Responsibilities:

The KAE sales role is responsible for selling Our Client’s Acute Care Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Reporting along with other Services to community hospitals, large hospital enterprises, and integrated delivery networks, in civilian and government markets.   The KAE is an expert at selling RIS productivity improvements to differentiate our client in marketplace by understanding radiology workflow.  Position requires ability to analyze hospital’s current workflow versus future state workflow improvements, and working with sales applications expert to present and demonstrate new workflows. 

 Position also requires team selling with other full-line IT Key Account Executives in the field to drive RIS/PACS revenue within two sales Regions/Zones, by developing account sales strategies, technical configurations, quotations, presentations, and assisting with statements of work and product demos. Responsible for achieving RIS sales budget and ensuring customer order packet received (quote, SOW,SMA, T&C’s).

Qualifications:

Minimum five years directly related work experience in healthcare industry sales, preferably in Radiology medical imaging and clinical information systems (RIS).  In-depth Enterprise (Acute Care) RIS/PACS product and industry knowledge, computer systems, networking and telecommunications.  Problem solving, complex account management, creativity, leadership, interpersonal communication skills, time management, negotiation, computer literate, and platform/presentation skills. Ability to communicate complex clinical & technology information both verbally & in writing for varied internal and external audiences.  Position requires extensive (75%) travel.

The USCIS confirmed that as of November 27, 2009, it received 58,900 H-1B petitions which are counted towards the 65,000 general H-1B cap.  That is 700 petitions more than the generally allotted 58,200 visas.  As you may be aware, Singapore and Chile have 6800 combined H-1B1 numbers counted in the general cap too.  This means USCIS is likely to announce in the next few days that the H-1B quota has reached the cap.  As of now, it continues to accept H-1B petitions in general H-1B quota.

H.R. 3962 would deliberately permit illegal aliens to participate in the government health insurance exchange and in the public option insurance program. It would nominally bar them from receiving health care “affordability credits” and most regular Medicaid benefits, but verification procedures are weak and subject to fraud. Moreover, any limitations on benefits provided to illegal immigrants under the House bill are deceptive. The Presi­dent and the congressional leadership clearly intend that these limits will be only temporary, to be overturned by amnesty or “comprehensive immigration reform” legisla­tion that will be introduced next spring.

And here are the main points:

The health care bill recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 3962) clearly and directly contradicts the President’s declarations and promises. Under H.R. 3962:

• Illegal immigrants are clearly permitted to purchase health insurance under the government health insurance exchange created by the bill.
• Illegal immigrants are permitted to receive cover age under the “public health insurance option” created in the bill.
• Illegal immigrants are ostensibly barred from receiving taxpayer-funded “affordability credits” to subsidize their health care, but the verification procedures used to determine the legal status of those who receive credits are weak and subject to fraud.
• The bill expands the Medicaid program. Illegal immigrants are nominally barred from receiving most Medicaid services, but the verification procedures used to determine the legal status of those who receive credits are also weak and sub ject to fraud.
• All illegal immigrant women who do not have private health insurance and who give birth inside the United States will have the full cost of childbirth paid by the U.S. taxpayers. There will be no effort to have the mother repay any of the cost. Given the fact that nearly 400,000 children are born inside the U.S. each year to illegal immigrant women, these costs could be quite large.
• The bill will provide tax credits to small businesses to subsidize the purchase of health insurance for illegal immigrant employees. Under H.R. 3962, small businesses will be given tax credits to encourage them to purchase health coverage for employees; because firms are not required to verify the legal status of subsidized employees, both legal and illegal employees will receive taxpayer support.
• Illegal immigrants will continue to receive so-called emergency medical services under the Medicaid program.

As of November 20, 2009, the USCIS received 56,900 H-1Bs.  Subtracting Singapore and Chile special quota of 6800 numbers in the general cap, there are only about 1300 H-1B visa numbers left for the remainder of the current fiscal year, which ends September 30, 2010.

The bill takes all sorts of choices out of patients’ and doctors’ hands. Even mammograms and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests would be similarly restricted by the government for millions of people, and they actually serve as better examples of what happens more broadly to personal medical decision making in the new system.

[...]As the pioneering prostate cancer surgeon Patrick Walsh of Johns Hopkins points out, a European randomized trial showed that PSAs saved lives. In the United States, there has been a 40 percent reduction in prostate cancer deaths since testing began in the early 1990s. Yet prostate screening arouses many of the same concerns as does breast cancer screening: too many follow-on studies, too many biopsies, and surgery on slow-growing tumors that may never have harmed the patient. The government task force claims that there’s insufficient evidence to make a recommendation for routine screening of men younger than 75 and is firmly against screening in men older than that. The American Urological Association’s position is the polar opposite: Baseline PSAs should be offered to men at age 40, and the frequency of subsequent testing should be determined by doctor and patient choice.

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests help catch prostate cancer early. The American Urological Association wants men screened with the test beginning at age 40 to catch the problem at its earliest stages.

It’s no small coincidence that it will also save the government money — and in the case of PSAs, it will save money directly if Medicare refuses to pay for PSA tests until age 75, rather than retirement age.

Right now, the US leads the world in catching, treating, and curing prostate cancer. Britain, which has a single-payer system that rations care, has one of the lowest ratings in the world. That’s not a coincidence.

He who pays the piper calls the tune. If we want to keep patient choice, then we have to pay for our own care. If we allow the government to absorb our choices in the name of “fairness,” expect the USPSTF and other government panels to ration these tests and reduce our chances of surviving these cancers.

Previously, I wrote about a Stanford University professor’s survey of health care systems around the world, in which he compared American health care to single-payer systems, favored by those on the left. In Canada, there is a 184% increase in prostate cancer mortality rates, compared with American mortality rates for prostate cancer. That’s what we’re headed for if the public option passes.

De Vlaamse emancipatieambtenaar Ingrid Pelssers had het gisteren op haar blog over het wetsvoorstel van Joëlle Milquet:

« Oui, oui, oui ! », zegt Joëlle Milquet! Door quota op te leggen wil de federale minister van Gelijke Kansen meer vrouwen in de raad van bestuur van overheidsbedrijven en beursgenoteerde bedrijven krijgen. Als Vlaamse Emancipatieambtenaar vind ik het een inspirerend plan, ook voor de “klassieke” administraties.

Alle overheden hebben een voorbeeldfunctie te vervullen, niet? Zou het dan verkeerd zijn om te stellen dat we de burger die quota in feite verschuldigd zijn? Wetenschappelijk onderzoek (onder andere van Catalyst en McKinsey) heeft immers al aangetoond dat een goede gendermix een beter beleid oplevert.

De Vlaamse overheid heeft al lovenswaardige inspanningen gedaan voor meer vrouwen in topfuncties. Het streefcijfer ligt op 33 procent voor 2015. Ik stel vast dat we op dit moment 21% vrouwen hebben op dat niveau. Dat is hoopgevend. Maar wat als dat streefcijfer over ruim vijf jaar toch niet gehaald wordt?

Minister Milquet dreigt in dat geval met sancties. Bedrijven die na een overgangsperiode van 7 jaar de quota niet waargemaakt hebben, zullen dat dus voelen. In Noorwegen heeft zo’n combinatie van quota en zachte dwang al effect gehad: daar draaien aan de top van de bedrijven nu heel wat meer vrouwen mee dan vroeger.

Ja, ja, ja! Laat maar komen die quota.

The USCIS annouced that as of November 6, 2009, it received 54,700 H-1B petitions which are counted in the general H-1B quota (out of a possible 58,200).  The advanced degree holders quota reached the cap sometime ago.  The recent surge in H-1B filings, specifically in the past 4-6 weeks, is a likely indicator that -

1) the economy is showing signs of improvement.

2) there is a shortage of skilled professionals in certain industries.

Le thon rouge fait partie des espèces menacées par la surpêche. Au même titre que certaines espèces de requins. “La meilleure chose et la plus réaliste est de suspendre la pêche, a affirmé Susan Lieberman, du Pew Environnemental Group. Bon, cela n’est pas arrivé. Ils avaient un quota l’année dernière, des scientifiques ont dit que 15 000 tonnes de poisson, c’était le maximum. Donc, l’an dernier, ils ont pêché 22 000 tonnes et on estime que 60 000 ont été pris.”
Par ailleurs, les pays membres de la commission se sont engagés à réduire de moitié leur flotte de thoniers, d’ici 2011. Selon l’Union Européenne, ce sont des mesures suffisantes pour garantir la survie de l’espèce. “La position de la commission et en particulier celle de la communauté européenne, était de suivre strictement l’avis des scientifiques, a remarqué Vincent Grimaud, représentant de l’Union Européenne. Et ce que l’opinion scientifique nous dit sur les prises totales permises, c’est qu’il devrait y avoir un quota entre 8000 et 15 000 tonnes, donc ces gens qui réclament une pêche zéro ou un moratoire ne suivent pas l’avis des scientifiques.”
Le Japon, premier consommateur mondial, s’est félicité des décisions adoptées. La pêche au thon est un commerce très lucratif. Sur le marché, un thon rouge de 600 kg peut atteindre les 100 000 dollars.

A tuna fish

TOKYO, Nov 16, 2009 (AFP) – Japan, the world’s largest consumer of bluefin tuna, hailed a 40 percent quota cut agreed in Brazil in hopes it will preempt a complete trade ban, a fisheries official said Monday.

The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) has agreed to slash the total catch in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea from 22,000 tons this year to 13,500 tons for 2010.

Environmentalists warn that bluefin tuna faces the threat of extinction because of overfishing and want its trade banned by CITES, an international body that sets rules against illegal wildlife trade.

“Japan welcomes the outcome” of the Brazil meeting, said a Fisheries Agency official. “Now the (CITES) convention has become a hot topic this year. We want to control the fish population under the ICCAT, not anything else.”

“Japan has supported a policy on sustaining resources based on scientific data, so we can continue catching the fish sustainably in future,” said the official who spoke on a condition of anonymity.

ICCAT quotas are systematically exceeded by industrial fleets. That and illegal fishing have caused the bluefin tuna population to fall by more than 85 percent in the eastern Atlantic and over 90 percent in the western Atlantic.

Japan, which consumes more than 80 percent of tuna caught in the Mediterranean, endorsed the ICCAT proposal and agreed to reduce its own catch quota accordingly by 38.6 percent to 1,148 tons.

Environmental groups are now backing a call from Monaco for the issue to be taken before a March meeting of CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, with the aim of declaring the fish endangered and putting a ban on catching it.

The Brazil meet also agreed to suspend all bluefin tuna catches in 2011 if its scientific committee shows stocks are continuing to decline.

ICCAT was set up in the late 1960s to conserve “tuna and tuna-like species in the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent seas,” according to its website.

Forty-eight countries in every region of the world — from Algeria, Barbados, China and France, to Ivory Coast, Japan, the United States and Venezuela — are contracting parties to ICCAT.

It is common knowledge that more than 250,000 students vie to get into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year. With a conversion rate of around 1%, the IIMs boast of being one of the toughest management institutes to get admission into. This supposedly guarantees recruiters of finding the best brains of the country here.

Sadly for the students and alumni of IIMs, in the coming years the IIM brand is going to come under question more than ever. The class of 2012 of the flagship PGDM programs at IIMs will see the third and final phase of implementation of the Mandal Commission’s recommendations by the government. This will take the proportion of reserved seats to a staggering 49.5%.

This of course means that the classroom has students of vastly different intellectual capabilities. Let’s take the CAT percentile as an indicator of a student’s ability. Historically, IIM students typically had high percentiles between 97 and 100 – meaning they scored better than 97% of test takers. However, now it is not uncommon for students scoring as low as 60 to 80 percentile to be part of this classroom. As can be seen in actual classrooms and by the industry as well, all IIM grads are not the brightest managers in the country today.

During placements, recruiters have already started making requests for the reservation status of the candidates, which of course are politely turned down. If we think from any recruiter’s point of view, there is tremendous competition among firms to bag the best candidates out of the lot. Recruiting MBAs is a high stakes game for most companies, given the salaries they pay to get the best talent in India. Practically speaking, it is natural for them to try and find out the quota status of an applicant or if nothing else, the CAT score and CGPA. Hell, I would try and do it if I were in their place. Ultimately, companies will tire out from not being assured of quality students and would increase their intake from institutes without quota implementation, if not giving a complete thumbs down to IIM campuses.

ISB has already demonstrated what an institute with autonomy in policy making and industry support can accomplish – it stood 15th globally in the latest Financial Times rankings, far ahead of any other Indian B-schools. Without autonomy in policy making including faculty salaries decisions, I foresee that in the coming years private institutions like MDI, IMI, XLRI, SP Jain etc would steadily gain ground and surpass the IIMs in parameters like the quality of students, faculty, placements and overall brand equity.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced recently that it received 53,200 H-1B petitions for the current fiscal year.  This means only about 5,000 visas are available of the total 58,200 (Chile and Singapore quota excluded).  The advanced degree holders quota of 20,000 already reached the cap.  If an H-1B petition is not filed while the quota is still available, (for-profit) employers will have to wait until April 1, 2010 to file fresh H-1B petitions on behalf of individuals and such employment cannot start earlier than October 1, 2010.UTY67PMTQKZD
