First off, the guest. I had no idea who this guy was, but apparently he is in some Twilight movie that is quite popular. His name is Michael Sheen, and really, that’s all I know about him. Other than he was in Frost/Nixon and does a good impersonation of Tony Blair, he is also very quick around the track. Even though he didn’t seem to be taking the correct line or driving very smooth, he somehow managed to eek out a lap that was very impressively fast. I believe that the whole lap was won in the second to last corner, where he entered at an unbelievable pace that I have never before seen. Maybe more stars should use that tactic.

In the car test, Clarkson had an Audi R8 V10 on track. He said it was amazingly quick, and it should be. The thing has a Lamborghini V10 in the back that pumps out 520 hp, but it also costs about $150,000. And it doesn’t even look that much different from the V8, except for the little V10 badge on the arches and those horrible looking wheels. Really, those wheels are horrendous and I’m surprised they were approved. Overall, the car sounds good, looks good and goes really fast; but not as fast as the Chevy Corvette ZR1. Though these two cars may not seem like direct competitors, they are actually closer than you might think. For one thing, the Vette has a supercharged V8 that pumps out a ridiculous 638 hp and 604 ft lbs of torque. This means that it is faster than the Audi through the quarter mile and has a higher top speed. It is also surprisingly faster around a track, though you really do have to work at it to make it fast. Also, the Corvette costs only $107,000, and that is a bargain for the performance that you get. However, the Audi is, of course, put together better, will last longer, is faster in the real world, looks better and isn’t made of plastic. Plus, Corvettes have some of the worst seats in the business for being a sports car. Hell, my Subaru has sportier seats that that thing. In the end, the Vette blitzed the Audi around the track, even though it was damp as well. I can’t imagine how fast that thing would be if it had actually been dry.

In the third segment, the boys took a look at building their own electric car and posed the question, “How hard can it be?” turns out, it’s really hard. With Hammond on the chassis, May on the motors and Clarkson (the useless sod) on the body, their work all came together to create Geoff. It turned out to be a big box with a TVR chassis and two batteries for power. The top speed of Geoff was a paltry 10 mph and, as everyone should have seen coming, the boys got into trouble when they clogged up streets, caused slow downs on motorways and eventually left the car alone where it rolled down a hill and into a tree. But that wasn’t the end of the car. They came back in the second half of the segment and remade Geoff as the Thrust Eagle Hammerheadi… or something like that. Anyway, the basic car was exactly the same, with a new bumper and more batteries. They then took the car to the UK proving grounds and put it through its paces. They smashed it into a wall, put it in the side impact machine and performed a drag race with it against tough competition. The car, amazingly, passed all of the tests with flying colors and was given to the auto reviewers at Autocar so that they could test it. Turns out that it actually sucks.

Next week it sounds like they will be making rally cars or something and be figuring out which car company has made the greatest number of brilliant cars. Also, flying caravans; so stay tuned.

La F458 Italia, petite fille de la Modena, recrache en effet deux fois moins de CO2 que ses ancêtres, grâce à une amélioration sensible d’un nombre incalculable de petits paramètres techniques. Améliorations qui permettent au passage à la F458 d’être plus puissante et de bénéficier de 570ch, contrôlés par une boîte de vitesse à 7 rapports avec commandes au volant ambiance Formule 1.

Et si vous ne comprenez rien à tout ça, dites vous juste qu’elle est belle, qu’elle va très vite et qu’elle ne pollue pas beaucoup. Et qu’elle est donc très chère.

Perfect ride height on this one.

We think the R8 V10 (and its V8 “little” brother) is great, by the way. One might make the argument that its reputation has lost a bit of its luster as of late (in the face of stiff competition and an increasingly jaded and ADD audience), but we feel it deserves a vigorous defense. No, it’s not the F430 Scuderia, but quite frankly, we think that comparison is stupid- the latter car also costs nearly twice as much. We place a high premium on credibility here, and when you have race car drivers like Randy Pobst singing the R8’s praises, well- we’re convinced.

I just came across this Audi R8 in SoHo. At first I thought it was a shame for it to be on a flat bed. But then I noticed that its trademark sliver side wings had been painted body color. Looks like a custom job headed home. I like it!

Oh yes, our craze for our boys! As some of you may recall, Yoochun has a R8, which is the reason why fans go crazy seeing one!

Remember this?!

The following pics are taken by a fan when she saw a R8 (sadly not Yoochun’s…)!! From her account, it was a pretty emotional hyped up moment! Best part is, there were lots of other people taking pictures of it too!

I’m not sure how people will be able to control themselves on the road if they see him (or any member) driving!! I know my eyes will definitely not be focused on the road, I’d definitely wont be able to take my eyes off of him (or any of them)! … In that case, maybe I should stay off the road… Better yet, Yoochun (or any of the members) could drive for me!!!

Anyhow, sorry this isn’t news… But you can see how much Cassiopeians love these amazing boys!! Fans gather around a R8, taking pictures of it, fangirl about it… solely because Yoochun had one!!!

The sound of the Audi R8 V10 is simply breathtaking. Every clip I have seen until now confirms that this car packs one hell of a menacing growl. The video below sees the Audi on track and “singing in the rain”. Sinatra would be proud!

Après l’annonce de la R8 spyder, Audi a mis un autre gros coup de pression au Salon de Francfort en présentant l’e-tron, version non-officielle et électrique de la monstrueuse R8.

Et si vous pensez que voiture électrique veut forcément dire tacot qui avance au ralenti, détrompez vous: l’e-tron passe de 0 à 100km/h en 4,8 secondes grâce aux 313ch de ses 4 moteurs électriques. Avec une autonomie d’environ 250km, une pompe à chaleur en guise de clim et deux places dignes d’un vaisseau spatial, l’e-tron est une tuerie écologique qui devrait déculpabiliser les pollueurs les plus riches d’entre nous.

Reste que le nom de la voiture est quand même dur à assumer en France.

Комментарий Кларксона: Передние фонари напоминают о дешевых рождественских распродажах, но с водительского кресла у этой машины практически не видно

недостатков.

За: Для начала, у машины есть все, что ты смог бы захотеть от суперкара – разгон, мощность, управляемость. Но кроме этого, есть еще парочка таких вещей, которых от суперкара не ждут, например, комфортабельного салона и возможности повседневного использования.
Против : Опциональная полуавтоматическая коробка ведет себя не лучшим образом на низких скоростях и это, пожалуй, все. Тому, что содержание этой машины обходится дорого, а объем багажника не так уж велик, думаем, никто не удивится.
Вердикт: Делает все, что может потребоваться от суперкара и даже больше. Машина превосходно ездит, отлично выглядит, а сесть в нее – просто удовольствие, не говоря уж о вождении. Она полностью заслуживает самых высоких оценок.
Рейтинг для лучшей модификации: Отлично

Audi Car Configurator on Microsoft Surface

While Audi’s R8 electric turned heads at this year’s IAA, the tech-happy German brand also debuted its A4 Configurator. Using Microsoft Surface, the Configurator allows multiple users to create the A4 of their dreams in an immersive 3D environment. Simple hand gestures or motions allow the user to alter virtually anything on the A4, with instant results. Paint finish, wheel and tire packages, and interior color scheme are just some of the options that will be available for the user to manipulate. Whether or not Audi plans to take their tech partnership to local dealers remains unknown, but this will surely be a welcome change from the tired 100-page option booklets that luxury car manufacturers cling so fondly to.
