I got hired to paint the front window of a store in Düsseldorf. So I decided to give one big word of encouragement to the would-be shoppers for the holiday season.

But then some punk came and wrote Your Brain to make the piece ironic and intelligent. Not sure if it hurts it or helps it…

The premium two-tone Thule 611 Boxter combines European-inspired design with a stronger, more convenient box structure. The Thule 611 Boxter gives you the perfect combination of unique style, tremendous durability, and unsurpassed performance.

A personal favourite of mine, this box is designed in a way that allows a massive 18 cubic feet of storage space without looking like you’ve just added a second story to your vehicle. The strong solid base is recessed to help the box sit lower on your crossbars and with the quick grip mounting system allows easy, fast installation to almost any roof rack.

The Thule 91726 Pull Top Ski and Snowboard rack is the only ski carrier that allows you to load and unload your ski equipment off the side of your vehicle. Nobody likes to have to lean against their dirty car to get that last pair of skis or snowboards, dirtying up that nice jacket. With this carrier you don’t have to, pop open the rack, flip the lever and slide the ski carrier out, load up the skis or snowboards, slide it back and you’re ready to go. It is also fantastic for those larger SUV’s where the height of the vehicle makes it a challenge to get onto the roof. It doesn’t matter if you are 5 foot or 6 foot, this ski carrier will make your mountain experience all that much better. The Thule 91726 Pull Top Ski and Snowboard rack comes with universal mounting hardware, it will attach directly to almost any factory crossbar or yakima or thule bars right out of the box. It has capacity to carry up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards, or a combination of both. Check out the video below and see just how easy the Pull Top really is.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QU0863NH

Baixe enquanto continua lendo…

Novamente olhe e digite no espaço.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd9aHQKO-EQ&feature=related

http://wallkernews.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/farmville.jpg

Até!

Sorry folks, I’m a little late on this one, as the brand new 4Runner is now technically a pres

Sorry folks, I’m a little late on this one, as the brand new 4Runner is now technically a present day vehicle. Anyhow, we still need to take a look at the truck to see what we are up against.

2010 Toyota 4Runner with factory racks

As with most truck redesigns these days, the new 4Runner has continued to get larger, more powerful, and more capable. On the flip side, we have noticed that factory racks are going in the opposite direction…shorter, less adjustable, and with less capacity. The good news, however, is that Thule, Yakima, and Rack Attack will surely come up with some good gear-carrying solutions.

Officially, Thule has announced that their 450 and 450R system are applicable fits on the ‘10 4Runner. To span the wide truck, you’ll need a minimum of 58″ and 53″ bars, respectively. And of course, we always recommend a 544 4-pack of locks to keep the racks from disappearing.

Now for speculation mode…while Yakima has not published a fit for this truck yet, it is very likely to be the Railgrab (of course, I’ll update the post when it becomes official). The Railgrab is their standard tower for vehicles with raised side rails, and the ones on the 4Runner do not look too unusual.

My concern with either the Thule or Yakima fit on this truck is that the racks will be set quite far aft. Looking at the picture above, it appears that the front crossbar will be near the midpoint of the rear door’s window…which ultimately is about at the midpoint of the entire roofline. Placing the rear bar at its rearmost position might yield a 36″ bar spread. This may be an issue for owners who wish to a) use a mid- or large-size cargo box or b) carry long loads like canoes, kayaks, lumber, or Christmas trees. We continue to try and gain influence with the automakers to make their side rails go further forward (to increase factory rack versatility), but in the meantime if you do need a crossbar further forward, give us a call about installing a Yakima Landing Pad 7 or a Thule TK14 up over the front door.

Let’s shift gears and pretend that you bought a 2010 4Runner without a factory rack, like in the photo below.

2010 Toyota 4Runner without factory racks

This is the type of blank canvas that we love around here. With a ‘naked roof’ 4Runner, you are about to rack out the truck with the absolute most versatile and easy to use system available–tracks. We’ve installed tracks on just about every vehicle out there, and we are anxiously awaiting the first ‘10 4Runner owner to come on in and have us track it out. Once it has been done, of course I will upload some pictures, but for the time being, below is a Toyota Highlander with 3 (three!) crossbars on Yakima tracks.

And of course, there is always the more basic option of fixed position bars, like the Yakima Landing Pad setup we have on the ‘07 4Runner in the next picture.

Of course, don’t hesitate to give us a call, whether you’ve already bought the new 4Runner, or you are still shopping!

-Scott

After being poorly (I feel a lot better more of the time now) I have had the urge to clean the house meticulously and start creating decorations and presents for Christmas. I am rather excited about Christmas this year; I am never really over-the-top excited about it, but this Christmas will be the first in our new house! I put the tree up last night… a lot of people have said that it is far too early, but my family is coming to celebrate Christmas a week early, so why cant I put the tree up a week early!? It is just inspiration standing in the corner now, I cant wait to start putting presents under it.

Yesterday Ryan came home with a new frying pan, which was on sale in Debenhams:

So this led me on to looking at all the kitchenware that Debenhams sell… There are quite a few things that I love, which I am sure you can get elsewhere too, just they are all bundled together in one shop! Here are my selections:

1. Dark grey Roast ‘n Rack by Maxim – I love making roast dinners so much, but I still dont really have the roasting trays for all the ingredients.

2. Cream plate with glass dome lid – I just love the aesthetic of having this in the kitchen with cakes under it!

3. Teal rectangular stoneware dish by Le Creuset – maybe for pasta bakes

4. Cream stove kettle by Prestige – I adore the lines and the shapes that make up these retro-style kettles. I even love the fact you have to put it on the stove, so amazing! There are some of the same/similar style that are electric, but its not really the same thing is it. We also need an upgrade from the £6 kettle I bought a few years ago from Woolworths haha!

5. Azure cast iron casserole dish By Le Creuset – for casseroles of course. Winter is drawing in and I am always a sucker for homemade comfort food. For some reason all the Le Creuset items I have picked here bar one are in blue; I actually like all and any of the colours in the range that they make.

6. Ken Hom 5 piece Wok set by Tao – because I dont have a wok, and I really feel like trying to make stir fry and chinese style chicken.

7. Teal cast iron 26cm square grillit by Le Creuset – because it would make amazing steaks, and you can pour out the juices from the pan afterwards… mmmmm!

8. Spring form cake pan by Kitchen Craft – because I have none!

9. Volcanic regular cast iron grill by Le Creuset – I believe you can either put this in the oven, or as a hot plate on the stove… I love that idea.

10. 5 piece stainless steel set by Prestige – because all of my pans are leaving black flakes in my pasta yuk! Not necessarily this set, but something similar that wont ruin my food.

11. Blue Icona 4 slice toaster by De Longhi – so yummy looking! And blue again… why!?? We need an upgrade from the £5 toaster from Woolworths I bought 3 years ago…

12. 14cm microwave saucepan – when I saw this I thought of Ryan. He always eats beans, and always cooks them in Tupperware pots without handles or spouts, and it looks like a very awkward process to try not to burn your fingers, so this could be ideal!

13. Assam teapot by Bodum – I am never any good at judging how long to leave teabags to steep in the water before pouring, and it either comes out too weak or too strong. So… if I can see what is going on inside the pot I will be ok! It also has a plunger to stop the process when it is right for you, and you can use teabags or leaves and it works!

14. Cream food mixer by KitchenAid – how gorgeous is this machine! We have one in the kitchen at the bar that I work at, I might see if they will sell it to me as it is not really in use.

.

I am also in the process of designing some quilted Christmas stockings for myself and Ryan, to hang on the wall (where the mantel should be if the house still had one), some knitted presents for my grandparents, maybe some other presents too, and some decorations for the house! I am thinking garlands, and wreaths, and paper chains of course.

Ryan is dying my hair for me tonight, so if I think I look semi-unpoorly afterwards I shall take a photo and paste it to the end of this blog.

[Edit - photo!!!]

Jenn xx

P.S I am now down to 4 hamsters… It seems to be a sad time in Hamsterville. I have not changed anything about their living conditions… maybe it is just that time of year Rest in peace crazy dude who bit me really hard…

Our Rack Experts will be able to assist you through your entire rack buying experience. From explaining each option available for your vehicle, Installation services and or Tips for the “do-it-yourself-er”, as well as maintenance and upkeep tips. At our 4 US locations we offer a wide range of installation services which include custom permanent applications on vehicles where other options would either not exist, or would not provide the most flexibility in terms of accessories, highest weight rating, and the widest spread between the front and back cross-bars.

For today’s showcase install we have chosen an application for any Nissan Cube. For this application the customer wanted to mount the most secure and most convenient system possible on his Cube, while not having to deal with the time comparably time consuming removal and installation fount with systems that mount to the factory mounting points.

The best, and most flexible solution, in terms of accessory application, bar spread, and convenience in installation and removal, is a permanently installed set of Thule or Yakima Tracks that will allow the mounting of a 430 Tracker II foot pack system. For this application the customer opted to go with the Yakima 54 inch tracks, which is designed Specifically for Sheet Metal Roofs. Which in turn allows the mounting of most every Thule or Yakima accessory, such as Roof Top Bike carriers, Ski carriers, Water-sport carriers, as well as cargo bags, baskets and Cargo Boxes, and it is removable in seconds.

I saw these circular bike racks and knew there must be a photo in there somewhere. I tried a variety of angles, directions, and lens lengths. This was the one I liked the most.

The one thing about half rack units, ESPECIALLY the Boss units, is the big honkin transformer they use. The SE-70’s transformer is huge. The VF-1’s transformer is svelte only in comparison to the SE-70’s. At least it’s not a wall wart.

So out of the rack there’s 8 power cables to deal with, plus the synth and Ground Control plugs, and no matter how you try to organize them, or at least how I’ve tried to organize them, they end up being a biiig mess, like dumping a pot of spaghetti on the floor.

Couldn’t find anyone who really dealt with the issue aside from a few pros who have 16-U racks on casters that are deep enough to put all the power somewhere within the rack, so I came up with a solution.

I had a Middle Atlantic universal shelf that would not sell (!) so out came the velcro strips.

Then a regular power strip with room for wall warts was employed, and velcro attached to the bottom of it and the aforementioned transformers.

Finally, everything was routed relatively cleanly into the rack. Great. Now 2.5 rack spaces are taken up by the plugs, though at least everything is off the floor and hooked up permanently. Take the rack and go!

I’m still considering the idea of building a separate box and putting all the wiring in it, for a couple of reasons – it’s a little silly to sacrifice half of a six-space rack for power cables, and having all those transformers located under electronics will probably cause interference.

The whitetail rut this year has been what I would consider a trickle rut. Some days it’s intense, while other days are so subdued that it seems more like early season hunting. A warmer than normal November in the mid-west along with a ton of standing corn has left a lot of hunters wondering when they’re going to witness the intensity we all wait to see each fall. With that being said, I personally think the second estrus in mid-December may be the best time to kill a big buck this year…but fortunately I won’t have to worry about it, at least in Missouri.

On a hunt that started just over a month ago, I returned back to the headquarters of Hazel Creek with cameraman Jeff Schuster and five days to lay down a mature northern MO whitetail for the sophomore release of the Bringin’ it Home DVD Series. Cally and Annetta have definitely become good friends through almost three years of production work on multiple projects. They were kind enough to open their doors to the Rack Focus crew this year and give me an opportunity to hunt on some of the best ground I’d ever seen.

What was somewhat odd about getting up on stand was the fact that we had seen so many critters fall on this very ground while we worked on Volume One of the series. It would be like watching the Yankees on TV your entire life and then going to a game and having the opportunity to take batting practice on the hallowed ground you’ve seen all of the Yankee legends play. It was pretty cool to say the least.

I had been waiting very patiently for Cally to connect on an Iowa buck before he gave us the green light to come down…did I mention I was waiting very patiently yet? Well, the call came through on Sunday that he had finally shot a giant mid-150’s 8 point and our hunt would begin on Monday evening.

When we arrived, we took a look at some of the recent trail camera pics and identified a few of the young deer we wanted to let walk, we then got our gear together, jumped on the Hunt-V and headed to the field, it was just that easy.

Over the first few days we had several encounters with some great young deer, one encounter with a five year old mid-150’s 10 point that I called in twice off a hot doe with a tending grunt and a snort-wheeze. He came in to 53 yards and gave us a show, making a scrape and working over some small trees, just looking for his opponent. If we had one of Cally’s full-body decoys it would have been all but over. I thought he would come closer but he decided to go after his woman. I would second-guess not letting one fly at fifty…until the Hazel Creek Club decided to make an appearance on the night of day four.

On an overcast evening, Jeff and I got on stand by about 2pm after a long morning sit. We both had a great feeling about this stand, the wind was perfect and we had a bean field that was the main attraction for a lot of Booners over the years. After a few establishing shots and only 25 minutes on stand…we saw him. From the five minutes we had him in the zone, he was working over trees the entire time. I came to full draw and let down twice with number three sealing his fate. He was a buck we knew well and had identified as an old buck we wanted to take if we could. He had a right side of over 60 inches, but his left was nothing but a beam that split and a kicked back brow tine. He was a really unique buck that stuck out as soon as we saw him.

The shot was true, with the Maniac Expandable blowing out both lungs at 18 yards. He jumped a 25-foot section of the creek in one bound and crashed nose first in the bean field. The footage was phenomenal and we had our Missouri buck expired 80 yards away in the beans. I can’t thank Cally and Annetta enough for giving me a chance to come down and hunt the ground they put so much sweat into every year. I also want to thank Jeff for laying down on video one of my most memorable hunts to date, great job! I’m looking forward to many more great times with the Hazel Creek crew in years to come.

One of the really great things that Rails has done is provided us with script/console. This is such a handy utility and it works really well.

It’s no secret what I think of rack, but still, I’ll say it again. I think Rack is awesome, and although the spec is simple, when we conform to the spec we get new things from out of left field Enter (from field left) racksh This is pure gold IMHO. Install in the usual way:

$ gem install racksh

If we go back to the app we built up in my last post lets see how we can get a console for it.

∴ racksh
~ Loading Development Environment
Rack::Shell v0.9.4 started in development environment.
>>

See the awesomeness of rack there? Racksh does a very nice job at providing a console to all rack applications who follow the spec and also provide a config.ru file. Also, since it’s an awesome tool, it makes your fully stacked up application available at
$rack
including goodness from Rack::Test so you get a whole bunch of methods for free Lets try a few out.

∴ racksh
~ Loading Development Environment
Rack::Shell v0.9.4 started in development environment.
>> WagyuBlog::BlogEntry.all
=> [#]
>> VegetableBlog::BlogEntry.all
=> [#]
>> response = $rack.get("/wagyu")
# snip response
>> response.status
=> 200
>>

I’d suggest everyone checkout the docs and readme for both Racksh and Rack::Test to see what you can do with these great tools, and try them out. Use them with such frameworks as Sinatra, Rango, Pancake and many others

A ski rack on the roof is a great way to free up some space from inside you vehicle. Save your passengers and yourself the hassle and time of trying to jam pairs of skis in a car, then sitting comfortably around them. The Yakima fresh sesh is a new take at the traditional ski rack. The Fresh Sesh has a all white paint job which looks very sharp. You can leave the rack just the way it comes out of the box or attach one of the two included sticker sets urban camo or pink floral print to make your ski rack stand out. The Yakima Fresh Sesh comes in a 6 pair ski, or 4 snowboard version only. It comes with locks, and all the mounting hardware needed to mount to most factory roof racks (call or check out the online fit guide to make sure) The rack includes skis lifts which tilts the rear side of the rack up, to give you extra binding clearance between your snow equipment and your roof. Another Great option from Yakima to carry your skis.

Rack attack is also a full service hitch installer in addition to roof racks. We install light duty hitches on cars, vans, and pick ups. Most of our installations are done for bike racks, but we also do basic wiring hook ups to tow small trailers. There are only a handful of vehicles that we can’t mount a hitch to. There are three different classes of hitches (I, II, and III), 3 main brands (Hidden Hitch, Draw-tite and Curt) and all are bolted on. We never weld any hitch on. Most hitches mount into factory mounted holes, that either need to be cleaned before installation, enlarged or sometimes drilled. In some cases we have to cut the bumper or fascia on some vehicles as that is the only way to install the hitch. The instructions include templates so it’s never a blind cut.

Hitches have a 1 year warranty, and offer a great way to carry bikes or tow your utility trailer. Prices range from $200 and up. We do all the work or we can order in the hitch for self-installation. Hitches usually take a day or two to get in, and we need minimum 3 hours. Call us today to see what your options are.
