Late last night I was looking through Mod Cloth and found so many wonderful things so I need to put them all in a post so that they are no longer hundreds of open tabs on my browser! So here they are:

1. Hello Kitty Cutie Wallet – cutest wallet ever!, although knowing me it would get rather dirty in a matter of days in my handbag.

Two of the hamsters were fighting today so I had to separate them to individual cages. I got hamster blood on my hands, I was not impressed!

Myself and Ryan are off to Bluewater this evening, mostly to see Rick Stein and hopefully get a book signed in Waterstones, but also to do some shopping! I cant wait, it should be fun. I should actually be getting dressed but I’m eating left over pizza

I did these months ago and I finally took some pictures of them.  The antlers one is already in a new home, and the tribal rabbit mask has a new home…as soon as i deliver it.  The two grackle paintings are available (let me know if you’re interested!)  They make me feel patriotic.  I hope, one day, there will be a birdman on the presidential ballot.

You’ll need a humongous cage for this rabbit! Amy, at two feet eight inches from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail, the most gigantic rabbit in the world, sleeps in a dog kennel!

This humongous eater eats a bowl of rabbit food, two apples, several carrots, hay and half a cabbage a day! Woah!

Amy might have a huge appetite, but she’s a real picky eater. She won’t have her carrots without the stems.

Rabbit is a monumentally overlooked and cheap food.  Even in butchers’ shops, a whole rabbit (prepared) can usually be bought for a couple of quid or one can buy it ready cut up into chunks, although if you live anywhere near someone who goes shooting, I would recommend snuggling up to them and they will surely bag one for you.  The flavour is somewhere between chicken and pheasant and it’s very low in fat.  If you are using a whole rabbit, do just watch out for little bones, just as you would with any small game. Just for interest, the correct term for gutting a rabbit is ‘paunching’. 

Incidentally, don’t be afraid of dumplings.  They key to making them light is not to overwork them; use quick light movements, lifting the mixture into the air and they will be deliciously fluffy.  If you add dumplings, you don’t need potatoes as well (unless you move about more than I do). 

I wish to thank The Mad Hatter’s Wife for the scrumptious rabbit we ate tonight; so delicious was it that I forgot to photograph it before tucking in.

RABBIT STEW WITH HERB DUMPLINGS

Utensils:
1 x large casserole dish
1 x meat cleaver or large sharp knife
1 x chopping board
1 x vegetable peeler
1 x large mixing bowl
1 x mini chopper for making breadcrumbs

Ingredients for Rabbit Stew:
1 Rabbit – cut into 4 pieces (I would suggest back legs into 2, mid section and front)
2 pints (1 ¼ litres) chicken stock
½ pint (300ml) bitter beer
2 large carrots – chopped into big chunks
2 leeks – sliced
1 small or ½ large swede – peeled and chopped into cubes
1 large parsnip – peeled and chopped into chunks
1 heaped tblspn parsley
1 flat tblspn thyme
Plain flour for coating
2 tblspn oil for frying

Ingredients for dumplings:
4oz (120g) self raising flour
4oz (120g) fresh white breadcrumbs
4oz (120g) beef suet (can be substituted with vegetable suet)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon dried parsley or 2 tblespn fresh
1 tsp thyme (double it for fresh)
1 tsp sage (as above)

Method:
Heat the oil in the casserole dish
Coat the rabbit in the flour and brown quickly in the pan
Add the stock and the beer
Add the vegetables and herbs
Cover the casserole dish and cook on a low heat for 20 minutes

Meanwhile make the dumplings
Put the flour, breadcrumbs, suet and herbs into a bowl and mix thoroughly
Beat the eggs and pour into the flour mixture
Mix thoroughly but lightly with your hands, lifting the mixture into the air.  Don’t do this for long or the dumplings will be stodgy
Divide the mixture into four and then make four dumplings from each piece
After the stew has cooked for 20 minutes, put the dumplings on top and cook for a further half hour.
Serve.  I like to serve a nice dark green vegetable with it.  Savoy cabbage or Kale is particularly nice.

Frightened Rabbit  are a band who practice in bedrooms and record in kitchens and cupboards. They tour the Scottish lands in transit vans and perform their bewitching compositions in dingy pubs and clubs, nevertheless they are the forerunners of their league. This league is made up of many Scottish bands who have been becoming notably renowned over the last year or so. Other bands in this genre include: The Xcerts, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Twin Atlantic, Idlewild and Flood of Red to name a few.

In trying to find the best of Edinburgh’s music scene I had definitely come to the right place. The Picture House was packed; it was almost out the door with Edinburgh’s trendies, skinny jeans and cardigans (not that I can say anything). The atmosphere inside the scenic theatre hall was animated, it was almost as if the four men from Selkirk were teasing us with their absence, although it has to be said Idlewild did a great job of warming the crowd up with their sweeping, melodic Rock-pop.

As Frightened Rabbit showed up on stage, the crowd hit the roof, never before had I seen this kind of reaction at one of their gigs and with enough time spared to give the crowd a sweeping “hi”, Scott Hutchison kicks of the set with classic ‘Heads Roll Off”.  New song ‘Swim Until You Can’t See Land’ got a prodigious response and by the time they got to the final encore ‘Keep Yourself Warm’, fans seemed satisfied to the point of vomit by the nights’ electrifying and very Scottish music.

This is for Jonathan as he is super busy in work today and needs a dose of cuteness to destress him a bit ;p

Gosh, I don’t know if anyone else has blogged about these Umi Usagi eyes, but it doesn’t really matter. They’re after all about a week “old” or something.

I went to Umi Usagi in-world and grabbed their new groupgift and ran around the luckychairs which had my letter on two of them
Well, that’s how I realized that Umi Usagi has pretty eyes…

Memilih kelinci peliharaan memang gampang-gampang susah. Tentu sangat berbeda bagi yang sudah berpengalaman, bagi pemula memilih kelinci sehat sangat susah. Dan yang paling sering terjadi berujung pada rasa patah hati karena kehilangan hewan kesayangan.

Bila memilih kelinci, amatilah beberapa hal sederhana yang dapat membantu memastikan bahwa hewan peliharaan baru Anda tersebut sehat. Berikut 10 hal sederhana yang perlu dijadikan panduan:

1. Lihat kondisi tubuh secara keseluruhan – seharusnya kelinci tidak gemuk maupun kurus, juga tanpa menderita pembengkakan.
2. Mantel kelinci harus rapi, tanpa gundul tambal sulam. Periksa yang mengotori bagian belakang, karena hal ini dapat menunjukkan adanya masalah dengan diare.
3. Lihat di telinga, harusnya berwarna merah jambu, bukan merah, dan bebas dari kotoran. Daun telinga tidak boleh rusak.
4. Mata harus terang dan bebas dari kotoran. Periksa mantel di sekitar mata untuk tanda-tanda noda basah atau robek.
5. Periksa hidung – itu juga harus bebas dari kotoran.

6. Cobalah untuk melihat gigi, mereka tidak boleh rimbun dan harus baik-rata. Juga memeriksa basah atau kusut bulu di dagu.
7. Amati pernapasan kelinci, yang harus tenang dan tidak berat.
8. Amati kelinci saat bergerak berkeliling – seharusnya tidak memiliki tanda-tanda lumpuh, kaku, atau keengganan untuk bergerak.
9. Lihat sekitar kelinci. Kelinci yang dipelihara dalam kondisi bersih dan tak berdesakan akan memiliki ketahanan terpapar stres dan penyakit.
10. Perhatikan bagaimana kelinci bereaksi terhadap orang – idealnya memilih kelinci yang relatif tenang saat didekati dan dielus

Tips:
Adalah bijaksana untuk menahan keinginan mengadopsi kelinci yang sakit-sakitan kecuali siap untuk kemungkinan pengobatan yang mahal dan kemungkinan patah hati.

Ketika membeli dari peternak, pastikan mereka adalah peternakan yang baik/ untuk tujuan tertentu.

Yes!

As of yesterday Copper the Rabbit was rescued from the Tacoma Humane Society by the Rabbit Haven of Gig Harbor. After garnering world-wide attention with the much criticized ”almost-execution” controversy, Copper the Rabbit has found a new and permanent home safe from any danger. He is currently resting up and settling in with his new bunny family.
