They say someone somewhere is made for you, this is one of the most useless statements ever made and the people fall for it so easily. They start dreaming about that perfect someone who has been made only for them. Breaking news people there’s no one anywhere who is made for you, only you are made for you.

Now lets further examine this statement, it’s so ambiguous someone somewhere so technically it could be anyone, it could be a 90 year old man in an african village or a new born baby in argentina. How do we just assume that the statement refers to a person of  the opposite sex who lives in your town or city and is also around your age?? The perfect person for you could be your grandmother or grandfather or a niece/nephew.

Not only do we assume the things just mentioned but we also assume that this someone is going to be from the same caste, community, race, religion, etc. This brings me to the bigger question aren’t we all just bigots in this country?

I still remember the huge hue and cry that the media and public made when the aussies called harbhajan singh a racist, all of us became defensive saying we are not racists, how can people hailing from the land of the Mahatma be racist? Well it’s time to take a look in the mirror India is one of the most racist countries in the world. We discriminate on every possible level whether its religion, caste, region, sex, etc. 

How many inter caste or inter religion marriages do we see in this country?? Lets move out of the big cities and into the smaller ones , there are a million cases of honour killings that go on but the police don’t do anything cause even they believe that one should not look for love outside of ones caste. I’ve read of reports in UP and Bihar where villages have gone to war cause a son from one and daughter from another have run away together. In Gujarat a landlord stripped the boys family and made them walk naked in the entire village cause their son had runaway with his daughter.

Lets come back into the cities, I know of so many people who try to show they are modern or open minded but when it comes down to their own children falling in love with someone outside their caste or religion all hell breaks loose. No marrying a muslim, no marrying a south indian, no marrying a hindu, no marrying a christian when are we going to stop this and treat everyone like human beings. We are all the same .

What has love got to do with caste, religion, sex, race, fairness, age????? If only we move past all our superficial differences and actually see that we are all the same the world will become a much better place.

I just did the exact same search i did yesterday – turns out Google has done our nation a favor – and managed to bump down the picture.  either that, or somehow the world has been convinced to click on different pictures of michelle – thus pushing those pictures’ relavance up – and thus sending the sad, racist picture down the trail to second/third page google oblivion.  let’s keep our fingers crossed…

A friend of mine commented on this loser guys video on Youtube; where this guys fat loser friends are doing MMA and backyard fighting and shit, litterally my friend wrote “ you guys blow, my sister could take you all down“.

All of a sudden this guy, who btw is a big, fat ugly immigrante from mexico or something, goes all bananas and writes these long derogatory comments to my friend, with sexist slurs and mocking his martial arts, calling him a ballerina, among many things.

And what are these proposed solutions, Mr. Dobbs? There’s already one on the table called Comprehensive Immigration Reform, a tough but fair bipartisan compromise in the works that will increase interior enforcement, streamline the immigration system, require otherwise law abiding undocumented immigrants to register and become legalized, and protect the border.

Lou Dobbs should know that he is viewed by the Latino and immigrant community much like Bull Connor and  Joe McCarthy — men who have led witch hunts whipping up frenzy and hate in the process.  These men are also now considered pariahs of history.  If Lou Dobbs has had a genuine change of heart, the Latino and immigrant communities will welcome it.

As a teenager I went through intensive etiquette training.  I studied deportment and manners.  I was schooled in elegance and posture.  I learned how to properly fold my napkin across my lap at supper.  I learned how to sit with feet crossed delicately at the ankles.  I learned how to speak.  I learned how to walk—glide, rather.  I even learned things like order of precedence (a fancy way of setting the table according to one’s rank).  I can throw large dinner parties.  I can wrap gifts.  I know how to write thank-you notes.  I even know how to smile and nod when someone says something I disagree with.  I also learned other useless things like flower pressing and paper folding—these old school activities of young ladies of dignity and quality. 

The training was intricate but very useful.  Someone once remarked that I am now qualified for embassy work, but I like to brag that I could properly entertain the Queen of England with all the necessary protocol.  I’m grateful to have jumped through such hoops in addition to my basic education.  It’s made me a more well-rounded person.  Of course, the Army undid a lot of that training because I still swear like a sailor and pass gas without a thought.  At any rate, what I’m trying to tell you is that I know which fork to use when dining in an upscale restaurant.  I’m not a backwards corn-fed hillbilly scooping my peas off my knife with my elbows on the table. 

This weekend, my friends and I took ourselves out for a lavish outing in New York.  We glammed around in limousines, dropped $400 on a VIP section and shopped like there were no bills to pay.  It was all for my friend’s 25^th birthday extravaganza.  For her luxe dinner, we ate at Smith & Wollensky’s Grill.  It’s a rather nice restaurant serving top quality steaks and chops, perhaps on the same scale or better as Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.  Just so you know it ain’t TGIFriday’s.

We arrived to the restaurant in a limousine, not necessarily out of showboating purposes, but of necessity because there were eight of us and we couldn’t fit in a cab and who would take the subway dressed to the nines in cocktail dresses and high heels? 

While waiting for our table to be set, we lounged at the bar and I noticed that we were getting some very obvious stares from other patrons.  My friend Ceciley really killed it in her bright red cocktail dress and stiletto pumps.  She’s a makeup artist so her makeup was exquisite.  She is a confident black woman in charge of herself and it is very obvious that she could really care less about what others think of her.  These two white women were really in her face.  I think they were impressed but didn’t want to admit it.  They were foreign, but I couldn’t hear them entirely so I’m not sure where they were from.

They had other looks for the rest of the party.  Derisive, condescending looks were thrown at certain women in the group, probably because of the way they were dressed.  I’m not here to bash anybody’s mode of attire because I feel that people are going to wear what they want to wear, but it was disappointing to be looked at like we just came up from the fields for our evening rations.

I noticed almost immediately that we were the only black people—check that, people of colour in the entire restaurant.  There were two Asian women, but they were the white American type of Asian, not Chung Lee Asian.  I would imagine their names were something like Victoria Lee and Nancy Kwan.  That’s usually how it works.  There weren’t any black people, no Hispanics, no dark-skinned Eastern Europeans, damn sure no Middle Eastern folk. 

Not only was the crowd white, but they were like Grand Ole Party, old money, silver spoon in the mouth, daddy sails in the Saint Bart’s regatta every year, while mommy goes to the spa in Switzerland type of white.  I bet all their forefathers came over on the Mayflower and the rest of their ancestors fought with William the Conqueror in 1066.  That’s how white they were.

A group of yuppies at the table next to us kept staring.  Alan Greenspan (hahah) sat behind us and I think he needed an exorcist because his head turned a full 360 every five minutes so he could gawk at this group of black women out for a night of cabernet sauvignon and lamb chops. 

I’ve written before that I’m always embarrassed to be seen in a large group of black people because I’m always painfully aware of how I’m perceived.  Despite years of etiquette schooling, who could tell in such a large group.  Why do I care that these toffee-nosed bigots think poorly of me?  Why do I even stress?

Maybe because it makes me depressed to think that after all these years, here we are in the grand year of 2009, and people still can’t get over the fact that some black people really have earned their place in society.  We could afford our meal.  We would not have sat down to dine if we had any thought that we would not be able to settle the $700 bill that showed up five minutes after our desserts.  Most of us knew the difference between a ribeye and filet mignon.  Ceciley, our wine connoisseur, knew that red wine went best with steaks.  Most of us are sophisticated.  Damn it, I know which fork to use.  I know where to put my bread knife.  I know how to hold a Bordeaux glass. 

I felt like the waiter thought it was somehow beneath him to wait on black women.  His manner was, of course, professional, but he was very curt as if he had something better to do, like pick the lint from his belly button. 

I think it’s important how we present ourselves to society.  I’m always very conscious of presentation.  I believe that we should be who we want to be, but we must be prepared for the consequences.  If you want to look backwards and urban, by all means, please do so, but you will never fit in white society.  Some of us say to ourselves that we shouldn’t have to “fit in,” and perhaps you might be right, but unfortunately, the world is the way the world is.  If it’s going to change, we have to perpetuate that change.  Instead of setting ourselves apart, we need to step in and take over.  By this I mean we should assimilate and take on their characteristics and then make it our own. 

Many black people dub this “crossing over,” “selling out,” or whatever else other term, but I don’t see it that way at all.  If I want to eat in Smith & Wollenksy’s every night of the week, I could, but I don’t the Talbots and the Mulroneys staring at me like I’m one of the Browns (from Meet the Browns.)  As long as I can pay the bill, I have the right to be there just as anybody else, but what a lot of black people don’t seem to understand is that we don’t represent ourselves as if we could be high class.

Even if we were white skinned, we wouldn’t be acceptable because it’s our manner and presentation.  That is the point I’m trying to make.

We all know jokes about crooked lawyers. But there is nothing funny about our illegal attorney-general, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Least funny is the way his actions are driven by his pathological antagonism towards Fiji indigenous institutions, demonstrated most recently by his Regulation of National Spectrum Decree.

We’ll get to the background of Aiyaz’s racist attitudes, but first let’s examine the frightening ramifications of the illegal attorney-general’s latest move.

In a nutshell, the new Decree gives Aiyaz the power to strip the licenses of broadcasters, potentially costing investors millions of dollars if their companies are de-licensed.

Khaiyum has made no secret of his distaste for our dominant television broadcaster, Fiji TV, which is owned by Yasana Holdings, representing the 14 ethnic Fijian provinces.

 Together with his younger brother, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, head of the government-owned FBCL (Radio Fiji), Aiyaz has been plotting for months to set up a rival pro-regime television station.

Now the National Spectrum Decree provides the means to do that effortlessly and Fiji TV, which also owns the monopoly Papua New Guinea TV broadcaster EMTV, is a sitting duck.

Under the provisions of the Decree it would require only the stroke of a pen for the Khaiyum brothers to re-allocate or demand a share of Fiji TV’s frequencies in order to put their new television station to air.

There would be no need for investment in transmission towers or reception antennas. Under the Decree it’s all there for the taking.

And under the provisions of Aiyaz’s Decree the management of Fiji could face up to five years jail if they refuse to cooperate in the hijacking of their broadcasting facilities, which represent millions of dollars worth of honest investment.

In any other society such a blatantly corrupt act would be theft, pure and simple. But under the latest dodgy decree hastily concocted by Aiyaz it’s all within the law!

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has certainly come a long way in a short time. When he jumped onto Bainimarama’s bandwagon following the armed coup, he was a relative nobody.

His main claims to fame were his legal qualifications and his well known antipathy for traditional Fijian cultural values. In particular, he had long had his sights set on dismantling the chiefly system, which lies at the very core of those values.

This is what he proposed in his university thesis in Hong in 2002 when setting out his case to dismantle the Bose Levu Vakaturaga (Great Council of Chiefs):

“. . . The Chiefly system must go. Cultural autonomy must have a sunset clause .. . ”

 The sons of long-time NFP politician, Sayed Abdul Khaiyum, Aiyaz and Riyaz have each done well very out of the coup and the Bainimarama dictatorship.

Two years ago, and despite having no business experience, Riyaz, a former Fiji TV journalist, was suddenly elevated by the regime to the position of CEO of Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.

But not everyone in the dictatorship thinks the sun shines out of the Sayed-Khaiyum brothers, notably the majority of senior RFMF officers that make up the Military Council that was established by the dictator immediately after the coup.

As well as privately deploring the way in which Aiyaz has used the coup to build his illicit powerbase, they are especially sensitive to Aiyaz’s racist attitudes towards ethnic Fijians.

Given that the RFMF is nearly 99 percent composed of ethnic Fijians, the military’s hostile suspicion of the brash and vain young Aiyaz hardly comes as a surprise.

But Aiyaz has never had much time for the military, either. As he wrote in his thesis for his Hong Kong law degree in 2002 when analyzing the 2000 (Speight) coup:

 “…a a rescue of the prime minister and cabinet by the Fiji Military Forces, which prides itself in its military prowess, was an obvious and relatively easy task. However this was not to be. The ineptitude, inertia and reluctance displayed by the military in the first few weeks of the crisis allowed the kidnappers a free hand…”

 Well, the Military Council certainly didn’t display “‘ineptitude, inertia and reluctance” in demanding the dictator sack his then interim Minister for Finance, Mahendra Chaudhry.

But does the Military Council have the balls to insist the dictator deals similarly with the out-of-control illegal attorney-general?

This decree does not as yet appear on the Fiji Govt website. Perhaps this is not surprising. How will it affect the other parts of the radio spectrum – Emergency services frequencies, VHF Marine bands, HF Marine bands, Amateur Radio bands and so on. If the excuse for revoking the broadcast licences is the necessity for an overhaul of the radio spectrum surely such an overhaul should not be limited to broadcast bands. If so that is clearly a move to stop broadcasting stations operating. On the other hand, if such an overhaul affects all means of communication it is an even more serious issue

The news team for Telemundo 52 recently reported on Alma Minerva Chacon, a women who was terrorized by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Unfortunately, she is just the latest in a long line of Latinos who have suffered at the hands of the ruthless Sheriff whose personal goal is to rid Arizona of all “illegals” and just maybe, all Latinos. Arpaio has repeatedly stated that he is breaking no laws and just enforcing the constitution by arresting more than 600 Latinos a year. But the problem with his tactics is that less than half of those arrested are even in this country illegally.

The most recent atrocity committed by the self-proclaimed “America’s Toughest Sheriff” involves a woman who was detained while 9-months pregnant. Alma Minerva Chacon’s case has been receiving media attention due to the brutality with which she was treated. The very same night of her arrest, Chacon went into labor and found herself afraid and alone, being rushed to a local hospital with her hands and legs chained in shackles.

Once she reached the hospital, nurses repeatedly begged the Sheriff’s staff to allow them to unchain the mother, but they refused and Chacon was forced to give birth while still shackled to the bed. At one point, the nurse asked for them to release her so that she could be escorted to the bathroom for a urinalysis, but even that request was denied. But the worst came once Chacon gave birth to her baby girl.

Still chained to the bed, Arpaio’s police staff refused to allow Chacon to hold her newborn baby and then warned her that if no one came to pick up the child within 72 hours, she would be turned over into state custody. Telemundo 52 sat down with Chacon and let her tell her side of the story.             Nearly one dozen cowards in white, and other various hued, sheets defiantly protested on the steps of Fulton Chapel which is located on the campus of the University of Mississippi.

The belligerent bigots met briefly before the Ole Miss Rebels waged a gridiron battle against their overpowering opposition in the 10^th ranked LSU Tigers, a savvy move that guaranteed that the racist Neanderthals would receive plenty of press attention.

What was the hoopla all about? None other than “Dixie,” the classic southern battle chant that has been a source of white-southern pride since before the infamous “War Between The States,” of which members of the Mississippi’s White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has been waging a very low key but public war to protect.

University officials moved to ban the song from football games after hearing the fans refused to abandon singing or reciting the tune’s racially tinged ending, “the South will rise again.”

Around 250 anti-Klan protestors were on hand to show support. The move was made to unify everyone on campus by placing relics of its intolerant past firmly in the past which would allow the university, to this day known for its racist climate, to work toward a future brightened by equality.

Protesting members of the Klan report that they were protesting to decry the lost Southern symbolism that once embodied everything that used to be Ole Miss.

Oh sure, maybe on its face “President or jihad?” doesn’t make sense as a question. “How can a person even be a jihad?” you may ask.

But the important point is that a very wise and courageous man in Colorado is actually (and finally) raising that very query. Perhaps not surprisingly, he’s a car salesman. Also not surprisingly, he’s an uninformed bigot and a birther.

Here’s the scoop from the Centennial State:

Since Fort Hood, I’ve had it,” owner Phil West told FOX 31 News Friday. “You can’t suggest things. You can’t profile. You gotta call a spade a spade.”

“Everything I have read about Mr. Obama points right to the fact that he is a Muslim.”

Ohmygod. First of all, really, this shit again? Secondly, NOT THAT HE IS, but so what if Barack Obama were a Muslim? Did we miss a clause in Article II of the Constitution that precludes followers of Muhammad from being president? Third, what the hell does Fort Hood have to do with Obama? Was Obama the radical cleric Maj. Nidal Hasan had been talking to?

Oh wait, Mr. West wasn’t done talking…

And that is the agenda of what Muslim is all about. It’s about anti-American, it’s about anti-Christianity,” West said.

How can we take this guy seriously? Somehow he’s supposed to be a legal, Constitutional and religious expert, but he can’t even master subject-verb agreement or figure out that a person can’t actually be a holy war.

Yeah, so I kept up the, like, promise. Um, I’m writing or, like, typing late-ish ’cause, like, it was like the Holy Sabbath and stuff. I don’t want to sound like, um, a religious freak, or whatever. I just don’t do that kind of thing, like violate Sabbath and stuff. I’m just saying it’s kind of hard to, like, type how I write and stuff. So um, I enjoy cracking my knuckles. I think it really relieves me of the normal stress that I, like, have. This is, like, kind of hurting my back and stuff. If people think I’m, like, revealing too much about myself like my name and religion. Well, those people are, like, idiotic stupid-heads and whatever ’cause one: this isn’t ,my real, like name and two: no one cares about religion except for, like, racist people. So… Oh Emfrea Kingjee!

How fast will the Secret Service or FBI get to Wheat Ridge, Colorado to investigate? Will Phil Wolf be sharing a cell with Dr. Manning? Will car sales go up, stay the same, or plummet? Is this a sign of the deep discontent within the US, or it is a sign of suspicions that Obama isn’t who he says he is? What do you think the message is from looking at the sign? Is Mr. Wolf expressing his right to Freedom of Speech?

Moveon.org and Progressnow, liberal vitriolic hate spreaders, are the ones that are setting up a boycott against Mr. Wolf’s dealerships. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Liberal Groups Call Billboard Racist, Plan Boycott

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — A billboard showing President Barack Obama wearing a turban has sparked a lot of attention at the Wheat Ridge used car dealership that put it up

The billboard shows a cartoonish Obama grinning, wearing a turban and says, “PRESIDENT or JIHAD?”

Underneath the president’s image is a big yellow square with the phrase, “BIRTH CERTIFICATE” in red letters and then “PROVE IT!”

“WAKE UP AMERICA! REMEMBER FT. HOOD!” appear on the bottom. The ad belongs to the Wolf Automotive car dealership and is visible from Interstate 70.

Dealership owner Phil Wolf said putting the sign up was an act of patriotism.

“I’m just passionate about America,” said Wolf, a member of the “birther” movement, which questions Mr. Obama’s birth place. “I’m asking a question,” he added. “What is he? I don’t think he’s an American, so what is he?”

Wolf said he does not believe the billboard is racist, but conservatives and liberals are calling for Wolf to take the sign down.

The left-leaning advocacy group MoveOn.org and ProgressNow Colorado called the billboard racist and vowed to boycott businesses owned by Wolf Automotive Group until the billboard is removed.

The Wolf Automotive Group has four dealerships located in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
