product and you will make a lot of money in this wonderful industry called network marketing and you’ll become the next internet marketing superstar!!

Factors Affecting Your Skin

Although your skin type is basically constant throughout your life, some lifestyle choices and environmental factors can affect how your skin behaves.

Sleep. Get 7-8 hours a night. Benefit: Your skin renews itself by building new cells while you sleep.

Vitamin C. Eat vitamin C-rich foods and take a supplement for extra insurance. Benefit: Vitamin C is a potent free-radical scavenger that’s known for its corrective and preventative benefits for sun- and environmentally-damaged skin.

Water. Drink 6-8 glasses of filtered water per day. Benefit: improved circulation and accelerated cell growth.

Exercise. Regularly. Benefit: moving around helps revive circulation and speeds blood flow to the surface of your skin. Added benefit: Exercise can help alleviate stress. See #5.

Stress. Relax your mind by exercising your body. Especially unclench your facial muscles. Benefit: Relieving stress can mean avoiding blemishes, hives, colour loss and under-eye circles. One more thing – your mother was right: Habitually tense facial expressions can create permanent lines.

The “no-no’s.” Avoid them. Your skin hates alcohol, tobacco and caffeine, and will show you by losing moisture or forming wrinkles that make you look older sooner. Avoid the no-no’s and get this benefit: You’ll look younger longer. (Be aware that some medications can make skin more sensitive.)

Natural aging. As we age our skin becomes drier and loses elasticity, which can cause wrinkles and fine lines. How to manage: Use a specially formulated age-defying moisturizer at night to nourish and renew your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Sun is the most damaging of all environmental factors. Continued exposure damages and wrinkles your skin. Sun exposure is also a major cause of skin cancer. How to manage: Avoid long exposure and use a facial moisturizer with sunscreen – every day. At night use a renewal moisturizer to repair damage.

Low/high humidity. Low humidity robs your skin of essential moisture, while high humidity can make skin feel oily. How to manage: Nourish your skin with a good moisturizer to fight low humidity. In high humidity, that oily feeling isn’t moisture – you still need a moisturizer that will help protect skin from dryness.

Extreme temperatures. Both cold and hot temperatures with low humidity deplete moisture from your skin and leave it tight and dry. How to manage: Nourish skin with a good moisturizer. Another hint: Use lukewarm, not hot or cold water to rinse your face.

Wind. Strong wind, especially with extreme temperatures and low humidity, can cause dry, flaky skin. How to manage: Re-hydrate with a good moisturizer.

Air pollution. Windborne dust, dirt, and smog can clog pores and choke your skin. How to manage: Protect your skin with a good moisturizer that forms a “barrier” between you and that nasty stuff floating around you. Carefully cleanse and condition every night. Post Courtesy of Amway Global

Since I am a former IBO/distributor of both Quixtar and Amway I will make an extra effort to be obje

Since I am a former IBO/distributor of both Quixtar and Amway I will make an extra effort to be objective. I have been a fan of network marketing concept for years. I like the idea that you can leverage your time and money by using such principles inherent in MLM such as time compounding and residual income. Here come the but…. what if these principles don’t pan out no matter how hard I try. I was never a pushy type of person, and I don’t like rejection, so what the hell was I doing in network marketing? Well for one I am truly an entrepreneurial spirit, even from my high school days. That is the caption under my high school yearbook photo.
So let me get to the point. I signed up for Amway during my first term in the Air Force under a good friend of mine. Quixtar pretty much became my life. I drank and ate the “business”; the filtered water and even the disgusting Shaq bars. OMG, those things tasted like wood, but they were from my “business”. I have to say I loved going to quarterly conventions. Man, did you get fired up going on those road trips with your up-line, cross-lines, and down-lines. It was like being with family. People who shared your dreams and hopes for the future. You know what, now that I think back that’s why I stuck it out in the “business” even though I never really made any money. Was it a cult? I would not say it was a cult, but the higher up-lines did use some brainwashing techniques even though some might not have realized it. For example, the no negative media, or staying away from dream stealers, were an isolation techniques used by numerous cults. If someone even question the viability of the business they were consider dream stealers. That sound so corny now in retrospect.
I left the Air Force and went back to the islands where I continued to run my “business” out of the spare efficiency from my mom’s house. I do have to say people loved the soap and the scrub pads. LOL. After a while I lost communication with my up-line and didn’t bother renewing. I quit. I guess I let the dream stealers snuff out my dream. No not really. I stopped going to the function and that main dynamic was missing. The “system” and the “tools” where no longer doing the job of keeping me motivated. Later on, I moved back to the main land and I had a little side hustle selling mixed tapes and video games and movies. I was wrestling with the idea of joining another network marketing company and I had been monitoring what Amway was doing. I heard there was a new kid in town called Quixtar, actually it was just Amway reincarnated. I had been doing some research on it and I have to say I was kind of impressed. It seems Jay and Rich had handed the reins of Alticor over to the young bloods in the family. They decided they would modernize Amway and through the internet Quixtar was born. The company was affectionately referred to as just the “Business”. This was what I had been saying Amway needed to do. I hated having to place my orders through my direct distributor and getting my checks from them. I hated with a passion. Now, I was my own man. I controlled my destiny. OK, I was back and I was going to be successful. Well, if revenge is a dish best served cold, I am assuming success was best frozen. I stuck around in the “business” for years, having minimum success. I guess I blamed my lack of success on my wife’s negativity. Eventually I can to see this company for what it was. An opportunity that was saturated and designed to keep the heavy hitters wealthy. I probably could have been successful in the “business” but I found out some things along the way that left a bitter taste in my mouth. Also I watched my up-line almost on the verge of bankruptcy, and how the group abandoned and talked bad about him and his wife when he stopped coming to the meetings. All the hoopla and hype gave me a bad attitude at work. I want as they chanted at all the meetings, rallies and convention to “flush that stinking job”. Yes that job that paid for my products and all the other tools I needed to build my “business”.
My wife still lovingly tried to convince me that I was hypnotized and that I was involved in something way too creepy. She just didn’t get it. I was going to be free. I was going to be one of those people on stage talking and she would be by my side. That’s if she played her part of course. I can’t lie. I did have fantasies of replacing her with one of those wives that were so loyal and helpful to their husbands in the business. WOW. I remember her telling me about this glassy eye look I had when ever I talked about the “business” or any of the leaders. I would get on a rant about Bill Britt and how much of a godly man he was. Oh yes. Christianity and conservativeness was a very strong trait in any of the leaders that got on stage. I can’t really remember seeing any leader on stage that openly admitted to being a democrat. These guys knew how to spin religion and politics to sell their wares. I didn’t realized but I was starting to assimilate and become like everyone else in the group. Their views became my views. It wasn’t instant but over time. I started dressing like them and talking like them. We were emulating success. I watch others come into the fold with their own style and carrying on. It was just a matter of time before they became assimilated also. If only I could get my wife to come to one of our rally, she would see what I saw. Not quite and I thank God.
It was after a meeting, and a late night rally, I came home. Before I left, my wife was nagging me about me being so focused on the “business” and how I was neglecting my family. She said I was to wrapped up in this thing. So…. I gave her the ultimate challenge. I dared her to find any thing negative on the on our godly leader and I would quit. Word of advice to all you men out there, don’t challenge any woman unless you are certain about what you are talking about. She had opened up on the computer that “60 Minutes” piece. I seen that piece before; that didn’t faze me. So you have critics. I wasn’t ready for the piece “Night Line” had just done. That’s not all. She had more. It was like finding out you’re being cheated on and you’re the last one to know. By this time my direct up-line who was one of my closest friends in the business was pretty much out of the business trying put back together his life financially. I had no choice but to face the hard facts. What I was involved if it wasn’t a cult, it sure did act like a borderline one. I was involved in this business for going on 3 years and didn’t have much success to show for it.
I still was not going to just quit. I decided I would build the business my way and not take advantage of people just to get ahead. I was really going to help people reach their dreams. It wasn’t until I discovered a better opportunity which I won’t name here did I completely sever my ties. After doing some of my own research, I read “Merchant of Deceptions” by Eric Scheibeler, Former Amway Founder’s Emerald. That’s when I closed the book on the “business. I shunned any MLM opportunities for over 4 years after that.
So is Quixtar a viable business opportunity and is it relevant to today’s entrepreneurs? I would have to honestly say from my experiences the answer is a resounding NO. However I challenge you to be objective and be armed. Perform your due diligence. Know the five pillars of success. You will not go wrong if you have this information. You can find this information for free on my blog.
Before you join any opportunity there are some litmus test you can use to tell whether you should join or run.

So my second satire piece was published today on The Daily Blank. Once again, I’ll repost the entire article here because their license allows it. But check ‘em out some time—whether you live in Chicago or not, there’s something there for you.

Pyramid schemes help to alleviate Chicago unemployment

Bars, movie theaters, grocery stores, pyramid schemes. Some businesses tend to weather economic downturns particularly well—but it’s pyramid schemes that take more Chicagoans out of poverty and into prosperity, a new study finds.

According to a study that preferred to be unnamed for fear of retribution—pyramid schemes have been known to viciously pursue litigation—Chicagoans are beginning work with these types of companies at ever-increasing rates.

The schemes confirm that they exist for the same reason any other business exists—to be “awesome” for their employees.

“I’m Hispanic and it’s in our DNA to want to provide for our families,” said Manuel Gonzales, an employee of a pyramid scheme whose leader is based in Chicago. “What I do allows me to do that, certainly monetarily and also with time. I only work 10 to 15 hours a week.”

According to the study, many Chicagoans who reported they recently left unemployment also reported they now make salaries of several hundred thousand dollars. (Caution: these results are not scientific. NBC’sDateline has found employees of pyramid schemes occasionally lie about salaries and working conditions to promote their organizations.)

“What are your values?” Gonzales said. “Whatever they are, we help you keep them while working with us.”

Organizations such as Better World Shopper and GoodGuide, whose purpose is to determine the social and environmental responsibility of companies, have not rated pyramid schemes. This means, in fact, that these organizations have not rated pyramid schemes negatively.

Martha Johnson, an Irving Park resident, has enjoyed her time working for a Chicago pyramid scheme.

“I tried searching Craigslist for jobs,” Johnson said. “I found a few Gold Coast residents who wanted to pay me $25 an hour to do their shopping, but after I gave them all my information, they never got back to me. I figured it was probably a scam, so I decided to go with a pyramid scheme instead. Now I’ll never have to worry about jobs or money again.”

Scheme insiders say that rather than using impersonal means like Craigslist, they prefer recruiting employees in the traditional way—by prowling in corner coffee shops.
